Turner - 50th

Mr. and Mrs. Edwin J. Turner will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open reception from 2-4 p.m. on Aug. 30, 2003 at Lawrence Visitors Center, Union Pacific Depot, 402 North Second Street, Lawrence. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. Turner and the former Kathleen McCarty were married on Sept. 13, 1953, at First United Methodist Church of Larned. He served in the Kansas Army National Guard for 31 years and retired after 41 1/2 years as an engineer technician with the Kansas Department of Transportation. She graduated in 1953 from St. Rose School of Nursing of Great Bend and worked for 20 years as a registered nurse in Barton County. The reception will be hosted by their children and families, Pamela Ann and Tom Schneider, and their children, Jeffrey, Jennifer and Joel, of Olmitz; Patrick LaVon and Holly Turner and their children, Mason Webernick and Chelsea of Lawrence and Mary Kathryn and Kary Hurd and their children Abbigail and Kameron of Perry. Wilson - 70th

Tom and Lela Wilson of Great Bend will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on Sept. 2, 2003 with their family. Wilson and the former Lela Parker were married on Sept. 2, 1933, at Trousdale. In 1959 they moved from Trousdale to Pratt where he was manager of R&R Tank Co. for 18 years. In 1977 he became office manager for Southwest Truck in Pratt. He is also a retired farmer from Trousdale. She is a homemaker. The family joining them for the celebration will be their daughter, Donna Thill of Great Bend; grandchildren and greatgrandchildren Kristie Thill and John Horner, David and wife, Shellie and Ashlie, Emilie and Thomas Thill, all of Great Bend, and Michelle and Sean Doll of Fort Collins, Colo. Cards of congratulations may be sent to them at 1017 Harding, Great Bend KS 67530.

Stieben - 60th

Lester and Velma Stieben of Otis will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Aug. 29, 2003 with a family dinner. Stieben and the former Velma Miller were married Aug. 29, 1943, at the Methodist Church parsonage in Otis. Residing all of their married life in Otis, the Stiebens are part owners and managers of Stieben’s Service. Mrs. Stieben is also a homemaker. The couple has two children, Kenneth and Wanda Stieben, and Linda Stieben, all of Otis. They have two grandchildren, Robin and Devin Schloemer of Great Bend, and Tiffany Stieben of Hays. They also have one great-great-grandchild, Darian Schloemer of Great Bend.
