GALESBURG - John P. Hardin, 54, 39 Arnold St., died at 9:03 p.m. Wednesday (July 30, 2003) in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Harding, William O.
October 18, 2003
RIO - William O. "Bill" Harding, 58, Rio, died Thursday (Oct. 16, 2003) in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born April 21, 1945 a son of William and Mary Lawson Harding.
He married Linda R. Johnson on June 4, 1967, in Rio.
Surviving are his wife, Linda; one daughter, Melissa (and Mike) Smith, Rio; one son, Jason (and Jennifer) Harding, Keller, Texas; two sisters, Sandra Sherretts and Mona Harding, both of Milwaukee, Wis.; one brother, Rick Harding, Antioch, Tenn.; one granddaughter; and two stepgranddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He graduated from ROVA High School in 1963.
He owned and operated the Rio Printing Company and was the publisher of the New Windsor Advertiser for 34 years. He had previously worked at the East Moline State Hospital.
He was a member of the Rio Presbyterian Church and the Rio Masonic Lodge; was a past member of the Rio Fire Department and had once served as the Rio Village Marshall.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Rio Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home, Alpha, where a memorial fund has been established.

Harding, Edwin L.
July 29, 2004
GALESBURG - Edwin L. "Cub" Harding, 82, 1160 W. Fremont St., died at 3:49 p.m. Wednesday (July 28, 2004) in his home.
He was born Aug. 9, 1921, in Galesburg, the son of William O. and Dora I. Douglas Harding.
He married Stella Crouch in 1941. He married Evilo L. Wingo Rollins on Sept. 1, 1951, in Knoxville. She died March 27, 1997.
Surviving are a son, Clarence "Bo" Harding, Laguna Hills, Calif.; a daughter, Marjorie G. (and Pete) Calderone, Galesburg; two stepdaughters, Maxine M. (and Larry) Hendricks, Galesburg, and Joan M. (and Chuck) Allen, Knoxville; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, five sisters, two stepsons, a grandson, and a great-granddaughter.
He was a 1939 graduate of Galesburg High School.
He worked for the former Gale Products Division of Outboard Marine Corporation for 27 years, retiring in 1983. He later worked as a driver and salesman for several area soft drink dealers for 11 years.
He played for Gale Golf League.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with the Deacon Jim Haneghan officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or to the Hemo-Dialysis Unit at Cottage Hospital.

Harkness, Franklin D.
February 11, 2004
ELMWOOD - Franklin D. Harkness, 64, Elmwood, died at 2:20 a.m. Monday (Feb. 9, 2004) in OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
He was born Feb. 25, 1939, in Elmwood, the son of Alden B. and Alta LaVonne Harkness.
He married Victoria Cox on Nov. 10, 1961, in Elmwood.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Joseph C. (and Jodi) Harkness, Yates City; three daughters, Dawn E. (and Larry) Ennis, Elmwood, Diane L. (and Scott) Malone, Odessa, Texas, and Marjorie L. (and Kyle) Harsler, Minooka; two brothers, Dexter (and Donna) Harkness, Farmington, and Jerry (and Jeanine) Harkness, Peoria; a sister, Marjorie (and Ronald) Camp, Elmwood; and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a grandchild.
He was a dockworker at Caterpillar in Mossville for 35 years and was a police officer in Elmwood from 1963 to 1967.
He was a member of Elmwood United methodist Church, where he was a trustee, on the board for the SHARE program and involved with MANNA-Meals on Wheels and Promise Keepers. He was director of the soap box derby at the Elmwood Fall Festival the past eight years.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday in United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Sharon Treptow officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Patterson Funeral Home, Elmwood, is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to MANNA or the Elmwood Fall Festival soap box derby.

Harriman, Elizabeth M.

GALESBURG - Elizabeth M. "Betty" Harriman, 99, 1448 E. Main St., died at 10:55 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 29, 2003) at OSF St. Mary Medical Center.

GALESBURG - Russell C. Hartfield, 86, Toulon, formerly of Galesburg, died at 12:08 a.m. today (Aug. 9, 2004), in Toulon Healthcare and Rehab Center.

Harvey, Ruth Ann
August 17, 2003
PEORIA - Ruth Ann Harvey, 71, Peoria died at 10:13 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 16, 2003) in Methodist Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 23, 1931, in Carman, the daughter of Raymond and Mildred Tompkins Anderson.
She married Dewayne Harvey on Nov. 9, 1951, in Stronghurst.
Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Chris (and Richard) Wasik, Peru; a son, Craig (and Gail) Harvey, Morning Sun, Iowa; a sister, Laura Westerbeck, Des Peres, Mo.; two brothers, Lee Anderson in Texas and Jay Anderson, Carman; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
She graduated from Stronghurst High School in 1949.
She worked as a secretary for KBUR Radio Station in Burlington, Iowa, for six years and for a custom construction company in Ottawa for several years. More recently, she was a secretary for APACE Architects in Peoria for 10 years, retiring in 1994.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. Burial will be in the Stronghurst Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Stronghurst Ambulance Service.

