Rodney Eugene Calvert, Sr.

Rodney Eugene Calvert, Sr., 45, of North Vernon passed away at 5:45 a.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus, Indiana.

Mr. Calvert was born on June 7, 1964 in Jackson County, Indiana. He was the son of the late Benjamin Calvert and Joyce K. Ray Birge. He married Angela Sheppard on December 17, 1984 at the Jennings County Courthouse in Vernon, Indiana. She survives.

Mr. Calvert worked from 1984 until 1990 at Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville, Indiana. He was a 1982 graduate of Jennings County High School. His hobbies included working on cars, arrowhead hunting and being with his friends and family.

Surviving with his wife and mother are his step-father, Cecil Roy Birge of North Vernon, Indiana; three sons, Rodney Calvert, Jr. and his wife Enola, of Westville, Indiana, David Calvert and his wife Tina of North Vernon, Indiana, and Harlan James of Cumberland, Kentucky; one daughter, Tina James of Cumberland, Kentucky; two brothers, Randy Calvert and his wife Becki of Columbus, Indiana, and John Birge and his wife Wanda of Scottsburg, Indiana; three sisters, Teresa Janse and Vickie Birge both of North Vernon, Indiana and Becky Norsworthy and her husband Billy of Scottsburg, Indiana; three grandson and three granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his father in 2009.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home with the Rev. Dale Boyd officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 from 4:00 till 8:00 p.m. at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Baldwin Cemetery.

Memorials may be made through the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home for Funeral Expenses.

Sharon Lee McIntosh

Sharon Lee McIntosh, 43, of North Vernon, Indiana passed away at 4:24 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2009 at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon, Indiana.

Ms. McIntosh was born on November 6, 1965 in Seymour, Indiana. She was the daughter of Tommy and Sandra Lenz McIntosh.

Ms. McIntosh worked from 1984 until 2005 at Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville, Indiana. She was an attendant for 3 years and the remaining time at M.S.D.C. she was a secretary. She was a 1984 graduate of Jennings County High School. She attended Lord of Life Lutheran Church most of her life. Her hobbies included building and working on computers, watching old movies and spending time with her grandchild.

Surviving with her parents are two daughters, Kristie (Michael) Sproles and Misty Dickinson both of North Vernon, Indiana; two brothers, Timothy and Tommy Ray McIntosh both of Vernon, Indiana; one sister, Katie McIntosh of North Vernon, Indiana; 1 grandchild Nicole Weghorst.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church in North Vernon, Indiana with the Vicar's Dan Hardus and Scott Kozisek officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 from 4:00 till 8:00 p.m. at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to the Service at the Church. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made through the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home to the Lord of Life Lutheran Church.

Forrest Wayne Monday

Forrest Wayne Monday, 52, of North Vernon, Indiana passed away at 8:20 a.m. on Friday, September 04, 2009 at his residence.

Mr. Monday was born in April 13, 1957 in Seymour, Indiana he was the son of Kenneth Monday and the late Geneva Fortner Monday.

Mr. Monday worked for the Republic Newspaper as a carrier and in the shipping department, he had also worked in delivery for Meals on Wheels in Columbus, Indiana. He was a 1976 graduate of Jennings County High School. He was a member of the Butlerville Mennonite Church. His hobbies included fishing and playing bingo.

He is survived by his father, Kenneth Monday of North Vernon, Indiana; his girlfriend, Janet Wooten of North Vernon, Indiana; one brother Tony (Melissa) Monday of North Vernon, Indiana; three sisters, Kathy (Mike) Dearing of Noblesville, Indiana, Jeanne (Kevin) Fortner of Richardson, Texas and Susan (Bill) Webb of North Vernon, Indiana; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Geneva Monday and his grandparents.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home with the Rev. Dale Boyd officiating. Friends may call on Monday, September 7, 2009 from 4:00 till 8:00 p.m. at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery.

Robert Earl Bland

Robert Earl Bland, 91, of North Vernon, Indiana passed away at 11:50 a.m. on Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at his residence.

Mr. Bland was born on December 3, 1917 in Loranger, Louisiana the son of Ernest and Doris Stanley Bland. He married Mary Clarkson on January 6, 1948 in North Vernon, Indiana. She survives.

Mr. Bland retired in 1984 as Head of Maintenance for Regal Rugs after 30 years of service. He was 67 years old at retirement. He was a World War II Veteran of the United States Army, serving from January 15, 1942 until November 3, 1945. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in North Vernon, Indiana. A member of Matt Hester Post #2021, Veterans of Foreign Wars in North Vernon, Indiana. A former member of the Moose Lodge in North Vernon, Indiana . His hobbies included his grandkids and a avid sports fan of Jennings County High School sports.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; two sons, Robert "Bob" (Cindy Smith) Bland of North Vernon, Indiana, Donn ( Margie) Bland of Houston, Texas; two daughters, Sue (Rick) Bright of North Vernon, Indiana, Traci (Marty) Johnson of Whiteland, Indiana; nine grandchildren, Justin (Sasha) Bland, Matthew Bland, Jacob Bland, Erica (Chad) Speer, Rikki Bright all of North Vernon, Indiana, Caleb (Melissa) Stone, Matthew (Sarah) Payne of Houston, Texas, Kyle and Morgan Johnson of Whiteland, Indiana; three great-grandchildren, Peyton Stone of Houston, Texas, Ethan Speer and Logan Connor Holmes both of North Vernon, Indiana

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Stanley Bland.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in North Vernon, Indiana with the Rev's. Marvin Sweet and Kendall Wildey officiating. Friends may call on Thursday, September 3, 2009 from 4:00 till 8:00 p.m. at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the Church. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery with Military graveside rites by members of Matt Hester Post # 2021, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Memorials may be made through the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home to the Veterans of Foreign Wars or American Kidney Foundation.

