Mr. William C. Wilkie

Mr. William Clyde Wilkie, 74, of Newnan, died Tuesday morning, November 16, 1999 at Tanner Memorial Hospital in Carrollton after a long illness.

Mr. Wilkie was a veteran of the United States Army and the United States Airforce serving in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Wilkie was retired after a long career with the Federal Government.

A private funeral is planned.

Surviving are his wife, Phyllis P. Wilkie of Newnan; son, Tony Wilkie of Lincolnton, N.C.; brothers, Jack Wilkie, James Earl Wilkie and Troy Wilkie; sisters, Gertrude McDaniel, Lucy Weaver and Jean Allen.

Mr. Melvin Arnold

Mr. Melvin Arnold of Westchester Blvd, N.W. died Nov. 10, 1999.

Graveside services were held Nov. 16 at Forestlawn Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Gregory Sutton, pastor of the Jackson Memorial Baptist Church officiating.

Surviving are daughter Ms. Marquita Holt; sister, Mrs. Janice Hudson and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Paul B. Barbee

Mr. Paul B. Barbee, 67, of Newnan, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 1999 at Newnan Hospital.

Mr. Barbee was born August 18, 1932 in Bluefield, West Virginia. He was a retired colonel in the U.S. Army and National Guard.

A memorial service will be held at McEwen Funeral Home in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Saturday, Nov. 20 at 11 a.m..

Surviving are his daughters, Linda Bridges of Newnan and D'Etta Lasky of Belmont, N.C.; grandchildren, Brianna Bridges and Cole Bridges of Newnan.

Mrs. Patricia Landers, of Newnan, died Tuesday, November 16, 1999.

She is remembered as a loving wife, mother and friend to strangers and people in need.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. at the Church in the Now in Conyers, Ga. Bishop Jim Swilley will officiate.

Surviving are her husband, Kenneth Landers of Newnan; daughters and sons-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John (Cathy) Wolfe of Lilburn, Ga., Mr. and Mrs. Dan (Cheryl) Shives of Covington, Ga., Ms. Amy Warsham of Lawrenceville, Ga.; sons and daughter-in-law, Mr. Jimmy Landers of Griffin, Ga. and Mr. and Mrs. Kevin (Linda) Landers of Indiana; sister, Mrs. Gayle Chapman of Greenville, Texas; 11 grandchildren.

Mr. Nerion Henry "Butch" Murphy

Mr. Nerion Henry "Butch" Murphy, 58, of Eufaula, Alabama, died Tuesday, November 16, 1999 at the Montgomery Veterans Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Murphy was born Feb. 12, 1941, son of the late Luther Carl Murphy and the late Brunell Ira Galloway. Mr. Murphy was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Murphy. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force after serving 20 years and two tours in Vietnam.

A funeral will be Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Kent Funeral Home in Eufaula, Ala. The Rev. Bob Britt will officiate, with burial in Epworth Cemetery with full military honors.

Surviving are daughter, Terese Colson of Irwinton, Ga.; son, Carl Murphy of Milledgeville, Ga.; brothers, Ray Murphy of Birmingham, Ala., Tony Murphy, Audie Murphy and Chip Murphy, all of Eufaula, Ala.; sisters, Sue Denman of Yulee, Fla. and Stacey Mattews of Millen, Ga.; four grandchildren; two aunts, Eva Galloway Nichols of Franklin, Ga. and Helen Iler of Atlanta.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, Nov. 20 at 3 p.m. at Kennedy Memorial Gardens in Ellenwood, Ga. with the Rev. Henderson officiating.

Mrs. Emily Fuller, 68, of Luthersville, died Thursday, November 18, 1999 at Emory Peachtree Regional Hospital in Newnan.

Mrs. Fuller ws born June 4, 1931 in Luthersville. She was a member of the Luthersville United Methodist Church, was retired from the First American Bank in Luthersville, and was the wife of the late Henry Fuller.

A funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20 at the Luthersville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Rance Sprayberry, the Rev. Floyd Tenney and the Rev. Ronnie Hughes will officiate. Burial will be in Luthersville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tommy Wilson, Barry Wilson, Mike Hughes, Phillip Hughes, Greg McCoy and Chuck Fuller.

