Richard Marshall, 86, Westport

Richard Marshall, 86, Westport, died Friday, July 16, 2004 at 12:15 p.m. in the emergency room at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg.

Born May 13, 1918 in Fountain County, he was the son of Rex B. and Augusta Lois (Brown) Marshall. He married Donna K. Idlewine in Westport on May 6, 1956 and she preceded him in death on July 6.

A graduate of Tanger High School, he was raised in Parke and Fountain Counties and has been a resident of Westport since 1950. He was a farmer from 1950-64 and he also worked for Naval Avionics at Indianapolis. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Army. He served with the 755th Tank Battalion in the European Theater.

He is survived by two sons, Kenneth L. Marshall and Paul A. Marshall, both of Westport; a daughter, Anita M. Templin of Willoughby, OH; two sisters, Iomgene Ingram of Dallas, Texas and Myrella Pearl Elrod of Indianapolis; six grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Marshall.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport. Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Rev. Colleen Lucas officiating. Burial will be in Westport Cemetery with military graveside services. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans through the funeral home.

Jeff D. Satterfield, 42, Shelbyville

Jeff D. Satterfield, 42, Shelbyville, died Friday, July 16, 2004 in Shelbyville.

Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Monday at the graveside in Stipps Hill Cemetery in Franklin County with Rev. Matt Chambers officiating.

Visitation will be at graveside.

Carson H. Dreyer, 88, Greensburg

Carson H. Dreyer, 88, Greensburg, died at 1:15 a.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2004 at Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg.

Born March 29, 1916 in Decatur County, he was the son of Henry Peter Dreyer and Kathryn L. Abplanalp Dreyer. He married Dorothy Jean Holzclaw on March 24, 1951 and she survives.

A plant manager for 11 years at Crop Fertilizer in New Point, he also farmed for 31 years and was a member of the Zion Methodist Church where he served as a trustee and worked on the cemetery board for 40 years, the Gideon’s since 1982 where he furnished Bibles for Camp Maumee for 10 years and was also a member of the Decatur County Historical Society and the Tri-County Genealogical Society.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Gerald H. (Robin) Dreyer of Greensburg; a sister, Martha Nor-man of Greensburg; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home. Funeral service is at 10 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Alfred Thornton officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery in Decatur County.

Memorials may be made to the Gideon’s International.

George Irvin Hartig, 69, Osgood

George Irvin Hartig, 69, Osgood, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. Funeral service is at 12 (noon) on Saturday at Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery “Finks” in Osgood. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday. Memorials may be made to the family or Margaret Mary Hospice in care of the funeral home.

Samuel L. Innis, 70, Greensburg

Samuel L. Innis, 70, Greensburg, died at 6:25 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg.

Born Aug. 10, 1933 in New Point, he was the son of Robert Innis, Sr. and Mabel (Harding) Innis-Wise.

A self-employed carpenter, he was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Air Force.

He is survived by a son, Chad Innis of Greensburg; three daughters, Christine Innis and Stacie Innis, both of Greensburg and Michelle Reisert of Brookville; brothers, William Innis of Greenwood and Robert Innis of Vevay; sisters Ann Burns and Charlene Gray, both of Greensburg, Jane Jacobs of Winchester and Barbara Draper of Huntington, Ark.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Hubbard; two brothers, Richard and Donald Wise; a sister, Marilyn Wise and a grandchild.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service today at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Ison officiating. Burial will follow in the Rossburg Cemetery in New Point.

Helen Virginia Krummen, 84, Greensburg

Helen Virginia Krummen, 84, Greensburg, died Monday, July 12, 2004 at Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg.

Born Aug. 31, 1919 in Covington, Ky., she was the daughter of Horace W. Sargent and Helen Hurst. She was married to her husband of 60 years, Jerome L. Krummen, and he survives.

A homemaker, she was a member of St. John’s Parish in Enochsburg.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Bob Krummen of Columbus, Ohio and William Krummen of Knoxville, Tenn.; a daughter, Janet Long of Austin, Texas; grandchildren Dr. David Krummen, Dr. Paul Krummen, Robert Kathy, Laura and Andrew Krummen and Brian and Jason Long; great-grandchildren Grace and Gabriel Long and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Horace W. Sargent, Jr.

Funeral service is at 10:30 a.m. (fast time) Friday at St. Aloysius Gonzaga, 4366 Bridgetown Rd. in Cincinnati. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church. Rebold, Rosenacker & Sexton Funeral Home, 3700 Glenmore in Cincinnati is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Franklin Lenzy Brooks, 52 and Elaine Vicars Brooks, 48, Mooresville

Franklin Lenzy Brooks, 52 and Elaine Vicars Brooks, 48, Mooresville, died Monday, July 5, 2004.

A joint funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel in Mooresville with Rev. Randal Ritchie officiating.

A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Salisbury National Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Elaine was the daughter of Willard Leroy Vicars of Greensburg and the late Mary Anne Knight Vicars.

She is also survived by a sister, Lucy Rumsey of Greensburg.

Marie Roberts, 85, Phoenix, Ariz.

Marie Roberts, 85, Phoenix, Ariz., (formerly of Napoleon), died Saturday, July 10, 2004 at the Reid Hospital in Richmond.

She is survived by a sister, Hazel (Norman) Comer of Greensburg.

Funeral service is at 2 p.m. today at Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Rand Hooton officiating.

Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery at Elrod.

Memorials may be made to the Washington Cemetery or the Versailles Baptist Church.
