Bessie M. Aller, 78, 1514 Quail Ridge Ct. SW died Saturday, April 1, 2006 at her home following a long illness. Services: 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4PM to 8PM.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Quaas Max of Decorah; two sons, Ron Aller Kathy of Philedelphia, PA and Mark Aller Cindy of Inverness, FL; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Dvorsky of Central City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Rudolph Jr.
Bessie was born April 8, 1927 in Seward, Nebraska, the daughter of Rudolph and Albina Kovar Nemec. She worked at Rockwell Collins for 24 years. She was a member of the Cedar Rapids Women's Bowling Association for 30 years, a member of the 500/600 Bowling Club, and the Hawkeye 600 Bowling Club. Bessie was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a great cook and loved flowers. Bessie also had really great friends.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of St. Luke's.

Virda "Pat" Maria Argo

Virda M. "Pat" Argo, 73, of Cedar Rapids died April 17, 2006 following a sudden illness. Friends are invited to a Memorial Service and Celebration of Life Ceremony at Elks Lodge, 801 33rd Ave. S.W. on Thursday, April 20, 2006 at 2 PM. Rev. William B. Harnish will officiate.
Survivors include her loving husband of 55 years Robert L. Argo; two children, Scott of Park View, IA, and Diana Terry Harford of Marion; four grandchildren Bradley Kristy Emerson of Clear Lake, Kari Brandon Gourley of Wichita, KS., Ami Price of Phoenix, AZ, and Daniel Batey of Marion; and four great-grandchildren Ryan and Braydon Emerson, and Tyler and Kayli Nikkel. She is also survived by her sister June Glen Richardson of Sun City West, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and three brothers.
Virda Maria "Pat" Argo was born September 16, 1931 the beloved daughter of George Bonnie Archer in Farragut, IA. She married Robert L. Argo on September 2, 1950 at Munterville, IA. She was employed at Square D in Human Resources for 32 years, retiring in 1990. She was loyal in supporting the Elk's Lodge and loved her roses. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be greatly missed by all

Elizabeth "Libby" DowsPhoenix AZ Arnold
Born in Cedar Rapids, IA on April 6, 1952
Departed on April 21, 2006. Resided in Phoenix, AZ.
Elizabeth "Libby" Dows Arnold, 54, of Phoenix, Arizona and a former resident of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, April 21, 2006 at the Scottsdale Healthcare/Shea Hospital in Scottsdale, Arizona from complications from multiple sclerosis. Private family services were held in Phoenix, Arizona.
Surviving are 3 sisters, Margaret A. Contard and husband Chris of Liverpool, New York, Helen B. Arnold of Cedar Rapids, and Mary G. Arnold of Rocklin, California, a brother, Duane Arnold Jr. and wife Colleen of Cedar Rapids, special friend, Wayne "Skip" Morrison of Phoenix, Arizona, aunts; Janice Arnold of San Jose, California, Nellie Dows of Camp Verde, Arizona and Judith Dows of Allenspark, Colorado, an uncle, Rev. Gary Arnold and wife Jane of Longmont, Colorado plus numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, uncles & aunts, Max Arnold; Milt & Cleta Grosenbach; Peter Dows; Sutherland Dows; cousins Marilyn Arnold Brazda and Peter A. Dows.
She was born April 6, 1952 in Cedar Rapids to Duane and Henrietta Dows Arnold Sr. and moved to Phoenix in 1977. A graduate of Washington High School in 1970, she attended William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
She had formerly been employed with Siebke & Hoyt Jewelers, Perpetual Savings & Loan in Cedar Rapids, Arizona Public Service in Phoenix, Arizona, Designs by Sami, Fountain Hills, Arizona and Pickard Travel in Phoenix.
Her life interest revolved around family and friends, traveling, needle pointing and reading books.
Friends may direct memorial contributions to the Community Health Free Clinic, 947 14th Ave. S.E., Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52401 or a charity of their choice.

Edward J. "Doc" Bernacki
Born in Akron, Ohio on April 7, 1924

Edward Joseph “Doc” Bernacki, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, March 14, 2010, at his sons home rural North Liberty, Iowa. Services with military honors will be held at 1 PM Thursday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Inurnment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Wednesday in Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Ed was born April 7, 1924 in Akron, Ohio to Anthony and Julia Welsh Bernacki. He first married Wanda Mabel Farmer in 1944. She died in 1970. Ed and Wanda moved to Cedar Rapids in 1963. They had five children, Deborah Jo Stevens and husband Reed. Deb preceded Ed in death. Her children are Steve Geske, Stephanie Geske, and Stacy Fortson; Beth Hiner and husband Jake of Springville, and their children Kris Jacobs and significant other Katie and their daughter Kailee Ann, Jason and Karin Martin-Hiner, their son Gabriel and daughter Mikayla, and Melissa and Brian Reynolds; Daniel Bernacki wife Rhonda of North Liberty, his children Nate Bernacki and wife Danette, their children Rachel, Emily, and Ashley, Jordan Bernacki and wife Caylene, Dustin Bernacki and wife Jennifer, and Brianne Cummins and husband Brad; David Bernacki and wife Ronda Kern of Walford, their daughter Whitney Bernacki; Jess Bernacki and significant other Charlie Hayzlett of Hazelton;, and a special son of the heart originally of the Philippines, Juanito “Little Jo” Page. Ed’s second marriage was to Doris Hite in 1973. She died in 2002. Ed was a step-parent to Doris’s three sons Richard Hite and significant other Jo, their children Kelly, her son Keith Coppernoll, and Shawnna and Mark Sailor and their son Zachary; Terry Hite of Kansas, and daughter Heather; Bruce Hite and wife Amy of Evansdale, their children Brady Hite, Cory Hite and wife Karinda and their children James Donald, and Jacob Henle, and Jasmine Hite; Joel Hite and wife April; Rebecca Hite.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Julia Bernacki, his in-laws Mack and Arva Farmer, a brother William and wife Betty Bernacki, two sisters Eilene and Steven Bates, and Pauline and Benny Gryvalsky, daughter Deborah Jo Stevens, grandson Jason Hite, and nephew Pat Gryvalsky.
Ed served in the US Army during WW II. He worked as a salesman for many years.
Military honors by Iowa National Guard Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Mercy.

