TROY ALBERT DEGOLYER

Our beloved Troy Albert DeGolyer passed away in his Blairsville home of 15 years, and joined our Creator, on Monday, Oct. 31, 2005.

He is preceded in death by his father, Elijah Coldwell, his step father, Paul DeGolyer Sr., his brother, James Carl DeGolyer and his sister, Judy Mead. He is survived by his mother, Mildred DeGolyer, his wife, Carliss DeGolyer, his children, Nick DeGolyer, Jolee Miles and Vickie Hajash, his sisters, Veronica Davis and Yvonne Clemmons, his brother, Paul DeGolyer, and grandchildren, Alex and Jazzmyne DeGolyer, Rachael and Gregory Miles, and Taylor Hajash. Troys mother and siblings reside in Cincinnati, Ohio. His wife and children reside in Georgia and Florida, respectively.

A strong Native American bloodline defined Troy’s character, resolution and values. Troys mother is of the Shawnee Nation, and Troy’s late father was full blooded Apache.

Troy served as a Corpsman in the US Navy for four years and the Naval Reserve for two years. Following his Military service he started a successful security alarm business in Largo, Florida. Here he met his wife Carliss in the summer of 1980 and adopted a son, Nick, the following year, becoming a devoted father and husband.

Throughout his life, Troy utilized his unique ability to find the beauty and potential in all things. In perfecting this ability, Troy moved his family to the city of Blairsville, located in the Blue Ridge mountains of Georgia. Here he began a respected truck accessory business as well as a mobility products company. With hard work, strong will and the help of his family, Troy steadily created a beautiful estate and spiritual refuge from an old rustic farmland. this newly renowned home was properly named" Two Eagles Estate".

In keeping with his tradition of beautifying life, Troy was a self taught artist. Mother Earth was his canvas and inspiration. He skillfully etched, drew, painted and sculpted images of nature and Native American life.

Troy has left us a legacy of endurance, respect, quality and love. He will be dearly missed by all who love him.

A memorial service was held on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005 at 2:00 pm from the funeral home chapel with Chaplin Bob Huggins officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation in Mr. DeGolyer’s memory. The North Georgia Honor Guard conducted Military Honors.

ROBERT E. RENAUD

Mr. Robert E. Renaud of Ford Rd. Blairsville passed away to be with the Lord on Monday, Oct. 31, 2005.He was born on May 26, 1935 in Manchester, NH., The son of the late Edouard Renaud and the late Jeannette Ouellette Renaud. He graduated high school and joined the US Naval Military as a Gunners Mate and was honorably discharged. He later became a general contractor and retired as a project Superintendent at the age of 63.He truly enjoyed shooting pool and praying on the golf course. He was a member of the American Legion.

Surviving Mr. Renaud are one son and daughter-in-law, David and Christine Renaud of Chicago, IL., with two grandchildren, Candace and Brad Renaud, His eldest daughter and son-in-law, Roberta and Keith Ford of Blairsville, with two grandchildren, Daniel and Justine Ford, His youngest daughter and son-in-law, Justine and John Sproul and two grandchildren, Chelsey and Connor Sproul, many other relatives and friends also survive.

His prayers and wishes were of cremation and for his loved ones to "celebrate" his home coming in lieu of a formal service. In lieu of flowers if you wish, The family requests that memorials may be made to The American Legion Post 129 of Jacksonville Beach, FL. in Mr. Renaud’s memory.

REV. JASON WAYNE HUGHES

Rev. Jason Wayne Hughes, age 29 of Dorothy Hughes Rd. Blairsville passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Rev. Hughes was born on May 25, 1976 in Union County the son of Wayne Hughes and Joan Underwood Hughes.He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He was preceded in death by his Grandfathers. Rev. Hughes was a member of Snow Hill Baptist Church.

Surviving Rev. Hughes are his loving wife of eight years, Shelley George Hughes of Blairsville, Two children, Autumn and Jacob Hughes of Blairsville, Father and Mother, Rev.Wayne and Joan Hughes of Blairsville, one sister and brother in law, Kim and Devin Roberts of Blairsville, nephew, Dalton Ayers of Blairsville, Grandparents, Mary Sue Hughes and Annie Vitale both of Blairsville, A host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005 at 2:00 pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Wayne Hughes, Rev. Stanley Gibson and Rev. Jonathan Hood officiating. Special music will be presented by Jonathan Adams and Forgiven. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Rev. Randy Hughes, Ricky Hughes, Troy Hughes, Devin Roberts, Darren Hughes and Charlie Hinson. Interment will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church cemetery.

BILLY JOE "B.J." CLARK

Mr. Billy Joe Clark, age 43 of Hicks Gap Rd. Blairsville passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Clark was born on Nov. 10, 1963 in Knoxville, TN., the son of the late Joseph Clark and the late Willie Sowards Clark. He was a lifelong resident of Union County, GA, and Cherokee, County, NC. B. J. loved fishing, hiking, camping and the great outdoors. He enjoyed tinkering with cars and was a big Nascar fan. Music was a big part of his life and in his younger years had played in a band. Mr. Clark was a member of Zebulon Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. Clark are his wife, Dana Smith Clark of Blairsville, three sons, Casey Shadix of Raleigh, NC., Dustin and Cody Meeker of Blairsville, four daughters, Diamond Clark of Blairsville, Autumn Clark of Hayesville, Journey Clark of Andrews, NC., Kacey Clark of Lake City, FL, three sisters and one brother in law, Micki and Randall Pruitt of Lake City, FL, Vicki Croft of Jennings, FL, Samantha Whitner of Andrews, NC., three grandchildren, Natalie, Kaden and Louie Whitt, mother in law, Donna Hammond of Blairsville, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Organ Transplant Unit of Piedmont Hospital of Atlanta in Mr. Clark’s memory.

