Forest Holder

MATTOON - Forest "Ralph" Holder, 34, of Mattoon, formerly of Sullivan, died at 6:32 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 24, 2000) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan, with the Rev. Dave Dolan officiating. Burial will be in the Funkhouser Cemetery, Funkhouser. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home.

He was born Jan. 6, 1966, in Murray, Utah, the son of James and Forrest Joy Holder.

He was a member of the New Life Tabernacle Church, Sullivan and had been the owner and operator of Polish Pros of Sullivan.

He married Stephany Ann Fields in 1999; she survives.

Also surviving are his adoptive father, Ralph Mixon of Mesa, Ariz.; three sons, Dillon Holder of Lincoln, Neb., and Jeffrey and Jessy Ledbetter, both at home; two daughters, Molly and Mallory Ledbetter, both at home; five sisters, Toni Riley of Apache Junction, Ariz., Teri Mundy of Sullivan, Carla Smith of Dickson, Tenn., and Gayla "Gemme" Thornton and Traci Lee Ritchie, both of Mesa, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Paul Mummel

WINDSOR - Paul Eugene Mummel, 64, of Windsor died at 7:00 a.m. Sunday (September 24, 2000), in St. John's Hospital Springfield.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home, Windsor, with Rev Richard Eident officiating.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in the Windsor Cemetery.

He was born June 21, 1936, in Moultrie Co., IL, the son of Harley and Dorothy Fulk Mummel.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Windsor, and employed by Schrock Cabinet Co. in Arthur.

He married Berniece Woods Nov. 25, 1961, in Charleston.

Surviving are his wife Berniece, sons, Paul Mummel, Jr. and wife Kristin of Windsor, Scoff Mummel of Windsor, and Troy Mummel of Effingham; grandchildren, Seth Mummel and Sarah Mummel; sister, Evelyn Rochat of Mattoon; half-brothers, Bill Mummel of Mattoon and Kevin Mummel of Neoga; half-sisters, Linda Elson of Windsor and Mary Fifer of Urbana; step-brother, Bob Stretch of Neoga.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ramona Ramsey.

Memorials may be made to the Windsor Christian Church.

Lula Peterson

CATLIN - Lula Peterson, 85, of Catlin, formerly of Mattoon, died at 8:35 p.m. Friday (Sept. 22, 2000) at the United Samaritan Medical Center in Danville.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Dodge Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Clark officiating. Visitation will be from noon until service time Thursday at the Schilling Funeral Home.

She was born Dec. 23, 1914, in Mattoon, the daughter of Nathaniel B. and T. Jessie Stewart Simpson.

She married Morris F. Peterson in 1934; he died in 1992.

Surviving are one son, Michael F. Peterson of Kansas City, Mo.; three daughters, Shirley Long of Decatur, Nancy Bates of Alton, Mo., and Judith Pearce of North Richland Hills, Texas; one sister, Jean Simpson of Canton, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, five sisters and one granddaughter.

Mrs. Peterson was a homemaker.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice.Sept. 25, 2000

Paul Mummel

WINDSOR ­ Paul Mummel, 64, of Windsor died at 7 a.m. Sunday (Sept. 24, 2000) at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Arrangements are incomplete at the Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor.

George Pearce

MACOMB ­ George I. Pearce, 86, of Macomb died at 3:23 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 23, 2000) at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home in Macomb with the Rev. Ron Green officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

He was born Nov. 8, 1913, in McDonough County, the son of Frank and Roxy McKee Pearce.

He married Betty E. Belshaw in 1935. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Richard L. Pearce of Monmouth; three daughters, Sally S. Cottle of Kansas, Georgia A. Beltz of Charleston and Roxilee Woods of Macomb; one brother, Don Pearce of Macomb; one sister, Norma Melvin of Blandinsville; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister and one granddaughter.

Mr. Pearce retired from the Illinois State Police in 1980 where he was in charge of maintenance.

