Patrick "Leo" L. Rafferty
Patrick "Leo" L. Rafferty, age 74, a resident of Sugar Camp, WI. for the past 12 years, formerly of Long Lake, Illinois for many years, died on September 11, 2001 in Meadowbrook Manor, in Naperville, IL.
He was born in Chicago, IL. on July 21, 1927 to Patrick and Agnes Rafferty (nee Connelly).
He was an Accountant for the Teletype Corp. in Skokie for over 40 years and was Past President of the Illinois Teletype Pioneers, Chapter 75 and member of the Teletype Credit Union Board.
He was a very active member of the St. Kuneguanda Catholic Church in Sugar Camp, Wisconsin and a 4th Degree Member of the Eagle River Knights of Columbus Council as well as a former active member of St. Bede Catholic Church in Ingleside and member of the Post Pius XII Council as well as Past Grand Knight.
He was a Sargeant in the U.S. Army in WW II and also served in the European Theater in the Big Red One.
He enjoyed golf, bowling, softball, having won several Chicago softball championships.
He is survived by his wife Sharon Rafferty (nee Brown) of Sugar Camp, WI., his daughter Morna (Bobby) Gaylor of Long Lake; his grandsons Dakota, Austin and Hayden Gaylor, all of Long Lake; by his sister Mary (Jack) Seaton of Naperville; his nephew Thomas Seaton of Chicago; and his nieces Mary Bridget (Gary) Sosnowski and Geri (Marty) Karlin, all of Naperville; Jackie (Ray) Pilger, Norridge; along with great nieces and great nephews who also survive. He was preceded in death by his daughter Laura Maureen Rafferty in 1969.
Friends of the family may call from 4-9 P.M. on Thursday, September 13, 2001 at the K.K. HAMSHER FUNERAL HOME, LTD., 12 N. Pistakee Lake Road, Fox Lake, Illinois (in the Chapel on the Lake). All are asked to go direct to St. Bede Catholic Church, 36455 N. Wilson Rd. in Ingleside for 10:00 A.M. Mass on Friday. Burial will follow at St. Mary's cemetery, Fremont Center, IL.

Marion Webb Ray
Funeral services for Marion Webb Ray, 78, of Mundelein is 11:30 a.m. Friday, at the Community Protestant Church 418 N. Prairie Ave. Mundelein. Rev. Kenneth Press will officiate. Interment will follow in Diamond Lake cemetery, Mundelein. Webb was born November 19, 1922 in Mundelein and died Monday, September 10, 2001 at the V.A. Medical Center in North Chicago, IL. A lifelong resident of Mundelein, Webb served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII, he was a member and past Commander of VFW Post 7191 of Mundelein, a member of the Fort Hill Historical Society and a past member of the Masons.
He is survived by his two sons William (Kathleen) Ray of Rockford, Kevin Ray of Mundelein, his brother Charles (Frances) Ray of Detroit, MI., five sisters Vivian Johnson of Mundelein, Pearl Huebel and Ethel Hankins of New Albany, IN., Betty Ruth (George) Firnbach of Wauconda, Patsy Gimbel of Ogdon, Utah; two granddaughters Abigail, Eryn Rose and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Esther, his mother and father Will and Ethel M. Ray, five brothers Vance, Ridgely, Knedler, Ted, Jack and his sister Jean Hannah.
Visitation is 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Kristan Funeral Home P.C., 219 W. Maple Ave. (Route 176) Mundelein. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Community Protestant Church.

Janice E. Wilcox
Janice E. Wilcox (nee LaMack), age 72, passed away at home in Waukegan on September 11, 2001.
She was born in Racine, Wisconsin on May 18, 1929 to Lester J. Lamack and Hattie E. (nee Reed) Lamack. On June 6, 1958 at the Congregational Church in Racine, she married Lloyd H. Wilcox of Center Moriches, Long Island, New York. They moved to Waukegan after their marriage.
Janice taught in the Waukegan Unified School District for 18 years, first as a kindergarten teacher at McCall and then as a first grade teacher at Greenwood. She also taught in Racine County, Wisconsin where she got her first teaching job because she could play the piano. She enjoyed playing the piano all her life and loved to needlepoint Christmas magnets.
She was a member of the Little Fort Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Wisconsin Society of Mayflower Descendents; and she was a life member of the Hereditary Order of Descendents of Colonial Governors. She was also a life member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association. She graduated from Lawrence College in Appleton, WI. in 1952.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd two months ago and her mother.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law John and Jann Ozzello Wilcox of Edina, MN., her daughter Jane Wilcox; her granddaughter Jennifer Wilcox of Edina, MN.; her father and his wife Lester and Ruth LaMack of Green Bay, WI., her brother and sister-in-law Warren and Jean LaMack of Chelmsford, MA., and many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at PETERSON AND PATCH FUNERAL HOME, 408 N. Sheridan Rd., Waukegan from 4 to 6 P.M., Sunday, September 16, 2001. A private burial of the remains will take place in Racine, WI. and Center Moriches, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 777 Central Ave., Highland Park, IL. 60035.

