MRS. SHERIDAN
Mt. Carmel Baptist Church member
LULA - Mrs. Eunice Morris Sheridan, 73, died Friday, December 8, 2000, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville.
Mrs. Sheridan was born August 20, 1927, in Banks County. She was a daughter of the late Frank and Adell Forrester Morris.
Mrs. Sheridan retired from New Holland Mill and was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Lula, where she was a member of the choir. She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos W.F. Sheridan, and a son, Willard Holloway.
Funeral services were held Sunday, December 10, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with the Revs. Ralph O. Smith and James Duncan officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Vickie Venable, Lula; two brothers, Coleman Morris, Gainesville, and Robert Morris, Lula; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Hwy. 51 S., Lula, GA 30554.
Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.

MR. PAYNE
Blue Bell Mfg. retiree
HOMER - Fred Jenkins Payne, 86, died Saturday, December 9, 2000, at Lanier Park Hospital, Gainesville, following an extended illness.
Mr. Payne was born August 27, 1914, a son of the late John and Byrd Hope Payne.
He was retired from Blue Bell Manufacturing Co.
Funeral services were held Monday, December 11, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Jerry Payne officiating. Burial was in Banks County Memorial Gardens. Edward Countryman, Roger Southerland, Robert Southerland, Tim Carlan, Don Harris and Bryan McCoy served as pallbearers.
Mr. Payne is survived by his wife, Eva Payne, Homer; five daughters, Mary Ann Carlan, Betty Jean Payne, Janet Payne and Guynell Southerland, all of Homer, and Carolyn Harris, Gillsville; three brothers, Guy Payne, Roy Payne and William Payne, all of Homer; one sister, Julia Williams, Homer; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Ivie Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MR. PERRY
U.S. Army veteran
ALTO - Thomas Gordon Perry Jr., 80, died Saturday, December 9, 2000, at a private nursing facility following an extended illness.
Born September 17, 1920, in Maywood, Ill., Mr. Perry had lived the last 15 years in Habersham County. He was a son of the late Thomas Gordon Sr. and Louise Waddell Perry.
Mr. Perry was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was retired from Georgia Power Company, with 50 years of service. He was a member of Morning Side Masonic Lodge #295 F & AM, the Sons of American Revolution and the Ambassadors of Georgia Power and was a Shriner. Mr. Perry served as a deacon and elder of the Cornelia First Presbyterian Church.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Memorial services were held Monday, December 11, at Cornelia First Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Blaine Walker and Richard Scoggins officiating.
Memorials may be made to Gideon International, P.O. Box 195, Baldwin, GA 30511.

MRS. WALDROUP
Homemaker
COMMERCE - Mrs. Dartha Nora Martin Waldroup, 73, died Saturday, December 9, 2000, at her residence.
Mrs. Waldroup was born December 29, 1926, in Oconee County, S.C. She was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Ethel Henderson Martin.
Mrs. Waldroup was a homemaker and a member of Center Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Telford Minish, and her second husband, Bill Waldroup.
Funeral services were held Sunday, December 10, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Terry James officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Minish, Nicholson, and Parris Minish, Danielsville; one daughter, Linda Ingram, Nicholson; two brothers, Clayton Martin, Atlanta, and J.L. Martin, Lula; one sister, Uree Sears, Anderson, S.C.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Little-Ward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MRS. WILSON
Homemaker
ALTO - Mrs. Cora Mae Wilson, 91, died Wednesday, December 6, 2000, at Habersham County Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Wilson was born on August 8, 1909, in Lumpkin County. She was a daughter of the late Floyd and Louise Allison Gheeren.
Mrs. Wilson was a homemaker and attended Baldwin Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, E.C. Wilson.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 8, at Baldwin Church of God with the Revs. Paul Morris, Anthony Shore and Johnny Willis officiating. Burial was in the Wahoo Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Annie and James King, Alto, and Gwyn and Andy Watkins, Baldwin; grandchildren, Julie and Keith Greenway, Lula, Floyd and Debbie King, Alto, Wesley and Susan Watkins, Mt. Airy, and Angel and Tony Garofalo, Hollywood; great-grandchildren, Steve and Michelle Wade, and Jade King, all of Alto, Kathy Watkins, Mt. Airy, and Wesley Greenway, Dahlonega; and one great-great-grandchild, Katelyn Ashley Wade, born October 25, 2000.

