MRS. KNIGHT
Mother of two
BRASELTON - Mrs. Goldie Viola Williams Shaffer Knight diedThursday, July 15, 1999.
Mrs. Knight was a native of Kodal, W.Va. She was a member of the Braselton Church of God of Prophecy.
Mrs. Knight was preceded in death by her husband, John Knight.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 19, in Mannington, W.Va. Burial was in Montana Mines Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Olive Belle Cross, Fairmont, W.Va.; one son, the Rev. W.C. Shaffer, Braselton; two brothers, Patty Williams, Fairmont, W. Va., and Isreal Williams, Bedford, Pa.; 15 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Forestglen Mortuary, Jeffer-son, was in charge of local arrangements.

MRS. STEWART
Mother of countian
SANDERSVILLE - Mrs. Janet Sheppard Stewart, 68, mother of Henry Stewart, Jefferson, diedat her residence.
A life-long resident of Washington County, Mrs. Stewart was a daughter of the late Henry Francis and Sara Ann Bright Sheppard.
She was a retired schoolteacher and a homemaker. Mrs. Stewart was a member of the Sandersville United Methodist Church and of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 22, at Sandersville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Cason officiating. Burial will be in the Jackson's Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to her son, include two other sons, David Stewart, Sandersville, and Billy Stewart, Gainesville; two daughters, Susan McCollum, New Albany, Ind., and Nancy Bush, Palo Alto, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.
Lang's Chapel Funeral Home, Sandersville, is in charge of arrangements.

MR. SIMS
World War II veteran
ATHENS - Fred Otis Sims, 79, diedSunday, July 18, 1999, at a local hospital.
A native of Barrow County, Mr. Sims was bornOctober 10, 1919. He was a son of the late Thomas and Minnie K. Roberts Sims.
Mr. Sims was a veteran of World War II and was at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. He was retired from the Belk's Store in Gastonia, N.C., where he worked as a salesman in the Men's Department.
Mr. Sims had lived in Athens for the past 50 years and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Cecil Sims, and a step-brother, J.B. Waldrup Sr.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, July 20, in the Zion Baptist Church cemetery, Braselton, with the Rev. Larry Pruitt officiating.
Survivors include three nephews, Fred Waldrup and J.B. Waldrup Jr., both of Athens, and George Waldrup, Arcade.
Bridges Funeral Home, Athens, was in charge of arrangements.

MRS. CHASTAIN
Homemaker
HOSCHTON - Mrs. Virgie Chastain, 94, diedMonday, July 19, 1999, at Lake Shore Heights Nursing Home.
Mrs. Chastain was a daughter of the late Chris and Amanda W. Whitmire. She was a homemaker and a member of Crossroads Baptist Church.
Mrs. Chastain was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Chastain, and a daughter, Wynell Braselton.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 21, at Smith Memory Chapel of Smith Funeral Home, Winder, with Mike Braselton, Greg Simmons and Steve Stewart officiating. Burial was in Barrow Memorial Gardens.
Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MRS.
STANDRIDGE
Homemaker
CLEVELAND - Mrs. Brenda Shockley Standridge, 45, diedFriday, July 16, 1999, at Chestatee Regional Hospital following injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
A native of Jefferson, Mrs. Standridge was bornJanuary 18, 1954. She was a daughter of Bernice Savage Shockley, Lula, and the late Eugene "Bozo" Shockley.
Mrs. Standridge was employed at Nok and was of the Holiness faith. She was preceded in death by a sister, Tammy Hulsey, a brother, Dee Shockley, and her father-in-law, Leco Standridge.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 18, at Union Grove Congregational Holiness Church with the Revs. Paul Flynn and Asa Dorsey officiating. Burial was in the Zion Interdenominational Church cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband, W.J. Standridge; daughter and son-in-law, Tracey and Stephen Davenport, Cleveland; two sons, Stacey Standridge and Andy Standridge, both of Cleveland; four brothers, Billy Shockley and Boone Shockley, both of Lula, Joe Shockley, Indiana, and Tommy Shockley, Duluth; three sisters, Shelia Shockley, Arizona, Tina Withrow, Lula, and Shirley Adair, Gainesville; and mother-in-law, Sarah Standridge, Cleveland.
McGahee-Griffin Funeral Home, Cornelia, was in charge of arrangements.

