Patricia Gayle Blum, 67, of 1009 East Washington St. in Washington, Iowa formerly of Cedar Rapids died at her home on Monday January 11, 2010. Memorial services at 3:00 PM on Saturday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where friends may call after 2:00 PM on Saturday. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include three children, her mother, two sisters and one brother.
Pat was born on June 12, 1942 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Robert W. and Virginia Anderson Byrne. Pat was a homemaker. She enjoyed collecting dolls, camping, singing and time spent with her family.
A memorial fund has been established.

Clarence W. Allers
Born in Keystone, Iowa on December 5, 1921

Clarence W. Allers, 81, of 436 Teakwood Lane, NE, died Sunday, March 9, 2003, in St. Luke's Hospital following a short illness. Services at 11 AM Wednesday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Thomas E. Hedtke and Vicar Jason Shaw of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Marion will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Tuesday and at the chapel after 10:30 AM on Wednesday.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years Orpha, a son Dan Jo of Cedar Rapids, two daughters Peggy Barron Greg of Blairstown, and Debby Haddy Gary of Cedar Rapids, and 6 grandchildren, Dena, David, Danielle, Catherine, Denise, and Lee, and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Charles.
Clarence was born December 5, 1921 in Keystone, Iowa to William H. and Clara Schluntz Allers. He married Orpha Allen on October 26, 1941 in Belle Plaine, Iowa. He farmed in the Keystone area until 1969 and then moving to Cedar Rapids worked as a welder for Link-Belt Speeder. After his retirement he worked in security at Lindale Mall. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Marion.
Clarence was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Courageous of Iowa, 12007 190th Street, Monticello, Iowa 52310.

Ralph P. Arens

Ralph P. Arens, 84, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2011 at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church by the Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church Columbarium. Visitation will be from 4 until 6 PM on Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife Marian; sons Gregory (Lori) Arens of Covington, WA and Douglas (Kimberly) Arens of Roseville, CA; sisters Doris (Clarence) Woods of Placerville, CA and Ruth Holm of Cedar Rapids; and three grandchildren Kaitlin, Logan, and Lauen Arens.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents Otto and Matilda Arens.
Ralph was born February 26, 1927 in Harvey, IL the son of Otto and Matilda (Schneider) Arens. He married Marian Jeanette Bratt on October 18, 1952 in St. Cloud, MN. Ralph was a United States Navy veteran of WWII. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1951 and worked for Rockwell Collins as an electronic engineer retiring after 30 years of service. He was a member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. He enjoyed cooking, fishing at his cabin on Long Lake in Minnesota, and volunteering for the Rockwell Retirees and the Heritage Agency on Aging Services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be directed to the American Cancer Society or to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

Virginia Nowlan, M.
July 8, 1943 - January 9, 2015
Keokuk, Iowa
Virginia M. Nowlan, 71, of River Hills Village in Keokuk, Iowa, passed away at 5:03 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2015 at the Keokuk Area Hospital.
Born July 8, 1943 in Donnellson the daughter of Richard and Inez (Wardlow) Koch. In 1963 she married Leland Squires. They later divorced.
She spent most of her adult life in Chicago, Illinois working in the printing industry, including Metro Mail, Bankers Life and L&M; Bindry.
She later married Lewis Nowlan in Chicago.
Ginny loved spending time with old friends and making new friends. She loved to dine out and was always an avid card player.
Survivors include her brother Harvey (Jean) Koch, niece Melissa (Mathew) Koch Nahan and nephew Axel Koch Nahan. She is also survived by her stepdaughter Debbie Lang of Omaha, Nebraska and stepsons Steven, David and Keith Nowlan with respective spouses , all of the Chicago area.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lewis and one stepson, Craig.
The family would like to thank the staff at River Hills Care Center and Dr. Will Davis for the loving care that they gave to Ginny during the past several years.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July, 28, 2015 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson with Reverend David Turner officiating.
Burial will be at Donnell Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Donnell Cemetery.

Norman Lawrence, 67, Keokuk
Norman L. Lawrence, 67, of Keokuk, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017, at River Hills Village in Keokuk.
Norman was born on Dec. 22, 1950, in Boston, Mass.
He worked as a chef, and he was a fan of the New England Patriots and the Red Sox. Norman enjoyed spending time going to casinos.
Cremation has taken place, and no services will be held at this time.
DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Centers in Keokuk is in charge of arrangements.

