Metta Marie Bacher
Funeral services for Metta Marie Bacher,77, were held Thursday, Nov. 15, at 11 a.m. at Corman Memorial Home, Roseville. Interment was in Roseville Cemetery.
A former resident of Roseville and Elmwood, Mrs. Bacher died on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at 12:10 a.m. in Farmington Country Manor, Farmington. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
A daughter of William and Metta Gibb Lybarger, she was born Nov. 14, 1923, in Roseville. She married Harlan Jones. She later married Ralph Clark who died Dec. 17, 1981, and married Ralph W. Bacher on Sept. 14, 1989, who survives in Elmwood.
She also leaves: a son, James Jones of Peoria; two daughters, Julie Hoops of Champaign and Vickie Long, St. Petersburg, Fla.; a brother, William Lybarger, Showlow, Ariz.; and many stepchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Her parents preceded her death.
Mrs. Bacher worked at the Iowa Ordnance Plant, Burlington, Iowa, and at Caterpillar in Peoria, and owned and the Corner Inn Tavern, Elmwood, before her retirement.

William Reeves
William G. "Bill" Reeves, 63 of Galesburg, died at 12:59 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
Born April 9, 1938, in Galesburg to Howard F. and Hazel V. Kisor Reeves, he married Martha Haines on April 12, 1957, in Abingdon.
He later married Rosanne Adamczyk Stachowski on Sept. 2, 1990, in Cape Coral, Fla. She survives.
Also surviving are five daughters, Susan (Max) Whitcomb of Morton, Jean (Craig) Aulick of Olathe, Kan., Traci (Lane) Ericksen of West Jordan, Utah, Wendy Brown of Taylorsville, Utah, and Jamie (Adam) Hancock, of Eden Prairie, Minn.; one stepdaughter, Wendy (Shawn) Calhoun of Galesburg; two stepsons, Jeff Stachowski, of Dallas, Texas, and David Stachowski, of Denton, Texas; and 14 grandchildren.
He worked as a brakeman and conductor for CB&Q Railroad for 10 years and purchased the Olde Music Shoppe in 1967. He also owned BJ’s Music in Galesburg and Macomb, Billy G’s in Canton and a music store in Monmouth.
He played in the band "Midnite Ramblers" and in the late sixties, founded the Mid-State Opry, which was on the Roof Garden of Weinberg Arcade. He later played in the bands, "Cottonwood South," "Country Travelers," "Crossfire" and most recently the "Rural Route Four." He also appeared with numerous other bands in the area.
A Galesburg resident most of his life, he lived in Cape Coral, Fla., from 1986 until he returned to Galesburg in 1990.
He was a member of Alpha Lodge 155, AF&AM, and Warren County Saddle Club.
He was a member and high priest of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1977 E. Fremont., Galesburg, where services were held at 10 a.m. Monday.
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
Burial was in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to his church.

Alma "Maude" (Gilpin) Buttry
SALEM
Alma "Maude" (Gilpin) Buttry, 86. of Salem died at 5:40 p.m. Monday, April 30, 2001 at Salem Township Hospital.
She was born June 24, 1914 in Mill Shoals, the daughter of Frank and Mamie (Taylor) Files. She married Lloyd Douglas, and he died; she then married Charles Gilpin, and he died. She then married Everett Buttry, who also preceded her in death. She was retired from the State of Illinois and formerly owned restaurants in Carmi and Norris City.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Storey of Salem; four grandchildren, Jeanie Applegate of Salem, Danny Storey of Wapella, Sheila Hills and Tom Storey, both of Salem; nine great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Rose Newkirck of St. Louis and Madiline Hewlett of Carmi.
She was preceded in death by three husbands, a sister and brother.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 4 at North Maple Ridge Cemetery near Carmi. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem.

Frieda Boyer
MCLEANSBORO
Freida Boyer, 85, of rural McLeansboro died at 5:48 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2001 at White County Medical Center in Carmi.
She was born Nov. 19, 1915 in White County, the daughter of Frederick Myrle and Lula Irene (Allen) Allen. She married Bernard Boyer on Fed. 29, 1936, and he preceded her in death Sept. 20, 1995. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, L.B. and Terry Boyer of McLeansboro; three daughters and sons-in-law, Ila Sue and Hubert Ballard of McLeansboro, Laura Lou and Don Veatch of Texico, and Marilyn Marie and Bing Sancrant of Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Mike Ballard, Kevin Veatch, Mark Sancrant, Cynthia Organ, Sonya Davis and Julie Sancrant; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a grandson, Alan Ballard.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro, the Revs. Robert Sefried and Joe Atkinson officiating. Burial was at Enfield Cemetery.

