BILLIE EVELYN THOMAS

Mrs. Billie Evelyn Thomas age 75 of McDonough, GA. formerly of Blairsville passed away on Friday July 18, 2008 in the Sacred Journey Hospice following an extended illness.

Surviving Mrs. Thomas are one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Sandra Thomas of McDonough, GA, grandsons, James and Zackary Thomas, both of McDonough, one brother and sister-in-law, Bobby Joe and Colleen Holloway of Jackson, GA, nephews, Ronnie Holloway, Billy Ray Holloway and Steve Holloway, one niece, Mary Ann Peppers of Jackson, GA, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Monday July 21, 2008 at 11:00am from the Pope Dixon Funeral Home Chapel in Morrow, GA, with the Rev. Andrew Ragan officiating. Interment and graveside services will be held on Monday at 4:00pm from Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery in Blairsville with Rev. Luther Thomas officiating. The family will meet with friends on Sunday evening from 4-6pm at the Pope Dixon Funeral Home In Morrow.

Infant Olivia Grace Blessing

Infant Olivia Grace Blessing, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013 At Union General Hospital

Survivors include her mother, Ronda Nix of Blairsville, father, Jeremy Blessing of Blairsville, maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Renee Nix of Blairsville, paternal grandmother, Luanne Banks of Blairsville, paternal grandfather, Charles Blessing of Dade City, FL, two aunts and many other family members also survive.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 31, 2013 at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Gary Guffey officiating.

Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements.

Mark Robert Haarbauer

Mr. Mark Robert Haarbauer age 62 of Holly Cove Circle formerly of Cape Coral, FL. passed away peacefully at his home on Friday May 31, 2013 following an extended illness. Mr. Haarbauer was born on Nov. 3, 1950 in McKee’s Port, PA, the son of the late Ray Nagy and the late Deloris Guffey Haarbauer. Mark had served as a Police Officer with the Maumee Police Department for over sixteen years. He was chosen as officer of the year and was the first officer to graduate with a Bachelors Degree in Criminology. He loved trains, plane and automobiles. He was a loving husband, father and brother. Mark was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving Mark are his loving wife of forty two years, Barbara Ellen Kampfer Haarbauer of Blairsville, two daughters, Elizabeth Haarbauer of Cape Coral, FL, Kelsey Haarbauer of Blairsville, three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Marcia and Pat MaFai of Mill Valley, CA, Linda Haarbauer of Pittsburg, PA, Polly and Joe DeLucia of Pleasanton, CA, one brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Cindy Haarbauer of Pittsburg, PA, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Union County Food Bank in Mr. Haarbauer’s memory.

Sammy Henson

Mr. Sammy Henson, age 70, of Bradley Acres Rd., Blairsville passed away Friday, May 31, 2013 from a sudden illness. Sammy was a life long resident of Union County. He was a loving husband, dad and papa to his family. He was a lover of his gospel music and played his guitar for many groups, the last being Copper City Quartet for the last 17 years. He loved working in his yard and his wood crafts that he made. Sammy enjoyed life fully. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Sammy was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Adele Henson, 2 brothers, Junior and Audie Henson. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Sammy is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Joyce Henson of Blairsville, son and daughter-in-law, Stevie and Amanda Henson of Blairsville, daughter, Jeannie Henson of Raleigh, NC, 3 grandchildren, Clarissa, Coty and Seth Henson, 1 step-granddaughter, Stephanie Arrowood, 1 great granddaughter, Aubrey Henson, 2 nieces, Janie Walls and Debbie Rice, sister-in-law, Mary Henson and his aunt, Marie Brown, many other relatives also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Hooper and Rev. Tommy Seay officiating. Music will be provided by the Caylor Family and Ralph Grice. Pallbearers will be Larry Henderson, Russell Fortenberry, Coty Henson, Mike Pirkle, Brian Ledford and Gene Rice. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Ledford and Doug Mason. Interment will follow in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, June 3rd from 3:00 until 9:00 p.m.

