Revere “Joe” Joseph, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, May 29, 2010 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Private Graveside Services. A visitation will be held Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m.
Joe is survived by his wife, Amy of 60 years; four children, Garry Joseph of Oxford, Sam (Diane) Joseph of Spring Lake, NC, Dr. Sue Joseph of Cedar Falls, and Jean Leigh Joseph of Cedar Rapids; sisters, Sarah Lynk of Halifax, Nova Scotia and Leila Houssian of Grande Prairie, Alberta; brother, Neiff Joseph of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia; and two grandchildren, Matthew Joseph and Leah Joslyn. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Audrey McCall; brother, Wilford Joseph; and in-laws, Aleck and Negebe Sheronick.
Joe was born October 14, 1925 in Liverpool, Nova Scotia to Charles and Debbie Joseph. He married
Amy Sheronick on February 24, 1951 in Rock Island, IL. He worked for Penford Products for 50 years, retiring September 2, 2002.

Marilyn L. Jensen, 86, died May 31st, 2010, in her sleep with family close by. Services will be held at 3 PM Thursday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Entombment in Chapel of Memories Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 2 PM Thursday to service time at the chapel. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Surviving to honor her memory are two sons Robert (Karen) of Clarence, and Gary (Theresa) of Cedar Rapids, grandchildren Robert M. Jensen, Jennifer (Danny) Spiker, Joshua and Alex Jensen, and great grandson Sage Spiker, and a special niece Sara (Paul) Soglin of Madison, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her sister Lucyle Falconer, and other members of her family that Marilyn considered her own.
Marilyn was born April 3, 1924 in Cedar Rapids to German-Scotch Irish parents, John A. and Anna(Baer) McGowan. She attended McKinley High School in Cedar Rapids. She married
Robert W. “Bob” Jensen on July 3, 1942. They shared a wonderful life together for 67 years before “Hardrock’s” passing late in 2009. The family knew that Marilyn would not want to be alone without Bob at her side.
Marilyn was an extraordinary woman who experienced many things in life; she lived in West Virginia during WW II while Bob was serving his Country, helping the war effort as many Navy brides did in those times. After returning home with Bob she worked for various businesses until she found employment at Collins Radio Co. To say that Marilyn enjoyed her job was an understatement because this is where she met the many life long friends that helped enrich her life and touch so many more hearts. Marilyn’s work place was her social world where she watched so many of her friends raise their families, enjoying the good times and the tough times. She was proud to be a part of the “Space Program” and had the opportunity to meet some of the astronauts where she was recognized for her talent.
Marilyn was the Matriarch of the family and for everyone that knew her; she will be remembered for her great sense of humor and magnetic personality. Her work ethic was incredible and to those that knew her well, appreciated the fact that she was not shy about giving advice or letting you know how she felt. She embodied compassion and would always lend a hand in need. Marilyn raised a family known for the love of the outdoors. She enjoyed being a member of Eastern Star and daughters of the Nile. Marilyn shared Bob’s passion for the outdoors and became accomplished in trapshooting as they traveled to the many competitions around the State.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

Marian R. Johnson, 80, of Cedar Rapids, went to be with Jesus, Wednesday June 9, 2010. Funeral services: 10:00 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church, 840 Third Avenue SE, by the Rev. Fred Darbonne. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation for friends and family will be Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Howard; son Howard and wife, Dana; Mike and wife Shelly; son Mark; a sister Margaret from Peoria; and sixteen grandchildren that she adored.
Marian was born October 19, 1929 in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of John and Sarah Rosenbaum. She married
Howard B. Johnson Jr. on June 27, 1953 in Peoria, Illinois. She graduated from University of Iowa with a Masters Degree in Counseling and worked at Franklin Junior High for 20 years as a Guidance Counselor. She was a long term active member of First Christian Church. Marian was an amazing woman who demonstrated God’s love and perseverance through her commitment to her family and choosing joy in all situations. Marian served the Lord through letter ministry and prayer. She loved watching birds from hummingbirds to eagles. Her grandchildren were the absolute joy of her life.