MR. CRANE
U.S. Army veteran
MAYSVILLE - Bobby T. Crane, 62, diedThursday, July 15, 1999, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville.
A native of Maysville, Mr. Crane was bornOctober 28, 1936. He was a son of the late Jim and Ella Mae Presley Crane.
Mr. Crane was a U.S. Army veteran and was retired from Westinghouse-ABB, with 32 years of service.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 17, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with David C. Roberts and the Rev. Mike Stowers officiating. Burial was in the Lebanon Methodist Church cemetery, Gillsville. Tim Crane, Willard Cartledge, Dozier Stevens, Royce Smith, Wiliam Garrish, Chip McClure, Lamar Presley and Lanier Poe served as pallbearers.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine Buffington Crane; one son, Doug Crane, Maysville; two daughters, Gretta Sanders, Commerce, and Mrs. Sandy (Carolyn) Spurlock, Athens; three brothers, Edgar Crane, Nevada, and Howard Crane and Jimmy Crane, both of Maysville; four sisters, Margie Drake, Bernice Edwards and Mrs. Bennie (Gladys) Etris, all of Maysville, and Eva Allen, Atlanta; four grandchildren, Derek, Kayla, Eli and Jake; and two step-grandchildren, Bonny and Susan.
Ivie Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MR. EMANS
U.S. Navy veteran
COMMERCE - Gerald Everett Emans, 66, formerly of Natick, Mass., diedSaturday, July 17, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital, Athens.
A native of Owosso, Mich., Mr. Emans was bornSeptember 4, 1932. He was a son of the late Charles William and Dorothea Lillian Emans.
Mr. Emans was a U.S. Navy veteran and was retired from Polaroid Camera Co., with 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothea Emans.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 19, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Donald Wilson officiating.
Survivors include three sons, Charles Emans, Framingham, Mass., David S. Emans, Campton, N.H., and Gerald Jr. Emans, Demorest; three daughters, JoAnn Anderson, Natick, Mass., Diana Ascheman, Holland, Mich., and MaryLou Kellerson, Commerce; two brothers, Charles Emans, Owosso, Mich., and Walter Emans, Muskegon, Mich.; five sisters, Geraldine Blakesley, Alice Domerese, Kathryn Faber and Betty Truesdell, all of Michigan, and Diana Evans, Arizona; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

MR. GEE
Bus driver
COMMERCE - Roy Leon Gee, 67, diedMonday, July 19, 1999, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
A native of Commerce, Mr. Gee was bornMay 13, 1932. He was a son of the late Riley L. and Bessie Anderson Gee.
Mr. Gee worked as a bus driver for Jackson County Schools.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 21, at Morning Star Baptist Church with the Revs. Mark Poston and Tommy Seay officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Nell Gee; one son, David Gee, Commerce; three daughters, Donna Ayers, Ila, Carolyn Gee, Columbia, S.C., and Debbie Looney, Center; one brother, Ralph Gee, Braselton; one sister, Louise Norris, Dry Pond; and five grandchildren.
Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.

MR. KEITH
Farmer
COMMERCE - James Wilton Keith, 74, diedMonday, July 19, 1999, at BJC Nursing Home, Commerce.
A native of Commerce, Mr. Keith was a son of the late Clarence W. and Lola Wilbanks Keith.
He was a farmer.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 21, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Dennis Kesler officiating.
Survivors include a number of cousins.
Ivie Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MR. STUTTS
Retired printer
BRASELTON - Abe B. Stutts, 71, diedWednesday, July 14, 1999, at Gwinnett Medical Center.
Mr. Stutts was bornin Moore County, N.C., the son of the late Tom and Nettie Sheffield Stutts. He was a retired printer.
Graveside services were held Friday, July 16, at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Pageland, S.C.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Mills Stutts; four sons, Lawrence Poteate, Lilburn, Timothy Poteate, Polkton, N.C., Anthony Stutts, Winston-Salem, N.C., and Thomas Stutts, Raleigh, N.C.; one daughter, Darlyn Stutts, North Carolina; and six grandchildren.
Sutton Funeral Home, Pageland, S.C., was in charge of arrangements.
