Coletta A. Bender, 67, of 280 Thunderbird Rd. SE, died Friday evening, April 26, 2002, in her home surrounded by her loving family. Services: 10 AM Tuesday at First Congregational Church by Rev. Matthew W. Noffke, Rev. Dr. Glenn D. Hunt, and Pastor Barbra A. Keiper. Inurnment in Chapel of Memories Mausoleum in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Monday and at the church after 9:30 AM on Tuesday.
Her family includes her husband, The Rev. Dr. Glenn N. Bender, a daughter Melanie Bender of Arlington Heights, Illinois; a son, Clark Bender and wife Kim Kerbis of Denver, Colorado; a brother, Ernest Kratz and wife Marilyn of Yankton, South Dakota; a sister Kay and husband Glenn Schoenfish, of Kansas City, Kansas; a sister Marsha and husband Rollie Beran of Crofton, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Coletta was born September 26, 1934 in Olivet, South Dakota, to Clarence R. and Helen Lundborg Kratz. She married Glenn N. Bender on December 23, 1953, in Olivet.
Coletta worked as an executive secretary in Alaska, South Dakota, and Wisconsin, and as a representative for Welcome Wagon International in Iowa for 16 years.
Her education was in liberal arts and literature. She was gracious, intelligent, well-read, insightful, and had a great sense of humor. Coletta loved music and was an accomplished pianist.
She belonged to The PEO Sisterhood, Chapter LU. She was a member of First Congregational Church and a faithful partner with her husband in the Christian ministry.
Coletta loved her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial fund has been established.

Marlis Dorothy Binger
Born in Rapid City, S. Dakota on October 15, 1939
Departed on May 19, 2002. Resided in Marion, IA.

Marlis Dorothy Binger, 62, of 3430 27th Ave, Marion, formerly of Rapid City, South Dakota, died Sunday, May 19, 2002, in her home following a long illness. Memorial services at 1 PM Friday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Friends may register at the chapel after 12:30 PM on Friday. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Survivors include three sons Douglas K. Binger of Cedar Rapids, Richard A. Binger and wife Carmen of Lino Lakes, Minnesota, and Jeffery S. Binger and fiance' Troylynn of Marion, her sister Shirley Joanne Dahn and husband Eugene of Rapid City, South Dakota, five grandchildren, one great granddaughter, numerous nieces and nephews, and her special friend Joanne. She was preceded in death by her Parents.
Marlis was born October 15, 1939 in Rapid City, South Dakota to Eugene Edward and Martha C. Hansen Lethcoe.
Marlis was an escrow agent for Skogman Realty for several years. She was an avid book reader and a very charitable person. She loved the Black Hills and was a former member of the Canyon Lake United Methodist Church in Rapid City where she had taught Sunday school.
Instead of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, the Diabetes Association, or to the Lung Association.

Garrett Raymond Birkicht
Born in Cedar Rapids on November 11, 1950
Departed on September 5, 2002. Resided in Robins, IA.

Garrett 'Garry' Raymond Birkicht, 51, of 355 Brougham Rd, Robins, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died in his home on Thursday September 5, 2002 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Services: 11:00 A.M. Monday at Faith Lutheran Church by the Rev. John Albertson.
Entombment: Private at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call on Cedar Memorial Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Survivors include his wife Julie Bartels Birkicht, children, Ryan, Kylie and Keegan Birkicht all at home, Jenny Carr and husband Al of Cedar Rapids, Cory Birkicht and wife Sonya of Cedar Rapids and Andrea Prohaska and husband Michael of Marion, three brothers, Thomas Birkicht of Cedar Rapids, Kelly Birkicht of Cedar Rapids, Darrin Birkicht of Dunkerton, Iowa, and a sister, Stacey Birkicht French of Cedar Rapids.
Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, Jordan, Jacey, Jurnee, Albert, Alex, Taylor, Taleah, Brianna and Meghan, and best friends, Tim Rogers and George Schulte.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Garry was born November 11, 1950 in Cedar Rapids, the son of William Birkicht and Pauline Ehda Birkicht. He married Donna Astor in March of 1969 and later divorced. He then married Julie Bartels on September 7, 1985 in Cedar Rapids. Garry graduated from Jefferson High School in 1968. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1970. He worked at FMC from 1969 until 1984 when he was laid off. He then returned to Mount Mercy College, where he met his wife Julie. He graduated from there in 1986 with a degree in Accounting and worked in various controller positions in Cedar Rapids and most recently, worked as controller of Barron Motor Supply.
Garry enjoyed baseball, softball, and the St Louis Cardinals. He was a teacher, coach and spectator of his children's sports. He will be remembered for his contagious laughter and sense of humor.
An educational fund has been established by the family.

