Clara and Lorenzo Lemuz - 55th

Lorenzo and Clara Lemuz of Topeka celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on Jan. 31, 2003.

They were married on Jan. 31, 1948, in Topeka.

Their daughter is Alice Escalante of Topeka. Their son, Al Lemuz, died on Feb. 8, 1998.

The couple have five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Lemuz retired from Santa Fe Railway after 42 years of service.

He also worked for 30 years as a projectionist in Topeka theaters and drive-in theaters, where Mrs. Lemuz managed the concession stands.

The couple formerly were also part owners of the Kozy Kitchen restaurant in Topeka.

Roberta and LeRoy Miller - 60th

LeRoy and Roberta Miller of Wamego observed their 60th wedding anniversary Jan. 29, 2003.

LeRoy Miller and Roberta Hutchinson were married Jan. 29, 1943, at the Methodist Church parsonage in Wamego.

Their children and spouses are Judy Scammon, Prairie Village; Jan and Jack Crocker, Topeka; and Jerry and Peggy Miller, Wamego.

The Millers are retired from farming and live in Wamego.

Ambrose and Mary Ann Schmitz - 50th

Ambrose and Mary Ann Schmitz of Baileyville will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary as guests of honor at a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 16, 2003 at Valentino's in Seneca.

Mary Ann Boeckman and Ambrose Schmitz were married Feb. 14, 1953, at St. Bede's Catholic Church in Kelly.

Hosts will be their six children and spouses, Jody and Steve Niehues, Topeka; Grace and Alan Knott, Omaha, Neb.; Leonard Schmitz, Baileyville; Monica and Lenny Marousek, Omaha, Neb.; Armella and Steve Tangeman, Olathe; and Mary Ellen Conroy, Topeka.

The couple have 11 grandchildren.

Mr. Schmitz is a farmer.

Mrs. Schmitz works part-time at Country View Estates Nursing Home in Seneca.

She was featured as Cook of the Week in The Topeka Capital-Journal in December 2000.
