Margaret Matthews

Services for Mrs. Margaret Matthews, 73, of Murphysboro, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999 at the Equality Social Brethren Church.
The Rev. Bill Jones will officiate.
Mrs. Matthews died Tuesday, July 27, 1999 at her residence.
Donations may be made to the Equality Social Brethren Church or the Murphysboro United Methodist Church.
Vickery Funeral Chapel of Equality is in charge of the arrangements.

Everett Burnett Brantley

Everett Burnett Brantley, 77, died at his home, 1419 S. Washington St., Harrisburg, at 10:45 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, 1999.
He was born Oct. 5, 1922, in Harrisburg to the late Ranzy and Ethel (Durfee) Brantley.
Mr. Brantley retired from Will Scarlett Coal Mine and was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Harrisburg Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rites, United Mine Workers of America, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign wars.
Surviving are his wife, Imogene (Lane) Brantley; a son and daughter-in-law, Leonard and Janice Brantley of Harrisburg; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Darrell Cavender and Matilda and Jack Grisham, all of Harrisburg; and six grandchildren, Todd Cavender, Angela Brantley, Kristy Beers, Amy Buchanan, Diana Hadley and Kit Brantley; and a sister, Lela Hurd of Florida.
He was preceded in death by one son, Arthur Brantley, and a brother, Orval Brantley.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg, where friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Masonic rites will be at 6 p.m.
The Rev. James Guynn will officiate. Burial will be in Pierson Hill Cemetery.

Delmond W. Weir

Delmond W. Weir, 68, of Galatia, died at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999 at Harrisburg Medical Center.
He was born July 21, 1931 in the Hamburg community to the late Cressy and Arda Mae (Tucker) Weir.
Mr. Weir was an engineer at McDonald-Douglas as an Aircraft Designer in St. Louis and a World War II Army veteran. He was also a former industrial arts teacher in local schools.
He was a graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and a member of Long Branch Baptist Church. Survivors include an aunt, Madge Tate and a cousin, Donna Russell, both of Galatia.
The body has been cremated. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Durham Cemetery in Hamburg. Dr. James Baldwin will officiate.
There will be no visitation at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Durham Cemetery.

Thelma Lorene Gass

Mrs. Thelma Lorene Gass, 85, of Eldorado, died at 1:52 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999 at the home of her daughter, Mary Beth Fetcho in Eldorado.
She was born July 2, 1914, in Eldorado to the late Thomas Alvin and Mary Alice (Nelson) Neal.
Mrs. Gass was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Franklin Gass in 1981.
She was retired as a dietary worker from the A.L. Bowen Children's Center in Harrisburg.
She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Eldorado.
Surviving are her daughter, Mary Beth Fetcho of Eldorado; a son, Earl Eugene and his wife, Gwendolyn Gass of Lake Station, Ind.; a brother, John William and wife, Betty Neal; a sister, Mary Jean and her husband, Millard Rice, all of Eldorado; five grandchildren, Randy Lee Fetcho of Los Angeles, Calif., Jeff and wife, Lisa Fetcho, of Eldorado, David and wife, Jennifer Gass of Alexandria, Va.; Ron and wife, Becky Gass of Lake Station, Debbie and her husband, Dave Draper of Peru; and great-grandchildren, Justin and Jara Fetcho of Eldorado, Amberjune Airel Crisma and Ronnie Gass of Lake Station, Michael Gass of Alexandria, and Chance Draper of Peru; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
She was also preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Ella Rose Neal, Helen Louise Genet, Ruby Fern Tapley, Raymond Alvin and Thomas James Neal.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999 at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado, where friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Bryan Morrow will officiate and burial will be in Wolf Creek Cemetery at Eldorado.

Madeline Cotter Koelling

Mrs. Madeline Cotter Koelling, 79, of Anna, died at 1:25 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, 1999 at the Union County Hospital in Anna.
She was born Oct. 1, 1920, at Galatia daughter of the late William Oscar and Mary Melvina (Flannigan) Cotter.
On May 18, 1946, she married Adolph Koelling at Anna. He preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 1996.
Mrs. Koelling is survived by two daughters, Joan Dallas of Jonesboro, Jean and her husband, Robert Wise of Marion; a sister-in-law, Mabel Cotter of Galatia; six grandchildren, Jill and Paul Wise, Kelly, Bryan, Patrick and Joel Dallas; a great-granddaughter, Katelynn Wise; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son-in-law, Ron Dallas, a granddaughter, Kerry Jean Dallas; two sisters, Ruth Williams and Ruby Melvina Cotter; and two brothers, Lloyd Cotter and a brother, in infancy.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Anna, a member of the Ladies Guild of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Veterans of Foreign War Ladies Auxiliary of Carroll P. Foster Post 3455, and was retired from Florsheim Shoe Co., in Anna.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999 at the Lutz & Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna, where friends may call after 5 p.m. Tuesday. Pastor Paul Weber will officiate.
Interment will be in the Anna Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Anna.

Gary Morse

Services for Gary Morse, 53, of Stonefort, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999 at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills.
Visitation will be after 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday.
Burial will be in Reids Chapel Cemetery near Stonefort.
Mr. Morse died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999 at his residence.

Billy W. Tucker

Services for Billy W. Tucker, 86, of Harrisburg, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999 at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown, where friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Burial will be in Westwood Cemetery at Shawneetown.
Mr. Tucker died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999 at the Carrier Mills Nursing Home.

Flossie M. Acord

Services for Mrs. Flossie M. Acord, 73, of New Haven, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999 at Cox and Son Funeral Home Chapel in New Haven, where friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
The Rev. Tommy Flewellen will officiate and burial will be in Union Ridge Cemetery in New Haven.
Mrs. Acord, wife of Clyde Acord, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999 at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.

Crystal (Dietz) Richmond

Services for Mrs. Crystal (Dietz) Richmond, 32, of Fairbury, formerly of Ridgway, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ridgway.
Fr. Mark Stec will officiate and burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery at Equality.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Cox and Son Funeral Home in Ridgway, where a prayer service will be at 7 p.m.
Mrs. Richmond, wife of Thomas Richmond, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999 as a result of an automobile accident.

Myrtle E. Carsten

Myrtle E. Carsten, 78, of Dale died 6:35 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at her home.
She was born Nov. 22, 1921, in Macedonia to the late Oscar and Martha (Summers) Hutchcraft.
She was a homemaker and a member of First General Baptist Church in McLeansboro.
She married James E. Carsten April 27, 1962, at Eatontown, N.J. He survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Nancy Pietz and husband, Fido of Clovis, Calif., Joan Johnson and husband Bobby, of Fresno, Calif., Sandra Allen of Benton, and Brenda Biggerstaff and husband Dale of McLeansboro; two sons, Lindell Launius and wife Margaret of Herrin and Dennis Allen of Downers Grove; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Jean Stoll of West Frankfort, Lillie Bennet of Louisiana and Letha Sanford of Forest Park.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services are 3 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2000, at the First General Baptist Church in McLeansboro.
Rev. Ken Cook will officiate.
Visitation is today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
Burial will be at Hickory Hill Cemetery near Broughton.
