Robert L. Bowen, 85, of Anamosa, formerly of Marion, died Friday, July 30, 2004, in the Anamosa Care Center following a long illness. Services at 1 PM Tuesday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Dave Higdon will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Monday and at the chapel after 12:30 PM on Tuesday.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 64 years, Mable, a daughter Pam Silver and husband Wayne of Cedar Rapids, six grandsons, Jeffery Silver and wife Melinda of Lisbon, Robert Silver, Shawn Silver and wife Amy, and Cory Silver all of Cedar Rapids, Bill Bowen of Afton, Iowa, and Doug Bowen of Arvada, Colorado, and a daughter in law Helen McNaught of Afton, Iowa. He was preceded in death by a son David and two brothers Harold and Cecil.
Robert was born June 14, 1919 in Linn County to Robert and Mary Firetag Bowen. He married Mable Carlson on August 16, 1940 in Cedar Rapids. He retired from farming in 1986 after 45 years. He enjoyed flowers, gardening, tree planting, and like to travel. For may years he was a member of Farm Bureau.
A memorial fund has been established.

Charles ''Harold'' Bean
Born in Cedar Rapids, IA on February 16, 1914
Departed on August 10, 2004. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Charles "Harold" Bean, 90, a resident of Living Center West, died there Tuesday, August 10, 2004, following a long illness. Services at 1 PM Friday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday and at the chapel after 12:30 PM on Friday.
Survivors include a son Charles E. Bean and his companion Eugenia Ebel and Eugenia's daughter Belinda Ebel, and a daughter Pearl Johnson and husband Michael all of Cedar Rapids, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers Lester, and James Ralph, and a sister Angeline Little.
Charles "Harold" was born February 16, 1914 in Cedar Rapids to Roburtis and Minnie G. Stanley Bean. He married Leona V. Stevens on June 29, 1940 in Boone, Iowa. She died April 17, 1993. Charles was a bus mechanic for Cedar Rapids City Lines, Cedar Rapids School District, City of Cedar Rapids Bus, and City of Coralville Transit.
A memorial fund has been established.

Samuel C. Butler
Born in Omaha, NE. on October 8, 1926
Departed on August 31, 2004. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Samuel C. Butler, 77, of 4840 Ford Ave. NW died Tuesday Aug. 31, 2004 at Mercy medical Center after a long illness. Services at 11 AM on Friday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Ken Glandorf will officiate. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery where there will also be military rites. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday and at the Chapel after 10:30 AM on Friday.
Survivors include his wife, Pat, a son, Don and his wife, Deb. of Plano, TX., two daughters, Sandy Kaufhold and her husband, Allen and Barbara Achey and her husband, Mike, all of Cedar Rapids and a niece, who he helped to raise, Debi Schliesman of Irving, TX. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Jodi, Jami, Jessica, Mariah and Danielle, five great grandchildren, Dakota, Tanner, Stryder, Mekenna and Matt. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Samuel and a granddaughter, Bridget Achey.
Sam was born on Oct. 8, 1926 in Omaha, NE. the son of Clyde and Matilda Stinson Butler. He married Patricia E. French on Jan. 20, 1950 in Louisville, KY. Sam was a test technician at Collins for 32 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Eagles Club, the Moose Lodge and proudly served in the Army during WWII. Sam enjoyed bowling, camping, fishing, wood working and time spent with his family, especially playing softball with the kids. A memorial fund has been established in Sam's name. Military rites by American Legion Hanford Post No. 5.

Mildred Marie Boddicker
Born in Newhall, Iowa on July 29, 1909
Departed on November 7, 2004. Resided in Vinton, IA.

Cemetery: Watkins Cemetery
Mildred Marie Boddicker, 95, a resident of Virginia Gay Annex, Vinton, died there Sunday November 7, 2004 following a short illness. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Newhall, where friends may call after 9:00 a.m. The Rev. Paul Baldwin will officiate. Burial: Watkins Cemetery in Watkins. Turner West Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include a sister in law, Luella Johnson of Newhall, brother in laws, Larry Lawrence Werning, and George Fahnle and wife Gearldine of Newhall.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arleigh, a brother, Loren Seeman and her parents.
Mildred was born July 29, 1909 in Newhall the daughter of John and Mabel DeKlotz Seeman. Arleigh and Mildred were married in Newhall. He died in August of 2000. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Newhall.

