Paul R. Partridge
Paul R. Partridge, 77, died Sunday Oct. 13, 2002 at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born in Wabash County and retired in 1990 from Slater Steels after 25 years.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II. His wife, Martha, died in 2001.
He is survived by two sons - Dennis and Randy Partridge, both of New Haven, IN; two daughters - Joyce Pickett and Peggy Albertson, both of Fort Wayne; a brother, Robert Partridge of North Manchester; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A son Davey, preceded him in death in 1952.
Funeral service was held Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002 at 11 a.m. at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home of New Haven. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery, Servia.
Preferred memorials are to Cancer Services of Allen County.

Virgil Lamar Schannep
Virgil Lamar Schannep, 90, a resident of Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002 at Peabody Healthcare Center. He was born August 3, 1912 at Whitley County, IN to Oden and Rosa Carr (Shenefield) Schannep. He was a farmer, and married Frances Esther Pence Oct. 7, 1933; she died July 31, 2001.
He is survived by three sons - Wikky Schannep, North Manchester, Mark Schannep, Indianapolis, and Tim Schannep of Chicago, IL; two daughters - Mrs. James (Connie) Vinton, Avon, IN and Mrs. Robert (Darlene) Lane of Ft. Wayne, IN; a brother Herman Patrick Schannep; 11 grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons - Jimmy Joe (1959) and Jerry (1988); and a brother.
Funeral service was held Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002 at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester Chapel with Pastor J. P. Freeman officiating. Burial was in South Whitley Cemetery, South Whitley, IN.
Preferred memorials are to the North Manchester Public Library.

Arelene Miller
Arelene Miller, 58, of 302 W. Fourth St., North Manchester, IN, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002 at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. She was born March 8, 1944 at Aflex, KY to Roland and Mary (Farley) Marcum, both deceased. She was a homemaker, married to Arthur Miller as of Feb. 13, 1968.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Andrew Miller of Huntington; a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Audrey) Queckboener of Leo, IN; four brothers - Eugene (Mary E.) Marcum of Forest Hills, KY, Dale (Darlene) Marcum of Pierceton, IN; Tony and Dana Marcum, both of North Manchester; five sisters - Nancy Marcum of Columbus, OH; Mrs. Willie (Virginia) Justice, Mrs. Bruce (Ruth) McGuire and Mrs. Joseph (Ada) Justice, all of North Manchester; and Mrs. David (Nannie) Jackson of Chandler, AZ; and two grandchildren. One brother and three sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral service was held Monday morning, Oct. 14, 2002 at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester Chapel with Pastor Bill Case officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery of North Manchester. Preferred memorials are to the American Lung Association.

Katina Marie Belcher
Katina Marie Belcher, 29, of 12 N. Long Lane, North Manchester, IN died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002 at her residence. She was born Feb. 22, 1973 at Wabash, IN to John and Rita (Miller) Burnsworth. She married Charles G. Belcher, Jr. in Gatlinburg, TN on Jan. 12, 2000.
She was a member of the New Life Baptist Church in Wabash, and had worked many years at Peabody Retirement Community.
Mrs. Belcher is survived by her husband Charles of North Manchester; a son Michael Monroe of Claypool, IN; a son, Charles G. Belcher, III of North Manchester; her parents, John and Rita Burnsworth of North Manchester; sisters Theresa Compton of Warsaw and Robin Fisher of North Manchester; and a brother John Miller of Lafayette, IN.
Funeral service took place Monday afternoon, Oct. 14, 2002 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Roann Chapel,. Roann, IN with Pastor Steven Parks officiating. Burial was in the Laketon Cemetery, located at Laketon, IN.

Carolyn M. Howard
Carolyn M. Howard, 62, of 9 N. Long Lane, North Manchester, IN, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN. She was born June 23, 1940 to Roy and Pauline (Eby) Stucker, both deceased, and raised by the late Paul Throne.
She was a homemaker, married to Lawrence G. Howard on Dec. 27, 1958. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Manchester. She was a 1957 graduate of Lancaster (IN) High School, and a graduate of Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing.
Survivors include her husband Lawrence; a son Todd L. Howard of McAllen, TX; daughters Mrs. Gary (Toni) Morris of Warsaw and Mrs. David (Tina) Parker of North Manchester; six sisters - Georgiadee Clark, Charlene Walters, Mrs. Brian (Dorene) Smith and Lova Ward, all of North Manchester, Mrs. Thomas (Nadine) Sherer of South Whitley, and Oznola McCullough of Las Vegas, NV; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A brother and a sister preceded her in death.
Funeral service was held Tuesday morning, Oct. 15, 2002 at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary No. Manchester Chapel with Pastors Jeffrey Hawkins and J .P. Freeman officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery located at Servia, IN.

Robert S. Ulrey
Robert S. Ulrey, 84, of Angola, IN for the past five years, coming from North Manchester, IN. He was born Sept. 27, 1918 at Lake Odessa, MI to Daniel and Dessie (Boocher) Ulrey. He married Mary Ann Brodbeck at Angola, IN Sept. 5, 1940.
He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Angola, IN. He had been employed as a lab technician for General Tire in Wabash, IN.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Ulrey of Angola; two sons - Robert J. Ulrey of Harrisburg, PA and Gordon Ulrey of Davis, CA; a daughter, Julie Foland of Angola, IN; a brother, Loyd Ulrey of Holt, MI; a sister, Ruby Porter of New Port Richey, FL; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services and visitation will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by the Weicht Funeral Home of Angola, IN.
Preferred memorials are to Calvary Lutheran Church, 1300 Williams St., Angola, IN 46703.