JOSHUA ALAN JONES

Mr. Joshua Alan (Better known as Josh) Jones, age 19 of Brooke Lane Blairsville passed away on Monday, July 2, 2007 at his home following a sudden illness. Josh was born on Feb. 25, 1988 in Hall County, GA, the son of Gary Alan Jones and Sheila Morris Jones. He was a lifelong resident of Union County and had attended the Union County School System. He enjoyed Hunting, fishing and being outdoors. His hobbies were riding horses, motorcycles and being with his friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Grover Morris in 1980.Josh was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Josh are his parents, Gary and Sheila Jones of Blairsville, two brothers, Joey Jones of Blairsville and Jamie Lunsford of Blairsville, maternal grandmother, Viva Morris of Suches, paternal grandparents, Arnold and Billie Jones of Blairsville, several aunts, uncles, cousins, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2007 at 2:00pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. William Sisum, Rev. Chad Sisum and Rev. Randolph Jones officiating. Special music will be presented by Casey and Britt Jones. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Stuart Whitener, Matthew Whitener, Pepper Ledbetter, David Burrell, Christopher Ledbetter, Mitchell Foster, Little Randy Ledford and Josh Cook. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Shannon Jones, Travis Jones, Randy Ledford, Jason Lunsford, Cody Thomason and Gary Foster. Interment will follow in the Liberty Hill Methodist Cemetery.The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening after 6:00pm.

HAZEL BIRDELL COLBERT

Mrs. Hazel Birdell Colbert, age 85 of Crawford Rd. Blairsville passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Colbert was born on Nov. 30, 1921 in Robinsville, NC., the daughter of the late Casey V. Jones and the late Mary R. Anderson Jones. She was a lifelong resident of Union County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorris George Colbert in 2006, three brothers, Harold, Clyde and Toby Jones, and a sister, Lina Seabolt. Mrs. Colbert was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Mrs. Colbert are two daughters and one son-in-law, Jo and Carroll Weaver of Blairsville, Elouise Weaver of Douglasville, two sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. James and Sharon Ingram of Harem, GA, C. A. and Beverly Ingram of MA., five sisters, Ida Jackson of Blairsville, Ruth Payne of Forest Park, GA, Shirley Moore of Fayettville, Bobbie Lou Gentry of Forest Park, Polly Henson of Blairsville, two brothers, Jack Jones of Blairsville and Rev. Tommy Jones of Blairsville, one hundred and three grandchildren and great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 9, 2007 at 2:00pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. James Ingram and Rev. Tommy Jones officiating. Special music will be presented by the Dyer Family. The grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in the Union Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening after 5:00pm.

REBECCA ELAINE DURKIN

Mrs. Rebecca Elaine (Betty known as Becky) Durkin, age 52 of Chestnut Oak Lane Blairsville passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2007 at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Durkin was born on Jan. 5, 1955 in Hall County, GA, the daughter of Harvey Crawford and Christine Adams Crawford. She had made her home in Blairsville since 1998, moving here from Gainesville. Becky was a mighty prayer warrior for the Lord. Mrs. Durkin was a member of New Hope Baptist church.

Surviving Mrs. Durkin are one daughter and son-in-law, April and Dean Cook of Blairsville, one son and daughter-in-law, Gabriel and Lori Watson of Oakwood, GA, mother, Christine Spain of Blairsville, father, Harvey Crawford of MO., aunt, Carolyn Lancaster of Blairsville, five grandchildren, Abby, Dalton, Reid, Savanna and Jerin, cousins, Gene and Faye Phillips of Blairsville, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at 11:00am from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Leon McDonald officiating. Special music was presented by Alice McDonald, Heidi Sosebee, Cindy Whitmore and Sandy Gribble. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Chip Cribble, Stacy Strickland, Rodney Beasley, Gabriel Watson, Dean Cook and Johnny Whitmore. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5-8pm.

HAROLD LIEDOFF ALLEN

Mr. Harold Liedoff Allen, age 89 of Tanyard St. Blairsville, GA, formerly of Marshall, MN., and also of Clyde, KS., passed away on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Allen was born on Aug. 23.1916 in Clyde, KS., the son of the late Walter Allen and the late Daisy Odgers Allen. He was a Veteran of the US Army of WWII, having fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hjordis Bjornebo Allen in 2003, A son, Wayne Allen in 1983, two sisters, Alberta Snavley and Edna Hershel and a brother, Vern Allen. Mr. Allen was of the Lutheran faith.

Surviving Mr. Allen are one son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Sharon Allen of Hayesville, NC., one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Horace Smith of Blairsville, five Grandchildren, Eric Smith, Carmon Schnoor, Nicole Van den Sanden, Dr. Denise Allen and Jennifer Aase, Five Great-Grandchildren, Sydney and Jeremy Smith, Caroline and Meredith Aase and Grace Van den Sanden, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service and interment will be held at a later date from the Zion Lutheran church and cemetery in Clyde, KS., and will be announced. In lieu of flowers if you wish, The family requests that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in Mr. Allen's memory.