Wallace F. Johnson, 86, of Cedar Rapids, died July 14, 2010 at Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a short illness. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Pastor Rick Gail of First Assembly of God Church will officiate. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, on Monday, July 19, 2010 at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Entombment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Honors will be provided by the Cedar Rapids Police Honor Guard.
Surviving are his sons, Nedrick Johnson of Des Moines, David (Gloria) Johnson of Cedar Rapids, Lynn (Cheryl) Johnson of Cedar Rapids, Ron (Jill) Johnson of Marion, and Alan Johnson of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren Matthew (Jessie) Johnson, Adam (Stacy) Johnson, Mark (Shawnna) Johnson, Julie (Jeff) Anderson all of Cedar Rapids, Alanah and Addison Johnson both of Marion; great grandchildren Jaxen, Max, and Ava; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife R. Maxine Johnson, his grandson Eric Johnson, and his siblings.
Wallace Francis Johnson was born November 30, 1923 in Kingsley, Iowa the beloved son of Ferdinand and Elise (Walters) Johnson. He was a graduate of Cedar Rapids McKinley High school where he excelled in track and football. He served his country honorably in the United States 3rd Army 5th Division under General Patton during WWII. He was united in marriage to Reva Maxine Guffey on May 26, 1946 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids; she preceded him in death on February 3, 2007. Wally was employed from 1951 to 1990 at the Cedar Rapids Police Department, retiring as Assistant Chief of Police. He also enjoyed carpentry, and built several garages as side jobs. He had numerous memberships that included: Iowa State Police Association where he was a Past President, Iowa Association of Chiefs of Police and Peace Officers, Mizpah Masonic Lodge # 639 A.F. & A.M., Cedar Rapids Valley Scottish Rite, El Kahir Shrine where he was a member of the Drum and Bugle Corp Unit, VFW Post # 788, Marion American Legion, and Trinity United Methodist Church where he was a longtime usher. Wally enjoyed bird watching and animals especially cats and dogs. He was also a fan of the Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers, and in recent years the Cedar Rapids Roughriders hockey team. Wally will be greatly missed by those whom loved him dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Luke’s Hospice or to Trinity United Methodist Church.

Joyce James, 83, a lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids, died at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Saturday, August 28, 2010. Services: 3 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories by the Rev. Jim Langley. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 – 7 pm and Thursday from 2:30 to 3 p.m. at the chapel.
Survivors include her children, Lynda Galiher of Cedar Rapids, Jill (Jim) Hidinger of Shellsburg, and Paul James of Shueyville; brothers, Ricard Fryrear (Don Berg) of Oak Park, IL and Robert (Jean) Fryrear of Madison, CT; granddaughters, Rachel Farrell and Heather Losch; great grandchildren, Ashley Farrell-Vasquez, Nick Parsons, Lexi Melsha, Phoenix Farrell, Noah and Eden Losch, and great great grandchildren, Macy Farrell and Madaxx Vasquez. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Frank James; her parents; and infant son, Dennis James.
Joyce was born November 12, 1926 in Cedar Rapids to loving parents, Robert and Mabel Fryrear. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1944 and married
Frank James at Westminster Presbyterian Church on December 14, 1946. Joyce’s career as an Executive Secretary began at Boy Scouts of America and culminated with her retirement from Souvenir Pen and Pencil Company. While she enjoyed her professional career immensely, Joyce’s true calling was that of a devoted wife, mother, and friend.
Joyce enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles and spending time with her family. She especially delighted in her grandchildren, fondly referring to them as her “stair steps”. She will be sorely missed by her family, and those that knew the generosity of her heart.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Iowa Hospice or the Cedar Rapids Humane Society.
Warren A. Johnson

Warren A. Johnson, 85, of Iowa City, passed away Saturday October 2, 2010, at Windmill Manor in Coralville. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 1 PM Friday, October 15, 2010, in Memorial Lawn section of Cedar Memorial Park cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with Rev. Bruce Fischer officiating. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Surviving to honor his memory is his wife of over 65 years Vea, and four daughters Sandra (Robert) Tatge of Des Moines, Iowa, Lynn (Walter) Manley of Canton, Ohio, Susan (Rick) Posner of Geneva, Illinois, Julia (Ron) Holch of Lino Lakes, Minnesota, a daughter in law Linda Johnson Lundquist of Ankeny, Iowa, and six grandchildren, Alexandra and Andrew Tatge, Colin, Graeme, and Lauren Smith, and Calvin Ryan. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son Scott.
Warren was born February 16, 1925, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Arthur and Esther (Shanklin) Johnson. He served with the US Navy during WW II. He married
E. Vea England on July 21, 1945 in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1948 with a bachelor of science degree in business administration.
He was a railroad steam engine enthusiast and a Civil War and WW II history buff.
