Eve Fear Fiscus Elliott, 95, a resident of Crestview Acres Care Center in Marion, died there Saturday, June 26, 2010. Services will be held at 11 AM Friday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Rev. David Grandon will officiate. Graveside services and interment at 2:30 PM on Friday in the Center Point Cemetery. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Survivors include a brother Roy Fear of Marion, two sister-in-laws Mildred Fear of Dubuque, and Doris Liabo of Naples, Florida, seven nieces and nephews, Roger Reid, Bret Fear, Nancy Trowbridge, Dennis Fear, Lila Opitz, Randy Liabo, and Mark Liabo, a number of great nieces and great nephews, and a dear friend Eleanor Green She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, four brothers John Laverne, Wayne, Merle, and Herb, and two sisters Elsie and Emma.

Eve was born May 31, 1915 in Hopkinton, Iowa, to John and Verna Meister Fear. She married Earl Fiscus June 21, 1936. He died in 1948. She married Donald Elliott October 4, 1950. He died May 3, 1971. She was employed in sales at Standard Appliance.

Franklin Joseph Ellison
Born in Mt. Vernon, Iowa on December 13, 1927
Departed on June 30, 2010. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Franklin “Pete” Joseph Ellison, 82, of Cedar Rapids, died June 29, 2010 at St. Luke’s Hospital following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, July 3, 2010 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Bob Voels of Trinity United Methodist Church will officiate. Friends may call at the chapel after 12:30 PM on Saturday. Interment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Surviving are his son Timothy Kevin Ellison; brothers Richard Ellison and wife Susan of Monticello, Robert Earl Ellison and wife Edith of Tampa, Fl; sister Lori Hall of Monticello; sister-in-laws Linda Ellison of Macon, GA, and Lucy Ellison of Oelwein; brother-in-laws Al Brennaman of Anamosa and Bob Jensen of Nocona, TX; as well as several nieces and nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his wife Elisabeth; his parents; brothers Clayton, Carl, and Darrell; sisters Ruby Angerstein, Leona Brennaman, Betty Wonder, Arlene Jensen, and Jean Busching.

Pete was born December 13, 1927 in Mt. Vernon to Ode and Ruth (Snyder) Ellison. He married Elisabeth J. Froman on October 17, 1951 in Nashua; she preceded him in death on June 20, 2010. He served his country honorably in the United States Army following WWII. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and trapshooting.

Velma M. Eden
Born in Central City, Iowa on August 10, 1934
Departed on August 20, 2010. Resided in Hiawatha, Iowa.

Velma M. Eden, 76, a resident of the Hiawatha Care Center died there Friday August 20, 2010. Services: Private. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Laura Smith from Kenwood Park United Methodist Church will officiate. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her sisters, Nelda Kiracofe of North Liberty, Josephine Balvin (Allen) of Cedar Rapids, Elva Herman (Myron) of Harper, Iowa, Bonnie Kubik (Edward) of Walker, Judy Soukup of Hiawatha, Rachel Willis (Dean) of Marion, Juanita Eden of Framingham, MA, and Rebecca Vlcko (Steve) of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Calvin Eden, brothers in law, Edward Kiracofe, and Robert Soukup.
Velma was born August 10, 1934 in Central City, Iowa, the daughter of Russel and Mildred Moyer Eden. She worked for Rockwell Collins for over 30 years. She was a member of Kenwood Park United Methodist Church, Rockwell Retirees and the Beaus & Belles Square Dancing Club. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, knitting and country music. Her church was very important to her and attended service every week. Velma was a very caring person. She enjoyed getting together for family events and spending time with her nieces and nephews. She cared for her mother after her dads passing. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Hiawatha Care Center.

Evelyn Dolores Erbes
Born in laGrande, Oregon on September 16, 1925
Departed on November 20, 2010. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

E. Dolores Erbes, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died at Manor Care, Saturday, November 20, 2010. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories by the rev. brenda s. ehret of the Unity Center. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Dolores is survived by a son John and his wife, Kimberly of Cedar Rapids and a daughter, Denise Healy and her husband, Paul of Bella Vista, AR, ; grandchildren, Dustin and Benjamin Lawrence and Melissa and Michael Erbes; great grandchildren, Taryn, Dorian, Harper, and Landon Erbes, and Walker and Delaney Lawrence; and her beloved cat, Idgit . She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, John.

Dolores was born September 16, 1925 in LaGrande, OR to Charles and Lillie Bullock. She married John Leonard Erbes on January 14, 1947 in Ames. He died in January of 2000. Dolores spent over forty years in the banking industry in Idaho, West Branch, Independence, and finally in Central City until retirement. After retirement she and John spent many years in Harlingen, TX where they enjoyed golfing, bowling, socializing and warm weather.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Gerda M. Lund Faulk
Born in Berlin, Germany on June 24, 1928
Departed on April 3, 2012. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Gerda M. Lund Faulk, 83, of 1125 Edgewood Road NW died Tuesday April 3, 2012 at St. Lukes Hospital after a short illness. A celebration of life service will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 PM on Thursday at St. James United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until service time on Friday. Rev. Beth Harbaugh will officiate.