Memorials may be made to the McDonough District Hospital Hospice Program.

Brandon Tucker

OAKLAND ­ Brandon P. Tucker, 14, of Oakland died at 8 a.m. Sunday (Sept. 24, 2000) at his residence.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Taber Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert E. Lee officiating. Burial will be in Embarras Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He was born May 21, 1986, in Paris, the son of Robert and Marsha Thompson Tucker.

Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Bill Hudson of Oakland; two brothers, Robert I. Tucker and Shannon M. Tucker, both of Paris; one sister, Natasha R. Tucker of Oakland; maternal grandfather, Vernon Thompson of Paris; fraternal step-grandparents, Leo and Pauline Beals of Effingham.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother and fraternal step-grandfather.

Brandon attended the Developmental Foundation Center (DDC) at Mattoon.

Memorials may be made to the Carle Hospital, Pediatrics-Neology Dept., 611 West Park Street, Urbana, Ill., 61801-2595.

Gertrude Bailey

LA MESA, Calif. - Gertrude Cole Bailey, of La Mesa, Calif., formerly of Charleston, died Monday (Sept. 18, 2000) at her residence.

Local arrangements will be conducted at a later date.

She was born April 24, 1928, in Charleston, the daughter of Robert and Olive Courtney Cole.

Surviving are two sons, Michael Bailey of Berkeley, Calif., and Steven Bailey of Brookville, Maine; seven brothers, Dick Cole of Decatur, William Cole of Manteno, James Cole of Alma, Harold and Kenneth Cole of Charleston, Fred Cole of Vandalia and Larry Cole of Mattoon; four sisters, Marjorie Cole, Virginia Buchanan and Gladys Nichols, all of Charleston, and Judith Cole of Naperville; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Ms. Bailey had worked at the Brown Shoe Company. She retired after working several years as a bookkeeper in LaMesa, Calif.

Clarence Klein

FINDLAY - Clarence A. "Buck" Klein, 91, of Findlay, died at 6:40 a.m. Friday (Sept. 22, 2000) at Sullivan Healthcare Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at the McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Burial will be in the Findlay Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

He was born July 6, 1909, in Effingham County, the son of George F. and Lillian F. Helpingspine Klein.

He married Mildred Leota Snuffin in 1935; she died in 1996.

Surviving are one son, George E. Klein of Oxford, Ala.; two daughters, Margaret Taylor of Modesta, Calif., and Jean Jordan of Monticello; one stepson, Escoe Denton of White Heath; one brother, Joe Klein of Allenville; three sisters, Lena Sparks, Dorothy Chappel and Rosetta Naab, all of Sullivan; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by eight brothers and five sisters.

Mr. Klein was retired from the C. and E.I. Railroad.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Bill Morecraft

Billy J. Morecraft, 72, of Gays, died Wednesday September 20, 2000 at 7:00 a.m.in the Provena Covenant Hospital in Urbana, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home, Windsor with Rev Richard Eident officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in the Windsor Cemetery with military rites.

He was born May 2, 1928 in Clarksville, IL the son of Roy Jasper and Mary Jane Fitzgerald Morecraft.

He was retired from Howell Asphalt in Mattoon. He was a member of Teamsters Local # 26 in Danville, the Mattoon Moose Lodge the Mattoon American Legion and served in the US Army during WW II and the Korean Conflict.

He married Mary Evelyn Black June 5, 1949 in Kentucky.

Surviving are his wife; children, Roy and Diane Morecraft of Kansas, IL, Janice and Rosco Gaddis of Robinson, IL, Rick and Carol Morecraft of Lerna and Billie and Rick Cook of Gays; brother Robert Morecraft of Marshall; sister Betty Beard of Colorado Springs, CO; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Charles, Eugene and Claude Jasper Morecraft and sisters Lucille Kirchner, Mary Morecraft and Lillian Lawyer.
