Irene M. Bleem, 89, died May 31, 1997. Her husband, William, preceded her in death. Surviving are a sister, Alice Brown of Waco, Tx.; and three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services were through Staten.

Fred T. Blevens, 90, of Alton, died May 18, 2000, in Saint Anthony's Health Center in Alton. He married Mabel Avery, who preceded him in death. Surviving are a son, Robert of Wood River; daughters, Freda Besaw of Jerseyville, Betty Schmidt of East Alton, Mary Bartee of East Alton, and Shirley Stevenson of Kane. Services were in Gent Funeral Home in Alton.

Emma Margaret Blevins, 90, of Alton, died Jan. 16, 1999, in Saint Anthony's Health Center in Alton. Her husband, Lawrence, preceded her in death. Surviving are brothers, Henry Davis of San Diego, Ca., and Charley Davis of Gladewater, Tx. Services were in Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Alton.

Daniel Blodget, 83, of Alton, died July 10, 1998, in V.I.P. Manor Nursing Home in Wood River. He married Ruth Long, who preceded him in death. Surviving are daughters, Gloria Cornell of Alton, and Glenna Thomas of Griggsville; and a brother, Ralph of Los Angeles, Ca. Services were through Targhetta Funeral Home in Brighton. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Dorothy Blumstein, 85, of Brighton, died Mar. 6, 2001, in Jersey Community Hospital. Her husband, Russell, preceded her in death. Surviving is a brother, Frank Hamersma of South Dakota; and a sister, Clara Reistma of Fairmont, Mn. Services were in Targhetta Funeral Home in Brighton. Memorials may be given to charities of choice.

Boals 07/20/98
Dr. Frank M. Boals, 83, of Alton, died July 20, 1998, in Saint Anthony's Health Center in Alton. He married Margaret Monfort, who survives. He was an osteopath prior to retirement, an active member of the Alton Symphony Orchestra, and the Alton-Godfrey Rotary Club, where he had more than 50 years perfect attendance. Also surviving is a son, Dr. David Boals of Stuttgart, Germany. A memorial service, through Gent Funeral Home in Alton, will be conducted at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Alton Symphony Orchestra and First Congregational Church of Alton.

Bobo 08/27/00
Nancy Lynn Bobo, 41, formerly of East Alton, died Aug. 27, 2000, in Tri City Hospital in Oceanside, Ca. Her husband, Alger, survives. Also surviving are her parents, Wayne and Sue Cloninger of Alton; a son, Cpl. Kyle Walker of Camp Pendleton, Ca.; a sister, Kathy Theen of O'Fallon, Mo.; and a grandmother, Amelia Tedrick of Wood River. Services were in Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights. Memorials may be given to charities of choice.

Carl Bock, 79, died Feb. 12, 1997. He married Mary Ann Kudelka, who preceded him in death. Surviving are a son, Carl of Brighton; a daughter, Carlene Dwyer of Brighton; and eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Services were through Gent's. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Ronald E. Bock, Jr., 53, of Alton, died Nov. 15, 1998, in St. Mary's Health Center in Richmond Heights, Mo. He is survived by his parents, Ronald of Wilsonville, and Vera of Godfrey; and a sister, Vera Schultze of Godfrey. Services were in Fine and Quinn Chapel for Funerals in Alton. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.

Charles Bock, 57, of Godfrey, died Sept. 27, 2000, in Saint Anthony's Health Center in Alton. He married Alice Blackorby, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Steve Lahey of Godfrey; a daughter, Christina Bock of San Diego, Ca.; a step-daughter, Tammy Plumb of Godfrey; and brothers, Harvey and Johnny, both of Quincy, and Robert of Mountain Grove, Mo. Services were in Gent Funeral Home in Alton.

Shelia Rae Bock, 44, of Godfrey, died Jan. 30, 2001, in Alton Memorial Hospital. Her husband, Robert, survives. Also surviving are her mother, Bertha Floyd of Franklin, N.C.; a brother, Vaughn Martin of Helena, Mt.; and sisters, Mary Thaxton of Alton, and Bobbie Mohr of Terre Haute, In. Services were through Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Godfrey. Memorials may be given to the Open Door Fellowship Church in Alton.

R. Eugene Bockhorst, 71, of Godfrey, died Feb. 10, 1998, in Alton Memorial Hospital. He married Mary Cobb, who survives. He had been vice president of services for Olin Corp. in East Alton. Also surviving are his mother, Statella of Alton; a son, Dr. Bradley of Lake Forest, Ca.; daughters, Gretchen Edmiston of Rushville, Joan Farrell of Southlake, Tx.; and Marianne and Marla, both of Lake Forest; and nine grandchildren. Services were through Elias-Smith in Godfrey. Memorials may be given to Evangelical United Church of Christ and the American Cancer Society.

Surviving are a son, Robert, of Fort Walton Beach, Fl.; a daughter, Ruth Voorhees of East Alton; and sisters, Emma Ebbeler of Brighton, and Violet Kennedy of St. Louis. John J. Bolfing, Sr., 72, of Wood River, died Nov. 11, 1998, in Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He married Alma Hyman, who survives. Also surviving are sons, Ben Lewis and Warren Bolfing; daughters, Joyce Beller, Agnes Collman, Betty Wyman and Becky Rexford; and a brother, Wilbur. Surviving are daughters, Linda Beaty of Akron, Oh., and Sandra Butcher of Raytown, Mo.; brothers, Donald of Hillsboro, Charles of California, and Arthur; a sister, Sadie Carter of Godfrey; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Kessel of Troy.
