WILLIAM BAMFORD

William Bamford died Sunday, May 7, 2006 at Alexian Brothers Medical Center at 92. He lived in Elk Grove Village for 52 years. He was a screw machine specialist for more than 70 years and a dedicated pioneer in the screw machine industry, including doing commissioned government work during World War II. He was a respected specialist with custom cam cutters and Brown and Sharpe machinery, working in the industry until 1997. He loved to play poker and Texas Hold ŒEm. with family and friends. He was the husband of Louise (nee Timbrello) since 1936; father of Ron (Ginny) and Linda (Mike) Lussnig; grandpa of Mike and Bill (Nancy) Lussnig and Barb, Brian (Marge) and Brett Bamford; great-grandfather of Matthew, Steven and Brook Lussnig and Madeline and Genevieve Bamford; brother-in-law of Josephine Gannuscio and Shirley Timbrello and uncle and friend to many. Visitation was Wednesday at Grove Memorial Chapel, with services there Thursday. Interment was in Queen of Heaven cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Heart or Diabetes Associations would be appreciated.

LORRAINE D. BENACKA
Of Des Plaines

A funeral Mass for Lorraine D. Benacka (nee Broniel), 76, took place at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 13 from Oehler Funeral Home in Des Plaines to St. Mary Church in Des Plaines. Entombment was at All Saints cemetery. Visitation was held Friday, May 12, from 3 to 9 p.m. Mrs. Benacka was born on March 9, 1930 in Chicago. She was a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother. She died at Northwest Community Hospital on May 9. She was preceded in death by her husband William M. Benacka Sr. She is survived by her children Patricia A. (Dennis) Dituri and William M. (Laurie) Benacka Jr, her grandchildren Christopher, Michael, and Anthony Dituri and Jason, Lindsay, and Joey Benacka, and her sister Dorothy (Jack) Estry. Funeral arrangements were made by Oehler Funeral Home.

LAURA BROWDER
Of Rolling Meadows

A funeral Mass for Laura Browder (nee Ranalli), 76, took place on Friday, May 12 at 10 a.m. at St. Colette Church. Entombment was at St. Michael cemetery in Palatine. Visitation was Thursday, May 11 at The Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows. Mrs. Browder was born on July 8, 1929 in Chicago. Friends and family meant the most to her. She will be remembered for the way she brightened up a room, for her sense of humor, and for the many lives she touched with her warm and caring ways. She died suddenly on May 8 at Holy Family Hospital in Des Plaines after a short illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Nicolena Ranalli and her siblings Mary Rango and Paul Ranalli. She is survived by her husband Claude, her children Marilyn (Roger) Briggs, Michael (Karen), and Cindy Browder, her grandchildren Adam Briggs, her step-grandchildren Masun and Megan Jackson, and her siblings Anthony (Ellen) and Vincent (Pat) Ranalli. Funeral arrangements were made by The Meadows Funeral Home.

HELEN BURTAN
U.S. Government

A funeral service for Helen M. Burtan, 81, of Niles will be held Wednesday, May 17 at St. Mary of the Woods at 9 a.m. Interment in St. Adalbert cemetery, 6800 N. Milwaukee Ave. Born June 10, 1924, she passed away May 11, 2006 in Resurrection Medical Center. She had worked as an administrative aid for the Federal Government. She was preceded in death by her sister Florence Burtan and parents. Survivors include her niece Margie Rzentkowski and great-nieces Kristen (Michael) Dakof and Kriste Raducka; and cousin Dolores Stevens. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Mary of the Wood appreciated. Funeral arrangements were made by Skaja Terrace Funeral Home.

Pianist From Des Plaines

A funeral service for Jack Cafaro "Carr" took place on Wednesday, May 10 in Green Bay, Wisc. Visitation was on Monday, May 8 at G.L. Hills Funeral Home in Des Plaines. Mr. Cafaro died on Friday, May 5. He is survived by his wife Patti (nee Kresse), his children, Mary Lucinda (James) Demeney, Deborah Waltrich, Sue Ellen (Paul) Jayko, Katherine Sellergren, and Kelly Arens, his sister Theresa Dinute, his grandchildren Alana, Andrew, Shannon, and Nicole, his great-grandchildren Chase, two nieces and one great-nephew. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Rainbow Hospice are appreciated. Funeral arrangements were made by G.L. Hills Funeral Home.

TULLIO D. CARNESCIALI
Mechanical Engineer

A funeral service for Tullio D. Carnesciali, 85, of Rolling Meadows will be held today (Thursday) in the Willow Creek Community Church, South Barrington. Interment is private. Arrangements were by Meadows Funeral Home, Rolling Meadows. A native of Italy and a mechanical engineer, he died May 15 in Northwest Community Hospital. Surviving are his widow, Grace (nee La Bello); children Donna (Joseph) Sorth, Linda (the late Bob) Cox, Lorena (Joseph) Nowak, and Diana (Julius) Mancini; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and siblings Alfio (Carol) and Lorena (the late Bill) Anderson.

