Helmuth A. Thurow
Helmuth A. Thurow, 94, of Huntley, passed away Friday, March 30, 2001 at Sherman West Court in Elgin.
He was born March 7, 1907 in Marengo Township in McHenry County, the son of Huntley where he served as a Trustee and Deacon for many years, a life member and past officer of the Huntley Lions Club and a member of the Harvard Moose Lodge.
Surviving are his wife, Lucille; six nieces, Thelma Brugger, Suzanne Jensen, Nancy Sweat, Meredith Osvald, Linda Thurow, and Susan Thurow; four nephews, Bradley, Kirby, John and Joseph Thurow; and two sisters-in-law, Elnor Thurow and Mildred Thurow.
Mr. Thurow was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Herbert and Erhardt Thurow; two sisters, Helen Dimon and Gertrude Swanson; and two nephews Robert and Richard Swanson.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, April 4, 2001 at the First Congregational Church, 11628 E. Main St., Huntley with the Rev. Bette J. Zattau officiating. Burial will be in the Huntley cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 AM on Wednesday prior to services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Congregational Church of Huntley.
The James A. O'Connor Funeral Home of Huntley is in charge of arrangements.

William H. Ahle
William H. Ahle, 74, of Carpentersville, IL, passed away Saturday in the Rosewood Care Center, Elgin. He was born February 7, 1929 in Elgin and was the son of Harry and Rose (Lucas) Ahle. William had worked as the Sioux Chef at Pheasant Run in St. Charles, IL, and retired from Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. William had served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife Helen Ahle of Carpentersville, IL, whom he married on November 6, 1971; his twin brother, Richard (Caroline) Ahle of Carpentersville, IL, three step-children, Sue (Don) Landwer of Colorado, Pamela (John) Miller of Colorado and Rex Mumme of South Elgin, IL and five step grandchildren.
preceded in death by his parents, one son, William Ahle and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, 120 South Third St. (Corner of Third and Oregon), West Dundee (847-836-8770), with Chaplain Edward Hunter officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. in the funeral home and on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Provena St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary.

Cora Bierman
Cora Bierman, 88, of Elgin, IL died Sunday, March 30 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital. She was born October 1, 1914 in Elgin to Charles and Elizabeth (Sodt) Bierman.
She is survived by her brother, Howard Bierman of Elgin and many nieces and nephews.
preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Carl, Walter and Delbert and three sisters, Ruth, Alice and Dora.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Burial will be private. There will be no visitation. Arrangements were handled by Wait Ross Allanson Elgin Chapel.

Ronald Lee Braasch
"Gator/Papa Gator"
Ronald Lee "Gator/Papa Gator" Braasch, of Woodstock, GA, formerly of Elgin, died Wednesday, March 26, 2003 in Atlanta, GA after a lingering illness.
He was born on November 5, 1937 in Elgin, the son of Carl and Rose (nee Schuman) Braasch.
Ron was born and raised in Elgin and attended Elgin schools. He was a Commercial and Semi Truck driver for over 35 years. Working for some of Elgin's first families of business. Most recently, before his retirement, he drove for A-1 Cab Co.
He is survived by five sons, Carl (Jennifer), Danny (Doreen), Scott (Rosemary), and Owen all of GA and Gerald (Cari) of TN; a daughter, Margaret (Sam) Stewart of GA; a sister, Judy Markham of Elgin; a brother, David (Marianne) of Melrose Park; 17 grandchildren; many loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; and a great great nephew; his wife, Karen Braasch of Sycamore; four step children; and six step grandchildren.
preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kenny in 1987; and a brother-in-law, Ben Markham in 1987.
Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at 7 PM at Madison Funeral Home with Pastor James Townsend officiating. Private burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 PM until time of service.
Omission of flowers is requested, memorials may be made to the family. Arrangements by Madison Funeral Home, 847-741-1128.