Thelma M. Arnold

Thelma M. Arnold, 78, of Marion died Thursday, June 8, 2006 at the Hiawatha Care Center following a long illness. Services: 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 5PMto 7PM at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Kunz of Marion Christian Church will officiate.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra McElree and husband William and Linda Elliott and husband John all of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Daniel of Marion and Dennis and wife Sue of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Nicole Cassidy, Travis Brown, Colleen Arnold and Christie Arnold.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald, and a brother Earl Baldridge.
Thelma was born April 27, 1928 in Warsaw, Missouri the daughter of Arthur and Katie Gregory Baldridge. She married Donald M. Arnold on March 21, 1950 in Independence. Thelma was an inspector at Rockwell Collins, retiring in 1986, after 25 years. She was a member of Marion Christian Church. Thelma loved her family, enjoyed gardening, cooking, needlework and birds.
Thelma's family would like to thank the staff at the Hiawatha Care Center for their love and support.

Marsha A. Lenth Abney

Marsha A. Lenth Abney, 56, of 740 30th Street Dr. SE, died Saturday, June 17, 2006, in her home from cancer. Services at 1 PM Wednesday in Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Rev. Phil Jorgensen officiating. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday and at the church after 12:30 PM on Wednesday.
Survivors include her husband Douglas, son Bryan, sister Mary Paul Wolter of Arlington, Texas, brother Junior Lynn Lenth of Oelwein, Iowa, and nieces and nephews, Robin, Scott, Crissy, Maryjo, Paul G., Teresa, and Dennis. She was preceded in death by her Parents Lloyd and Ferne Lenth and nephew Chad.
Marsha was born July 21, 1949 in Farmersburg, Iowa. She graduated from Elkader High School in 1967. She attended Kirkwood Community College and earned an Associate Degree in accounting graduating in 1969. She was employed by McLeod USA in the accounting department. She married Douglas G. Abney on June 14, 1975 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids.
Marsha was especially proud of their son Bryan and his accomplishments. She was an active member of the Cedar Rapids Corvette Club where she had served as vice president and was currently the treasurer. She loved to travel and cruise with her CRCC friends.
Marsha was very much loved by her family and friends and will be deeply missed.
A memorial fund has been established.

Rosemarie Louise Allan
Born in Boston, Massachusetts on July 1, 1931
Departed on May 21, 2007. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.
Rosemarie L. Allan, 75, of 2018 Park Avenue S.E., died Monday May 21, 2007, in St. Luke's Hospital following a long illness. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Massachusetts. Cedar Memorial-Grant Wood Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her children, Jim Jean Allan of Altoona, Iowa, Trish Allan of Cedar Rapids, and Jean Allan of Atlanta, Georgia, her siblings, Elizabeth Adey of Plymouth, Massachusetts, and Ernest Voegtlin of Viera, Florida. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Justin Allan of Ames and Jennifer Allan of Altoona.
Her parents, a sister, Ellen Whyte and a brother, Bob Voegtlin preceded her in death.
Rosemarie was born July 1, 1931 in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of Ernest and Marie Oberle Voegtlin. Rosemarie graduated from Emanuel College at the age of 18 in 1951. She married John Allan on October 12, 1951 in Boston, Massachusetts. He died on January 8, 1997. They moved to Cedar Rapids from Massachusetts in 1962. She worked for the Cedar Rapids School System. Rosemarie enjoyed reading, and visiting her family on the east coast.

Eugene LaByron Matteson
BORN: July 24, 1928
DIED: April 26, 2011
LOCATION: Donnellson, Iowa
Eugene LaByron Matteson, 82, of Donnellson, passed away at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at his home.
Born July 24, 1928, at Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Clarence LaByron and Buelah Fern Diton Matteson. On June 23, 1957, at Wapello, Iowa, he married Ruth Irene Hinds.
Survivors include his wife Ruth of Donnellson, Iowa, one son Lyle (Lori) Matteson of Donnellson, Iowa, two daughters Joyce (Scott) Hawes of Montrose, Iowa, Shirley (Steven) Bruckerhoff of Elsberry, Missouri, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one brother Lawrence (Marilyn) Matteson of Moline, Illinois, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Eugene was a lifetime farmer in Lee County, and also worked 53 years as a dirt contractor. He enjoyed working dirt, fishing, and time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed wintering in Texas, good food, and best of all, camping Labor Day weekend.
At his request, his body has been cremated.
Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2011, at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson where the family will meet with friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2011, at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson with Pastor Tom Petersen officiating.
Burial will be in the Embury Cemetery in rural Donnellson.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
