Cristan Janae Welch and Clinton James Gottschalk were united in marriage on July 8, 2006 in a double-ring ceremony presided over by the Rev. Kevin Weber of Hays and Rev. Jim Lohmeyer of Eagle, Neb., at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Hays. Parents of the couple are John and Connie Gilzinger and Jim and Shirley Welch of Great Bend and Gene and Kay Gottschalk of Hays. The bride, given in marriage by her brother Jon Welch of Great Bend, wore a two-piece gown featuring a ball-gown skirt with a sheer overlay that swept into a semi-cathedral train. It was embellished with lace medallions and enhanced with pearls. She wore a fingertip-length veil with a tiara. Her cascading bouquet was made of white roses, hydrangea and wistaria. Maid of honor was Rachael Schultz of Hays. Bridesmaids were Jennifer Kaiser, sister of the bride, Jamie Welch, sister-in-law of the bride, both of Great Bend, Jade Parrson of Hays and Holly Gottschalk of Lawrence, sister of the groom. Best man was Aaron Gottschalk of Overland Park, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Chad Stremel and Ryan Staab both of Hays, Scott Schmidt of Manhattan, and Wyatt Grandclair of Hoisington, cousin of the bride. Ushers were Jon Welch of Great Bend, brother of the bride, Brandon Werth of Hutchinson, cousin of the groom, Brett Bittle of Lawrence, and Greg Albright of Hoisington. Flower girl was Anna Gottschalk of Hays, cousin of the groom. Ringbearers were Haven and Kadin Welch of Great Bend, nephews of the bride. Candlelighters were Beth Lohmeyer of Eagle, Neb., godmother of the bride, and Sue Lester of Baldwin City, godmother of the groom. Kay Werth was the pianist and Austin and Preston Werth played cello and violin; all of Hays. Vocalist was Kathy Amrein of Hays. The bride is a 2002 graduate of Great Bend High School. She is attending Fort Hays State University, majoring in office technology where she will graduate in 2007. She is employed part-time at Hamm’s True Value in Hays during the week and a housewife in Lawrence on weekends. The groom is a 2000 graduate of Hays High School. He attended North Central Kansas Technical College, graduating in 2003 with a degree in residential electricity. He also attended Northwestern Kansas Technical College in 2005, obtaining a journeyman’s license in electrical and, in 2006, obtained an associate’s in HVAC-R. He is employed for Lynn Electric in Lawrence.
