Theresa M. Sieradzki
May 17, 1930 - Feb. 13, 2010

SOUTH BEND - Theresa M. (Lovas) Sieradzki, 79, of South Bend, passed away peacefully at home on February 13, 2010, with her family by her side. Born May 17, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sophie Lovas. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Ervin Lovas. On September 2, 1950, Theresa married her true love, Raymond J. Sieradzki, who survives in South Bend. She is also survived by two daughters, Renee (Robert) Kosanovich of South Bend and Lori (Frank) Ermeti of Mishawaka; three sisters, Lucyann Lovas of Mishawaka, Evelyn (Stanley) Nowicki of South Bend and Joan (the late Eugene) Carrico of Mishawaka; five grandchildren, Joel (Monica), Matthew (Bryn) and Joshua Fletcher, Josh and Ben Kosanovich; and four great - grandchildren, Andrew, Anna Rose, Ethan and Brody. Theresa was a loving wife, mom, grandma and great - grandma to all of her family. She was kind to everyone and left a lasting impression with anyone she would meet. After 20 years she retired as the operations manager for the IUSB Bookstore. She was a woman of great strength and faith, and was a lifetime member of St. Anthony dePadua Catholic Church. She also helped on the Prayer Line. Friends may call in the McGann Hay, Forest G. Hay Chapel, 435 S. Ironwood Drive, on Monday from 4 - 8 PM, with the Rosary being held at 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday at 10:00 AM in Saint Anthony dePadua Catholic Church, where friends may call one hour prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Anthony's Church.

Bernard Joseph Barron
September 8, 1945 - February 11, 2010

GRANGER - - Bernard Joseph Barron, 64, passed peacefully on February 11, 2010. He was the son of the late Bernard and Monica Barron. Survivors include his wife, Li Wei; daughter, Christine; and sister, Dolores. He had an extensive career as an Electrical Engineer at Texas Instruments and Bayer, and was Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. A memorial service will be held Monday at 2:00PM in Our Lady Fatima Chapel in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.

Ruth A. Johnson
Feb. 5, 1920 - Feb. 10, 2010

GRANGER - Mrs. Ruth Alice (Walker) Johnson, 90, passed away peacefully in her home early Wednesday morning. She was born in Kansas City, KS, to Don & Alice (Tollen) Bangs. Ruth graduated from Silver Creek High School, Silver Creek, IN. She earned a BS in Early Education from Bethel College and her Master's in Elementary Education from Indiana University Bloomington, and taught Remedial Reading in the elementary grades for Mishawaka and PHM School Systems, retiring in 1972 after 15 years. She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Morlan - Hersom (John) of Granger and Jerilyn Carter - Klein (Michael) of Anchorage, Alaska; three grandsons and eight great - grandchildren, Dr. Robert Morlan, DMD (Adrienne) of Plymouth, MA, and their children, Nicole & Paige, both age 5, Dr. Thomas Morlan, OD (Lori) of Granger, and their children, Nicholas, age 10, Alex, age 7, and Nathan, age 5, and Travis Carter (Lisa) of Dallas, TX, and their children, Braeden, age 15, Cole, age 13, and Lilly, age 8; and an ex - son - in - law, Don Morlan (Barb) of South Bend. She was predeceased by her son, Robb Baker; four husbands, Paul Baker, Harold Walker, Robert Slaughter and Gordon Johnson; and siblings, Don Bangs, Jon Bangs and Betty Smith. Mrs. Johnson spent all of her retirement in Ocala, FL, until 2000; since her husband had passed away she came to live with her daughter Cheryl and her family here in Granger and stayed with her until she passed away. A special thanks to Memorial Home Healthcare and especially to Brenda H. and Susan M., without whose help Cheryl never could have kept her mom at home. They were as loving and caring as if she were their own mother and was such a big help to Cheryl personally. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Feb. 19th, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of the Good Shepherd at First United Methodist Church, Mishawaka, Rev. Joyce Kuhn officiating. Her ashes will be entombed that same day at 2 p.m. in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette, IN. In lieu of flowers Ruth's family requests memorial contributions in Ruth's memory may be made to the PHM Educational Foundation, 55900 Bittersweet Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545, for use in Remedial Reading.

Bennie Jacob
May 31, 1922 – February 4, 2010

South Bend - Bennie Jacobs, 87, passed away on Thursday, February 04, 2010 in his home. He is survived by his daughters, Shonnie (Lou) Klatch, Gina Jacobs and Esther (Albert) Goetz; seven grandchildren, Nathan (Miriam), Rachel, Aaron, and David Klatch, and Shira, Abby, and Joel Mann; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his dear brother - in - law and sister - in - law, Erv and Corky Karlin, and sister - in - law, Sarah Jacobs. His beloved wife, Carol, preceded him in death 26 years ago. Bennie was born in Mishawaka and lived in South Bend his whole life. He served in the US Navy during WWII, graduated from Purdue University, and retired from Bendix after many years of service. Bennie was an avid bowler, soft ball player, handball player and swimmer during his early years and continued to be devoted to exercise at the YMCA until his latest illness. He was a member of the Hebrew Orthodox Congregation.

