Charles W. "Bill" Manning, 76

Greensburg - Charles W. "Bill" Manning, 76 of Westport, passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at his home.

He was born on June 23, 1933 in Rush County to parents James E. Manning and Alma Mae Woods Manning

He was preceded in death by: his parents, stepmother Alice Manning; daughters Dorothy Marie Manning, Roxanne Lynn Manning; brother Roy Edward Manning; and sister Nancy Miller.

Survivors include: son Charles (Maria) Manning of Batesville; son Roger (Shirley) Manning of Tennessee; son Chuck Manning of Alabama; daughter Amy (Jesse) Moody of Greensburg; brother Bobby (Connie) Manning of Columbus; brother Larry (Dorothy) Miller of Jennings County; sister Robin (Dale) Everhart of Hanover; sister Jo Ann Manning of Greensburg; 14 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

He was a member of the Baptist faith, and owned Manning’s Junk Yard for the majority of his life.

He then became a dairy farmer until he retired.

Bill loved animals and working on old cars.

He had a great love for his family and friends.

The funeral is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Friday, April 2 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home in Columbus.

Calling hours are on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to service.

Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery with Rev. Orville Turner officiating. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of the donors choice.

Don A Beck II, 61

Don A Beck II, 61, a Ft. Wayne resident for the past four years, died from an extended illness in Parkview Hospital at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2010.

Don was a former resident of Plymouth for 28 years before moving to Allen County.

He was born in Greensburg, IN. on Dec. 10, 1948, the son of Don A. and Dorothy (Tetrick) Beck. There, he grew up on the family farm.

He graduated from Greensburg High School with the class of 1967, and earned his Bachelor Degree from Purdue University in Agricultural Economics.

He served six years in the United States Army Ð National Guard.

On Dec. 28, 1974, in Lafayette, Don and Rita H. Huetson were married and together they raised two daughters.

From 1975 to 2008, Don worked as an Agricultural Specialist with farmers and agri-businesses throughout the northern half of Indiana.

Don was a Purdue University sports fan, an avid golfer and fully embraced computer technology and electronic devices. After retiring in 2008 Don became a great cook, and was an expert on the grill. He was a people person, who really got to know those he met and worked with. Above all as a family man he loved being in the presence of his grandchildren.

Don has remained a member of the Plymouth First United Methodist Church, where he loved singing in the church choir, he was also member of the Plymouth Lions Club for over 25 years, along with the Plymouth Kilwinning Lodge No.149 and the Elks Lodge.

Don is survived by his devoted wife, Rita, daughters and grandchildren: Chrissi (Mark) Sutch and children Tyler and Richie of Plymouth and Missy (Ken) Hicks and children Kelly and Jack of Valparaiso.

Also surviving are two sisters: Debbie Iacino, Denver, CO., and Diane Perkins, Georgetown, CO, his extended family and many nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends are invited to visit and share memories with his family on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, where a Masonic Rite will be given at 7:45 p.m. by members of the Plymouth Lodge. Calling will continue one hour prior to services on Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church, 400 N. Michigan St. in Plymouth. The Rev. Dr. Dean Fager will officiate.

Don will be honored for his service to his country with a presentation of the flag by American Legion Post No. 27 Commander; Julian Keiser.

Memorial gifts in DonÕs name may be made to the Church.

Dorothy 'Dot' Meyer, 93

Dorothy 'Dot' Meyer, 93, of Batesville, passed away on April 4, 2010 at St. Andrews Health Campus.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 5 - 8 p.m. at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at St. John United Church of Christ in Penntown with Rev. Judy Doll officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. John UCC in Penntown.

RoseMary Robinson Martin, 88

RoseMary Robinson Martin, 88, of Greenfield passed away April 3, 2010 at Regency Place in Greenfield.

She was born in Shelbyville on March 26, 1922 to Eston and Lucy (Kuhn) Robinson. She was married to Robert W. Martin, and he preceded her in death.

She was a lifetime area resident who graduated from Waldron High School in 1939. She was a homemaker and member of Zion United Church of Christ. She was an accomplished pianist who loved to travel with her husband. She loved the outdoors and spending time with children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons Gerald (Sandy) Martin of Kokomo, Hugh Martin of Greensburg, Stephen (Irene) Martin of Florida and David Martin of Florida; her daughter JoAnne (Patrick) Mark of South Carolina; her sisters Ruth Janice (George) Braden of Greensburg and Claron Joy (Hugh) Cassidy of Shelbyville as well as 9 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother Dwain Robinson.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Wednesday at Zion United Church of Christ with Rev. Dr. Mary Lundgren officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery.

Visitation will take place at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, make memorials to Shelby County Cancer Assn. in care of the funeral home or Community Hospital Foundation - Gallahue Mental Health Services in care of the funeral home.

Glenn E. George and Son Funeral Home in Shelbyville is handling the arrangements.

Rebecca 'Babe' Rose Johnson, 54

Rebecca 'Babe' Rose Johnson, 54 of Versailles, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2010 at her residence.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 10 at the Holton Christian Church in Holton.

Memorials may be made to the family care of the funeral home.

Arrangements were made by the Neal's Funeral Home in Osgood.

F. Gene Heitz, 77

F. Gene Heitz, 77 of Waynesburg, Ind., passed away Saturday April 3, 2010 at Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Gene was born August 4, 1932 in Bartholomew County to John & Helen Warner Heitz. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1950 and in 1952 during the Korean War Gene joined the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged December 14, 1955 and returned to Indiana. He then worked for Arvin Industries where he retired from after 42 years of service.

He was a member of the Waynesburg Christian Church where he served as deacon and trustee. He was a member of the Alert Masonic Lodge which merged with Hope Masonic Lodge. At Alert he was past master. He was also a member of the Eastern Star in North Vernon. He also enjoyed woodworking.

On August 16, 1952 he married Patricia "Patty" McNealy at the Waynesburg Christian Church and lived in Waynesburg since 1958.

Survivors include his wife Patty of Waynesburg; son, Ronald Heitz of Yuma, Ariz.; grandchildren, Jayme (Tom) Heitz Bunch, Andrew Heitz and Austin Heitz all of Arizona and a brother, Larry (Barbara) Heitz.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Faye; and brother, Randy Jo.

The funeral will begin at 10 a.m. conducted Friday at the Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Rev. David Burnett officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be donated through the funeral home to the Waynesburg Christian Church or to Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Timothy Brian Glasson Sr.
(April 1, 1965 - July 28, 2012)

Timothy Brian Glasson Sr., 47 of North Vernon died Saturday July 28, 2012 at his home.

The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Norman Funeral Home in Hope. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Rockcreek Cemetery.

Survivors include his mother Jo Ann Southern Glasson of North Vernon; sons Timothy B. Glasson, Jr. of Franklin and Samuel Glasson of North Vernon; siblings, Robert Glasson.Jr. of Irvin, Ky, Linda (Roy) Beck of Fort Myers, FL., Janice (Russell) Parks of Greensburg, Kevin Glasson of Freedom, Michael (Heather) Glasson of Clarksville, TN., and Bruce (Crystal) Glasson of North Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his father Robert Glasson, Sr. and a brother Gary Glasson.