Harold Lee Forbes
Harold Lee Forbes, 77, of 765 Lafontaine Ave., Wabash, IN died Tuesday, October 8, 2002 at Richard Roudebush V.A. Medical Center of Indianapolis, IN. He was born July 2, 1925 at Wabash County to Henry M. and Marie (Bloxson) Forbes. He married Phyllis Joan Leiter in Wabash on April 6, 1945. He was a self-employed finish carpenter.
Mr. Forbes served in the World War II Marine Corp, was a corporal in the infantry serving in Saipan and Tinean, was wounded and received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Wabash VFW and the Wabash Eagles Lodge. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Wabash; sons Michael J. (Kathleen) Forbes of Rockford, IL and Rex (Joy) Forbes of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Mrs. Bud (Leanne) Voland of Wabash;two grandsons, two granddaughters; three brothers - Norman of Alamo, TX, Junior of Wabash, and Jim of Laketon; a sister, Dorothy Henderson of Wabash, and two great grandchildren. A brother and a sister preceded him in death.
Funeral service was held Friday, Oct. 11, 2002 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Ave. Chapel, Wabash, with Rev. Don Mitchell officiating. Burial was in Falls Cemetery of Wabash.

Infant Kimberly G. Metzger
Kimberly Grace Metzger, six months, of 867W 950N, North Manchester, IN, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002 at Riley Children's Hospital, Indianapolis, IN. She was born April 8, 2002 at Peru, IN to Eric and Rachel (Kuns) Metzger of North Manchester.
In addition to her parents she is survived by a brother, Kyle of North Manchester; and sisters Deanna, Teresa, and Jessica, all of North Manchester. Also paternal grandparents Leon and Agatha Metzger of North Manchester; maternal grandparents Marlin and Janice Kuns of Twelve Mile, IN and maternal great-grandparents, L.D. and Edna Wolf of Logansport, IN.
Funeral service was held Friday morning, Oct. 11, 2002 at the Old German Baptist Church of North Manchester, with Home Brethren officiating. Burial was in the Old German Baptist Cemetery, North Manchester.
DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary North Manchester Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Paul A. Halverson
Paul A. Halverson, 45, of 244 N. Miami St., Wabash, IN died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002 at his residence. He was born Dec. 23, 1956 at Minneapolis, MN to Warren and Mary (Mahoney) Halverson.
He was a 1975 graduate of Wabash High School. He was employed as a construction worker.
Survivors include his mother of Wabash; five brothers - Bill (Jennifer), David, Gary, Jamie and John (Rene) Halverson, all of Wabash; and a sister Mrs. Mike (Colleen) Mitting of Syracuse. A sister preceded him in death.
Funeral service was held Thursday, Oct. 10,. 2002 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Ave. Chapel with Rev. Rick Stone officiating. Burial was in Memorial Lawns Cemetery of Wabash. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Jeffrey James Berry
Jeffrey James Berry, 37, of 334 1/2 Grove St., Sidney, OH 45365-1312, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002 at Miami Valley Hospital of Dayton, OH. He was born at Greencastle, IN Oct. 7, 1965 to the late James Woodward and Marcia Lou (Shuck) Berry.
He is survived by two brothers - Tracy Earl Miskovich of Huntington and Rusty Allen Miskovich of Columbia City; and sisters Tina Ann Layne of Indianapolis, Catherine Onita Wiegand of Plainfield, IN and Jennifer Elaine Phillipee of Sacramento, CA.
Friends may call Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, North Manchester. Funeral service will be at the Bender Chapel Friday morning, 11:00 a.m. with Pastor J. P. Freeman officiating. Burial will take place in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.

Esther Olene Kiefaber
Esther Olene Kiefaber, 91, formerly of 326 E. Hill St., Wabash, IN, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2002 at Life Care Center of Rochester, IN. She was born in White County, IN July 16, 1911 to Sidney and Ethel (Blanton) McCloud. She married Keith Henry Kiefaber in Wabash on Jan. 14, 1931; he died May 13, 1990. She was a 1930 graduate of Wabash High School.
She was a member of Wabash Presbyterian Church, and a 50-year member and past Worthy Matron of the Wabash Order of the Eastern Star, serving as the organist for many years, and was advisor to the Rainbow Girls for many years. She was a charter member of the Wabash Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority.
She worked in the Wabash County Recorder and Wabash County Sheriff's offices many years. During her life she was organist at Wabash Street Methodist Church, and played for Mary Warrington Rohrer's dance classes.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Don (Mary Esther) Brunn of Rochester, IN; three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were six sisters and three brothers.
Friends may call at Grandstaff-Hentgen, 86 E. Main St., Wabash on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002 one hour prior to funeral which will take place at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. John Ritchie and Rev. Pat Reid will officiate, and burial will take place in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery, located at Marion, IN. Preferred memorials are to Wabash Presbyterian Church. The memorial guest book for Mrs. Kiefaber can be signed on-line at grandstaff-hentgen.com.