Guy Owenby

Mr. Guy Owenby, age 64, of Garrett Rd., Blairsville passed away Sunday, June 2, 2013 at Union General Hospital following a sudden Illness. He was born January 14, 1949 in Blairsville, GA to the late Dwight and Fannie Henson Owenby. Guy was a Godly man saved by Grace and loved his Lord. He loved planting and growing flowers. Guy was a loving father, brother and grandfather. He was a huge Elvis Fan. He was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Owenby, sister, Joy Garrett and niece, Tonya Parker Tanner. Guy was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, William and Crystal Owenby of Blairsville, one daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and Brian Pattee of Blairsville, sisters, Joan and Charles Totherow of Blairsville, Betty Rhodes of Blairsville, Judy and Ronnie Kelley of Blairsville, Brenda Davenport of Blairsville and Linda and Ricky Towe of Oakwood, brothers, Danny and Debbie Owenby of Blairsville, Ricky and Tracy Owenby of Blairsville, Ronnie and Debbie Owenby of Blairsville, Charles and Nina Owenby of Covington and Lucky Owenby of Blairsville, six grandchildren, Austin Pattee, Haylie Pattee, Jade Austin, Eva Austin, Malachi Owenby and Inara Owenby.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Seay officiating. Pallbearers will be Steve Owenby, Tracy Collins, Todd Collins, Terry Kelley, Kyle Owenby, Kody Owenby and Kolt Owenby. Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Pattee and Malachi Owenby. Interment will follow in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 9:00 p.m.

Rev. Billy Ray Anderson

Rev. Billy Ray Anderson, age 66, of Ivy Log Rd, Warne, NC passed away October 8, 2012 at his home following an extended illness. He was born April 7, 1946 in Union County. Rev. Billy was a lifelong resident of Clay County and was an ordained Baptist Minister. He had worked for many years as a mechanic at Nelson Tractor. Rev. Billy was a member of River Valley Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Anderson and brother, Troy Anderson.

Survivors include his wife Sandra Anderson of Warne, NC, mother, Verda Anderson of Blairsville, GA, daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Genaro Olvera of Warne, NC, brothers, Loster Anderson of Warne, NC, Cecil and Janice Anderson of Warne, NC, Ricky and Jeanie Anderson of Blairsville, GA, Dwight and Linda Anderson of Blairsville, GA, sisters, Christine Gilbert Anderson of Warne, NC, Mary Jo and Charles King of Blairsville, GA, Marie and Doug Chastain of Murphy, NC, Dorothy and Tommy Dockery of Blairsville, GA, Della and Jim Wiles of Homer, GA, grandchildren, Jose, Migel, Carlos, Ariana and Antonio Olvera.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at River Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Waymon Lovell and Rev. Emory Samples officiating. Music will be by Annie Jean Garland and Cody Cantrell. Pallbearers will be Gearld Denton, Michael Denton, Jamie Dockery, Devin Dockery, Shawn Chastain and Johnny Chastain. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Davis, Gerald Davenport, Jerry Mathis, Charles Raper, Doyle Brown and Ricky Brown. Interment will follow in River Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers if you wish the family suggest donations be made to help defray expenses. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m.

HELEN HOLLOWAY

Mrs. Helen Irene Holloway age 80 of Caylee Anne Drive Blairsville passed away peacefully on Thursday October 11, 2012 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Holloway was born on April 16, 1932 in Pleasant Plains, IL, the daughter of the late Harold Zick and the late Ruby Harris Zick. Before her retirement Helen had been an R.N. for several years and received several awards throughout her career. Helen was always a hard worker who loved her family and enjoyed gardening in her spare time. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Robert Holloway in 2012. Mrs. Holloway was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving Mrs. Holloway are her loving husband of sixty two years, Jack Holloway of Blairsville, two sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Marla Holloway of Hanna City, IL, John and Kathleen Holloway of Naples, FL, one sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Evert Hansen of Donna, TX, nine grandchildren, Chad, Becki, Marissa, Morgan, Corazon, Turner, Angie and Andy Holloway and Megan Brown, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held at a later date with interment to follow in the Marissa Cemetery in Marissa, IL. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to Regency Hospice of Hiawassee in Helen’s memory.

NANCY JENNIFER CLAYTON

Mrs. Nancy Jennifer Clayton age 65 of Tate Rd. Blairsville formerly of Marietta passed away on Thursday October 11, 2012 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Clayton was born on March 2, 1947 in Atlanta, GA, the daughter of the late Hubert Visscher and the late Jean Campbell Visscher. Nancy was a loving mother, sister and grandmother. Mrs. Clayton was of the Presbyterian faith.

Surviving Mrs. Clayton are one daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Tim Powell of Marietta, two sons, Shawn Clayton of Marietta and Nick Jones of Marietta, three brothers and two sisters-in-law, David and Judy Visscher of Lilburn, GA, Bruce Visscher of Greensboro, NC, Ralph and Stephanie Visscher of Chicago, IL, two grandchildren, Bryan Powell and Andrew Powell, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to a favorite church of your choice in Mrs. Clayton’s memory.