Peter R. Young
Peter R. Young, 87, of Hawthorn Lakes, Vernon Hills, IL, passed away Mon. September 10, 2001 at his home. He was born May 29, 1914 in Pittsburgh, PA and was a former 40 year resident of Glencoe. He was also a former resident of Evanston and has lived in Vernon Hills for the past three years.
Surviving are three children, Peter (Susan) Young, Jr. of Wadsworth, Douglas Young of Evanston and Linda Koco of Cleveland, Ohio; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren and his sister Mary Fedorka of St. Louis, MO.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Laura S. Young in 1962, by his second wife Betty B. Young in 2001 and by his brother Rudolph Yuriga.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 12 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave., (Rt. 120) Libertyville. Interment services will be held at Ridgewood cemetery in Des Plaines on Thursday. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday until time of services. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in his memory.

Katina Zagoras
Katina Zagoras, age 80, of Waukegan, Illinois passed away September 11, 2001 at the home of her daughter in Green Oaks. She was born May 9, 1921 in Andros, Greece.
She was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church and belonged to the Philoptochos Society. Her hobby was gardening and she loved to walk.
Survivors include her 3 children: Frances (Ken) Pike of Dousman, WI., Frieda (John) Hansen of Green Oaks, IL., and Paul (Yunako) Zagoras of Madison, WI., 4 grandchildren: Bradley Pike, Justin Pike, Katina and Michael Hansen, 2 brothers: Milton and Nicholas Gerakari of Athens, Greece, and 2 sisters Vassilikoula Helmis and Anoula Boulgari, both of Athens. She was preceded in death by her husband Michael in 1990.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, September 14, 2001 at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church with Fr. John Sardis officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Garden of Memories in North Chicago. Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M. Thursday at MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF GURNEE, 305 cemetery Road. Trisagion Service will be at 6:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church.

E. Richard Clute
E. Richard Clute, 86, of Libertyville, IL, passed away Monday, September 9, 2002 at the Winchester House in Libertyville. He was born July 16, 1916 in Elgin, IL, and had lived in Illinois and St. Louis, Missouri for most of his life.
Surviving are his son Richard (Randee) Clute of Libertyville and grandchildren, Lanyon, Julie, Michael and Sarah.
Private services are being held at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME in Libertyville.

Darin L. Dimitroff
Darin L. Dimitroff, 38, of Waukegan, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2002 at his home. He was born October 29, 1963 in Waukegan, and was a member of St. Dismas Church. He was employed at Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago as a chemical operator.
Survivors include his son Darin, Jr. of Waukegan; his parents Tom and Eileen Dimitroff of Waukegan; 2 brothers Daniel (Denise) Dimitroff of Waukegan and Dean (Janet) Dimitroff of St. Michael, MA; 2 sisters Debra Dimitroff of San Antonio, TX and Dawn Dimitroff of Waukegan; his grandmother Ellen Carpenedo of Green Bay, WI; and several nieces, a nephew, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2002 at St. Dismas Church, 2600 Sunset Ave., Waukegan with Fr. Jack Ryan officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Friday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Trust Fund for Darin, Jr. Arrangements entrusted to MARSH FUNERAL HOME.