VERA COANDA
Of Des Plaines

A funeral service for Vera Coanda nee Dalida, 97, will take place on Wednesday, May 17, at 3 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Des Plaines. Interment will be private. No visitation was planned. Mrs. Coanda was born on Jan. 26, 1909 in Pittsburgh, Penn. She was a homemaker and died on May 12 at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. She was preceded in death by her husband John and nine siblings. She is survived by her daughter Maureen (late Pete) Zwolinski, her grandchild Bart Heuser, her step-grandchildren Marcia (Tony), and David (Patricia), her great-grandchild Julie (Jorge) Guerrero, her step-great-grandchildren Trisha, Jeff, Krystyna, Kasey, and Monika, and her great-great-grandchild Abigail. Funeral arrangements were made by G.L. Hills Funeral Home.

MICHAEL HABERKORN
Arlington Heights

Services for Michael J. Haberkorn Jr., 74, of Arlington Heights were held May 12 in Elk Grove Village. Born Feb. 12, 1932 in Chicago, he died Wednesday May 10, 2006 in Arlington Heights. Haberkorn served as a corporal in the Army in Korea from 1952 to 1954. He is survived by his brother William (Sheila), sister Nancy (late Paul) Sherkey; children Janet (Rick) Happ, Judy (Art) Barsema, Stephen (Linda) Haberkorn and Sharon (Greg) Lewis and grandsons Kevin Happ, Brian Happ, Benjamin Lewis and Blake Lewis. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

JOHN F. HENNELLY
Native Of Ireland

A funeral mass for John F. (Jack) Hennelly, 88, a native of Ireland and a long-time Park Ridgean, was held May 15 in St. Paul of the Cross Church. Interment followed in All Saints cemetery. Arrangements were by Cooney Funeral Home, Park Ridge. A native of Manulla Castelbar County, Mayo, Ireland, he died May 10. Surviving are his children, Maureen, John (Susan), Michael (Catherine), and Kathleen; grandchildren Tiffany, Melissa, Kevin, Shannon, Kaitlyn, and Megan; a brother, Augustus; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maureen (nee McGovern), and a brother, Charles.

RICHARD F. KROLL
Elk Grove resident

A memorial visitation for Richard F. Kroll, 83, of Elk Grove Village, was held in Grove Memorial Chapel recently. A native of Chicago, he died May 11 in Alexian Brothers Medical Center. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Camille M.; sons Ronald F. (Carrie), and Terry (Debbie); daughters Sharon (Robert) Mietus, and Sheila (Ron) Wells; a brother, Joseph (Les) Maj; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Kroll.

CATHERINE McGUIGAN
Of Park Ridge

A funeral Mass for Catherine McGuigan (nee Reilly), 99, took place Thursday at Mary Seat of Wisdom Church. Interment was at All Saints cemetery. Visitation was Wednesday, May 17, at Cooney Funeral Home in Park Ridge. Mrs. McGuigan was a native of County Mayo, Ireland. She died on May 15. She was preceded in death by her husband Bernard and her daughter Mary Anne (Gordon) Contine. She is survived by her children Bernard (Diane), Peter (Joan), John (Ann), and Kathleen (James) McGuire, her 14 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.

HELEN MIERKIEWICZ
Of Niles

A funeral service for Helen Mierkiewicz, 96, took place on Monday, May 8 at St. Juliana Church. Interment was at St. Adalbert cemetery. Mrs. Mierkiewicz was born on Oct. 24, 1909 in Chicago. She worked as a seamstress and was a member of the Niles Grandmothers Club and the Niles Seniors Club. She died at Resurrection Medical Center on May 4. She was preceded in death by her husband Stephen Mierkiewicz. She is survived by her daughter Elaine Mierkiewicz-Tenney, her grandchild Shannon Tenney, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements were made by Skaja Terrace Funeral Home.

GLENN R. NOEHRE
Lion from Elk Grove Village

A funeral service for Glenn R. Noehre, 76, will take place on Friday, May 19 at 10:30 a.m. at Grove Memorial Chapel in Elk Grove Village. Interment will be at Mt. Emblem cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 3-9 p.m. at Grove. Mr. Noehre was born in Chicago. He was a member of the Elk Grove Village Lions Club for 32 years. He died at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village on May 14. He was preceded in death by his brother Edward (Mary) Noehre. He is survived by his wife Marian nee Boepple, his children Kim (Salvatore) Scianna, Amy (Andrew) Choyinski and Wendy (Timothy) Pennington, his siblings Allen (Barbara), Donald (Judy), Marilyn (Walter) Metler, and his brother-in-law Jack (Joan) Boepple, his grandchildren Glenn (Erin), Megan, Tim, Tony, Elizabeth, Alex, Andrew and Angela, and many nieces and nephews.

ANNA H. RIFFNER
Niles Homemaker

Anna H. Riffner, 96, passed away on May 14 at the Resurrection Pavillion Nursing Center. Funeral services will take place today (Friday) at the Skaja Terrace Funeral Home. Riffner was preceded in death by her daughter Lillian (Riffner) Roldt, her mother Anna Kessler Bott, and her father John Bott. She is survived by her cousin Adam (Maria) Kessler of Niles, her sister Theresa Beditch, her nephews Joseph and Johann Boditch, and her friend Renata Enyart.

