Mrs. Gertrude P. Shelton Dickerson, 86, 701 W. Adams St., Abingdon, died at 5:35 p.m. Sunday November 12, 2000 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday November 15, 2000 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel with the Rev. Annette Faull officiating. Friends may call from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday November 14, 2000 at the Chapel. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Abingdon Cemetery Beautification Fund or to First Congregational United Church of Christ. She was born Sept. 22, 1914, in Knox County, the daughter of George Harry and Lillie Peterson Park. She married Floyd C. Shelton on May 15,1937, in Chicago. He died Feb. 2, 1974. She married Reece M. Dickerson on Dec. 4, 1977, in Abingdon. He died Nov. 2,1997. She was graduated from Galesburg High School in 1931, and from Galesburg Cottage Hospital School of Nursing, where she taught in the early 1960s. She was a registered nurse at Cottage Hospital for 17 years, and was maternity supervisor for seven years. She retired in 1975. She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, Abingdon, and served on the church council. She was a member of the American Nurses Association and the American College of Obstetrical and Gynecological Nurses. She is survived by two sons, Floyd "Clark" Shelton Jr. and Richard K. Shelton, both of Galesburg; and two stepsons, John M. Dickerson, San Diego, Calif., and Samuel R. Dickerson, Sterling, Va.; one daughter, Susan Dechow, Abingdon; one stepdaughter, Elizabeth M. Werner, San Marcos, Calif.; one brother, Donald G. Park, Galesburg; one sister, Gladyce Park DuBois, Hesperia, Calif.; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several stepgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, one brother, one sister and one grandchild.

Mrs. Geraldine D. Roach, 88, of 1143 E. Brooks Street Galesburg, IL, died at 8:48 PM Friday November 10, 2000 at Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg, IL. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Friday November 17, 2000 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Robert Malone officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg. Friends may call from 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. Thursday November 16, 2000 at Chapel. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. She was born on October 8, 1912 in Waverly IL to William L. and Ethel G. (Stillwell) Witherbee. She married Albert C. Roach in Galesburg on May 29, 1930. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1984. She was an inspector at Admiral Appliances for 25 years retiring in 1975. She was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church. She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Barton of Livingston, TX; one sister, Violet Switzer of Galesburg, IL; one brother, Ned Witherbee of Lakeland, FL; two grandchildren, Jeff Barton of Vancouver WA and Tony Barton of Livermore CA, and six great grandchildren. Three brothers preceded her in death.

Mr. Ralph Wiley Beacom, 71, of 1119 E. Main St. Galesburg, IL, died at 2:53 AM Saturday November 11, 2000 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL. Memorial services will be 11:30 AM Wednesday November 15, 2000 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Norman Myer officiating. The Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285 will provide military honors. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or American Legion Post #285. He was born on May 7, 1929 in Mexico MO to Ralph E. and Merle E. (Wiley) Beacom. He was a self-employed carpenter in the Galesburg area for his entire life. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285, Elks Club, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by three daughters, Michelle Bjorkman of Marshalltown, IA, Donna Cooley of Henderson, IL, and Angie Morss of Galesburg, IL; one brother, Richard Beacom of AZ and six grandchildren.

Mr. James Michael 'Moe' Morrison, 51, of 210 North Main Street Alexis, IL, died at 11:27 AM Thursday November 9, 2000 at University of Iowa Medical Center, Iowa City, IA. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Tuesday November 14, 2000 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Steve Rigdon officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg. Friends may call from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday November 13, 2000 at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to the family for the children's education fund. He was born on February 28, 1949 in Galesburg IL to Jack E. and Betty J. (Young) Morrison. He first married Kenlyn E. Grube in Galesburg in January 1968. He then married Teresa J. Ginther in Galesburg on March 25, 1988. He was a conductor for the Pioneer Rail Corporation and the Burlington Northern Railroad for 30 years. He was a member of the Corpus Christi Church in Galesburg. He was also a member of the United Transportation Union Local #195 and a founding member of the Road Knights Motorcycle Club. He served in the National Guard. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Morrison of Alexis, IL; parents, Jack and Betty Morrison of Galesburg IL; five sons, Dustin Ginther of Sturgis, MI, Beau Morrison of Alexis, IL, Jayse Morrison of Alexis, IL, Trent Morrison of Alexis, IL and Troy Morrison of Galesburg, IL; two daughters, Ashtyn Morrison of Alexis, IL and Shelbie Morrison of Alexis, IL; two sisters, Linda Gerard of Pontiac, IL and Patricia Wyatt of Pekin, IL; two brothers, Kevin Morrison and Philip Morrison, both of Galesburg, IL, four grandsons.

