Pauline R. Hatcher, 84, of Alton, died Dec. 30, 1999, in Saint Anthony's Health Center in Alton. Her husband, Charles, preceded her in death. Surviving are a son, Paul of Edwardsville; and daughters, Sue Klinke and Debra Odehnal, both of Godfrey. Services were in Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Alton. Memorials may be given to Southern Illinois Hospice.

Haubs 06/13/00
Lavada M. Haubs, 88, of Godfrey, died June 13, 2000, in Saint Anthony's Health Center in Alton. Her husband, Peter, preceded her in death. Surviving are a daughter, Lois Spencer of Godfrey; and sisters, Mary Shaw of Jerseyville, and Dorothy Ambrose of Martinez, Ga. Services were through Gent Funeral Home in Alton.

Hauck 06/05/00
Ronald E. Hauck, 64, of Godfrey, died June 5, 2000, in Saint Anthony's Health Center in Alton. He married Jean Thomeczek, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Ronald of Alton; daughters, Kathy Hauck of Manhatten Beach, Ca., Karen Villalpando of LaCanada, Ca., Karol Gray of Fort Lewis, Wa., and Kristi Windish of Naperville; and a brother, Larry of Godfrey. He was president of Thomeczek Oil Co., and a past president of the Alton-Godfrey Rotary Club. Services were through Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Godfrey. Memorials may be given to Marquette Catholic High School and St. Ambrose Catholic Church.

Haun 11/17/99
Eric Lynn Haun's dedication to serving youth had a positive affect on the lives of many young people. He grew up in Evangelical United Church of Christ, where he was a youth adviser, coached boys and girls softball, coached volleyball, helped form the Alton Little Red Birds wrestling club, and served in many capacities with the Illinois Boots and Saddle Club. He sang, played the piano, and was an auctioneer. His job was that of a pipefitter until a heart attack forced him to retire early. He was recovering from a stroke, and in a wheelchair recently, when he helped recognize many athletes in his church. Haun, 45, of Bethalto, died Nov. 17, 1999, in his home. He married Marcia Bracht, who survives. Also surviving are sons Tony and Travis at home; and sisters, Bonne Wilhelm of Godfrey, and Teresa Haun of Alton. Services were through Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Alton. A trust fund for his sons was established at his church in Godfrey.

Teresa Ellen Haun, 52, of Alton, died Mar. 3, 2000, at her place of employment in St. Louis. Surviving are a sister, Bonne Wilhelm of Godfrey; a sister-in-law, Marcia Haun of Bethalto; and nephews, Tony and Travis Haun. Services were in Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Alton. Memorials may be given to the Tony and Travis Educational Fund at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Godfrey.

Daniel A. Hauser, 54, of Alton, died Apr. 10, 2001. Surviving are his mother, Gertrude; brothers, Ted of St. Joseph, Mo., and Bill of Memphis, Tn.; and a sister, Marie Quin of Grand Rapids, Mi. Services were in Staten Funeral Home in Alton. Memorials may be given to Marquette Catholic High School in Alton, and to Catholic Charities.

Edith L. Hausman, 88, of Fosterburg, died Aug. 20, 1997. Her husband, John, preceded her in death. Surviving are a son, Donald of Weston, Mo.; a brother, Harry French of East Alton; and three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services were through Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Alton. Memorials may be given to the Foster Township Fire Department.

Hausman 11/14/98
Chester A. Hausman, 82, of Godfrey, died Nov. 14, 1998, in Saint Anthony's Hospital in St. Louis. He married Nettie Wilderman, who preceded him in death. Surviving are sons, Lance of Winston Salem, N.C., and Colin of Mascoutah. Services were in Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Memorials may be given to the Salvation Army.

Myrtle R. Hawk, 93, died Feb. 9, 1997. Her husband, Theodore, preceded her in death. Surviving are daughters, Janette Ford of Alton, Joan Thompson of Oklahoma City, Ok., and Jacqueline Grieshop of Wood River; a sister, Linda DeCrevel; and eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Services were in Gent's. Memorials may be given to Calvary Baptist Church library fund, and to charities of choice.

Also surviving are sons, George and Richard, both of Alton, and Gary of West Alton, Mo.; daughters, Jane Page and Bonnie Hawkins, both of Alton, and Norma Romain of Florida; brothers, Ted Roark of Fredericktown, Mo., and Clifford Roark of New Haven, Mo.; and a sister, Rosie Smith of Sullivan, Mo. Services were in Fine and Quinn Chapel for Funerals in Alton. Memorials may be given to charities of choice.

Henry Hawkins, of Alton, died Oct. 31, 2000, in his home. His wife, Rose, survives. Also surviving are sons, Charles Holloway of Milwaukee, Wi., and Steven Page, David Holloway, William Butler, Terry Lester and Harry Foster, all of Alton; and daughters, Theresa Hawkins, Stephanie Frazer, Carla Frazer, Sharon Page, Margaret Page and Barbara Holloway, all of Alton. Services were through Cathy M. Williams and Sons Funeral Home in Godfrey.

Helen L. Hay, 66, of South Roxana, died Dec. 11, 2000, in Alton Memorial Hospital. Her husband, Clarence, preceded her in death. Surviving are sons, David of Manassas, Va., and Douglas of South Roxana; daughters, Sandra Sheppard of Edwardsville, and Linda Harris of Alton; and sisters, Louise Roos of Lincoln, and Carol Smith of Brownsville, Tx.

Wilma Mildred Haycraft, 93, of Brighton, died Jan. 20, 1997, in Saint Anthony's. Her husband, Ralph, preceded her in death. Surviving are a daughter, Betty Rain of Alton; a son, Melvin of Texas; sisters, Evadna Ball of Roxana, Wanda Dudley of Peoria, Myrtle Sweetman of Alton, and Mary Jane Moore of Florida; a brother, Dean Benz of Brighton; and seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Services were in Targhetta in Brighton. Memorials may be given to St. Paul United Methodist Church and Robings Manor Nursing Home in Brighton.

Betty Haycraft, 70, formerly of Bethalto, died Oct. 14, 1999, in Annapolis, Md. Her husband, Harold, preceded her in death. Surviving is a daughter, Sue Kramer of Crofton, Md. Services were through Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Bethalto.

Hayes 12/31/98
Heather Christine Hayes, 24, of Wood River, died Dec. 31, 1998, in Christian Hospital Northeast in St. Louis. Her husband, Steven, survives. Also surviving are her parents, Daniel and Peggy Mathews of Moro; a son, Bradley, at home; daughters, Stephanie and Brook, at home; and a sister, Michelle Baggett of Moro. Services were in Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Bethalto. Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church of Rosewood Heights.

William Hayes, 71, of St. Louis, died June 26, 1999, in Christian Hospital Northeast. He married Donna Roark, who survives. Also surviving are sons, William of Kansas City, Mo., and Michael, Robert and David, all of St. Louis; daughters, Joyce Beard of Truman, Ak., Lin Thownsend of St. Charles, Mo., and Joann Higgenbotham of West Alton, Mo.; a brother, John of St. Louis; and a sister, Vera Scott of Alton. Services were in Gent Funeral Home in Alton.