MR. MIZE
Retired painter
COVINGTON - Hollis Mize, 83, formerly of Marietta, died Tuesday, November 5, 2000.
Born in Homer, Mr. Mize had lived in Marietta for 50 years. He was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church and instrumental in the beginning of Calvary Children's Home. Mr. Mize was retired as a painter with the Marietta Housing Authority, with 36 years of service.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 8, at Calvary Baptist Church, Powder Springs, with the Rev. Snyder Turner officiating. Burial was in Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery, Marietta.
Mr. Mize is survived by his wife, Bonnie L. Mize; three daughters, Betty McCowan, Covington, Martha Stanley, Canton, and Louise Bolling, Chatsworth; three sisters, Gladys Love and Cleo Alexander, both of Commerce, and Jeanette Vaughn, Meridian, Conn.; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home, Marietta, was in charge of arrangements.

MR. OLLIS
Grey Hill cemetery rites
COMMERCE - Jimmy Lee Ollis, 37, died Wednesday, December 6, 2000, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
Mr. Ollis was born August 15, 1963, in Fulton County. He was a son of the late Harold Lee Ollis and Betty Jean Carroll.
Funeral services were held Sunday, December 10, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Jimmy Owensby officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Mr. Ollis is survived by four brothers, Pete Brooks and Michael Edward Ollis, both of Atlanta, Dean Konrady, Ohio, and Herman David Ollis, Commerce; and one sister, Regina Phillips, Commerce.
Little-Ward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MRS. LENTZ
Bethany UMC member
JEFFERSON - Mrs. Julia Redd Lentz, 86, died Sunday, December 10, 2000, at BJC Nursing Home, Commerce, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Lentz was born June 26, 1914, in Banks County, a daughter of the late Charles Redd and Leah Jane O'Donald.
She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Jefferson. Mrs. Lentz was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lentz, two brothers, William Redd and Thurmond Redd, and four sisters, Berma Lou Tucker, Azalee Ingram, Sue Williamson and Nelle Eller.
Funeral services were held Monday, December 11, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, with the Revs. Asa Thomas and Hulon Hill officiating. Burial was in the Bethany United Methodist Church cemetery.
Survivors include three sisters, Mozelle Ayers and Nola Hulm, both of Jefferson, and Joanne Bradberry, Braselton; two brothers, Charles Redd Jr., Rex, and Ellis Redd, Jefferson; and several nieces and nephews.
Evans Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MR. ALINGER
U.S. Army veteran
ALTO - Ernest A. Alinger, 81, of the Hollingsworth Community, died Tuesday, February 27, 2001, at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Alinger was born in Livingston, N.J., on May 3, 1919. He was a son of the late Michael and Bertha Mitschelle Alinger, and was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Ann Robinson Alinger.
Mr. Alinger was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II, and was retired Captain with the Livingston, N.J., police department with over 25 years of service.
He was a member of the Cattleman's Association and previously served as chaplain with the Hollingsworth Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Alinger was also a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at Rock Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Wilson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. James G. Dolphus, Athens, and Martha Alinger Frady, Clarkesville; one sister, Doris M. White, Whippany, N.J.; and six grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Rock Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, 631 Rock Springs Road, Lula, GA 30554.
Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.

MRS. SCROGGS
Homemaker
BALDWIN - Mrs. Ruby Smith McConnell Scroggs, 86, died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at Habersham County Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Scroggs was born in Banks County on March 7, 1914, a daughter of the late John E. Smith and Sally Boling Smith.
She was a homemaker and a member of Double Springs Baptist Church. Mrs. Scroggs was preceded in death by her first husband, Perry James McConnell, and her second husband, Bascom Fred Scroggs.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 5, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with the Rev. Luther Williams officiating. Burial was in Yonah .Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty Ann Copeland, Douglasville; two sons, Ralph Edward McConnell, Baldwin, and Kenneth John McConnell, Mt. Airy; one brother, Fred E. Smith, Demorest; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.
