Illinois, U.S., County Marriage Records, 1800-1940

Gust 12/13/97
Urban Gust, 72, of Kane, died Dec. 13, 1997, in his home.
He married Shirley Franklin, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Terry of Meadowbrook; daughters, Sherrie Edgell of Kane, and Michele Morris of Jerseyville; brothers, Ed and Richard, both of St. Charles, Mo.; and 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were through Elias-Smith in Bethalto.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Guthrie 11/17/97
Charles F. Guthrie, 73, of Alton, died Nov. 17, 1997, in his home.
He married Virginia Stewart, who survives.
Also surviving are sons, David of Brighton, and Charles of Rantoul; a sister, Leona Hosfelt of East Alton; and six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services were through Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Alton.
Memorials may be given to the American Lung Association.

Guthrie 01/21/98
Virginia D. Guthrie, 71, of Brighton, died Jan. 21, 1998, in Alton Memorial Hospital.
Her husband, Charles, preceded her in death.
Surviving are her mother, Minnie; sons, David of Brighton, and Charles of Rantoul; a brother, Ivan Stewart of Sedalia, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Leona Hosfelt of East Alton; and six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were in Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Alton.
Memorials may be given to Saint Anthony's Home Health Care.

Gutman 04/18/98
Kari Ann Gutman, 20, of Alton, died Apr. 18, 1998, in Beverly Farm Foundation in Godfrey.
She is survived by her parents, William and Karen.
Services were through Elias-Smith in Alton.

Bachman 09/17/98
Mary E. Bachman, 82, of Godfrey, died Sept. 17, 1998, in Rosewood Care Center in Alton.
Her husband, Fred, preceded her in death.
Surviving are sons, David and Dale, both of Brighton, and Robert of Godfrey.
Services were through Gent Funeral Home in Alton.
Memorials may be given to Evangelical United Church of Christ in Godfrey.

Bagley 12/09/96
ROCKPORT, Texas - Gerald "Jerry" Bagley Jr., 58, died Monday, Dec. 9, 1996, in Rockport, TX.
Born Jan. 19, 1938, in Alton, he was the son of Dorothy Bagley of Alton and the late Gerald Bagley.
He married the former Ann Adams in 1989 in Florida.
She survives.
In addition to his wife and mother, surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Adam and Gail Bagley of Cayce, S.C., and Brett and Donna Bagley of Baton Rouge, La ; one daughter and son-in-law, Mareen and Eric Treese of Tempe, AZ.; two stepdaughters, Victoria Mercer and Christine Ciocco; and three granddaughters, Brandy Bagley, Carlee Bagley and Ashlyn Treese.

Joseph C. Bagley, 69, of Godfrey, died Oct. 29, 1997, in Blu-Fountain Manor in Godfrey.
He is survived by a sister, Colleen Depper of Godfrey.
Services were through Gent.
Memorials may be given to the Kenneth Hagen Scholarship Fund.

Nola Bagley, 46, of Jerseyville, died Apr. 11, 2001, in Saint Anthony's Health Center in Alton.
Surviving are a son, Jason Banks of Wood River; daughters, Amber Barnard and Jennifer Banks, both of Wood River; and brothers, Donnie Banks of Kansas, and Ronnie Banks of California.
Services were in Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Alton.
Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.

Bailey 05/19/97
Rodney L. Bailey, 69, of Alton, died May 19, 1997, in her home.
She is survived by a son, Bradley of Alton; a daughter, Kimberly of Peoria; and one grandchild.
Services were in Gent.
Memorials may be given to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Bailey 04/07/98
Forrest James Bailey, 84, of Alton, died Apr. 7, 1998, in Robings Manor Nursing Home in Brighton.
He married Virginia Wallace, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are sons, Dale and Stanley, both of Godfrey, and Robert of Peoria, AZ; brothers, Ralph of Granite City, and Kenny of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; a sister, Maxine Markham of Jerseyville; and 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services were in Gent.
Memorials may be given to Saint Anthony's Hospice in Alton.

Bailey 05/26/98
Warren H. Bailey, 77, of Bethalto, died May 26, 1998, in Alton Memorial.
Surviving are sons, Gary of Idaho Springs, Co., Randall of Washington, Il., and Wally of Washburn, IL; brothers, Leland of Geff, and Lyndall of Arkansas; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services were through Marks.

Baiter 02/27/97
John E. Baiter, 75, of Terre Haute, In., died Feb. 27, 1997. He married Alice Brakie, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, James of Godfrey; a daughter, Cynthia Johnson of Rockbridge; a sister, Louise Dover of Alton; and six grandchildren.
Private services were through Burke-Fine Funeral Home in Alton.
