Ruby Faye (Meek) Rance Renn

July 31, 1915 – March 24, 2011

Ruby Faye (Meek) Rance Renn, 95, of Knightstown, died March 24 at her son’s home in Knightstown.

She was born on July 31, 1915, in Darlington, a daughter of the late Perry and Lulu Bowen Meek.

Mrs. Renn was a seamstress for many years and worked at RCA for 28 years. She was a member of Sewing Guild in Florida and did taxes for AARP.

Survivors include two sons, Everett Rance of Knightstown and Denis Rance of Jennings, Fla.; one daughter, Doris Sachs of Waverly; 11 grandchildren, Pam Shull, Michelle Rance, Kenneth Rance, Denis Rance, Dawn Holder, Dianne Dunn, Marsha Bean, Deborah Sachs, Susie Davenport, Leslee Schneiders and Bradley Sachs; eight step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Leslie Rance; her second husband, Leo Renn; son, Franklin Rance; and two brothers and six sisters.

Visitation was March 27 at Condo and Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson and funeral services were March 28 with Paul Enyart officiating. Burial followed in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Zbignief John Fiega

March 12, 1950 - March 27, 2011

Zbignief John Fiega, 61, of Knightstown died March 27 at his home.

He was born March 12, 1950, in Caracas, Venezuela, a son of the late Jan and Cecylia Fiega.

Mr. Fiega retired from Acrux Securities at Keihin in Greenfield. He previously worked at RCA/BMG in Indianapolis for over 35 years. A member of Knightstown United Methodist Church, Mr. Fiega was also involved with the Optimist and Babe Ruth baseball programs. He served on the Knightstown Public Library Board for many years. Mr. Fiega enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed fly fishing, his chocolate Labrador retriever, "Moose,” golf and cooking.

Survivors include his wife, Diane (Sisson) Fiega; and four sons, Chris (wife, Marie) Fiega of Indianapolis, Andrew Fiega of Carmel, Joseph Fiega of Indianapolis and Anthony Fiega of Knightstown.

Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Friday, April 1, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown with Pastor Ken Wells officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, March 31, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Knightstown Food Pantry, 27 S. Jefferson St., Knightstown, IN 46148.

Rachel R. Beaver

June 14, 1924 – April 3, 2011

Rachel R. Beaver, 86, of Shirley, died April 3 at St. Vincent Heart Center of Indiana.

She was born June 14, 1924, in Fishers, the daughter of the late Thomas Clarence and Hazel Blanche (Moose) Beaver.

Mrs. Beaver was a lifelong homemaker who enjoyed cooking, sewing and Artex painting. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Shirley Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include two sons, Charles R. (wife, Linda) Beaver of Wilkinson and Randall E. (wife, Mary) Beaver of Greenfield; one brother, William Howard Lackey; five grandchildren, Jenni McDaniel, Christopher Beaver, Sara Dodridge, Rhonda McBride and Matthew Beaver; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert P. Beaver, and her brother, Robert Lackey.

Visitation is April 6 at Condo and Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be April 7 at 10 a.m. at Condo and Son with Dan Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery in Fortville.

Blake Evan Leonard Richardson

April 2, 2011

Blake Evan Leonard Richardson, 6, of Diamondhead, Miss., died April 2 in Bay St. Louis, Miss.

He was the son of Mark and Stormy Richardson.

Blake attended kindergarten at East Hancock Elementary. He enjoyed basketball, baseball, fishing and spending time with his parents and his sister, Emma.

Survivors include his parents; a sister, Emma; his grandparents, L. Allen and Pat Van Duyn; and Phil and Diana Marcum; great-grandparents Isabelle Van Duyn, Edith Aulbach, Ross and Vanetia Connors, and James Bowman; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Howard Leonard Richardson; and great-grandparents Thaddeus and Irene Richardson, Robert F. Aulbach and Sterle Van Duyn.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Friday, April 8, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown. Burial will follow at Raleigh Cemetery. Visitation is Friday, April 8, from 10 a.m. until time of services.

George H. Shafer

March 11, l930 – April 2, 2011

George H. Shafer, 81, of Carthage, died April 2 at Flat Rock River Lodge in Rushville.

He was born March 11, 1930, in Indianapolis, a son of the late Clarence L. and Mattie M. (Buckheister) Shafer.