Hass, Joann

ADAIR - Joann Hass, 55, Adair, formerly of Galesburg, died Saturday (Dec. 20, 2003) in McDonough District Hospital, Macomb.
She was born Dec. 23, 1947, in Hopedale, the daughter of James Roy and Juanita Vickers Prewett.
She married Charles Hass on April 8, 1986, in Monmouth.
Surviving are her husband; five daughters, Carol (and Tom) Ross, Pontiac, Bonnie Kemp, Celena (and Tony) West and Susann (and Mickey) Jones, all of Galesburg, and Jeanine (and Fred) Allen, Delavan; two sons, Darrell Diemer, Pontiac, and Russel (and Mary) Kindhart, Galesburg; three sisters, Hazel Rauch, Elvaston, Bertha Stevenson, Abingdon, and Judy (and Albert) Peterson, Gorin, Mo.; a brother, Lewis (and Viola) Prewett, Warsaw; 21 grandchildren; 15 nieces and nephews; and 34 great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and an infant daughter, Diane Christine.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Lamporte Funeral Home, Hamilton, where visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Hamilton.
A memorial fund has been established.

Hasselbacher, Lewis L.
January 3, 2004
WILLIAMSFIELD - Lewis L. Hasselbacher, 94, a resident of the Knox County Nursing Home, formerly of Williamsfield, died at 9:10 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 1, 2004) in the nursing home.
He was born Oct. 1, 1909, in Peoria County, the son of Joseph Ludwig and Minnie S. Shane Hasselbacher.
He married Mildred Koreane Craig in 1933. He married Marie Miars on Dec. 30, 1947, in Iowa. She died Oct. 28, 1987.
Surviving are a son, Larry L. (and Lyle) Hasselbacher, Princeville; a daughter, Sylvia (and Harley) Stoller, Dawsonville, Ga.; three stepsons, John Miars, Quincy, and Roger Miars and Gerald Miars, both of East Peoria; four stepdaughters, Ruth McCoy, Trivoli, Barbara Stephen, Decatur, Texas, Eileen Hanna, Ferndale, Wash., and Janet (and Bill) Spencer, Williamsfield; a brother, Orville Hasselbacher, Yates City; a sister, Ruth Kelly, Grand Haven, Mich.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; 38 stepgrandchildren; 47 stepgreat-grandchildren; and 22 stepgreat-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, DeRoy "Butch" Hasselbacher, and three brothers.
He farmed near Williamsfield for many years until retiring.
He was a member of the Peoria County Farm Bureau, Princeville Senior Citizens and Williamsfield Senior Citizens, and Princeville United Methodist Church.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Princeville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Allin officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Hammitt-Hott Funeral Home, Princeville, and a half-hour before the service Monday at the church. Burial will be in Brimfield Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to his church.

Harry C. Hatch Jr.
October 9, 2003
GALESBURG - Harry C. Hatch Jr., 76, 421 Pine St., died at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 7, 2003) in Heartland Health Care Center.
He was born Jan. 1, 1927, in Galesburg, the son of Harry Clifford and Wreatha Craig Hatch Sr.
He married Gracie I. Patrick on July 5, 1953, in Gassaway, W.Va.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Dean Hatch, Seneca Falls, N.Y., James (and Penny) Hatch, Burlington, N.C., and Randal (and Lori) Hatch, Galesburg; a daughter, Lisa Hatch, Galesburg; a brother, Dale (and Janice) Hatch, Knoxville; two sisters, Eileen (and Robert) Nichols, Memphis Tenn., and Shirley (and John) Adams, Galesburg; seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by two half-sisters and a great-grandson.
He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1944.
A Navy veteran, he served six years as a radioman in Norfolk, Va., and in the Korean Conflict.
He worked as a letter carrier for 15 years, retiring in May 1981.
He attended Colonial Baptist Church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Colonial Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dave Stroup officiating. No visitation is planned. Cremation will be accorded. Burial will be later. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to his church.

Havens, John M.
August 7, 2004
BUSHNELL - John M. Havens, 90, rural Bushnell, died at 11:25 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 5, 2004) in McDonough District Hospital, Macomb.
He was born Nov. 19, 1913, in Packwood, Iowa, the son of Nelson and Mary Ann Watson Havens.
He married E. Tolitha Bonnett on March 18, 1946, in Bushnell. She died March 20, 2003.
Surviving are a daughter, Susan (and John) Logan, Bushnell; and a brother, Dale (and Twila) Havens, Bushnell. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers.
He farmed in the Bushnell area most of his life.
He was a member of Bushnell-Prairie City School Board from 1960 to 1967; and a member of the Browning Rod and Gun Club and New Philadelphia United Methodist Church.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Martin-Hollis Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mary Jo Williams officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service Monday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Bushnell Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to New Philadelphia United Methodist Church.
