PLANT CITY -- Mrs. Neta Lee Dixon of Plant City died of heart disease Aug. 17, 2005, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. She was 82.
Born in Madison on July 24, 1923, Mrs. Dixon came to Plant City from there more than 50 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Allen Chapel AME Church where she was a stewardess and missionary worker.
Mrs. Dixon was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Dixon. She is survived by her daughter, Annie Ruth Dixon, Gainesville; sisters, Rosa L. Hudson, Omega, Ga., Genetha Montalvo, Plant City, Mary Helen Gear, Tifton, Ga.; brother, Louis C. Jackson, Brandon; four grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 this evening at Charlow Funeral Home, 1010 E. Laura St., Plant City. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Allen Chapel AME Church, 1109 E. Laura St., Plant City.

LAKELAND -- Mr. Elmer Ray Shelton of Lakeland died of heart failure Saturday (Aug. 20, 2005) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He was 79.
Born in Winter Haven on July 14, 1926, Mr. Shelton was a lifelong resident. He was a courtesy security guard at Carlton Arms South in Lakeland. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Willow Oaks Assembly of God in Mulberry.
Mr. Shelton is survived by his wife, Naomi Shelton; sons, Ray R. Shelton, Ocean Park, Wash., Dennis Shelton, Corvallis, Ore.; stepsons, Greg Waters, Gainesville, John Waters, Lakeland; daughters, Mildred Lieberman, Tel Aviv, Israel, Elizabeth Shelton, Winter Haven; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Willow Oaks Assembly of God in Mulberry.

EAGLE LAKE -- Mr. Bernard "Larry" Riley of Eagle Lake died of cancer Saturday (Aug. 20, 2005) at Winter Haven Hospital. He was 56.
He was born in Dyers County, Tenn., on Feb. 23, 1949. He was the owner and operator of Larry's Lawn Care in Eagle Lake.
Mr. Riley is survived by his wife, Connie Riley; sons, Ray Bonds, Eagle Lake, Dewayne Riley, Tennessee; daughters, Eve Phelps, Lakeland, Cheryl, Winter Haven; sisters, Virginia Bailey, Wahneta, Carol Mentz, Lakeland, Linda Faye, Tennessee; brother, Buster McCorke, Tennessee; four grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at McCullough Chapel Baptist Church in Dyersburg, Tenn.

LAKE WALES -- Mrs. Jane Louise Perdew of Lake Wales died of heart disease Aug. 18, 2005, at home. She was 71.
Born in Napoleon, Ohio, on Dec. 20, 1933, Mrs. Perdew came to Lake Wales from Winter Haven 25 years ago. She was a retired bookkeeper. She was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2420 and a former member of the American Legion Post No. 0071. She was an Army veteran and a member of the Retired Enlisted Association. She was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose.
Mrs. Perdew was preceded in death by her husband, Tom A. Perdew. She is survived by her nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lake Wales. Burial will be at a later date in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
WALKER MASON, 72

WINTER HAVEN -- Mr. Walker Ira Mason of Winter Haven died of a heart attack Sunday (Aug. 21, 2005) at home. He was 72.
Born in Alabama on Oct. 15, 1932, Mr. Mason came to Winter Haven from Haines City 45 years ago. He was a citrus laborer. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.
Mr. Mason was preceded in death by his wife, Fannie Mason. He is survived by his sons, James C. Mason, Birmingham, Ala., Bruce Hurt, Winter Haven; brothers, Clifford Mason and Ike Mason, both of Haines City, Matthew Mason, Miami, Glover Mason, Sodus, N.Y.; sisters, Annie Ruth Mason, Flora Mae Rogers, and Ollie Bell Mason, all of Union Springs, Ala.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Charles A. Lewis Funeral Home, 1700 Second St. N.W., Winter Haven. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Bethel Baptist Church in Winter Haven. Burial will be in Rolling Hills Cemetery.

LAKELAND -- Miss Sylvia Thompson of Lakeland died of cancer Monday (Aug. 22, 2005) at home. She was 77.
Born Oct. 22, 1927, in Brooksville, she came here from Brooksville 52 years ago. She was a secretary for the Federal/State Agricultural Weather Service. She was a member of First Baptist Church at the Mall.
Miss Thompson is survived by her sisters, Thelma Pentz, Brooksville; Audrey Rundle, Lynchburg, Va., and Chris Coburn, Gainesville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church at the Mall, Building Fund, 1010 E. Memorial Blvd., Lakeland, FL 33801.
Visitation will be Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church at the Mall. Funeral services will follow at the church.

LAKELAND -- Mr. Irving "Catfish" Parker Sr. of Lakeland died of cardiac arrest Sunday (Aug. 21, 2005). He was 85.
Born Sept. 9, 1919, in Waycross, Ga., he moved to Lakeland from Waycross 56 years ago. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran. He was a heavy equipment operator with Allied Scrap Iron and Lakeland Packing Co. He was a member of Bethel Gospel Tabernacle.
Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Parker. He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Moore, Lakeland, Irene Davis, Riverdale, Ga., Jimmie Stephens, Wilmington, Del., Hazel Duncan, Avon Park, and Bessie Smith, Lakeland; sons, Irving Parker Jr., Lakeland, and Joseph Stirrup, Avon Park; sisters, Esther Sermon, Mary Lee Johnson, and Willie Norris, all of Brunswick, Ga.; brother, Richard McConago, Jacksonville; 32 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at H.W. Oldham Funeral Home. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at New Jerusalem MB Church. Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

EAGLE LAKE -- Mrs. Betty L. Notestine of Eagle Lake died of an autoimmune disease Friday (Aug. 19, 2005). She was 77.
Born Jan. 30, 1928, in Saville Township, Pa., Mrs. Notestine moved to Eagle Lake from Harrisburg, Pa., eight years ago. She worked as a supervisor for the Department of Vital Statistics in Pennsylvania. She attended Messiah Lutheran Church, Mifflintown, Pa. She served in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Notestine was preceded in death by her husband, John W. McNemar. She is survived by her son, Andrew Notestine, Mifflintown; stepsons, Daniel McNemar, Hummlestown, Pa., Ronald McNemar, Newport, Pa.; daughter, Connie Satterfield, Winter Haven; stepdaughter, Catherine Haffly, Harrisburg; brothers, Martin Dillman, Mount Pleasant Mills, Pa., Guy Dillman and Kenneth Foose, both of Mifflintown, Harry Dillman, Catskills, N.Y., Greg Fosselman, McAlisterville, Pa.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held later in Pennsylvania.