Mr. Robert D. Perkins, 67, of 1221 IL Route 41 Galesburg, IL, died at 6:40 PM Friday November 10, 2000 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL. Graveside services will be 11:30 AM Tuesday November 14, 2000 at East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg, with Rev. Tom Larsen officiating. Memorials may be made to the family. He was born on October 10, 1933 in Quincy MI to Duane and Anna (Chase) Perkins. He married Rube Curry in Quincy MI on June 5, 1953. She survives. He worked for the Wonder Bread Company, retiring in 1986. He then worked for Happy Joes Pizza for 10 years. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Galesburg and a Teamster. He is survived by his wife, Rube Perkins of Galesburg, IL; two daughters, Pam Fitch of Abingdon, IL and Mrs. Rick (Linda) Hart of Galesburg, IL; two grandsons, Drew Fitch of Abingdon and J. Hart of Galesburg.

Mrs. Irene M. Wright, 74, of 121 W. Simmons St. Galesburg, IL, died at 2:11 PM Saturday November 11, 2000 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL. Private family memorial services will occur at a later date. Memorials may be made to Galesburg Rescue Mission. She was born on March 26, 1926 in Chicago IL to Robert Curtis and Kathryn (Hamm) Scholl. She married William Edward Stickle in California in 1949. He preceded her in death in December 1969. She then married Clayton L. "Bud" Wright in Wataga IL on May 10, 1973. He preceded her in death on May 10, 1996.She was a member of Mothers of World War II and a Cub Scout den mother.She is survived by four sons, Bryan Stickle of Colona, IL, Dale Stickle of Wataga, IL, Dana Stickle of Dunn, NC and Kurt Stickle of Galesburg, IL, ten grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Ethel I. Thurman, 92, of 801 W. Martin St. Abingdon, IL, died at 3:40 PM, Sunday October 15, 2000 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, IL. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday October 18, 2000 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel with Mrs. Eleanor Landon officiating. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery, Abingdon. Friends may call from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Chapel. She was born on January 14, 1908 in Abingdon to Martin and Lucinda (Derry) Schisler. She married Everett Thurman in Galesburg on August 9, 1926. He preceded her in death in 1966.
She was a seamstress at the Blue Bell Factory for 25 years, retiring in 1965. She was a member of the First Methodist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Lucille Robinson of Shannon, IL; two sons, Donald Thurman and LaVerne Thurman, both of Abingdon, IL; three sisters, Stella Masterson of London Mills, IL, Ruby Ralston of St. Augustine, IL, and Naomi Thurman of Abingdon, IL; one brother, Charles Schisler of Tigard, OR; 25 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Her husband, two sons, three brothers and one sister preceded her in death.

Mr. Raymond H. Brohmstedt, 91, of 2276 Daniel Drive South Galesburg, IL, died at 7:05 PM, Sunday October 15, 2000 at Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg, IL. Memorial services will be 10:00 AM Thursday October 19, 2000 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. David Seitz officiating. Burial will be in Alexis Cemetery, Alexis. Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. Thursday at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association. He was born on July 18, 1909 in Monmouth IL to Ralph J. and Lena M. (Nagel) Brohmstedt. He married Alice Algren in Quincy IL on January 2, 1936. She preceded him in death on April 18, 1979. He then married Virginia Nichols in Merrill WI on December 29, 1982. She survives. He worked for the Fuller Brush Company for 40 years, retiring in 1996. He also was a delivery person for the Knox Laundry. He was a graduate of Brown's Business College in Galesburg. He was a member of the Second United Presbyterian Church in Monmouth, the Galesburg Elks Club and the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post #285. He served in the US Air Force during World War II. His wife, Virginia Brohmstedt of Galesburg, IL; a friend, Cletus Swanson of Peoria, IL; and several nieces and nephews survive him. His first wife and two brothers preceded him in death.

Mr. Ralph "Frog" Dean, 53, of 4112 Washington Road Kenosha, WI, died at 5:12 PM Wednesday October 18, 2000 at his home. There will be no services. Memorials may be made to Galesburg High School Athletic Booster Club - c/o Galesburg High School 1135 W. Fremont St. Galesburg, IL 61401. He was born on November 8, 1946 in Galesburg to Eugene B. and Jessie (Burger) Dean. He was engaged to be married to Carolyn Thompson Suydam of Humble TX. He worked for Admirals, Galesburg then John Deere, Moline, IL; then Bank of America, San Francisco, CA; then Memorex/ IBM San Jose, CA as a Data Processer in all companies. He worked for Sanmina Corp. for the last 7 years in San Jose, Ca and for the last year in Kenosha, WI. He owned and drove sprint cars in California. He is survived by one sister, Marjorie Alexander of Galesburg, IL; three nephews; three great nephews; one niece and four great nieces.

