Agatha Marie Krantz Knapp
FRANKFORT -- Agatha Marie Krantz Knapp, 66, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago, Ill.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Lupton Chapel, 7233 Delmar Boulevard, in St. Louis, Mo. 63130. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Lupton Chapel.
Ms. Knapp was a retired registered nurse.
She was born on March 7, 1935 in Chester to the late Harry and Elizabeth (Eggemeyer) Krantz.
Her late husband was Audenried Whittemore Knapp. Survivors include her children, Audenried W. Knapp, Jr. and wife Kathy of Kankakee, Elizabeth Nosaka and husband Takumi of Plainfield; three grandchildren, Jennifer, Emily, and Margaret Nosaka; and one sister, Darlene Krantz Hull.

Edna Rosemond
CARBONDALE -- Edna Steele Rosemond, 83, died at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Jackson Funeral Home in Carbondale, with Elder Raymond A. Coleman of Burlington, Ohio, officating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Lenore Foster Brooks
CARBONDALE -- Lenore Foster Brooks, 86, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, at her home.
She was born March 14, 1915, in Yakima, Wash. to Charles R. and Medora Dewey Foster. She graduated from Washington State University in Journalism and married Melvin S. Brooks on Sept. 15, 1936.
Lenore devoted her life to family, friends and community. She was an active member of the Unitarian Fellowship and served as its representative to Church Women United. She helped establish, served on the board and volunteered many hours to the Church Women United's Thrift Shop and numerous other community service activities. She was also a member of the SIU Women's Club.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin Brooks; her four children and their spouses, Jan S. Brooks and Debbie Durr of Chicago, Sylvia and Larry Drake of Carbondale, Benieta and Richard Powell of Santa Fe; and Dale R. and Lisa Brooks of Fairfield, Iowa; four grandchildren, George Brooks, Carl Brooks, Laura Powell and Ricky Powell; two step-grandchildren, David and Laura Drake; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers and a sister, Lee Foster of Hood River, Ore., Guy Foster of Bellingham, Wash. and Alice Williams of Walla Walla, Wash.; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Unitarian Fellowship in Carbondale.
Memorials may be made to the Church Women United's Thrift Shop, Carbondale Women's Center, and Hospice of Southern Illinois. Meredith Funeral Home will accept all memorials.

Edgar Henry 'Ed' William Eigenrauch
MARION -- Edgar Henry William Eigenrauch, age 83, of Marion passed away at 5:20 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, in the Park Avenue Health Care Center in Herrin.
He was born in Marion, April 13, 1918, the son of Edward F. and Mathilda (Sander) Eigenrauch.
Edgar was married to Alice M. Loyd on Feb. 28, 1945, in Marion and together sharing over fifty three years of marriage. She passed away Dec. 15, 1998.
Ed was a loving husband and caregiver of his wife Alice, a loving and devoted father, grandfather and brother and friend to all he knew. He was a member of Third Baptist Church of Marion and a coal miner for many years, working for the Peabody-Forsyth Mine in Energy. His hobbies included fine carpentry and cabinet building and gardening, sharing what he grew with family and friends.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven D. and Jan Eigenrauch of Marion and James E. and Glenda Eigenrauch of Mayfield, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Christina "Crissy" Trovillion and husband, Brad of Goreville, Lori Eigenrauch of Marion, Rodney Eigenrauch and wife, Suzanne of Herrin, Kimberly Jackson and husband, Steve of Murray, Ky., Jason Eigenrauch, Chris Eigenrauch and wife, Melissa, Derek Eigenrauch, Stephanie Williamson and husband, Greg, all of Mayfield, Ky.; and two sisters, Esther E. Germann and Erna Jennings both of Marion.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Alice M. Eigenrauch, on Dec. 15, 1998, and by two brothers, Orville and Ervin Eigenrauch.
The funeral service for Edgar H. "Ed" Eigenrauch will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, in the Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home in Marion, with the Rev. Ron Cremeens officiating. The committal service and interment will follow in East Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Energy.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held from noon until time of the service at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home in Marion.
For those who wish expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of contributions to the Third Baptist Church Building Fund or the American Heart Association. Contributions may be mailed in care of the Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, P.O. Box 370, Marion, IL 62959. Contribution envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

John DeVardo
CARBONDALE -- John DeVardo, 45, of Carbondale formerly of Marion, passed away at 8:27 p.m., Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at the Meredith-Blue Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Brinkman and the Rev. Tom Richards officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Murdale Garden of Memories, in Carbondale. Memorials may be made to the American Bladesmith Society or SIU Alumni Association, envelopes are available at the funeral home.
John was born March 16, 1956, in Carbondale, to Tom and Elsie (Richards) DeVardo.
Survivors include his parents, Tom and Elsie DeVardo of Marion; brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Lorie DeVardo of Marion; nephews, Joshua and Benjamin; uncles and aunts, Rev. Tom and Betty Richards, Homer and Ruth Ann Richards, Beaulah and Charles Ferguson, Shirley and Marvin Oetjen, Herb Fenton, John and Nadine Battioli and Charles and Ethel Ross; several cousins and friends.
John was a member of Warder Street Baptist Church in Marion. He worked as a commercial painter. He graduated from Southern Illinois University with an Administration of Justice Degree. He was a member of the American Bladesmith Society. John was well known in the area for his hobby, making knives of Damascus Steel.

