Ray Price

STRASBURG - Ray Price, 81, of Strasburg, died at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 24, 2001) at his residence.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Grace Lutheran Church, Strasburg, with Pastor Michael Mohr officiating. Burial will be in Grace Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. The Bisch & Son Funeral Home, Springfield, is in charge of the arrangements.

He was born Jan. 10, 1920, in Shelbyville, the son of James A. and Mabel I. Stretch Price. He married Betty Jane Waggoner in 1942; she died in 1943. He married Lois M. Kull in 1946; she survives.

Also surviving are one son, Ronald Price of Springfield; one daughter, Thakla Bowers of Owasso, Okla.; one brother, Ralph Price of Mt. Zion; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers and two grandchildren.

Mr. Price was employed by Sta-Rite Jenny Lou, Shelbyville, for 35 years. He then worked at Tube Loc, Mattoon, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Strasburg, the Grace Lutheran Church Cemetery Board, and was a life member of American Legion Post 289, Strasburg. He was a Corporal in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was awarded a Presidential Unit Citation.

Memorials may be made to the Braille Foundation or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Dyean Rickman

CHAMPAIGN - Dyean Rickman, 61, of Champaign, formerly of Charleston, died at 10:45 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 25, 2001) at Carle Hospital.

A graveside funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Kickapoo Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Boaz officiating. Burial will be in Kickapoo Cemetery. There will be no visitation. The Caudill-King Funeral Home, Charleston, is in charge of the arrangements.

She was born May 18, 1940, in Cash, Ark., the daughter of Dewey and Pearl Davidson Woods. She married Charles Rickman in 1977; he survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Sheila Wilkey Grigg of Clover, S.C.; one brother, Burl Woods of Imbler, Ore.; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Rickman was retired from the maintenance department at the University of Illinois. She was a member of the Champaign Church of God.

Marshall Simmons Jr.

MATTOON - Marshall E. "Gene" Simmons Jr., 58, of Mattoon, died at 1:58 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 25, 2001) at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Danville.

Arrangements are pending.

Christopher Bay

BETHANY - Christopher L. Bay, 19, of Bethany, died at 4:10 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 24, 2001) at his home.

A private family graveside service will be at Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek. There will be no visitation. McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Bethany, is in charge of the arrangements.

He was born Dec. 20, 1981, in Decatur, the son of Robert and Vickie S. Jackson Anzelc.

Surviving are his parents of Bethany; two brothers, Jim Yeager of Bement and Adam Yeager of Bethany; one stepbrother, Joe Anzelc of Germany; one stepsister, Avis Anzelc of Urbana; and his grandparents, Bernard and Ruth Jackson of Long Creek, Donna Bay of Union, Mo., and Ron Bay of Curryville, Mo.

Memorials may be made to the family in care of Scott State Bank, Bethany.

Hazel Bowen

MATTOON - Hazel Bowen, age 77, of Mattoon, passed away at 4:25 a.m. Thursday, October 25, 2001 at Douglas Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2001 at the First Christian Church with Rev. Robert Clark and Rev. Dr. Mark Prevo officiating. Interment will be in Janesville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home.

Hazel Bowen was born November 8, 1923 at Janesville, Illinois, a daughter of Marion and Ora Riley Grafton. She married Russell Bowen at the First Christian Church in Mattoon on December 21, 1949, he survives. Also surviving are her daughters, Elyn Walk and Jane Bowen of Mattoon; a brother, Ab Grafton of Mattoon, as well as four sisters, Jean Warfel and Greta Grafton of Mattoon, Jean Byrnes of Richardson, Texas and Yvonne Boyer of Mesquite, Texas. Hazel leaves her grandchildren, Bart Walk and his wife Belinda of Baldwin, Missouri, Aaron Walk of Mattoon, Andrea Walk of Charleston and Jackie Walk of Carbondale, Illinois. Her parents and one brother Charles Grafton preceded her in death.

Mrs. Bowen was a member and deaconess of the First Christian Church. She was a member and treasurer of the YES Sunday school class and formerly taught the fourth and fifth grade Sunday School Class and served as Sunday School Secretary for many years. Memorial contributions may be made to the Echo Children's Home, 3033 North Euclid Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63115-1698.

Cora Correll

NEOGA - Cora E. Correll, 85, of rural Neoga, Illinois, died at 4:00 A.M., Thursday, October 25, 2001, at her residence.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 28, 2001, at Partlow Cemetery, Armstrong, Ill., with the Reverend Ron Lake of Neoga, officiating. Burial will be in Partlow Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Saturday, October 27, 2001, at the Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home, Neoga.

Cora was born November 29, 1915, in Rankin, Illinois, the daughter of Gross and Christine (Martin) Thompson. She married Charles C. Correll in November, 1935, in Hoopeston, Illinois. He died September 13, 1983.