Stephen Duncan
Stephen J. Duncan, 61, of Pekin died Monday, September 9, 2002, at the Pekin Hospital Emergency Room.
Born May 31, 1941 in Peru to Mungo and Margaret Watson Duncan. He married Helen Olivares on December 2, 1967 in Waukegan. Mr. Duncan worked as the senior map recorder for the North Shore Gas Company in Waukegan for over 30 years, retiring September 1, 1995.
Survivors include his former wife and dear friend, Helen; his mother, of Pekin; two daughters: Yvonne (Matthew) Gall of Lake Villa and Bonnie Duncan of Winthrop Harbor; four grandchildren: Two sisters: Becky A. Phillips and Pamela R. Hootman, both of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Mr. Duncan was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in rural Morton, where services will be at 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Dr. Steven E. Hauter will officiate. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at PRESTON-HANELY FUNERAL HOME, Pekin Chapel. (309) Info: 346-2176
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, September 16, at Highland Memorial Park in Libertyville. The Rev. William Swanger will officiate.

Richard McLaughlin
Richard McLaughlin, 50, a former 20 year resident of Libertyville, died suddenly June 24, 2002 in Portsmouth in the Commonwealth of Dominica. At the time of his death, Mr. McLaughlin was a medical student at Ross University Dominica. He was a graduate of Colorado at Boulder. Richard received his MS in Biology from Northeastern Illinois University.
He is survived by his father John (Sandy Oldershaw) of Chicago; his sisters Lynn Herlihy of New York, and Pamela (David) Crawford of Zion; his brother James of Mundelein; and his niece and nephews Michael, Erin and Brian Herlihy. He is preceded in death by his mother Marie and his brother John III.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 14 at MCMURROUGH CHAPEL, 101 Park Place, Libertyville, with the Rev. Fr. Robert Oldershaw officiating. Interment at Ascension cemetery. Visitation is on Saturday, 1 hr prior to service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Chicago Botanical Garden, 1000 Lake Cook Rd. Glencoe, IL 60022 would be greatly appreciated.

Frances D. Nuuttila
Frances D. Nuuttila, 96, of Waukegan, IL passed away September 9, 2002 at the St. Therese Medical Center of Waukegan, IL. She was born November 26, 1905 in Mundelein, IL and had been a resident of Waukegan, IL for over 40 years and a member of the First Baptist Church of Waukegan, IL.
Frances is survived by her two children: Ann Marie Norberg of Maplewood, MN and Charles Nuuttila of Ingleside, IL; and a grandson, Greg Norberg of New York, NY.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Frank Nuuttila.
Services and interment will be private.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the SYMONDS LAKES Funeral Home & Crematory, 111 W. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL.

Lucille E. Petersen
Lucille E. Petersen, 81, of Libertyville, IL, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at the Lake Forest Hospital. She was born September 12, 1920 in the Diamond Lake area of Mundelein and had been a Libertyville resident for most of her life.
Surviving are 2 sons, Raymond (Donna) Petersen of Libertyville and Dennis (Linda) Petersen of McHenry; 4 grandchildren, Shane (Shereen) Petersen of Spring Grove, Jason Petersen of McHenry, Victoria (fiancee Perry Lewis) Petersen of Mancos, CO and Rhea Petersen of Lake Villa; 2 great grandchildren, Ethan and Rilea Petersen; 5 sisters, Arlene Parker of Dallas, TX, Violet Longcore of Vero Beach, FL, Ellen (Howard) Peters of McHenry, Ruby (Jerry) Nordness of Lake Villa and Gertrude (Vern) Stolte of Wisconsin; 2 brothers, Gilbert and James Thatcher of Whitewater, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Celena (nee La Magdeleine) Thatcher, by her brothers Thomas, John, Alfred and Wilber Thatcher and by her sisters, Babe Streicher and Elaine Titus.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, Saturday, September 14 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176), Libertyville. Interment will follow at Ivanhoe cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Brain Tumor Assn., 2720 River Road, Des Plaines, IL 60018.

Helen Marie Tessin
Helen Marie Tessin, 69, of Zion, passed away Monday, September 9, 2002. She was born June 10, 1933 in LaCrosse, WI.
Survivors include her children Bob Spangler of Poynette, WI, Ken Spangler of Gurnee, Gwen Williams of Zion, Brock Spangler of Kenosha, WI, Bill Tessin of Zion and Dan Tessin of Zion; 14 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a brother William (Elaine) Buchner of Phoenix, AZ; and a sister-in-law Betty Buchner of LaCrosse, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Marie Buchner, a brother Robert Buchner, and a sister Virginia.
Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2002 at St. Patrick's Church (new church), 15000 W. Wadsworth Rd. in Wadsworth. Visitation will be from 9:15 a.m. until time of services. A luncheon will follow at the Church.