ARTHUR C. SIBLE
Ill. Bell Assinger

Arthur C. Sible, 76, of Arlington Hts., died May 15 in his home. Visitation was conducted Wednesday, May 17 at the Meadows Funeral Home, 3615 Kirchoff Rd., Rolling Meadows, where the funeral will be conducted on Thursday, May 18, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at the Queen of Heaven cemetery, Hillside. Sible is survived by his children, Arthur "Jackie, " and Joy (Bill) Snyder; his brother Bob "Teenie, " Sible and Bill (LaVerne) Sible. He is also survived by his long-time friend Leona "Lee" Stephens, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Marine veteran of the Korean War, Sible worked for Illinois Bell as plant assinger for over 34 years, before retiring in 1984.

LORETTA B. SMIGIELSKI
Arlington Hts. resident

Loretta B. Smigielski, nee Wiechowski, 86, passed away at the Rosewood Care Center on May 14. On Friday, May 19, prayers will be offered at Grove Memorial at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral at 10 a.m. at Queen of the Rosary Church, Elk Grove Blvd., Elk Grove. She will be interned at Maryhill cemetery. Smigielski, who was born in Chicago, is survived by her son Carl (Jim) Smigielski, and her daughters Kathleen (William) Hammer and Karen (Randy) Chamerski. She has six surviving grandchildren, Ernie (Diane) and Michael Myerson; Janet Myerson; and Breanna, Molly and Madolyn Chamerski. Smigielski also has four great grandchildren, Travis, Nichole and Britney Myerson; and Gianna Hammers. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Carl; her brothers Harry and Floria (Irene); and her sisters Gertrude Husak, Regina Suida, Irene Brink, Marcella Janczak and Dolore Sebastian.

SANDY KUNKEL SNOW
Formerly Of Des Plaines

A memorial service for Sandy Kunkel Snow, 59, of Montpelier, Vermont, took place on Friday, May 12 at Vermont College in College Hall Chapel. Ms. Snow grew up in Des Plaines and attended Algonquin Middle School, Maine West High School, and Northwestern University. She later moved to Vermont and became a computer systems developer with the Vermont Department of Information and Innovation. She died of breast cancer on Sunday, May 7, at the Central Vermont Medical Center. She is survived by her son, Ryan Snow, her mother Mary Kunkel of Des Plaines, her son's fiancée Carrie Weinstein, Ryan's father Bill Snow, her dog Emma, and many friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Central Vermont Humane Society, PO Box 687, Montpelier, VT 05601 or the American Cancer Society, PO Box 1460, Williston, VT 05495 are appreciated.

JOSEPH A. VANACORA
Army Veteran

A funeral service for Joseph A. Vanacora, 87, took place on Thursday, May 4, at St. Isaac Jogues Church. Interment was at All Saints cemetery and visitation was at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 3. Mr. Vanacora was born on Nov. 13, 1918 in Chicago. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Gold Star VFW Post #1102. He died at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge on April 30. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Margeret (nee Copabianco Vanacora). He is survived by his wife Helen (nee Bufano Vanacora), his children Joseph (Debra) Vanacora and Ronald (Suzanne) Vanacora, and his grandchildren Lindsey (Justin) Dale, Cheryl, Lisa, Michael, Gina, and Nicole. In lieu of flowers, memorials for masses are appreciated. Funeral arrangements were made by Skaja Terrace Funeral Home.

ZOFIA WOJDELKO
Of Des Plaines

Funeral services for Zofia Wojdelko, 59, will take place on Friday, May 19, at 9 a.m. at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home in Niles and at 10 a.m. at St. Zachary Church. Interment will be at Maryhill cemetery. Visitation was on Thursday, May 18. Mrs. Wojdelko was born on Mar. 20, 1947 in Poland. She worked as a housekeeping supervisor and died on May 16. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jan Kurek and Eleanora Kurek (nee Pas). She is survived by her husband Andrzej Wojdelko, her children Robert (Nikki) Wojdelko, Isabele Wojdelko, and Chris Wojdelko, her grandchildren Sara and Ashley, her brother Stanislaw (Halina) Kurek, her niece Agnieszka (Gutek) Jaros, and her great-niece Natalia. Funeral arrangements were made by Skaja Terrace Funeral Home.

CLARA FELLERMEIER
Arlington Hts. Resident

Clara Fellermeier, nee Heide, of Arlington Hts. passed away Apr. 28 at the Lutheran Home. Fellermeier was born Aug. 16, 1904, in Germany. She came to the United States in the mid-1920s. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rudolf, who she married in 1929. Mother of Arlene Hardt and Rita Hunt, she is grandmother of April (Michael) Collins, and Scott and Marc Hardt. She is great grandmother to Aubre and Declan Collins. Visitation was conducted Monday, May 1, at the Lutheran Home. She is interned at the Lutheran Home cemetery.