Caroljeane Mae "Punk" Fay
Caroljeane Mae "Punk" Fay, 78, of Aurora, passed away Friday, March 28, 2003 at her home. She was born March 24, 1925 in Elgin, IL.
Caroljeane was employed at West Aurora High School, the National Catholic Society of Foresters, Cook's Publishing of Elgin and the Elgin Watch Company through the years. She was a member of St. Rita of Cascia Church and the Ladies of the Moose. Her pastime hobbies included gardening, and taking care of her house plants and her pets.
Survivors include three sons: Jerry (Connie) of Burnsville, MN, Dennis of Renton, WA and Richard (Francisca) Fay of Aurora; two grandsons: Steven and Peter; and her sister, Phyllis (George) Daniels of Charleston, WV.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Fay and her parents, Joseph and Caroline Heiman.
Funeral from The Daleiden Lake St. Mortuary Thursday, April 3, 2003 at 9 a.m. to St. Rita of Cascia Church at 9:30 a.m. Interment in Mt. Hope cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2003 from 2-8 p.m. with a liturgical wake service at 4 p.m. at The Daleiden Lake St. Mortuary, 220 N. Lake St., Aurora. 630-898-8634.

Beverly J. Pate
Beverly J. Pate, 68, of Algonquin, formerly of Elgin, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2003 in the University of Illinois Medical Center, Chicago, IL.
She was born October 1, 1934 in Elgin, the daughter of Kurt and Edith (Nielson) Steffens.
Beverly had worked as a Special Education Teachers Assistant for School District U-46 for many prior to her retirement.
Survivors include her husband, Dale F. Pate of Algonquin, IL; two children, Cynthia (Arland Jr.) Elstrom and Craig Pate both of Algonquin, IL; four grandchildren, Anthony, Douglas, Tiffany and William; her brother, Neil (Diane) Steffens of Elgin, IL; and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Douglas Pate.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 1 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Dorothy M. Schambach
Dorothy M. Schambach, 86, of Elgin passed away Sunday, March 30, 2003 in the Alexian Brothers Medical Center, Elk Grove Village, IL.
She was born September 7, 1916 in Francesville, IN, the daughter of Ernst and Emma Anliker.
Dorothy had worked at the Elgin National Watch Factory for many years. Her most noble occupation was being a loving wife, caring mother and the "Best" grandmother and great grandmother, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Elgin.
Survivors include her husband, Albert Schambach of Elgin, whom she married on August 25, 1946; three sons, Stanley (Norma) of Elgin, Donald (Leann) and Leslie (Alison) both of St. Charles, IL; a daughter, Carol Schambach of Elgin; 11 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a brother, Elmer (Emilie) Anliker of IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers; and four sisters.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM in the Apostolic Christian Church, 2740 W. Highland Ave, Elgin. Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian Church cemetery.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 1:30 to 3:30 and 5 to 9 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and on Wednesday in the church from 9 AM until the time of services.
Memorials may be made to the Apostolic Christian Resthaven, 2750 W. Highland Ave, Elgin, IL, 60123.

Lucille D. Bethke
Lucille D. Bethke, 70, of Elgin, formerly of West Dundee, died Friday, March 30, 2001 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin.
She was born April 9, 1930 in Elgin, the daughter of H. W. and Sadie Dahlstrom.
She was a life long resident of the area and was active as a volunteer at the Gail Borden Library of Elgin.
Survivors include two sons, Mark (Cindy) of Marengo and Joel of Algonquin; and a sister, Delores Johnson of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Maurice.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, April 3, 2001 in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee with Rev. Norm Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Dundee Township cemetery East.
Visitation will be from 12 noon Tuesday until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gail Borden Library C/O Miller Funeral Home, 504 W. Main St., West Dundee, IL, 60118.

Ronald E. Dalluege
Ronald E. Dalluege, 48, of Elgin, passed away Friday, March 30, 2001 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital.
He was born February 20, 1953 in Sterling, IL and was the son of Edward and Vlasta (Krchak) Dalluege.
Ron was the President and owner of ADC and Associates, an architectural firm located in Elgin.
Surviving are his daughter, Allison Dalluege of Geneva; his father, Edward and step mother, Bernice of Elgin; a sister, Diane (Ronald) Cook of Floyds Knobs, IN; and his close friend, Carrie Mellom of West Dundee, IL.
He was preceded in death by his mother in 1983.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 11:30 AM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with the Rev. Mark Tusken officiating. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
