Harold Snodgrass

TOLEDO - Harold E. "Gene" Snodgrass, 73, of Toledo, died at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 30, 2001) at his residence.

Arrangements are incomplete at the Barkley Funeral Home, Toledo.

Ernie Biggs

CHARLESTON - Ernie R. Biggs, 96, of Charleston, died at 11:40 a.m. Thursday (Nov. 29, 2001) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.

A graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Hurricane Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Boaz officiating. Visitation will be noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Caudill-King Funeral Home.

He was born March 26, 1905, in Coles County, the son of William and Minnie Henry Biggs. He married Lodema Baldwin in 1928; she died in 1988.

Survivors include two sisters, Ruth Hickenbottom of Charleston and Betty Lawyer of Glen Carbon; seven grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Biggs was also preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and one great-grandchild.

Josephine Ferguson

ARTHUR - Josephine Ferguson, 79, of Arthur, died at 12:55 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 29, 2001) at Carle Hospital, Urbana.

Arrangements are incomplete at the Shrader Funeral Home, Arthur.

Royal Garrison

EDWARDSVILLE - Royal E. Garrison, 64, formerly of Jerseyville, died at 10:59 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001 in Maryville.

He was born Dec. 18, 1936, to Roy and Bernice (Braymen) Garrison. He married the former Hazel Marie Gound April 4, 1954; she died May 23, 1996. He married Nancy (Woll) Rolfes in 1998; she survives.

Other survivors include eight children, John Garrison of McClusky, Scott Garrison, Lori Young and Denise Douglass, all of Jerseyville, Debbie Phillips of Kane, Joan Cope of Neoga, Kathy Dunham of Fieldon and Nicole Rolfes of Worden; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.

He was a very active part of his family. He worked at McDonnell Douglas Corp. in St. Louis before joining Kerasotes Theatres, in Jerseyville. He became general manager of the Jerseyville Theater before becoming district manager of the Kerasotes chain. Due to a decline in his health he became general manager of the Eastgate Cinema in East Alton, which included the Mattoon area cinemas. He retired a few years ago.

Memorial services and visitation were conducted at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.

Memorials may be given to his family in care of the funeral home or to the Mid America Transplant Team, in recognition for their appreciation for Royal Heart Transplant that gave his family eight extra years with him.

Wayne Hunter

CHARLESTON - Wayne Hunter, 60, of rural Oakland, died Wednesday (Nov. 28, 2001) at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center, Indianapolis.

Arrangements are incomplete at Adams Funeral Chapel.

Delmar Terrell

WESTFIELD - Delmar G. Terrell, 82, of Westfield, died at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 28, 2001) at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, Ind.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Markwell and Son Funeral Home, Casey, with the Rev. Bill Rennels and the Rev. Eddie Dean Hammon officiating. Burial will be in Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be performed by Westfield Masonic Lodge 1046 at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

He was born April 28, 1919, the son of Joseph Glen and Lula Jane Armour Terrell. He married Elnora Reed in 1937; she died in 1984.

Survivors include one son, Doyle Terrell of Westfield; one daughter, Joann Welch of Mattoon; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Mr. Terrell was a retired farmer. He was a former Westfield school board member, a former Parker Township supervisor, a Westfield Village Board member for 16 years and a member of Westfield Masonic Lodge 1046.

Memorials may be made to the Westfield Homecoming Committee Fund c/o the funeral home.

Harold Angel

ARTHUR - Harold Hover Angel, 88, of Arthur died at 1:58 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 27, 2001) at the Convalescent Care Center, Mattoon.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Shrader Funeral Home, Arthur, with the Rev. Jim Elder officiating. Burial will be in Arthur Cemetery with military rites by the Arthur VFW and American Legion. No visitation is planned.

He was born Nov. 27, 1913, in Cadwell, the son of Eric and Edith Roberts Angel. He married Virginia Murphy in 1940; she died in 1977.

Survivors include one son, David Angel of Vandalia.

He was also preceded in death by one sister.

Mr. Angel owned and operated Angel's Cafe in Arthur for many years. He was a member of the Arthur United Methodist Church and the Arthur American Legion Post. He was a veteran of World War II.

Mackenzie Coff

LOVINGTON - Mackenzie Grace Coff, infant, died at 9:26 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 26, 2001) at St. John's Hospital, Springfield.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Lovington. Burial will be in Keller Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

She was born Nov. 26, 2001, in Springfield, the daughter of Michael Darren and Terri Anne Hayes Coff.

Survivors include her parents of Lovington; grandparents, Kathleen Hayes and Jack of Hammond, Ind., and Shirley Coff of Hammond, Ind.; one brother, Brandon Coff of Lovington; one sister, Amber Coff of Lovington; one stepbrother, Michael Coff of Gary, Ind.; and three stepsisters, Jennifer Cloud, and Shauna and Michelle Coff, all of Gary, Ind.

She was preceded in death by one grandparent.

Memorials may be made to donor's choice.

Jimmy Bishop Jr.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -Jimmy Eugene Bishop Jr., 6 weeks old, of Terre Haute, Ind., died at 2:45 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 24, 2001) at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, Ind.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at the Alexander-Kean Funeral Home, Sullivan, with Pastor Ray Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Johnson Cemetery in Graysville, Ind. Visitation will be 11 a.m. today until service time at the funeral home.

He was born Oct. 13, 2001, in Sullivan, Ind., the son of Jimmy Eugene and Michelle Dawn Horton Bishop.

Survivors include his parents of Terre Haute, Ind.; four brothers, Tyler Bishop, Benjerman Horton, Mitcheal Horton, all at home, and Harold Newton of Paris; six sisters, Autumn Bishop, Stacie Horton, Katlynn Stuckey, and Jennifer, Ashlie and Elizabeth Pearcy, all at home; grandparents, Dianna Horton of Ellettsville, Ind., Bobbi Joe "Neal" Phipps of Charleston, and Larry and Emily Bishop Sr. of Toledo; great-grandparents, William and Dianna Monk of Graysville, Ind., Dennis and Sharon Harmon of Farmersburg, Ind., William Horton of Carlisle, Ind., and Faye Bishop of Paris; great-great-grandparent, Ida Bell Vaughn of Prairie Creek, Ind.

He was preceded in death by one brother, one grandparent, and four great-grandparents.

Howard Chumbley

CHARLESTON - Howard Chumbley, 70, of Charleston, formerly of Arcola, died at 11:10 a.m. Monday (Nov. 26, 2001) at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Shrader Funeral Home, Arcola, with the Rev. Jess Adams officiating. Burial will be in Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He was born Dec. 20, 1930, in Arcola, the son of Charles and Ida Florence Hoback Chumbley. He married Suzanna Davidson in 1948; she died in 1985.

Survivors include two sons, Dale Chumbley of Galton and Donald Chumbley of Lake City; two daughters, Patricia Bell of Niceville, Fla., and Gayle Lynn Combs of Arcola; one brother, Herman Chumbley of Arcola; two sisters, Mildred Alexander of Arcola and Marjorie Baker of Carmi; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters and one grandchild.

Mr. Chumbley worked for Smith Brothers Trucking in Arcola, owned and operated Chumbley Trucking until 1975, and then drove for Lovelace Trucking. He was a member of the Teamsters Local of Terre Haute, Ind.