Norman Richard Neal

Richard Neal, 84, of North Vernon, Indiana passes away at 5:08 a.m. on Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at the Jennings Health Care Center in North Vernon, Indiana.

Mr. Neal was born on July 15, 1925 in North Vernon, Indiana. He was the son of George and Mary Neal. He married Dorothy Thompson in Jennings County, Indiana. She preceded him in death in 2007.

Mr. Neal worked for Bud's Salvage in North Vernon, Indiana for 3 years. He had previously worked several years as a machine operator for the North Vernon Forge. He attended Scipio High School. He was a World War II Veteran of the United State Navy serving from August 30, 1943 till April 13, 1946. He enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by two brothers, Harry Gentry of Morgantown, Indiana and Virgil Gentry of Florida; He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy; two brothers, George Gentry and James Neal; two sisters, Cecilia Tanner and Leona Waltermire.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana. Arrangements have been entrusted to Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon, Indiana.

Joshua Lee Bournak, Sr.

Joshua Lee Bournak, Sr., 21, of North Vernon passed away at 1:20 a.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2009 in North Vernon, Indiana following an auto accident.

Mr. Bournak was born on December 17, 1987, in Silver Spring, Maryland, the son of Christina Lynn Pate of North Vernon, Indiana and Kenny Mott of Vincennes, Indiana.

Mr. Bournak attended Jennings County High School. His hobbies included working on cars, lifting weights, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his companion Amy Campbell of North Vernon, Indiana; one son, Joshua Lee Bournak, Jr., and one daughter, Brooklei Bournak both of North Vernon, Indiana; one brother, Jason (Summer) Magner of North Vernon, Indiana; one sister, Jane Mott of Vincennes, Indiana; grandparents, Norma Martin of North Vernon, Indiana, Juanita Mott of Washington, Indiana and Harlan and Carolyn Pate of North Vernon, Indiana; Several Aunts and Uncles.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Carl and Pauline Pate and a nephew, Tatum Magner.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Burcham officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 from 4:00 till 8:00 p.m. at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made through the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home to The Bournak Children Trust Fund.

Delana B. Gibson

Delana Beatrice Gibson, 90, of Columbus, Indiana passed away at 8:53 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at Columbus Health and Rehabilitation Center in Columbus, Indiana.

Mrs. Gibson was born on August 16, 1919 in Bell County, Kentucky, the daughter of William and Dora Evan Howard. She married John Frank Gibson on October 3, 1936 in Bell County, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on April 27, 1982.

Mrs. Gibson retired from Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Columbus, Indiana. After retirement she continued to be a private duty Health LPN. She attended High School in Bell County, Kentucky. Her hobbies included reading; socializing with friends, yard sales and family time.

She is survived by three sons, Ondar (Norma) Gibson of North Vernon, Indiana, Carl (Lucy) Gibson of Columbus, Indiana, Ronnie Gibson of Scipio, Indiana; three daughters, Dorothy (James) Johnson, Gilda (William) Black, and Jincy Diane Carlock all of Columbus, Indiana; seventeen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and sixteen great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two daughters, Beatrice and Phyllis Gibson; two sons, Tracy & Charles Dennis Gibson; a granddaughter, Sylvia Gibson, grandson, Theodore Pursiful, three brothers, Ernest, Arley and Marion Howard, and a sister Bertha Orr.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home with Don Carlock officiating. Friends may call on Friday, August 28, 2009 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made through the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home to the Alzheimer's Association.

TSgt Timothy G. Bowman

TSgt, Timothy Gale Bowman, 39, of Warner Robbins Air Force Base in Warner Robbins, Georgia, formerly of Summerville, South Carolina was found on Monday, August 24, 2009 at his residence.

TSgt, Bowman was born on April 14, 1970 in Kokomo, Indiana the son of David and Janice Carmichael Bowman.

TSgt, Bowman was serving in the U.S. Air Force as an IDMT at Warner Robbins, AFB at the time of his passing. He was 1988 graduate of Summerville High School in Summerville, South Carolina. He attended Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina. His hobbies included music and anything to do with computers.

He is survived by his parents, one brother, Paul (Ryan) Bowman of O'Fallon, Missouri; three nephews, Joshua Paul, Connor Christian and Luke Patrick Bowman all of O'Fallon, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Elizabeth Bowman and Earl and Thelma Carmichael.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home with the Rev. David Ison officiating. Friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home on Saturday, August 29, 2009 from 9:30 till 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Bear Creek Cemetery in Jennings County, Indiana.

Memorials may be made through the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel to the Donor's Choice of Charity.
