Mary Lee Randall, 70, 422 J. Ave NW died Saturday, September 10, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center following a brief illness. Services: 3:00 P.M. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Friends may call Tuesday from 4 PM to 7 PM at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Ken Koske of Twin Pines Baptist Church will officiate.
Surviving in addition to her husband James are two sons, Stephen Cook of Cedar Rapids and Jimmie Joe Cook of Alamo, GA; a daughter, Tina Cook of Forest Grove, OR; nine grandchildren, Andrew, Sarah, Wendy, Tabetha, Joshua, Jimmie Joe Jr., Thomas, Bryson, and Matthew; a great granddaughter, Serienty; two sisters, Betty Rose of Michigan and Della Clagg of Maryland; numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, one sister, and her son Thomas.
Mary was born October 30, 1934 in Welch, West Virginia the daughter of Henry and Edith Dalton. She married James Randall in 1973. Mary was the night supervisor at Stauffers. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Thomas Wayne Petersen
Born in Anamosa, Iowa on September 9, 1942
Departed on June 16, 2005. Resided in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Thomas Wayne Petersen, 62, of 2454 Deborah Drive S.W., passed away at his home Thursday, June 16, 2005. A celebration of life gathering will be held Sunday, June 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. A private family inurnment will be held at Oak Hill cemetery at a later date.

Tom was born September 9, 1942 in Anamosa, Iowa, the son of Otto Thomas and Margaret Usher Petersen. Tom graduated from Jefferson High School in 1960 and served in the United States Navy from 1960-1963. On April 24, 1965 Tom was united in marriage to Karen Anne Person in Cedar Rapids. He worked at FMC for 19 years, Czech National cemetery for 13 years, and was currently the sexton of Oak Hill and St. John's Cemeteries in Cedar Rapids.

Tom is survived by his wife, Karen Anne, children Peggy Ann Scott Cross of Cedar Rapids, son, Mark Thomas Molly Petersen of North Liberty, and daughter Wendy Lynne of Cedar Rapids. PaPa Tom's grandchildren are: Jacob Thomas Petersen, Ethan and Anna Cross, Emma and Max Thomas Petersen.

Also surviving are his sisters Evelyn Hollingsworth and Mary Lou Novak, a brother Jim Petersen, and brother in-laws Bill Steggall and Dennis Person.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father in-law, Eddie and Mary Person, and sisters Peggy Joanne Petersen, Virginia Steggall, and Marlene Hooper.

In his younger days Tom enjoyed hunting with his children and dogs, Martha and Bernice. He loved watching baseball games, listening to his 'oldies', and watching John Wayne and Randolf Scott movies. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren's sporting events and his many trips to the casinos. One could ask just about any question regarding old movies, music, sports, or history and Tom knew the answer. He had a wonderfully dry witty sense of humor and was a friend to many.

His eye is on the sparrow and I know he watches me.

Dolores Elizabeth Altenhofen Jeffrey Peterson

Dolores Elizabeth Altenhofen Jeffrey Peterson, 70, of 4090 Hickory Hill Lane S.E., Cedar Rapids, Iowa died Thursday September 22, 2005 following a brief illness. Funeral Mass: 10:30 am Tuesday at All Saints Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, Iowa by the Rev. David O'Connor. Inurnment: Private at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call on Monday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, Iowa from 4-7 pm where a wake service will begin at 6:30 pm.
Survivors includeher husband, Donald William Peterson, a daughter and husband Dr. Dana Marie Jeffrey Laursen and husband L. Charles Laursen, stepdaughter, Susan Ann Peterson Moulder and husband Stanley Moulder, step grandchildren, Justin, Jamie, and Alyssa Moulder, Brett, Chelsea, and Alexi Laursen, brothers, Clair, Bill, and Jerome Altenhofen, sisters, Patricia Altenhofen and Maribeth Altenhofen Peyton, and her mother Gertrude Laux Altenhofen, and a great granddaughter, Elle Moulder.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Nicholas and Ottilia Vogel Altenhofen, John and Anna Haupert Laux, her father, Edmund Altenhofen, a brother, Dean Altenhofen, and first husband, Robert Stinson Jeffrey.
Dolores was born on December 16, 1934 in Harper, Iowa. She attended St. Elizabeth's Elementary School, Harper, Iowa, Van Buren Lightfoot No. 6, Keokuk County, Sigourney, Iowa. She graduated from Thornburg Consolidated High School in 1952, Mt Mercy College in 1969 with B.S. Degree and M.S. Degree in 1981 at the University of Iowa.
She married Robert Stinson Jeffrey on May 25, 1957. He died September 2, 1961. She then married Donald William Peterson on April 24, 1982. Dolores career was very important to her. She taught at Marion Independent Schools and was CEO at Airline Industrial Services, Ltd. Her priorities in life were God, family, country, education, the environment, P.E.O. and humane treatment for animals.
Her activities and organizations include, All Saints Catholic Church, All Saint Guild, NEA, ISEA, College Club of Cedar Rapids Chapter LI, P.E.O., Mercy Health Center Auxiliary, and the University of Iowa Alumni Association. In her spare time she enjoyed hobbies of gardening, reading, sewing, travel, piano, cooking, shopping, interior decorating and antiques.

Memorials may be made to the Jeffrey-Peterson Education Scholarship Fund/ Jeffrey-Peterson Charitable Trust Fund of the Cedar Valley Humane Society.