Lorraine A. Brown
Born in Rowley, Iowa on December 16, 1918
Departed on October 12, 2002. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

: Lorraine A. 'Pat' Brown, 83, of Modesto, California, formerly of Weslaco, Texas and Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, October 12, 2002 in Modesto after a lengthy illness. Memorial services will be at 1 PM Monday, November 4, 2002, in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories where friends may call after Noon on Monday. Christopher McAtee will officiate. Inurnment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a daughter JoAnn McAtee of Modesto, California, a son James McAtee and wife Ann of Davenport, a stepdaughter Sheila Brown Janda and husband Don of Cedar Rapids, 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Robert McAtee, her last husband of 29 years Clyde Brown, two brothers and one sister, one son and one daughter.
Born December 16, 1918, in Rowley, Iowa the daughter of Anna and James Mallory she was retired with Penick and Ford in Cedar Rapids. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Weslaco, Texas, where she was active in friendship and Sunday school. Lorraine enjoyed many years of bowling, fishing, and being with friends.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, American Heart Association or your favorite charity.

Kenneth M. Babbitt
Born in West Liberty, IA on October 10, 1914
Departed on October 29, 2002. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Kenneth M. Babbitt, 88, of Cottage Grove Place died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002, at Mercy Hallmar after a brief illness. Services will be at 1 PM on Saturday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories where there will also be military rites. Entombment will be at the Cedar Memorial Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Friday and at the Chapel after noon on Saturday.

James Arthur Barlow
Born in Minneapolis on October 16, 1928
Departed on November 11, 2002. Resided in Santa Barbara, CA.

James Arthur Barlow, 74, of Santa Barbara, California, and a former resident of Cedar Rapids, died Monday at the Devereux School in Santa Barbara, following a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Monday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by Rev. Larry Hayward of First Presbyterian Church. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, and at the Chapel of Memories after 10 a.m. on Monday. The casket will be closed the day of the service.

Surviving is his brother, John Barlow and wife Mary Jane of Cedar Rapids, and two nieces, Elizabeth Putnam of Eastham, Massachusetts and Susan Toll of Boulder, Colorado.

He was born on October 16, 1928 in Minneapolis to Arthur and Mildred Lamey Barlow and was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids and now the First Presbyterian Church in Goleta, California. He was a volunteer at the Goleta Valley Hospital and participated in the Special Olympics held in California. He was a former member of the Crescent Masonic Lodge # 25.

Friends may, if they wish, make contributions to the American Cancer Society or the Devereux Foundation, P.O. Box 6784, Santa Barbara, California 93160.

Nathaniel Frederick Borelli
Born in Cedar Rapids on June 4, 2002
Departed on November 14, 2002. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Nathaniel 'Nate' Frederick Borelli, 5-month-old son of Ted and Tricia Borelli died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002 at Mercy Medical Center after a sudden illness. Services will be at 10 AM on Monday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church. Rev. Neil Manternach will officiate. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 2 to 5 PM on Sunday where there will be a vigil service at 3 pm.
Survivors include his parents, his three year old brother, Owen, at home, grandparents, Robert and Judy Borelli, Jerry and Dee Sullivan all o f Cedar Rapids, great grandparents, Frank and Kathryn McGrath of Sterling, ILL., Virginia Borelli of Dixon, ILL. aunts and uncles, Megan and Mike Beenblossom and their children Michael and Cameron, Rob and Julie Borelli and their son Corbin and, Bridget Borelli Scales and her husband Casey who were also Nates God Parents.
Nate was born on June 4, 2002 in Cedar Rapids. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in his name.
God Gave us a beautiful treasure-our angel Nate, he was a gift to all and the pride and joy of his parents and brother, Owen, who called him Naterbug. He warmed the hearts of all with his bright smile and beautiful brown eyes. Thank you God for his beautiful life that we shared and now will live with you forever. We love you Naterbug.

Mary Lou Bridge
Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on October 26, 1927
Departed on November 15, 2002. Resided in Hiawatha, IA.

Mary Lou Bridge: 75 of 4845 Johnson Avenue NW went to be with the Lord early Friday morning November 14. She died peacefully at her sister's home in Hiawatha amongst family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 18, at The Church of God of Prophecy with Roger Hiles officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the church after 9 a.m. on Monday. The casket will be closed prior to the service.
Mary Lou is survived by a son, Kevin J. Bridge of Wheatridge, Colorado, a brother Larry Bridge and wife Jayne of Scottsdale, Arizona, three sisters Dorothy Kautz and husband Bill of North Platte, Nebraska, Billie Kraus and husband Walter of Cedar Rapids and JoAnn Sisco and husband Gerald of Hiawatha, Iowa, and two grandsons, James Earl Bridge and Michael Kee Bridge both of Mead, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Jim Bridge.
Mary Lou was born October 26, 1927 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of James and Gladys Johnson Bridge. She graduated from Roosevelt High School and was a member of The Church of God of Prophecy. She was active in the Witwer Senior Center's Writers Club. She was employed at Rockwell-Collins for 31 years as an assembly operator, retiring in 1985. Mary Lou always extended her hands of friendship and caring to many people in her community.
In her memory, the family requests that you simply reach out to help someone in need.