Mr. Shafer was a 1948 graduate of Southport High School. He retired from Eli Lilly in 1993 after 30 years of employment as an electrician. He was a member of the Knightstown Friends Church. He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley A. (Ferguson) Shafer of Carthage; three daughters, Pamela (husband, Ronald) Helms of Pimento, Peggy (husband, Wade) Beatty of Knightstown and Penny (husband, Darrell) Weidner of Carthage; a granddaughter, Carla (husband, Joshua) Counceller of Columbus, Ohio; three brothers, Jerry (wife, Kathy) Shafer of St. Louis, Eddie (wife, Pauletta) Shafer of Clarksville, Tenn., Tony Shafer of Atlanta; a sister-in-law, Maxine Shafer of Indianapolis; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Adam Beatty, and two brothers, John Shafer and Michael Shafer.

Visitation and funeral services were April 5 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Tim Basford officiating. Burial followed in Glen Cove Cemetery.

Bonnie Knott Dellinger

October 25, 1948 - March 29, 2011

Bonnie Knott Dellinger of Knightstown, formerly of Centerville, died March 29 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

She was the daughter of the late Harry and Hazel Knott.

Mrs. Dellinger was born and raised in Centerville and was a graduate of Centerville High School and IU East. She was a long-time employee of Dunn Center Mental Health, where she worked as a medical records manager. She was co-owner of Bowman and Son Home Improvement. She was a member of the Red Hats and volunteered for the Knightstown Cheer Guild and United Way. Mrs. Dellinger enjoyed reading, traveling and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Allen Dellinger; three daughters, Lisa Miller of Fortville, Jennie (husband, Gabe) Garner of Greenfield and Jackie Shearer of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Clayton Miller, Jenna Shearer, Megan Garner and Katlyn Garner; a brother, David Knott of Greencastle; a sister, Marcia (Glen) Knott Ohmit of Muncie; nephews, Mark and Travis Culbertson of Centerville; nieces Sara (husband, Mason) Ohmit Cooper of Florida and Lorrie (husband, Scott) Dellinger Ness of Virginia; and grand-niece Kelsey Cooper.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Knott Culbertson and a cousin, Nancy Bane, both of Centerville.

Visitation and funeral services were April 2 at Centerville Christian Church. Mills Funeral Home in Centerville was in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hancock Memorial Hospital, Hospital Foundation, 801 North State Street, Greenfield, IN 46140.

Wendell L. Huntzinger

June 24, 1939 - April 4, 2011

Wendell L. Huntzinger, 71, of Markleville, died April 4 at Community Hospital East in Indianapolis.

He was born June 24, 1939, in Anderson, a son of the late Walter H. and Esther (Teeters) Huntzinger.

Mr. Huntzinger was a Lapel High School graduate and an active member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Knightstown, where he served as a Eucharist minister, member of the finance committee and usher. He was a member and past worthy matron of Order of the Eastern Star. Mr. Huntzinger held dual memberships in both Shirley Masonic Lodge 531 and Lapel Lodge 625, and was a past master of both lodges. A member of Scottish Rite, he was also active in Pet a Pal and Junior Achievement. Mr. Huntzinger retired from General Motors after 28 years of service. He was also employed at World’s Finest Chocolates and Sears at Mounds Mall in Anderson. He enjoyed driving his antique John Deere tractor at Stony Creek Pumpkin Patch.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne; two stepdaughters, Jessica Bressner of Mahomet, Ill., and Molly (husband, Lane) Judd of Anderson; a son, Tom (wife, Pam) of Aurora, Colo.; two daughters, Annette Jones and Karen Huntzinger, both of Cheyenne, Wyo.; five grandchildren, Marie and Shannon Huntzinger, Sarah Huntzinger, Sam Jones and Kiersten Judd; and three brothers, Ronald (wife, Rita) Huntzinger, Warren (wife, Nancy) Huntzinger and Neil (wife, Elaine) Huntzinger.

Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Friday, April 8, at Condo and Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Father Joseph Rautenberg and Sister Shirley Gerth OSF officiating. Masonic services, courtesy of Lapel Lodge 625, will take place at 7 p.m. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery in Anderson. Visitation is Thursday, April 7, from 4-8 p.m.
