Evelyn Niermann, nee Zimmer, 77, of Waterloo, died April 17, 2009, in St. Louis, Mo. She was born April 9, 1932, in Steeleville, the daughter of the late Edwin and Emma (nee Leubkemann) Zimmer. Mrs. Niermann is survived by her husband, Robert Niermann; children Jane (Dale) Yates of Waterloo and Sally (Joseph) Master and Carl Niermann, both of St. Louis, Mo.; and grandchildren Sarah and Julia Yates and Willa, Nathaniel, Emma and Elinor Master; along with sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by brothers Edwin Jr. and Wilbert Zimmer. Mrs. Niermann volunteered at Nice Twice At The Depot and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waterloo and Monroe County Home Extension. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. Funeral was at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waterloo with Pastor Tony Troup officiating. Mrs. Kolmer was buried at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery in Waterloo. Memorials may be made to her church or Gibault Catholic High School.

William Postlewait, 88, of St. Louis, Mo., died April 17, 2009, in St. Louis, Mo. He was born July 19, 1920 in Tulsa, Okla., the son of the late Buress and Mabel (nee Ballard) Postlewait. Mr. Postlewait is survived by his sons, Buck (Cheryl) Postlewait of Cheraw, SC., and Jerry (Carol) Postlewait of Waterloo; grandchildren Shelly Postlewait and William (Deanna), Samuel and Timothy Postlewait; great-grandchild Tyler; sisters Dorothy Maxwell and Joanne Jacobs; and dear friend Jean Mitchell. He was preceded in death by a sister. Mr. Postlewait was a veteran of World War II and retired from McDonald-Douglas. Visitation and funeral were at Quernheim Funeral Home with Father Don Blaes officiating. Mr. Postlewait was buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo.

Exil Mae Webb, nee McKinney, 89, of Waterloo, died April 18, 2009. She was born Nov. 24, 1919 in Butler County, Kent., the daughter of the late Eben and Oma (nee Graham) McKinney. Mrs. Webb is survived by her children Sonjua (Robert) Clark of Grove, Okla., Pam (John) Neumeyer of Waterloo and Rick Baxter of Belleville; and grandchildren Paul (Tiffany) Clark, Tony (Geri) Clark, Chris (Laura) Clark, Colin (Tassa) Neumeyer, Brent (Jessica) Neumeyer and Stacy (Tony) Mooney; along with great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her first husband Hugh Baxter; second husband Jim Webb; son Rufus Baxter; and brother, J.V. McKinney. Mrs. Webb was a member of First Baptist Church in Waterloo. Visitation and funeral service were at Quernheim Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Neill officiating. Mrs. Webb was buried at Bethel Cemetery in Grover, Mo. Memorials may be made to the Oak Hill Activity Fund.

Carol Eames, 55, of Columbia, died April 20, 2009, at St. Anthony's Hospital in Mehlville, Mo. She was born Nov. 23, 1953, in Red Bud, the daughter of the late Lorenzo and Ardell (Mueller) Vogt. Mrs. Eames is survived by her husband, James Eames Sr.; a daughter, Tina Eames of Waterloo; a son, James (Michelle Smith) Eames Jr. of Columbia; grandchildren Brent DeLunas, Alexander DeLunas and Lilliana Eames; sisters Lorraine (Harvey) Hoffman of Waterloo, Delores (Vernon) Wienhoff of Millstadt, Arlene Vogt of Columbia and Erlene Gasser of Millstadt; and brothers Jay (Judy) Vogt and Melvin Vogt, both of Waterloo; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was employed with Chrysler Corp. in Fenton, Mo. Visitation was at Lawlor Funeral Home. Funeral was at St. Paul UCC in Columbia with Pastor Bob Goddard officiating. Mrs. Eames was buried at Evangelical St. Paul Cemetery in Columbia. Memorials may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Terry Jones, 57, of Modoc died Sunday, April 26, 2009 at his residence. He was born March 29,1952 at St. Charles, Mo. the son of the late Vernon (Matty) and Melba (Sis) Jones, nee Roth. He married Cindy Ries in 1977 in New Hanover. In addition to his wife, Mr. Jones is survived by sons, Michael (Bridget) Jones, Patrick (Amanda) Jones, George Jones, and Kevin (special friend Julie Chandler) Jones; a grandson, Carson Jones; and an uncle, Bill Jones; along with cousins, other relatives and friends. Mr. Jones was a correctional officer at Menard Correctional Center for 29 years. He was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church in Modoc and was a levee commissioner for the Prairie du Rocher/Modoc Levee District, a Democratic precinct committeeman for Randolph County, a member of the Pierre Menard Club, the Sparta Eagles, a past president of the Fort de Chartres Sportsman's Club, past union steward for AFSCME Local 1175 and past president of the Young Democrats. He was an avid Cardinals and Cubs fan and enjoyed playing Santa Claus at Christmas. He loved his family, Christmas, fishing and hunting. Visitation was at the Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home in Red Bud. A funeral mass was at St. Leo's Catholic Church with Fr. Clyde Grogan officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Loe Catholic Church or the Randolph County Democrat Scholarship Fund.

