Lucille Hamby, 95. formerly of Raleigh and Harrisburg, died 12:55 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2002, at Benton Healthcare.
Arrangements are pending at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia.

Bonnie Gertrude Barton
Bonnie Gertrude Barton, 86, of 460 Barton Trail Road, Eldorado, died 9:20 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2002, at her residence.
Services will be private. Visitation is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2002, at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado.
She was born Jan. 26, 1916, in Harrisburg to Maude (Brown) and the late Wriley Fox. On June 9, 1934, she married Wilburn Barton.
She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Eldorado.
She is survived by a son, James W. (Donna) Barton of Owensboro, Ky.; two daughters, Helen Jean Adkisson and Jane Barton, both of Eldorado; nine brothers and sisters; a grandchild, Jason Mathew (Amanda) Barton; and two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Justin Barton.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice and can be left at the funeral home.

Dorothy Lee Schwartz
Dorothy Lee Schwartz, 79, of Galatia, died 9:45 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2002, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Galatia.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2002, at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with the Rev. Vola Sittig officiating.
Burial will be in Webber Campground. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2002, at the funeral home.
She was born March 17, 1923, in Galatia to the late Albert and Lillie (Ramsey) Jerdon. On Nov. 4, 1938, she married Emerson Schwartz in Mt. Vernon, Ind.
She was a member of Carrier Mills Baptist Church. She worked at the dress factory in Eldorado for three years, and she worked at the cap factory in Harrisburg for 15 years. She also drove a school bus for Galatia Unit 1 School District.
She is survived by a son, Garry Schwartz of Galatia; a daughter, Darline Nevious of Galatia; a sister, Leona Irvin of Galatia; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Bill Jerdon; and a sister, Lorene Goolsby.

Ella Lucinda (Smith) Davis
Ella Lucinda (Smith) Davis, 90, of Springfield, Mo., formerly of McLeansboro, died 4:05 a.m. Monday, May 27, 2002, at Springfield Rehab Center.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Bill Reed officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery in McLeansboro. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2002, at the funeral home.

Neva Shelton
Neva Shelton, 88, of Harrisburg, died 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2002, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg. Burial will be in Sunset Hill cemetery, Harrisburg. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2002, at the funeral home.
She was born Jan. 6, 1914 in Harrisburg to the late Bert Dunn and Ruth Denny. On July 30, 1940, she married John R. Shelton, who preceded her in death March 9, 1981.
She was a homemaker and a member of the McKinley Avenue Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie (Charles) Baldwin, Mount Vernon; two granddaughters, Laurie (Darrin) Barton and Amy (Brad) Smith, both of Harrisburg; and one great-grandson, Sebastian Barton of Harrisburg.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Lorene Towles.

Virginia Lee Pearce
Virginia Lee Pearce, 75, of 1303 S. Roosevelt St., Harrisburg, died 12:50 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2002, at Saline Care Center.
Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2002 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg with the Rev. Dewayne Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn cemetery in Harrisburg. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2002, at the funeral home.
She was born Sept. 29, 1926, in Saline County to the late Dan and Gladys (Rude) Hilliard. On June 14, 1947, she married Leslie Pearce, who survives.
She was a homemaker and a member of Dorrisville Baptist Church in Harrisburg. She was a member of the Happy Homemakers and the Bible Searchers Sunday School Class.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Sharon (Richard) Hazley of Harrisburg; a brother, J.P. (Dana) Hilliard of Harrisburg; two grandchildren, Kristin (Paul) Melton of Norris City and Andrea (Bob) McGee of Mt. Prospect; a great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Melton; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Dailey.

Madge Thompson
Madge Thompson, 85, of 1440 Wayne Road, Galatia (Harco community), died 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2002, at her residence.
There will be no visitation or services. Private burial will be in the Salem cemetery in Carrier Mills. Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born March 20, 1917, in Carrier Mills to the late Edgard and Urtus (Holmes) Thompson.
She is survived by a brother, Elbert "Jack" Thompson of Galatia; an aunt, Blanche Thompson; and several cousins.

Verla Georgia Doerr
Verla Georgia Doerr, 73, of Eldorado, died 1:47 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2002, at the Eldorado Care Center.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2002, at Wolf Creek cemetery in Eldorado with the Rev. W.R. Baker officiating. There will be no visitation. Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born Dec. 4, 1928, in Eldorado to Richard and Jessie (Trout) Copeland. She was married to John A. Doerr, who preceded her in death in July 1977.
She was a member of the American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries.
She is survived by three sons, John D. Doerr of Eldorado, Larry J. Doerr of Winthrop Harbor, and Clancy L. Doerr of Eldorado; two daughters, Penny A. Jones and Patsy A. Jones, both of Eldorado; a brother, Frank Allen of Eldorado; a sister, Martha Russell of Eldorado; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law; and the special staff of Eldorado Care Center.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Jackie Copeland; a grandson, Robin Lee Doerr; a sister-in-law; four brothers-in-law; two sons-in-law; two nieces and a nephew.

Cecil Michael 'Mike' McAnnally
Cecil Michael "Mike" McAnnally, 48, of 390 Watson Road, Thompsonville, died 9:10 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2002, at his residence.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2002, at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Bernie Cowgill officiating. Burial will be in Salem cemetery in Carrier Mills. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2002, at the funeral home.
He was born Feb. 26, 1954, in Saline County to the late Wilburn McAnnally and the former Mamie Fitzgerald, who survives.
He was a member of the Dorrisville Social Brethren Church.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two brothers, Don McAnnally of Thompsonville and Randy McAnnally of Harrisburg. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the family.

Mildred L. Tanner
Mildred L. Tanner, 80, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Carrier Mills, died Tuesday, March 19, 2002.
Memorial services were held.
She is survived by two daughters, a son-in-law, a grandson, a brother, his wife, and a sister. She was the widow of Charles Tanner.

Lucille Brown Schreiner
Lucille Brown Schreiner, 69, of Manteno, formerly of Harrisburg, died Tuesday, April 30, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2002, at First Baptist Church in Manteno with the Rev. Ron Early and the Rev. Earl Lawson officiating. Burial will be in Bloom cemetery. Visitation is 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2002, at Brown Funeral Home in Manteno.
She is survived by two daughters, two sons, two daughters-in-law, a son-in-law, a brother, a sister-in-law, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