Irene Bennett
Born in Riverton, Iowa on September 2, 1915
Departed on November 9, 2004. Resided in Marion, IA.

Service: Friday, November 12, 2004

Irene Bennett, 89, of Village Ridge in Marion, died Tuesday morning, November 9, at Village Ridge from a lingering illness. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 12 at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer of St. Paul's United Methodist Church officiating. Inurnment will be in Farragut Cemetery in Farragut, Iowa. Friends may call at the chapel on Friday after 12:30.
Irene is survived by her son, Richard Bennett and wife Lani of Waukee, Iowa and a daughter, Bonnie K. Schmidt and husband Roger of Cedar Rapids, a grandson, Bradley Bennett and wife Carrie and two great grandsons Cameron and Casey Bennett all of Clive, Iowa, a granddaughter, Brooke Plambeck and husband Matt and a great granddaughter Macy Lettington all of Davenport, Iowa and her extended family at Village Ridge in Marion.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a son Robert Bennett and a sister Mary Louise Howard.
Irene was born September 2, 1915 in Riverton, Iowa, the daughter of George and Lida Mae DeFreece Derrickson. She married Merle A. Bennett on March 21, 1936 in Tabor, Iowa. Merle died December 27, 1995. She worked for a number of years in food service for Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa. Irene was a longtime member of Velda Rose United Methodist Church in Mesa, AZ. Friends may, if they wish, donate to the charity of their choice in Irene's memory.

Velma L. Dlouhy
Born in Linn County on March 30, 1938
Departed on July 19, 2010. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Velma L. Dlouhy, 72, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday July 19, 2010 at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel by the Rev. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the chapel.

Survivors include two sons, Douglas (Cathy) Dlouhy and Daryl Dlouhy; grandchildren, Jason, Alyssa, and Emily Dlouhy; sister Bernice (Milford) Collingwood; a sister-in-law, Helen Barta; and her dog, “Champ”. She was preceded in death by her brother, Elmer Barta; and special friend, Jerome “Rome” Welter.

Velma was born March 30, 1938 in Linn county to Louis and Emily Fisher Barta. She worked for First Trust & Savings Bank for over 38 years. She was a member of the Eagles Club and the National Czech and Slovak Museum. She was an avid Cubs fan and a great cook.

Memorials may be directed to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.

Arlen Robert Buhr
Born in Sumner, Iowa on November 30, 1935
Departed on November 17, 2004. Resided in Marion, IA.

Arlen Robert Buhr, 68, of 1100 West 8th Avenue, Marion, formerly of Sumner, died of cancer, Wednesday, November 17, 2004 in his home. Arnie wished to be cremated. There will be no services. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his mother, Margaret Buhr of Sumner; his wife, Margie; sons Terry and Tony Buhr of Pittsburgh, California; a daughter Teresa Greg Crane of Fairview; and a sister Eunice Allen Alber of Independence.

Also surviving are grandchildren, Jenny Matta, Brenda Douglas Clark, Anthony Douglas, and Shawn Buhr; and a great granddaughter, Taylor Matta.

Arlen was born November 30, 1935 to Reinhardt G. and Margaret Tegmeier Buhr. He married Margie Cummings on March 12, 1954 in St. Peter Lutheran Church in Westgate. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps, serving during the Korean Conflict.

Arnie belonged to the American Legion Post #298 for 35 years. Over the years he was a telephone lineman, worked in construction, at Rockwell Collins, Budweiser and retired from Alside Window Company.

Memorials may be directed to St. Luke's Hospice or the American Legion Post #298 in Marion.

Tracey Lance Butterfield
Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on July 21, 1965
Departed on December 11, 2004. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Tracey Lance Butterfield, 39, 1427 Daniels St. NE died Saturday, December 11, 2004 at Mercy Medical Center following a brief illness. Memorial Service: 3:00 P.M. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Gerald Condon will officiate. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Survivors include his daughter, Jessica Butterfield of Cedar Rapids; his mother, Nancy Kelly and step father, Earl of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Timothy Butterfield of Waubeek and Todd Butterfield of Cedar Rapids; and a sister, Shannon Beck of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Tracey was born July 21, 1965 in Cedar Rapids. He worked for T & K Roofing and belonged to the Roofers Union Local #182 prior to being disabled. He was a member of the Harley Davidson Group.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