Surviving are daughter, Mrs. Sandra F. Jones of Huntsville, Alabama; sons, Donald L. Fuller of Kathleen, and Clark W. Fuller, Thomas Edward Fuller and Ben O. Fuller, all of Luthersville; mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Murray (Hallie) Reid of Luthersville; sisters, Mrs. Gwen Hughes of Dunwoody and Mrs. Betty McCoy of Gulf Shores, Ala.; brothers, Herbert O. Mrs. Myrtie Viola Helton, 95, of Kennon Street, Sargent, Ga., died Friday, November 19, 1999 at Emory Peachtree Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Helton was born August 10, 1904 in Georgia. She was a homemaker.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, Nov. 20 from 7-9 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home.

A funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at McKoon chapel with the Rev. Bill Dean officiating. Burial will be in Sargent Cemetery on Old Carrollton Highway west of Newnan. Pallbearers will be David Garner, Wayne Lewis, Charles Moore, Larry Rooker, Bobby Veal and Jeff Westbrook.

Surviving are daughters, Sue Duke of Sargent, Edna Weaver of Dalton, Ga.; sisters, Annie Mae Morris of Newnan and Velma Daniel of Hogansville, Ga.; brother, Roy Thornton of Newnan.

Mr. Leonard Sewell

Mr. Leonard Sewell, 68, of Greenville, Ga. died November 17, 1999 at LaGrange Hospice in LaGrange, Ga.

He was born May 28, 1931 in Meriwether County. A member of the Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Luthersville, he served as chairman of the Deacon Board, and was an active member of the Zion Hill Male Choir. He retired in 1989 from Uniroyal Mills in Hogansville, Ga.

A funeral will be Sunday, Nov. 21 at 2:30 p.m. at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Luthersville, with the Rev. D. L. Driver officiating. Assisting will be the Rev. Clifford Black, Rev. Lowinston Jackson, and Rev. Emmett Clark. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be the Zion Hill Male Choir. Active pallbearers will be nephews.

Surviving are his wife, Annie Pearl Sewell; daughter, Willine Hines of Newnan; sons, Leonard R. (Dedridra) Sewell, Luthersville, James G. (Kathy) Sewell, LaGrange and Jeffrey and Clarence Sewell, Luthersville; sisters, Susie Murry, Willie Pearl Myree and Juanita Birt of Atlanta; brothers, Ector "Nick" (Laura) Sewell of Luthersville, Glover (Murry) Sewell, Atlanta, Lorenzo (Evelyn) Sewell, Atlanta; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; aunt, Minnie Mae Hill; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Bobby Eugene Cline

Mr. Bobby Eugene Cline, 67, of Highway 120, Buchanan, Ga., and formerly of Morgan Road, Temple, Ga., died Saturday, November 20, 1999 at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. Cline was born August 31, 1932 in Haralson County, Ga., son of the late Thomas William Cline Sr. and the late Mrs. Trudie Phillips Cline. He was a retired maintenance worker and a member of the Corinth Baptist Church and attended Fullerville Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, one sister, Mrs. Sally Webb and one brother, Mr. William Thomas Cline Jr., preceded him in death.

A funeral was Monday, Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. at the Fullerville Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Swafford and the Rev. Horace Wilson officiating. Musical selections were provided by Susan Hunter, accompanied by Tony Harris and Eric Cline. Burial was in the Garden of the Cross of Meadowbrook Memory Gardens on Hickory Level Road in Villa Rica.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Agnes Meeks Cline of Buchanan; daughters, Mrs. Diane Chaffin of Fayetteville, Tennessee, and Mrs. Susan Hunter of Dallas; son, Rickey Cline of Bremen; sister, Mrs. Clara Peeek of Carrollton; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lawrence Andrew Craig, 87, of Newnan, died Sunday, November 21, 1999 at his residence.

Mr. Craig was born March 22, 1912 in Georgia. He had worked for General Motors and was a veteran of the armed services.

The family will receive friends at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan from 8-9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23.

A funeral will be Wednesday, Nov. 24 at 11 a.m. at Westminster Memorial cemetery.