Mrs. Frances Park Anders Sparks, 88, 637 W. Fremont St. Galesburg IL died 9:55 PM October 12, 2000 Thursday in Rosewood Care Center Galesburg, IL. Funeral services will be 10 AM Tuesday October 17, 2000 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Tom Larsen, Trinity Lutheran Church, will officiate. Visitation will be 6:30-8:00 PM Monday at the chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church. She was born in July 7, 1912 in Henderson Grove IL to George Harry and Lillie (Peterson) Park. She married Gordon E. Anderson on April 30, 1938 in Mt. Pleasant IA. He died on April 29, 1971. She later married Kenneth V. Sparks on July 25, 1985 in Galesburg IL. He survives. She worked as a registered nurse at Galesburg Cottage Hospital for several years, retiring in 1972. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, the ELCA, and the Circle of the Church. She was a member of the P.T.A. She was a member of the Cottage Hospital School of Nursing Alumni. She is survived by one son Robert Anderson in Galesburg Il; 3 step sons, Robert Sparks-Mesa, AZ, Phillip Sparks-Galesburg Il, Dean Sparks-Abilene KS.; one daughter Jean Grupe in Galesburg IL one step daughter Teresa O’Reilly in Valrico, FL. One brother-Donald Park Galesburg IL, two sister-Gertrude Dickerson-Abingdon,IL and Gladyce DuBois in Hesperia,CA. Five grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren. Twelve step grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her first husband, one brother, and her parents.

Mrs. Bernadine E. Silvey, 80, of 1106 Parkview Rd. Galesburg Il died 11:55 PM Wednesday October 11, 2000 in Heartland Health Care Center Galesburg. Funeral services will be 10 AM Monday October 16, 2000 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens Galesburg, IL. Friends may call from 2:00-4:00 PM Sunday October 15, 2000 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. She was born on September 8, 1920 in Galesburg IL to Harry E. and Edythe P. (Glaves) Hatfield. She married Elden W. Silvey on September 29, 1940 in Lewistown, MO. He survives. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church Galesburg. She was a member of the VFW Auxillary. She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Louetta Silvey Landon-Manchester, MO; one grandchild and two great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by one son Elden W. Silvey Jr.-9-4-1960 and one brother Robert Earl Hatfield.

Cheryl E. Durbin, 56, 200 E. Harlan St. Monmouth, IL formerly of Knoxville and Galesburg IL died at 8:45 PM Wednesday October 11, 2000 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital. Graveside services will be 10 AM Monday October 16, 2000 in East Linwood Cemetery Galesburg, IL. Mr. Nathan Cooper will officiate the service. Memorials may be made to the Oak Terrace Tenant Organization-Monmouth IL. She was born March 27, 1944 in Galesburg IL to Armon B. and Marjorie M. (McAlister) Miller. She married Frederick L. Durbin in Galesburg IL.
She worked as a Unit Secretary at OSF St. Mary Medical Center. She was a member of the First Christian Churhc in Monmouth, IL. She was a member of the H.A.N.D.S.S. (Handicapped and Non Disabled Support System) in Monmouth IL. She is survived by one son, Kevin M. Durbin of Galesburg IL; one daughter, Kelly J. Fluger of Marengo, IL; two sisters, Janine Baker of Southern Pines, NC and Marlyn Linze of Miami, FL. and three grandchildren-Nathan Eggbrecht, Brandon Durbin, and Jeremy Fluger. Her parents, and one son Cory McLease precede her death.

Mrs. I. Geneva Frey, 88, of 1540 Edgebrook Dr. Galesburg IL died at 8:35 AM Wednesday October 11, 2000 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday October 14, 2000 at the First Church of the Nazarene Galesburg IL. Rev. Ron Scarlett and Rev. James Hazelwood of the church will officiate. Friends may call 6:30-8:00 PM Friday October 13, 2000 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Galesburg IL. Memorials may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene. She was born May 23, 1912 in Alexis, IL to James E. and Mae (Briggs) House. She first married Francis D. Tingley Sr in 1933. He died in February of 1966. She later married Floyd G. Frey on April15, 1967 in Galesburg, IL. He preceded her in death February 2, 1992. She worked as a Mental Health Technician for former Galesburg State Research Hospital in Galesburg, IL., retiring in 1978. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Galesburg. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and the Womens Relief Corp. She is survived by three sons, F. David "Bud" Tingley Jr of Columbus IN, Robert R. "Bob" Tingley of Galesburg IL, and James E. Tingley of Bullhead AZ; two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Carolyn J.) McNeil of Roscoe,IL and Jean I. Stanger of Abingdon, IL.; nineteen grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren. Her parents, both husbands, one brother, two sisters, one son, one daughter, and one grandson preceded her in death.
