Merrill Pound
Merrill Keith Pound, 50, formerly of Decatur, died suddenly July 12, 2003.
Beloved husband of Kathryn L. (nee Forestell); loving father of Kyle, Kolin, Korey and Karson; beloved son of Myrta Clare (nee Scott) and Merrill E. Pound; loving brother of Roger, Mike and Debra (Dave) Rathje; and many nieces and nephews.
Private funeral and burial services will be by the McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Assn.

Ralph Beyer
Services for Ralph Joseph Beyer, 88, of Effingham were held at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday) in the Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial was in Arborcrest Memorial Park in Effingham.
He died Friday, July 18, 2003.
He was a retired salesman for Hulman and Co. in Terre Haute, Ind.
Survivors include his wife, Laurene; son, Richard Beyer of Landisville, Pa.; daughters Carol Utz of Effingham, Judi Macklin of Watson and Margie Brewer of Bethany; 11 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
One grandson preceded him in death.

Audrey Taylor
Services for Audrey C. Taylor, 81, of Sullivan were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Sullivan. Burial, with military rites, was in Greenhill Cemetery in Sullivan.
She died at 7:30 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2003 in Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur.
Born Jan. 24, 1922, she was the daughter of Claude V. and Susie E. Locey Anderson. She was a retired teacher of the Cerro Gordo School Dist. and was a Marine veteran of World War II. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Order of Eastern Star Crystal Chapter #39 and the Retired Teachers Assn.
Surviving are her son, Philip K. Taylor of Sicklerville, N.J.; daughters, Suellen Baker of Bethalto and Sharon E. Norris of Bethany; four grandchildren; and a brother, Van Anderson of Rockford.

Elmer Eckel
Weeden Elmer Eckel, 74, of Lovington died at 5 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2002 in the Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Mt. Zion.
Graveside services with military rites will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Keller Cemetery in Lovington with visitation one hour prior to the service in the McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Lovington.
Mr. Eckel was born July 7, 1928 in Clay County, the son of Lee Roy and Jennie Belle Wood Eckel. He was in the Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict, retired from Wagner Casting Company in Decatur after 19 1/2 years, a member of the Lovington American Legion for 50 years, member of the 40-8, member of the Moose Chapter 36 in Decatur and the Lovington Christian Church. He married Esther L. Fleischauer Aug. 18, 1951 in Lovington.
He is survived by his wife, Esther of Lovington; daughters, Linda Moore of Lovington and Betty Culp of Champaign; son, David Eckel of Lovington; brother, Duane Eckel of Bourbonnais; sister, Delores Hoakenstad of Pasco, Wash.; five grandchildren, Tina, Candy and Ken, all of Arizona, Heather of Champaign and Amanda of Lovington; seven great-grandchildren; and also a very special niece, Amber Grass of Kennwick, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Memorials are suggested to the Lovington Ambulance Service or to the Lovington Christian Church.
He was a devoted husband, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

‘Frosty’ Frost
Funeral services for Carl E. "Frosty" Frost, 65, of Lovington were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2002 in the McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Lovington.
He died at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2002 in the Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur.
Mr. Frost was born April 26, 1937 in Chicago, the son of Otto and Mabel Mocabee Frost. He was retired from Firestone and a member of the N.H.R.A. He married Shirley J. Fair Aug. 22, 1958 in Pine Bluff, Ark.
He is survived by his mother, Mabel J. Smith of Lovington; wife, Shirley; daughter, Debra A. Riley and husband Robert of Lovington; grandchildren, Nicholas, Jesse and Amber Riley of Lovington; and brother, Andrew Frost of Lovington.
He was preceded in death by his father.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family for medical expenses or to the Cancer Care Specialist Charitable are suggested.

‘Hezzy’ Lindley
Funeral services for Mrs. Ralph (Sylvia Ethel "Hezzy" Weaver) Lindley, 93, of Sullivan were held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Reed Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas Lowery officiating. Burial was in the Marrowbone Township Cemetery in Bethany.
She died at 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2002 in the Sullivan Health Care Center.
Mrs. Lindley was born July 1, 1909 in Bethany, the daughter of Lonnie and Emma Bonner Weaver. Sylvia retired as a part time employee of Hezzy’s Restaurant, was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time grooming her yard. She married Ralph Lindley Feb. 6, 1936, and he preceded her in death March 3, 1990.
Survivors include her nephews, Dale Eckel and his wife Louise of Decatur, Glenn Weaver and his wife Jean and Richard Karnes and his wife Marilyn, all of East Alton; nieces, Joyce Kirby of Worden and Judy Vogel and her husband Robert of Altamont, all of whom will be missing her very much.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and five sisters.

Mary Wiltermood
Mary Lou Wiltermood, 88, of Allenville passed away at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2002 in the Mattoon Health Care Center.
Funeral services celebrating her life will begin at 2 p.m. Friday in the Schilling Funeral Home in Mattoon with the Rev. Henry Wilson Sr. officiating. Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service on Friday afternoon at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Edgar County Cemetery in Paris.
Mrs. Wiltermood was born Jan. 9, 1914 in Edgar County, a daughter of Harry and Estella Morris Robinson. Her parents preceded her in death.
Mrs. Wiltermood owned and operated a quarter horse farm south of Newton. She was the owner-operator of the Newton Coffee Ship and also was employed by Newton High School in the maintenance department. She was then employed by Eastern Illinois University and later retired in 1985 from General Electric. Mrs. Wiltermood was a member of the Christian Church in Allenville.
She is survived by her daughter, Doris Wiltermood of Allenville; two stepdaughter, Violet Phillippi and husband Junior of Lerna and Janet Bryant and husband Frank of Mattoon; five grandchildren, Debra Wofford of Peoria, Joe Wiltermood and wife Holly of Neoga, Junior Wiltermood and wife Ginger of Windsor, Mary Wofford and husband Rick of Windsor and Lyle Wiltermood and wife Patty of Windsor; 13 step grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 11 step great-grandchildren; and one step great-great-grandson.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Allenville Christian Church.

Donald Brockway
Graveside services for Donald Dean Brockway, 76, of Peoria, Ariz. were held at 11 a.m. Monday in Graceland Cemetery in Decatur with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. The Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He died Sunday, July 7, 2002 in Peoria.
Born Aug. 5, 1925 in Lake City, he was a son of Fred C. and Nellie P. Brockway. He was retired from Morgan Sash and Door and served in the Navy during World War II.
Survivors include a son, Danny Brockway of Texas; daughters, Donna Brockway of Arizona and Mrs. Ronald (Linda) Yates of California; brother, Norman Brockway of Wisconsin; sisters, Mrs. Bill (Phyllis) Eckert of Moweaqua, Nancy Williby of Decatur and Mrs. Horace (Alberta) Courtney of Mississippi; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
One sister preceded him in death.