Glenna Afton Henard
TUNNEL HILL -- Glenna Afton Henard, 95, died at 3:42 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at her home. At her time of passing, she was surrounded by her loving family, friends and her pastor, the Rev. Jeffrey Bealmear.
She was born March 12, 1906, near Buncombe, to Jeff and Eva (nee Walker) Walker.
On May 12, 1923 she was united in marriage to Ernest Jackson Henard at the Vienna First United Methodist Church parsonage. Together they established their home and farm in the Pleasant Grove community. Their seven children were all born on the family farm. In 1950, the family sold their farm and sawmill operation. Mr. Henard worked as a pipefitter and the family traveled extensively from 1950-1958. They then settled near the West Vienna community in Johnson County.
Afton is survived by six children, Ernestine and Ben Schweider of Waukegan, Mary Lou and Caleb Brinkley of Chrisman, Tommy and Mary Lee Henard of Newbern, Tenn., John and Pat Henard of Granbury, Texas, Dixie and Larry Hughes of Goreville, and Shirley and Doyle Coonce of Tunnel Hill; a son-in-law, Harold Brinkley of Olney; 29 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; a nephew, Alan Metheny; and a niece, Vicki Grove.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Eva Walker, her husband, Ernest Jackson Henard on Jan. 1, 1970, a daughter, Glenda Lorraine Brinkley, who passed away last year at the age of 76, a brother, Thomas Edward Walker, who passed away in 1992, a grandson, Steven Michael Brinkley, a great-grandson, Mark Albert Jennings and a niece, Cheryl Jeffords.
She attended the Johnston City High School. She was a homemaker. Afton had also worked in a nursing home at Valley Park, Mo., for several years. Most recently, she had worked at Late Bloomer's Restaurant in Goreville. She enjoyed visiting with the customers and was responsible for "wrapping the silverware."
She was a 26 year member of the Goreville United Methodist Church. She will be fondly remembered by her family and many friends as a devoted and amazing mother and grandmother.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at the Goreville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jeffrey Bealmear officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, near Buncombe. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Southern Illinois, 1110 N. Johnson, Marion, Ill., 62959-1665 or to Pleasant Grove Cemetery Fund, c/o Mrs. Bonita Casey, 6050 State Route 146 West, Buncombe, Ill., 62912.
Baily Funeral Home in Vienna is in charge of arrangements.

Mable M. Dalton
TUNNEL HILL -- Mable M. Dalton, 89, died at 1:50 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at the home of her daughter near Vienna.
Mable was born on Aug. 5, 1912, in the Reynoldsburg Community in Johnson County. She was the daughter of Walter Sr. and Fannie (Newbold) Cook.
Mable was united in marriage to Oakley Lee Dalton, Sr. on July 19, 1930. He preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 1977.
Survivors include two sons, Oakley Lee "Bud" Dalton, Jr. and his wife Shirley of Tunnel Hill and James Issac Dalton and his wife Lela of Pittsburg; two daughters, Brenda Mullins and her husband Terry of Vienna and Shirley McDonald of Rosiclare; a special daughter-in-law, Barbara Dalton-Hollobaugh of Vienna; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Evetts of Tunnel Hill, Ina Whitley of Delavan and Jo Steiger of Vienna and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, Donald Wayne "Donnie" Dalton and Jackie Ray Dalton and two daughters, Margaret Ann Dalton and Ruby Pearl Dalton.

Anna Kohler
JONESBORO -- Anna Kohler, daughter of William A. and Lura (Dillow) King, was born in Dongola on Oct. 11, 1912, and passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at the Robings Manor Nursing Home in Brighton at the age of 89.
Mrs. Kohler was united in marriage to Doil Kohler in Union County on June 30, 1930. She was preceded in death by Mr. Kohler on Aug. 7, 1995, and also by three sons, four brothers and four sisters.
Mrs. Kohler was a former resident of Rosewood Heights before her retirement. She was a member of Anna Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Debbie and husband, Lee Grantham, of Aiken, S.C., Tanja Kohler of Apache Junction, Ariz., Doil Kohler of Aiken, S.C.; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Carroll Slusher of Roxana; one sister, Noma Haltenen of St. Louis, Mo.; two daughters-in-law, Peggy Kohler of Wood River and Joy Ann Kohler of Bethalto; and brother-in-law and spouse, Ken and Dorothy Kohler of Anna.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, in the chapel of Hileman and Parr Funeral Services, with the Rev. Scott Harner officiating. Interment will be in Jonesboro Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until the funeral hour Thursday at the funeral home.

Rosalee Garrigan
PITTSBURG -- Rosalee Garrigan, 68, of Pittsburg died at 6:13 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, in Western Baptist Hospital of Paducah.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Murman and Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City, with the Rev. Matt Crain officiating. Burial will be in Harrison Cemetery in Christopher. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Garrigan had been a receptionist in Phoenix, Ariz.
She was a Baptist.
She was born June 9, 1933, in Christopher to Jack and Emelian (Cresson) Bogaerts.
She married Ronald Garrigan on Dec. 15, 1972, in Phoenix. He survives.
Other survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Mary Lynn Horbett of Virginia and Marlena Kay and Gary Cage of Phoenix; one son and daughter-in-law, Steven Wayne and Carrie Latta of Phoenix; one aunt, Pauline Braggs of Johnston City; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Her parents preceded her in death.

Donald Paul Esselman
CHESTER -- Donald Paul Esselman, 68, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, in Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Monsignor Dennis Schaefer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 7:30 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday at Schroeder-McClure Funeral Chapel.
Memorials may be made to Masses or St. Mary's School.
Mr. Esselman had worked in maintenance at Sparta Printing.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Knights of Columbus.
He was born March 27, 1933, in McBride, Mo., to Patrick Lewis and Lillian (Anderson) Esselman.
He married Lena Moranville on July 2, 1955 in Claryville, Mo. She survives.
Other survivors include one son, Kevin Esselman of Perryville; three daughters, Trina Esselman Milam of Chester, Kim Smith of Sparta and Renee Laurent of Fults; one brother, Chalmer "Jim" Esselman of Owensville, Mo.; and five grandchildren.
His parents, five brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
