ALBANY - The graveside funeral service of Charles L. Whatley, 76, of 143 Sportsman Club Road, who died Tuesday, November 12, 2002, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.
A native of Dothan, AL, Mr. Whatley had resided in the Albany and Leesburg area for the past 39 years. He was a retired electrician and worked for many years with his wife, Elizabeth Adeline Whatley, at Whatley Flowers and Shrubs. Mr. Whatley was a member of the Church of Christ of Latter Day Saints, a World War II veteran, and loved fishing and bird hunting.
Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Harriet and Tommy Thompson of Albany, Juanetta and Richard Miller of Stafford, VA, and Charlotte and David Bogert of Bridgeboro, GA; two sons and their wives, Charles (Lawson) Whatley Jr. and Ann Whatley of Lee County and James (Jim) and Abbie Whatley of Bay St. Louis, MS; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m.- 9 p.m. today at Mathews Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Albany Community Hospice, P.O. Box 1828, Albany, GA 31702.

Valerie Jo Brown Yanke
ALBANY - Valerie Jo Brown Yanke, 42, of Albany, died Thursday, November 7, 2002, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Hall & Hall Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Charles Harper officiating.
She was a native of Portsmouth, VA, and had lived in Albany most of her life. She graduated from Dougherty High School. Mrs. Yanke was employed as a cashier for Food Lion. She had served in the United States Navy and Naval Reserve. She was a member of Georgia Society of Mayflower Decendents. Mrs. Yanke was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Ann Brown and a son, Michael David Yanke.
Survivors include her father, Lawrence V. Brown of Albany; son, Lawrence Scott Yanke; and two daughters, Brittany Ann Yanke of Albany and Arriane Marie Nash of Sylvester.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. today at Hall & Hall Funeral Home.

BLAKELY - Richard Douglas Hilton, 66, of Route 5, Box 2635, Blakely, died Monday, November 11, 2002, in Blakely.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in Sowatchee Cemetery.
A native of Early County, Mr. Hilton was a logger.
Survivors include his mother, Alline Richardson Hilton of Blakely; son, Richard Hilton Jr. of Blakely; two daughters, Janice cook of Monticello, Fla., and Sybill Norris of Atlanta; three brothers, James Hilton and Danny Hilton, both of Blakely and John Hilton of Columbia, AL; five sisters, Mary Marshall of Midland City, AL, Sarah Gessels of Cedar Springs, Joyce McCardie, Judy Cliatt and Cathy Cobb, all of Blakely; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Ritchie Hilton.
Visitation will be 7 p.m.-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

SYCAMORE - Services for Ruby Wood Mauldin, age 92, of Sycamore, GA, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Bethel Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Ken Kicklighter and the Rev. Donnie Duncan will officiate. Mrs. Mauldin died Tuesday, November 12, 2002, at Ashburn Health Care following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Mauldin was born in Polk County, GA, and had resided most of he life in Turner County. Mrs. Mauldin was the daughter of the late William David Wood Sr. and Martha Biggers Wood. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher, a former member of the church choir and was a member of the Lydia Sunday School Class. She was a homemaker and the widow of Arthur Mauldin who died January 11, 1995.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn M. Griffin, of Sycamore; brother, W.D. Wood Jr. of Ashburn; two sisters, Dura Kate McGill of Cordele and Christine Wood of Decatur; two grandchildren, Brad Griffin of Sycamore and Rhonda Griffin of Tifton; and two great grandchildren, Brandon and Caroline Griffin of Sycamore.
The family will accept flowers; however, for those who wish in lieu of flowers, please make donations to Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund.

Casketbearers will be Timothy H. Washington, Charles B. Thomas, Derrick A. Thomas Sr., Derrick A. Thomas Jr., Otis P. Daniels, Shane Thomas and Xavain J. Thomas.
A native of Ben Hill County, Mr. Washington was a tire fabricator. He was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his mother, Beatrice Bill Daniels of Albany; his son, Timothy Washington of Sylvester; daughters, Claudette Washington of Moultrie, Charlene Washington and Stacy Washington, both of Centerville, VA; brothers, Clyde Washington of New Jersey and Bob Washington of Tifton; sister, Marie Davis of Albany; grandchildren, Nicole Burley of Sylvester, Malcolm Marks Jr., Pheloica Marks, ArbreAnna Marks, all of Moultrie, Cameron Washington of Centerville, VA. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Washington.
The family may be contacted at the residence of Claudette Washington, 1020 Highland Blvd., Moultrie.
The remains of Mr. Washington will lie-in-state at the church Saturday from 12 p.m. until the hour of the funeral for viewing.

A native of Dougherty County, Mrs. Davis was educated in the Dougherty County Public School System. She was a graduate of Monroe Comprehensive High School and was a member of Help Ministries of Albany.
Survivors include her husband, Otis Davis; parents, Phyllis and Perry Reeves and Jimmy Phillips; grandparents, Vera and Phil Jordan and Vera Phillips and the late Walter Phillips; five sisters, Katrina (Eric) Taylor, Vontressa (Alonzo Wright) Jordan, Brittany Phillips, Barbra Phillips and Kawanda Holland; three brothers, Perry Eddie Reeves III, Cory Phillips (Kidney Donor) and Wayne Parks. Two very special friends, Lawanda Randall and Naimah Abdullah.