Funeral Services will be today, February 5 at 11:30 am in the chapel at the Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery. Burial will follow. Donations may be made to the Hebrew Orthodox Congregation.

Lillian M. Sult
July 1, 1934 - Jan. 29, 2010

SOUTH BEND - Lillian Mae Sult (Priester), 75, passed away peacefully and pain free on January 29, 2010, at 12:25 AM, at home in South Bend. Lil was born on July 1, 1934 in South Bend, to the late Frank and Elizabeth Priester. A graduate of Riley High School, class of 1952, Lillian held various clerical jobs and spent 19 years, before retirement as a clerk, in Quality Control at the AM General Plant. On October 17, 1959, she married John D. Sult, who survives, along with their two sons, Dave (Debbie) and John (Lisa) of South Bend; and daughter, Debbie (Mark) Vaske of Fountain Hills, Arizona. She also leaves, to cherish her memory, her eight grandchildren, Stephanie, David, Josh (Haines), Jessica, and Johnny Sult, as well as, Clay, Amber and Matthew Vaske. Lil was an avid Notre Dame fan and NBA basketball fan. She loved watching The Price is Right, even traveling twice to California to be a part of the studio audience. She was a phenomenal Euchre player with friends and family, as well as, playing online. Lil also enjoyed spending time outdoors and relaxing in the sun. She spent her last few days on earth laughing, and playing Euchre with her daughter and granddaughters. Per Lil's request, there will be no services or funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care.

Max Cossman
Feb. 23, 1919 – Jan. 26, 2010

GRANGER – Max Cossman, 90, passed away Tuesday while visiting his daughter’s home in Los Angeles, CA. Max was born in Warsaw, IN to the late Nathan and Esther Cossman. He married Bette Soslowsky on June 13, 1945, she died July 16, 2002. Member Sinai Synagogue, US Navy Captain in WW II. Surviving daughters: Elaine Cossman, Shelley (Brian) Osborne and a grandson Geoffrey Osborne. Funeral Monday 11:00am, McGann Hay, Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood at Jefferson. Burial Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery, Mishawaka with military honors.

Ruth B. Garnitz
Mar. 3, 1914 – Jan. 25, 2010

SOUTH BEND – Ruth B. Garnitz, 95, died Monday Hospice House. Born Kalamazoo to Morris and Sophie (Hirsch) Willage. Nov. 3, 1947 married Irving Garnitz he died Feb. of 1969. She was Personnel Director at the War Dept. Surviving children: Rick (Signe) Garnitz of Atlanta, GA, and Linda S. Garnitz of Hong Kong, China; a granddaughter Sarah Garnitz, Boston, MA and step - grandchildren Oliva, Lional and Tim McNamara all of Atlanta. Services tomorrow 11:00am, at Temple Beth - El. McGann Hay, Forest G. Hay Chapel is assisting. Burial Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials Temple Beth - El.

Larry K. Ditsler
May 19, 1944 - Jan. 24, 2010

SOUTH BEND - Larry K. Ditsler, 65, passed away at 6:08 AM Sunday morning in Ironwood Health & Rehab. He was born on May 19, 1944, in Cadillac, MI, to the late Rosella H. (Longley) and Harry R. Ditsler. Larry moved to South Bend with his family in 1950 and remained here the rest of his life. He attended Logan Center School and worked in the Logan Workshop Program. He is survived by his three older brothers, Robert G. (Linda) Ditsler of South Bend, Gene L. (Marjorie) Ditsler of Warsaw, OH, and William H. (Linda) Ditsler of Tucson, AZ. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Larry was a 55 - plus - year member of First Christian Church and his beloved Sunday School Class known as "The Fellowship Club." He loved to read and watch his favorite television shows on WSBT - TV. Going to town on the bus was a daily ritual that he enjoyed, rain or shine. His favorite love was Notre Dame football. Larry always claimed to be "Irish" in their honor. There will be no funeral. A church memorial service will be celebrated at a later date. McGann Hay, University Chape,l is handing the cremation arrangements.

Richard M. Villwock
July 20, 1950 – January 22, 2010

South Bend - Richard “Rich” Villwock, 59, passed away January 22, in Hospice House, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 20, 1950 to Herman and Ella Mae Villwock. His father preceded him in death. His mother survives in TX, along with his wife of 30 years, Linda; daughter, Anne - Christine (Bruce) Burgamy of Mishawaka; and two wonderful grandchildren, William and Abigail. Cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
