Winifred F.”Wini” Davies, 89, of Heritage Nursing and Rehab died there on Monday November 29, 2010 after a long illness. Services at 1:00 PM on Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 7 PM on Wednesday.
Survivors include a daughter –in-law, Jocile “Jo” Davies, granddaughters Korissa Davies, and Mindy (Dan) Bedel all of Cedar Rapids, great grandchildren, Hannah and Peyton as well as several relatives living in Ireland. She was preceded in death by two her two sons, Lynn and Michael “Mike”, and a sister and a brother.
Wini was born on June 7, 1921 in Portadown, Ireland, the daughter of David and Florence Hughes Topping. She worked in assembly at Square D and retired from there after more than 30 years of service. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Wini enjoyed playing golf, bowling, going for long walks with her dogs, baking and traveling the United States as well as to Ireland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or Mercy Hospice.

Herbert Curtis Berry
Born in Traer, IA on January 10, 1928
Departed on May 22, 2007. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Herbert Curtis Berry, 79, 4214 F Ave NE died Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at his home surrounded by loved ones, following a battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Services: 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Kenwood Park Presbyterian Church. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4PM to 8PM. The Rev. Duane Hix will officiate.

Survivors include a son, Rob Berry Diana of Albuquerque, NM; a daughter, Bobbie Wetz Glenn of Maplewood, MN; a sister, Betty Lynch of Marshalltown; two granddaughters, Jessica Berry of Albuquerque, NM and Zachari Wetz of Maplewood, MN; a very close dear friend, Helga Mayhew of Cedar Rapids; and siblings William, Charles Harry and Sally.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty in 1997, his brothers John Jr. and Richard and sibling Robert.

Herbert was born January 10, 1928 in Traer the son of John F. and Gladys Curtis Berry. He was a 1945 graduate of Toledo High School with the school motto "We Finish To Begin", attended Northwestern State Teachers College in Alva, OK and was a member of the Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity, and graduated from the University of Iowa with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, and was a member of Chi Epsilon Honor Society. He married Betty Jannings on March 4, 1951 in Fairfield. Herbert was a civil engineer at Howard R. Green Consulting Engineers for 27 years, retiring as secretary. He served in the U.S. Navy Construction Battalion SeaBees in the South Pacific Theater of Operation during WW II. He was assigned to the 23rd CB attached to the 3rd Marine Division on Guam and to the 121st CB attached to the 4th Marine Division on Siapan. He achieved the rank of CM3C. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Herb was a past president and life member of the Iowa Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He was a member of Reinig-Friedrichs Post #72 of the American Legion, a delegate to the Sister City Exchange Program to Malawi, Africa in 1984 and the author of the book "The Lure of Fishing". Herb traveled extensively and some memorable trips were with his son to the Amazon Basin, to South Africa, Spain, Australia, Tasmania, Malawi, Canada, Turkey, and the United Kingdom.
Some of Herb's most cherished memories were of his annual trips to Eagle Lake, Ontario spanning the last 20 years.

Larry George Bangs
Born in Shenandoah, IA on May 10, 1934
Departed on June 19, 2007. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Larry George Bangs, 73, 1334 Burch Ave NW died Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital following a long illness. Services are private. Cedar Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Surviving in addition to his wife Bonnie are a daughter, Carrie Ball Bill of Cedar Rapids; a son, Guy Bangs Jennifer of Cedar Rapids; a grandchild, Krista Bangs; three step-grandchildren, Jessica Suchan, Jared Suchan and Megan Bienfang; a step-great grandchild, Trinity Suchan; a brother-in-law, William Kraus, a sister-in-law, Linda Nickle; and a nephew, Tony Nickle.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Larry was born May 10, 1934 in Shenandoah, the son of George and Gladys Everist Bangs. He married Bonnie Kraus on September 4, 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Larry was a welder for F.M.C. for 20 years and then worked for Cedar River Tower until his retirement in 2005. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and also taught Sunday school for several years.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.

Edward C. Bartz, Jr
Born in Peoria, Illinois on October 2, 1949
Departed on June 20, 2007. Resided in Walford, IA.

Edward C. Bartz, Jr. 57, 465 F Ave West, Walford died Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at St. Luke's Hospital following a long illness. Memorial Services: 1:00 P.M. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. William Harnish will officiate.
Surviving in addition to his wife Janet are a sister, Janet Burton Richard of Carmel, IN; a nephew, Chad Burton of Columbia, MO; an aunt; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, a sister Sue Ann Bartz, and his beloved cocker spaniel, Blondie.
Edward was born October 2, 1949 in Peoria, Illinois the son of Edward C. and Jeanette Leischner Bartz, Sr. He married Janet Sue Wells on September 2, 1978 in Cedar Rapids. Ed had worked in hardware at Walmart, and was also in the security and gun business in the past. Ed lived in Cedar Rapids most of his life, until he moved to Walford 10 years ago. He was a member of the National Rifleman's Association.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice of St. Luke's.

Susan Kay Bowman
Born in Cedar Rapids on November 21, 1940
Departed on July 9, 2007. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Susan Kay Bowman, 66, of 2132 E Ave. NE, died July 9, 2007 after a short battle with lung cancer. Funeral Services 3 PM, Monday, July 16, 2007 at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. William B. Harnish will officiate. Friends may call after 2 PM Monday at the chapel. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.

Survivors include her sister Kay Kristin Best and husband Ken of Claremont, MN; her beloved dog Precious; sister in law Marty Bowman of Omaha, NE; nephew Jim Best and wife Mary and their children Haley and Connor, niece Carrie Nirva and husband Adam and their children Justin and Braeden, niece Polly Reny and husband John and their children Ryan and Mathew, nephew Bob Bowman, nephew John Bowman and wife Susan; and her best friend Char Weber of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother James Edward Bowman.

Susan Kay Bowman was born November 21, 1940 in Cedar Rapids, the beloved daughter of Carl Edward and Vara Frances Bowman. She was employed at various jobs throughout the years at Kresges, Target, St. Luke's Hospital, Goodwill Industries, and the Humane Society. She enjoyed bowling, collecting angels, and above all her family, friends, and her dog Precious. She was a loving sister, aunt, and friend and will be greatly missed by those who love her.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Susan's honor may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Viola Minnie-Louise Boxrude
Born in Winneshiek County, Iowa on September 26, 1911
Departed on July 9, 2007. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Viola "Jean" Minnie-Louise Boxrude, 96, of Cedar Rapids, began her journey home on July 9, 2007 following an extended illness. Funeral Services 11 AM Friday, July 13, 2007, at First Lutheran Church. Rev. Dr. Kay Slocum will officiate. Friends may call Thursday, July 12, 2007, from 4 to 7 PM at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include her daughter Karole Jonas and husband Ronald of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren Benjamin Robertson of Mesa, AZ, Serena Ward and husband Justin of Cedar Rapids, and their father Dennis Robertson of Chandler, AZ; great grandchildren Bailey, Elijah, and Aaliyah Ward all of Cedar Rapids; nieces Jolayne Winkie and Karen Pearson; and nephews Gary and Dennis Kamp.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Earl T. Boxrude, and brothers Vernon, Lewis, and Charles.

Viola Minnie-Louise Boxrude was born September 26, 1911 in Winneshiek County the beloved daughter of Louis W., Sr. and Caroline Schara Kamp. She was united in marriage to Earl T. Boxrude on March 17, 1951 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia, Iowa, where she was confirmed as a young woman. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, and mentor of many, and will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