Valerie Williams, 27, Springfield, Mo.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Valerie Lynn Williams of Springfield, Mo., along with her unborn daughter, died Wednesday, March 1, 2017, in Springfield.
She was born Sept. 10, 1989, in Quincy, Ill., the daughter of Danny Buntin and Lisa Barnes.
She was engaged to Marc DeLaFuente and to this union Aidan was born. She then married Mike Williams on April 9, 2015, and to this union Grayson was born. They later divorced.
Valerie worked as a timeshare salesman in Branson. She also enjoyed modeling part time.
She was of the Catholic faith.
Valerie loved being a mother to her children as they were the light of her life. She loved spending time with her Grandma Nellie. Valerie enjoyed working out, running and dancing in her spare time. She had a love for music and shopping.
She is survived by her two sons, Aidan DeLaFuente and Grayson Williams, both of Springfield; her dad, Danny (Cindy) Buntin of Wayland, Mo.; her mom, Lisa Barnes of Wayland; sister, Tiffanie (Ralph) West Bennett of Keokuk; two brothers, Johnathan (Jessica) West of Keokuk and James (Briana) West of Alexandria, Mo.; paternal grandparents, Bill and Nellie Buntin of Kahoka, Mo.; and maternal grandparents, Jim and Mary Barnes of Luray, Mo.; six uncles, Billy (Joe) Buntin of Hannibal, Mo., Todd Rockelman of Alexandria, Shane Rockelman and Sean Rockelman, both of Keokuk, Michael Barnes (Diana Hooper) of Luray and Mark (Jamie) Barnes of Kansas City; two aunts, Kirsty Teeters of Burlington and Laurie (Randy) Broughton of Thailand; and many nieces and nephews, including special niece, Brooke West; and cousins, friends and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by an aunt, Mary Rockelman.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka, with Pastor Ray Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow in Kahoka Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the family meeting with friends from 5 to 8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to her sons, Aidan and Grayson.

Connie R. Brems
Born in Dubuque, Iowa on November 10, 1920
Departed on January 10, 2010. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Connie R. Brems, 89, of Cedar Rapids died Sunday, January 10, 2010 after a short illness. Funeral Mass: 10:30 AM Wednesday at All Saints Catholic Church. Rev. David O’Connor will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Tuesday where there will be a vigil service at 6:00 PM.
Survivors include three sons, Jim (Deanna) of Cedar Rapids, Bob (Colleen) of Iowa City and Tom (Pam) of Atlanta, Georgia. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Ryan (Carla), Joe, Mike (Vicki), Matt, Meghan and Jenny Brems, and five great grandchildren, Frank, A.J., Jaxon, Sophia and Lucas. She was preceded in death by her husband Francis, two grandsons, Alex and Ryan and three sisters, Marian, Isabell and Kathleen.
Connie was born on November 10, 1920 in Dubuque, the daughter of Conrad and Isabell Mohr Wiehl. She married Francis J. Brems on November 24, 1945 in Dubuque. He died in 2008. Connie was a member of All Saints Catholic Church. She was an avid bridge player who was member of many local bridge clubs. Connie participated in bridge marathons from 1977 to 2006, consistently placing 1st or 2nd. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by her many friends and beloved family.
Memorial donations may be given to All Saints Catholic Church or to Camp Courageous in Connie’s name.

Thomas "Tom" Nelson, 69, Hamilton, Ill.
HAMILTON, Ill. – Thomas M. “Tom” Nelson, 69, of Hamilton, Ill., formerly of Kewanee, Ill., passed away at 2:39 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at his home, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Tom was born Nov. 4, 1947, the son of John and Helen Hand Nelson in Kewanee, Ill.
On Oct. 24, 1980, he was united in marriage to Carol Klemore in Galena, Ill. She survives.
Tom worked in the telephone business most of his life. He was an avid golfer. He also loved being outdoors and fishing with his best friend, Tom Weston.
Tom is survived by his wife, Carol of Hamilton; a daughter, Rhonda (Brian) Phillips of Litchfield Park, Ariz.; a son, Lee Sawyer of Glendale, Ariz.; two grandsons, Kole Sawyer and Drew Phillips; two granddaughters, Kelsey Phillips and Mya Amacher; a very special stepdaughter, Shannan Amacher of Arena, Wis.; two brothers, Ronald (Joni) Nelson of Jacksonville, Fla., and Bob (Judy) Nelson of Bloomington, Ill.; and two sisters, Connie Erickson and Bonnie Brody of Kewanee.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 25, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Carthage, Ill.
Printy Funeral Home in Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