Evelyn M. Pfoff

Evelyn M. Pfoff, 72, 4566 Maureen Dr. SE died Friday, April 14, 2006 at her home following a short illness. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5PM to 7PM . A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday at 4:30 PM at Father's House Vineyard Church by Pastor Marty Boller. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Columbarium.
Survivors include two daughters, Bonita Millhollin and Melissa Williams Steve both of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Mike Pfoff Shelly of Cedar Rapids and Stanley Pfoff Mary of Mt. Vernon; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a sister, Geraldine Boelter of Princess Ann, VA; a very special sister-in-law, Madeline Gallagher of Leroy, IL; and four granddogs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband David, a brother Thomas, and a son-in-law Mark.
Evelyn was born September 21, 1933 in Norfolk, VA the daughter of Thomas A. and Ethel M. Cuthrall Lupton. She married David Lee Pfoff on November 18, 1951 in Fentress, VA. She had worked for Osco Drug Store as a clerk for 49 years. Evelyn was a member of Father's House Vineyard Church. She loved her family, her work, her friends and her faith. 'The world's not the same without your mom in it.'
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church's 'slate grey roof'.

Faye B. Penrod
Born on March 20, 1937
Departed on April 15, 2006. Resided in Swisher, IA.

Faye B. Penrod, 69, 1386 Curtis Bridge Rd, Swisher died Saturday, April 15, 2006 at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. Services are private. Cedar Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a daughter, Tracie Homewood of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Scott Penrod Rhonda of Swisher and Douglas Penrod of Swisher; four grandchildren, Jason Homewood, Shannon Homewood, Kaylee Penrod and Matthew Penrod; and two sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Quenton, and many sisters and brothers.
Faye was born March 20, 1937 in Millersberg the daughter of George and Cora Sanders Herdliska. She married Quenton Wayne Penrod on October 24, 1959 in Rollo, MO. She worked at Cryovac for 25 years, retiring in 1992. Faye loved gardening, being with her grandkids, and her beloved dog Bear.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Faye's name has been established.

Myrtle Lucille Peckosh
Born in Union Level, Virginia on April 26, 1923

Myrtle Lucille Peckosh, 83, passed away Thursday, June 15. A memorial celebration will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, June 19, Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories followed by interment at Buffalo Township cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Myrtle is survived by daughters, Patricia Hines and husband Russ, and Pam DeSotel and husband Craig; son, Ken and wife Shirley; daughters-in-law, Claire and Dianne; brother, Morris Jordan and wife Eleanor; 11 grandchildren, Brett, Sara, Karrie, Dan, Kim, Katie, Morgan, Logan, Seth, Alissa and Emily; 4 great grandchildren; 6 nieces and nephews; her special family at Peck's; and many friends. Her husband, Peck; her two sons, James and Thomas; her great grandson, Beau; her sister, Mary; and her brother, Millard, preceded her in death.
Myrtle Jordan was born April 26, 1923, in Union Level, Virginia, where she grew up and graduated from high school. She graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in home economics. She then joined the WAVES during World War II where she met M.R. "Peck" Peckosh, who was serving with the Marines. They were married on July 28, 1945, in Beauford, South Carolina. After military service, they moved to Michigan where Peck attended college and worked at a nursery. In 1956, the family moved to Cedar Rapids, and along with their partners and dear friends, Ralph and Ruth Adolph, founded Green Thumb Nursery, which was later re-named Peck's Green Thumb Nursery. While Peck was the landscaper, Myrtle was devoted to the retail store and was the force behind the addition of the flower shop in 1970. In 1991 the Iowa Nurserymen's Association bestowed their Hall of Fame Award and honorary lifetime membership on Myrtle in honor of her years of outstanding service to the industry. Her love of plants and horticulture passed on to her children, as all five were, or are still currently involved in the nursery and floral industry, as well as, four of their spouses and three grandsons. She worked long hours at the nursery, yet her highest priority was always her family. Her kolaches, rolls, Swiss steak, and famous chocolate peanut butter frosting were treats made with love for those she loved dearly. She was never too busy to devote her full attention to each of her children and grandchildren. She loved every one with all her heart, appreciated their individual characteristics, encouraged their strengths, and made each feel so very special. She was always the best with hugs, encouragement and love. Myrtle blessed her family and friends with happy memories to carry of her patience and understanding, honesty and hard work, bright smiles, and her love.
A memorial fund is established.

Howard J. Parker

Howard J. Parker, 86, 727 37th St. NE died Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital following a brief illness. Services: 10:00 A.M. Friday at St. Matthew's Catholic Church. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories on Thursday from 4:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. with a Scripture Service at 6:30 P.M. The Rev. Mark Osterhaus will officiate.
Surviving in addition to his wife Catherine are three daughters, Jeanne M. Rammelsberg Brian of Atkins, Jane A. Huber Bill and Patricia K. Feddersen both of Cedar Rapids; a son, John H. Parker Bethany of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, Daniel Melissa, Michael, Matthew, Kurtis, Amanda, Joseph and Sara; and a sister, Marian Tinker of Chicago, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Willard Parker, Raymond Parker, and Gene Parker.
Howard was born January 27, 1920 in Dubuque the son of James and Pearle Rave Parker. He married Catherine M. Kiefer on July 8, 1950 in Dubuque. Howard was the zone manager for International Harvester 31 years and most recently he worked for Bob Zimmerman Ford for 9 years. He was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church, the American Legion Post #727, the V.F.W. Post #788, Hawkeye Chapter Ex P.O.W., the Disabled American Veterans #10, the Rainbow Veterans Association and the Cedar Rapids Executive Association. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II, and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