Surviving are one grandson, Steve Kirk and wife Teri of Westerville, Ohio; one granddaughter, Mrs. Duane (Tina) Frailey, rural Neoga; one son-in-law, C. Bernie Kirk of rural Neoga; one sister, Mrs. Jayne Colwell of rural Neoga; and 5 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Christy Kirk on February 5, 1998.

Mrs. Correll was a former employee of Brown Shoe Company, Sullivan, Ill., and a retired seamstress at Kern Mfg. Company, Neoga.

Memorials may be made to Lincolnland Hospice, 5837 Park Drive, Mattoon, IL 61938 or to the donor's choice.

The Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home, Neoga, is in charge of the arrangements.

Kenneth Crist

LAS VEGAS - Kenneth R. Crist, 50, of Las Vegas, formerly of Arcola, died Sunday (Oct. 21, 2001) in Las Vegas.

The funeral will be in Las Vegas on Sunday. A local memorial service will be 1 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Edwards Funeral Home, Arcola.

He was born in 1951 in Tuscola, the son of Raymond E. and Dorothy J. Grant Crist. He married Casey Jane Granger in 1985; she survives.

Also surviving are his mother of Arcola; one son, Korey Crist of Salem; and three brothers, Konnie Crist of Tuscola, and Ramie Crist and Ervin "Stormy" Crist, both of Arcola.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Mr. Crist was self-employed in Las Vegas.

Memorials may be made to the family c/o Edwards Funeral Home, 221 E. Main St., Arcola.

Dyean Rickman

CHAMPAIGN - Dyean Rickman, 61, of Champaign, formerly of Charleston, died Thursday (Oct. 25, 2001) at Carle Hospital, Urbana.

Arrangements are incomplete at Caudill-King Funeral Home, Charleston.

Mary Ellen Seaman

Mary Ellen (Rickard) Seaman, age 77, of Mattoon, passed away at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2001, at her home.

Funeral services celebrating her life will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Schilling Funeral Home with the Reverend Jim Dona officiating. Burial will follow in the Dodge Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from Noon until service time on Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.

Mary was born October 18, 1924, in Madisonville, Kentucky, a daughter of Leland and Annie Case Rickard. She married Ken R. Seaman on May 8, 1943, in Evansville, Indiana.

She leaves her husband, Ken R. Seaman of Mattoon; two daughters, Gail Lynn Little and husband Jerry and Jeanne Basham and husband Bill, all of Mattoon; one brother, Aubrey Rickard of Kentucky; one sister, Opal Smith of Kentucky; five grandchildren, David Basham and wife Julie of Mattoon, Julie Grove and husband Rod of Windsor, Lisa Limes and husband Philip of Charleston, Sara Ferris and husband Toby, Andrew Little and wife Billie, all of Mattoon; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Seaman was formerly employed as a secretary/bookkeeper with Fred Smith Shoes in Mattoon. She later retired from the Coles County Mental Health Clinic and following her retirement, she worked part-time at the Mattoon City Clerk's office. She was a member of the Broadway Christian Church and the Mattoon Eagles Auxiliary. Mary loved the outdoors and was an avid golfer, gardener and quilter.

Memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of Lincolnland or Alzheimer's Association.

Jeanette Smith

COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. - Jeanette E. Smith, 71, of Columbia City, Ind., formerly of Charleston, died at 7 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 24, 2001) at the Hospice Home of Northeast Indiana.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, Columbia City, Ind., with Pastor Mark Goeglein officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove (Compton) Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

She was born Oct. 16, 1930, in Marshall, the daughter of Ernest and Amy Trump English. She married Hubert Smith in 1948; he survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Philip Smith of West Frankfort and Daniel Smith of Columbia City, Ind.; three daughters, Susan Crane of Danville, Sheryl Kaminski of Columbia City, Ind., and Becky Bohnstedt of Syracuse, Ind.; one sister, Edith Horath of Marine; and 12 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, one sister and one daughter.

Mrs. Smith was a former member of the East Harrison Street Church of God, Charleston, and was currently a member of Oak Grove Church of God, Columbia City, Ind. She worked for Consumer Contact Services.

Memorials may be made to Oak Grove Church of God, Columbia City, Ind.; East Harrison Street Church of God, Charleston; Bear Lake Church of God Camp; Hospice of Northeast Indiana; or to the American Cancer Society.

Marie Snodgrass

TOLEDO - Marie A. Snodgrass, 90, of Toledo, died at 2:55 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 23, 2001) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Barkley Funeral Home, Toledo. Burial will be in Janesville Cemetery, Janesville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.

She was born Feb. 26, 1911, in Charleston, the daughter of Elmer and Grace Myers Schnorf. She married H. Raymond Snodgrass in 1933; he survives.

Also surviving are one sister, Freda Saikley of Pasadena, Texas.

Mrs. Snodgrass was retired from Brown Shoe Company and a member of the Toledo Christian Church.