Surviving are son, Tony Wright of Newnan; sister, Mabel Bryans of Tucker, Ga.; brothers, Horace Craig of Grantville, Ga. and James Craig of Steinhatchee, Fla.; sisters, Sarah Dever of Riverdale, Ga., Margie Pack of Norcross, Ga. and Agnes Rubino of Tyron, Ga.; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Mary C. Hawkins

Mrs. Mary C. Hawkins, 75, of Blandenburg Road, Carrollton, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999 in a Newnan hospital.

Mrs. Hawkins was a native of Carroll County and was the daughter of the late Tom Crawford and Tannie Harwell Crawford. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Nora Buchanan and Ruby Crawford; and three brothers, Archie, Grady and Reese Crawford.

A funeral will be Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Almon Funeral Home in Carrollton with Rev. Keith Hancock and the Rev. Karen Kagiyama officiating. Music will be furnished by Mrs. Becky Griffin.

Pallbearers will be Donald North, Paul Hawkins, Johnny Hightower, Timmy Pickard, Joshua Duncan and Mark Crawford. Burial will be in the Whooping Creek Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.

Mr. Wilmer L. Jackson, 73, of Boy Scout Road, Newnan, died November 20, 1999 at his residence.

Mr. Jackson was born Jan. 17, 1926 in Union County, Ga. to Claude Jackson Sr. and Rusha Jackson. He was a retired truck driver and member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Newnan.

A funeral was held Monday, Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Strickland officiating, assisted by the Rev. O. C. Collins. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Troy Baskins, Allen Stone, Randy Spratlin, Tim Spratlin, Ted Storey and Bobby Neil.

Lt. Col. (Ret.) Emma Ruth Pyke

Lt. Col. (Ret.) Emma Ruth Pyke, 85, of Sharpsburg, Ga. died Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999.

Lt. Col. Pyke was commissioned in June 1932 in the Salvation Army and served alongside her husband in various appointments throughout the South. Upon his death in 1973, she served in the Atlanta Territorial Headquarters until her retirement in December 1978. She had a love for people and a heart for the Lord, according to her family.

A funeral will be held in the H. M. Patterson and Son Spring Hill chapel in Atlanta Wednesday, Nov. 24, at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery in Atlanta.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at H. M. Patterson & Son Spring Hill Chapel, 1020 Spring St., Atlanta.

Surviving are four children and their spouses, Marjorie Ruth and Carl B. Miller of Sharpsburg, Ga., William Arthur and Mary Pyke of Dallas, Texas, Richard Edward and Loretta Pyke of Friendswood, Texas, and Donald C. and Cheri Pyke of Braselton, Ga.; 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Thomas of Temple, Texas.

Mrs. Marie B. Cash, 82, of Newnan, died Tuesday, November 23, 1999, at Lilburn Health Care.

Mrs. Cash was born June 24, 1917 in Oglethorpe County, Georgia to Jack Wilson Brooks and Annie Mae Cheek. She worked as a manicurist and was a member of the Jehovas Witness Kingdom Hall.

A funeral will be held at graveside Wednesday, Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in College Park with William Oakes officiating.

Surviving are her niece, Elaine Phillips of Lawrenceville; brother, J. W. Brooks of Red Oak, Ga.; sister Louellen McDonald of Athens and many friends.

A funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24 at Wise Chapel of Wise-Connolly Funeral Home in Winder, Ga. with the Rev. Kenneth Deaton officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Winder. Pallbearers will be Josh Bennett, Justin Fuglio, Chris Chandler, Jeff Fraser, Shawn Fraser and Danny Davis.

Mrs. Rachel Reid Yarbrough, 87, of Hogansville, died Tuesday, November 23, 1999 at Newnan Hospital.

Mrs. Yarbrough was born Dec. 21, 1911 in Troup County, daughter of the late John and Annie Davis Reid. She was a lifelong resident of Hogansville, was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Hogansville, and was the wife of the late Robert L. Yarbrough.

A funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26 in the chapel of the Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Wesley Boatman will officiate and burial will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville.

Surviving are sons, Reid Yarbrough of Conyers, Ga.; William Yarbrough and Wayne Yarbrough, both of Hogansville; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 Wednesday and Thursday nights.