Survivors include her husband Thomas; three daughters, Linda (Johnny) Meeks, Lorraine (Don) Styron and Lisa (Dan) Negrete all of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Helga of Germany, Irmchen of Virginia and a brother Klaus of Hawaii. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Todd Meeks, Tina (Bryon) Ruby, Cortney Negrete, Trevor Ricklefs and two great grandchildren, Alec and Hallie (Sunshine) Ruby.

Gerda was born on June 24, 1928 in Berlin, Germany the daughter of Ewald and Elsie Thourus Pohl. She married Stanley L. Lund on October 4, 1948 in Berlin. He died in 1982. She later married Thomas Faulk on in 1989 in Cedar Rapids. Gerda was a para educator for the Cedar Rapids School District and retired from there after more than 27 years of service.
Gerda was a faithful member of St. James United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, hiking, feeding the birds and rabbits, picnics, tending her flowers and little children.
Everyone will miss her laughter. She taught us to enjoy the simple things in life. Take time to smell the roses.

Kenton W. Elderkin
Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on May 15, 1944
Departed on September 8, 2010. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Kenton W. Elderkin, 66 of Cedar Rapids died Wednesday September 8, 2010 at the VA Hospital in Des Moines after a short illness. Private family graveside services, with military rites, will be held Monday at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no public visitation. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his parents, David M. and Frances; one brother, David A. (Shearon) all of Cedar Rapids; a niece, Susan Elderkin (Jon Stier) and their children, Adian and Aliza of Seattle Washington.
Kenton was born on May 15, 1944 in Cedar Rapids, the son of David M. and Frances Teeters Elderkin. After graduating from Washington High School he earned a B.S. degree from the Naval Academy, a J.D. from Florida State University, an M.B.A. from Northeastern University in Boston and a Certificate of Letters from the University of Sorbonne in Paris, France. Kenton proudly served first in the United States Marine Corps, and then in the United States Navy, where he completed two tours in Vietnam as chief communications officer aboard the aircraft carrier America. After working as a countertrade analyst for Polaroid Corporation in Boston, Kenton became a self-employed publisher of video presentations and was the author of numerous books. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Norman Elwood Erickson
Born in Postville, Iowa on April 4, 1920
Departed on September 19, 2010. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Norman Elwood Erickson, 90, of 2115 First Ave SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died September 17, 2010. Services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday in First Lutheran Church. Military honors and graveside services will be held at 1 PM at the Floral Hills Cemetery near Oelwein, Iowa. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 10 AM Wednesday at the church. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include two sisters, Loyce Larsen of Iowa City and Irene DeSart of Elgin, Iowa, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Norman was born in Postville, Iowa, the son of John and Emma (Erickson) Erickson, Clermont, Iowa, on April 4, 1920. He was confirmed in 1934 at the West Clermont Lutheran Church. He graduated from Clermont High School in 1937. That same fall he attended Coe College, graduating in 1941 with a degree in accounting and finance and a minor in history.
He was encouraged at an early age to fish in the Turkey River with his father and then went with him to the Mississippi River and to northern Minnesota for Lake Walleye fishing. He and his wife, Floy, enjoyed a summer cabin in Harpers Ferry for 20 years.
At an early age and through high school summers he was an enthusiastic fossil hunter with the late Gus Becker of Clermont and formed a nice prehistoric fossil collection of his own from Fayette County formations.
He was employed by Iowa Electric Light and Power Company in the Accounting Department September 1, 1941, except for 2 ½ years in the Navy (1943-1946), until he retired July 1, 1984.
After attending Storekeeper Services School at Farragut, Idaho, he was assigned for over two years to the USS Admiral US Benson (AP120). This was a newly built troop transport, first of a new “class” and commissioned August 23, 1944. He was proud of his service time and in 1969 founded the ship’s reunion association. attending many reunions until the year 1998.
On March 18, 2001, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. For many summers following 1951, the 19 nephews and nieces from smaller towns and farms were with them at different times during the summer after Floy’s teaching duties for a week of “city life” in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Their visits resulted in memories of the younger generation of our first siblings and their families.
They vacationed in all of the states, wintering in Arizona for over 20 years, and visited many countries especially enjoying Norway over the years. Floy passed away on October 7, 2004.

Glen Nordeen Erie
Born in Mower County, Minnesota on January 10, 1929
Departed on June 8, 2011. Resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Glen Nordeen Erie, 82, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Per Glen’s wishes his body has been cremated. A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 13, 2011 at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Cedar Memorial’s certified celebrant, Julie Freese, will officiate.

Glen was born on January 10, 1929 in Mower County, Minnesota the son of George and Genora (Olson) Erie. He married Edna Blade on October 24, 1948 in Northwood, Iowa. Glen was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked for Wilson’s in Cedar Rapids retiring after 31 years of employment. After his so called retirement Glen would provide transportation for the customers of Edna’s Beauty Shop located in their home in Mount Vernon. Glen was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed remodeling his home, cars, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 62 years Edna; four daughters Glenda
(Mike Knapp) Masek of Cedar Rapids, Janice Svejda of Hiawatha, Connie (Glen)Sterling of Hulett, WY, and Sandy (Steve) Gollobit of Mount Vernon, IA; and his 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Genora Erie, beloved son Garry Nordeen, sisters Pearl Bustad, Arlene Skifter, Gordia Ehlers, Ione Sweetser, June Knode and brother Arlo Erie.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