Adele Davis, nee Koch, 102, formerly of Monroe County, died April 26,2009 in Alhambra. She was born Aug. 7, 1906 at New Hanover, the daughter of the late Herman and Mary (Schrader) Koch. Survivors include sons Jerry Davis, Roger (Kathy) Davis, the Rev. Larry (Becky) Davis and the Rev. Glenn (Ann) Davis; a daughter, Joyce (Kenneth) Parke; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Davis; a daughter-in-law, Connie Davis and three brothers. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home in Waterloo. Funeral was at Zion UCC in St. Joe with Rev. Nancy Spier-Lee officiating. Mrs. Davis was burial at Zion Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hitz Memorial Home.

Darla Jean Lucher, 57, of East Carondelet died April 23, 2009 at her home. She was born Aug. 25, 1951 in St. Louis. Ms. Lucher is survived by her father, Henry Wiechert; a sister, Joyce Chandler; a niece, Connie (Todd) Gericke; and great-nieces Brianne Lietensdorfer, Lexi Gericke and Chandler Gericke; along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Pinkston. She enjoyed having good times with her friends. Visitation was at the Dashner-Leesman Funeral Home in Dupo where a funeral was conducted. Burial was at Valhalla Gardens of Memory. Memorials may be made to Family Hospice of Belleville.

Rosalind Blittersdorf, nee Mehrmann, 93, of Springfield, formerly of Columbia, died April 25, 2009 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. She was born Jan. 28, 1916 in Valmeyer, the daughter of the late Charles and Ida (Gerber) Mehrmann. She was married for 62 years to the late Kermit O. Blittersdorf, who died in 2000. Mrs. Blittersdorf is survived by a daughter, Judy (Larry) Harman; grandchildren Kelly (Tom) Woods, Sheila (James) Bartlett and Matthew (Michelle) Lorton; great-grandchildren Ann Womack, Lukas Lorton and Lane Lorton; nieces Claudette Gum and Jeanette Gentsch; and a nephew, William Smit. She was preceded in death by a brother, Lester Mehrmann; and a sister, Bernice Smith. Mrs. Blittersdorf was a retired cafeteria cook for the Columbia Unit 4 Schools. She was a graduate of Valmeyer High School and a member of St. Paul UCC where she was active in the Junior Women's League. She was also a member of the Robert Morris Chapter 98 Eastern Star where she served as a past worthy matron, past grand lecturer and past grand representative to Missouri and Massachusetts. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Chapter 29 Al SiHah, White Shrine, Roy Neighbors of America, the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Columbia Woman's Club. She was also a former Senior Girl Scout leader and was a past Sunday school teacher at St. John's UCC in Valmeyer. Visitation was at the Lawlor Funeral Home. A funeral was at St. Paul UCC with the Rev. Kristofer Avise-Rouse officiating. She was buried at the church’s cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. John's Hospice, Springfield or St.Paul UCC.

David "Blue Papa" Prange, 56, of Hecker, died April 30, 2009. He was born July 15, 1952, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of the late Elmer William and Imogene Flora (nee Braundmeier) Prange. Mr. Prange is survived by his children, Heather (Merl) Fleeman, Joseph Prange, Joni (Justin) Mills and Jason (Elizabeth) Prange; step-daughter, Mary (Kevin) Westmorland; grandchildren, Brandon, Cheyenne, Kansas, Sierra, Eric, Alicen and Kendlynn; and siblings Nancy (Orville) Mathews, Elmer Prange, Elizabeth Prange, Roy (Mary) Prange and Diana (Mark) Wittenbrink; along with nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a sister, Imogene Prange; and a brother Ernest Prange. Mr. Prange was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Visitation and funeral were at Quernheim Funeral Home. Mr. Prange was buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.

Domineck "Blacky" Giovanetti, 81, of Dupo died Saturday, April 25, 2009 at his home. He was born Nov. 8, 1927 at Bush, Ill. the son of the late Domineck and Nettie (nee Lavender) Giovanetti, Sr. Survivors include his wife Ruby Giovanetti, nee Overturf, whom he married Aug. 20, 1955 in Corinth, Miss.; three sons, Sam Giovanetti, Nick Giovanetti and Scott (Jan) Giovanetti; a daughter, Toni (Andy) Denis; a brother, Larry (Linda) Giovanetti; seven grandchildren, Kim (Dave) Parker, Beverly Giovanetti, Beth Giovanetti, J.D. Keating, Jessa Giovanetti, Jordon Giovanetti; a great-grandson, Ethan Robison; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Besides his parents, Mr. Giovanetti was preceded in death by brothers Roy Lavender and Bill Giovanetti and a sister, Ruby (Ray) Duffield. Mr. Giovanetti was a retired railroad engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad with 44 years of service. He was a member of Dupo American Legion Post 485 and served in the navy two years and the air force for four years during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his children and friends and was a loving family man. Visitation was at the Dashner - Leesman Funeral Home where an American Legion service was held. Memorials may be made to the Family Hospice of Belleville or American Legion Post 485.
