Born in Lakeland, Mr. Franklin was an entrepreneur, working in interior decorating and wedding consulting. He was a member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Franklin is survived by his mother, Johnnie Mae Franklin, Lakeland; sister, Mary Linda Franklin Kirkland, Lakeland; brothers, Tyrone Franklin, Lakeland, Edward Franklin, Washington, Ga.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Coney Funeral Parlor Inc. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Morrison Cemetery.

PLANT CITY -- Mr. Sam Howell Astin Jr. of Plant City died of cancer Sunday (May 15, 2005) at Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa. He was 75.
Mr. Astin was born March 14, 1930, in Plant City. He was a farmer. He was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Plant City.
Mr. Astin is survived by his wife, Betty Astin; daughters, Suzanne Astin Roberts and Laura Astin Carter, both of Plant City; son, Sam Astin III, Plant City; ten grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Plant City. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

BARTOW -- Mrs. Helen G. Aumann of Bartow died of complications of Alzheimer's disease Sunday (May 15, 2005) at Good Shepherd Hospice Residential Center, Auburndale. She was 77.
Born March 21, 1928, in Baltimore, Md., she came to Bartow from Frederick, Md., 10 years ago. She was a printer and proofreader at the U.S. Government Printing Office in Washington, D.C., for 25 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bartow.
Mrs. Aumann is survived by several stepchildren and eight step grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

DAVENPORT -- Mrs. Barbara G. Hatcher of Davenport died of lung cancer Saturday (May 14, 2005) at home. She was 68.
Born Dec. 23, 1936, in Merced, Calif., she moved here from Modesto, Calif., in 1981. She worked in sales at Hampton's Golf and Country Club in Auburndale. She was a volunteer with Guardian Ad Litem.
Mrs. Hatcher is survived by her husband, Jimmy Hatcher; stepson, Michael Hatcher, Balch Springs, Texas; stepdaughters, Monique Hawkins and Leatrice Hatcher, both of Oakley, Calif.; sisters, Joan Scettrini, Grande Ronde, Calif., and Victoria Guinn, Modesto; brother, Michael Wilson, of Escalon, Calif.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Salas Brother's Funeral Home, Modesto.