Sarah L. Owen
GRAYVILLE
Sarah L. Owen, 89, of Grayville died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001 at Meadowood Nursing Home in that community.
She was born Dec. 12, 1911 in West Salem, the daughter of David and Grace (Porterfield) Berg. She was married to Floyd Owen, and he preceded her in death in 1976. Mrs. Owen was a homemaker, farm wife and a member of Mt. Pleasant Primitive Baptist Church near Burnt Prairie.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, David and Kim Owen of Carmi; a special grandson, Seth Owen of Carmi; one sister, Florence Doneghue of Carmi; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, Helen Berg, Hilda Wick, Mary Fairchild, Lillian Whorley and Eloise Balding.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Leo A. Aydt
DAHLGREN
Leo A. Aydt, 79, Dahlgren, died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2002 at Jeffersonian Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon, Ill.
He was born March 7, 1923 in Dahlgren, the son of Frank F. and Anastasia (Ewald) Aydt, and was married Oct. 2, 1946 to Martha Birke, who died in 1998. Mr. Aydt operated Aydt Mill and Aydt Elevators in Dahlgren for many years. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Dahlgren and the Knights of Columbus, and he had served in many of the church societies. He also served on the Dahlgren High School board of directors and the Dahlgren Village Board.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, James and Ellen Aydt of Paris, Ill.; a brother and sister-in-law, Herman and Grace Aydt of Nashville, Ill.; and three grandsons, Gregory, Brendan and Stefan Aydt, all of Paris, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers, John and Florian Aydt; and two sisters, Monica Aydt and Coletta Karcher.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church in Dahlgren, Msg. Joseph Lawler officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren, where visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Friday.

Jeanie Barbre
EVANSVILLE, IND.
Jeanie Barbre, 73, Evansville, Ind., formerly of Carmi, died at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind., following a long bout with cancer.
Mrs. Barbre was born Jan. 27, 1929 in Whitesville, Ky., the daughter of Thomas and Alma (Farley) Hendrix. She married Willard Nichols, and he preceded her in death in 1974. She then married Carl Ray "Bub" Barbre, and he preceded her in death, as well. She was a homemaker and a member of Vann Avenue Baptist Church in Evansville, Ind.
Surviving are a daughter, Carla Barbre. and her fiancee, David Frederick, both of Evansville, Ind.; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary T. "Dink" and Robin Nichols of Carmi; five grandchildren, Mark, Nicole and Jamie Mayhugh, and Sawyer and Haley Nichols; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Boorman of Longview, Texas and Kathleen Anzalone of Panama City, Fla.; and a brother, Edward Hendrix of Salem. She is also survived by Dale Robinson of Evansville.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, the Rev. Robert Nall officiating. Burial will be at North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Vann Avenue Baptist Church in Evansville or the American Cancer Society.

Alberta Wren Price
CARMI
Alberta Wren Price, 90, Carmi, died at 3:50 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002 at White County Medical Center in Carmi.
Mrs. Price was born July 28, 1911 in Mill Shoals Township, the daughter of Henry and Lucy (Fulford) Johnson. She married John Wren Oct. 3, 1936, and he preceded her in death Oct. 18, 1980. She married Charles Ralph Price on May 2, 1995, and he preceded her in death Sept. 20, 1999. She was a seamstress and worked at the Ainsbrooke sewing factory in Carmi.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Verla and Leroy Brown of Carmi; five grandchildren and their spouses, Bill and Sheryl Brown, Judy and Ron Coston, Chris and Sheri Brown, Johnny and Charlotte Brown, and Jim and Beverly Brown; numerous great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, the Rev. Nicholas Showalter officiating. Burial will be at Centerville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Russell Coulter Jr.
CARMI
Russell Coulter Jr., 76, Carmi, died at 12:40 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002 at White County Medical Center in Carmi.
Mr. Coulter was born March 2, 1926 in Bolivia, Edgar County, Ill., the son of Larkin Russell and Maude Mae (Walden) Coulter. He married Geneva Hogshead November 1947, and she preceded him in death in October 1988. He then married Ruth (Waln) Musgrave on March 12, 1992. Mr. Coulter was a retired accounting executive with Exxon Oil Co. He was a member of First Christian Church, Carmi Elks Lodge, American Legion Post 224 and VFW Post 3851.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth of Carmi; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Brian and Betsy Coulter of Newburgh, Ind., Frank and Jill Musgrave, John Musgrave, and Bill and Susan Musgrave, all of Carmi; five grandchildren, Hannah Coulter, Kathleen Ritcheson, and Lauren, Matthew and Meagan Musgrave; two great-grandchildren, Tyson Musgrave and Austin Ritcheson; and a brother, Richard Coulter of Long Beach, Calif.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Veta Canter, Mary Coulter and Ruby Lientz, and two brothers, Tony and Tom Coulter.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, with Robby King officiating. Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. at Cherry Point Cemetery in Chrisman.
