Irvin E. White
Irvin E. White, 80, of Hutchinson, died Jan. 21, 2000, at Hutchinson Hospital.

He was born Jan. 12, 1920, at Hutchinson, the son of Isaac Calvin and Lillian Mangum White. A Hutchinson resident since 1995, moving from Brighton, Colo., he was a retired industrial painter.

He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2841, Brighton, Colo., and Painters Union Local No. 79, Denver. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

In 1950, he married Beulah Miller at Fort Morgan, Colo. She died in August 1993. On March 15, 1996, he married Beatrice K. Martin O'Dell at Hutchinson. She survives.

Other survivors include: a stepson, Shad O'Dell, North Carolina; a stepdaughter, Nancy Boone, North Carolina; three step-grandchildren; a step great-grandchild; a nephew; and a niece.

No services will be held. Cremation has taken place.

Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, Hutchinson, is in charge of arrangements.

Alta V. Hammar
Alta V. Hammar, 94, of Hutchinson, died Jan. 22, 2000, at Golden Plains Health Care Center, Hutchinson.

She was born Aug. 12, 1905, at Hutchinson, the daughter of Jesse Walter and Ollie Mae Bird Swafford. A lifelong Hutchinson resident, she was a homemaker and a former employee of Dillon Mercantile. She was a 1924 graduate of Hutchinson High School.

She was a charter member of Peniel Church of the Nazarene and taught the Juniors class at the church for 33 years.

On Nov. 6, 1928, she married Elza E. Hammar at Hutchinson. He died Nov. 23, 1984.

Survivors include: a daughter and son-in-law, Mildred and Curtis Goering, Pretty Prairie; a brother and sister-in-law, William and Christine Swafford, Hutchinson; a sister-in-law, Margaret Swafford, Lawrence; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Swafford.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Peniel Church of the Nazarene, Hutchinson, with the Revs. Paul Danner and Lester Zook presiding. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Eastside cemetery, Hutchinson.

Memorials may be sent to Peniel Church of the Nazarene, in care of Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, Hutchinson.

Merna F. Story
Merna F. Story, 72, of Hutchinson, died Jan. 16, 2000, at her home.

She was born May 2, 1927, at Hutchinson, the daughter of Charles Arthur and Valeda Fern Sims Aldrich. A lifetime Hutchinson resident, she was a homemaker.

She belonged to Westside Baptist Church, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, and was a volunteer for the Salvation Army and the Delos V. Smith Senior Center, all at Hutchinson.

On Dec. 25, 1947, she married Donald E. Story at Hutchinson. He died May 31, 1996.

Survivors include: three sons, Larry and James, both of Hutchinson, and Thomas Clark, Wichita; three daughters, Sonya Dove and Cindy Jayne, both of Hutchinson, and Patricia Patrick, Kiowa; a sister, Sue Hartman; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter; and a brother, Norman.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with Eldon Smith presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.

Memorials may be sent to the Merna F. Story Memorial Fund, in care of the mortuary.

Nellie Fae Lemmon
Nellie Fae Lemmon, 83, of Hutchinson, died Jan. 16, 2000, at Hutchinson Hospital.

She was born July 10, 1916, at Moline, the daughter of Huey R. and Francie Mae Long Green. A Hutchinson resident since 1944, she was a homemaker and secretary, and had taught in rural Greeley County.

She belonged to First Presbyterian Church, Hutchinson, and was a member and past president of the Kansas State China Painters Association.

On May 5, 1942, she married Henry B. Lemmon at Hebron, Neb. He died July 4, 1984.

Survivors include: a daughter, Bequetta Sue Lemmon, Hutchinson; and two sisters, Eunice Jackson, Oregon, and Suela Quance, Dighton.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Frank; and two sisters, Delpha Sparn and Beulah Lambert.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. William T. Soule presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery, Hutchinson.

Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Reno County, in care of the mortuary.

Emma Sophia Tonn
Emma Sophia Tonn, 84, of Hutchinson, died Jan. 17, 2000, at Hutchinson Hospital.

She was born Feb. 6, 1915, at Bluff City, the daughter of Conrad and Sophia Brase Scheel. She was a graduate of Bluff City High School. A longtime Hutchinson resident, she was a homemaker.

She belonged to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hutchinson.

On Dec. 5, 1937, she married Gilbert C. Tonn at Bluff City. He survives.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Phyllis Mentgen, Manhattan, Valetta Snell, Fairfield, Ohio, and Lanora Waggoner, Hutchinson; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Ray; a brother; and three sisters.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Thomas B. Mendenhall presiding. Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, and 9 a.m. to noon Friday, all at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Church cemetery, Haven.

Memorials may be sent to the Lutheran Hour, to the church, or to the donor's choice, all in care of the mortuary.

Michael `Willie' Williamson
Michael "Willie" Williamson, 45, of Hutchinson, died Jan. 17, 2000.

He was born July 28, 1954, at Kingman, the son of William and Kathryn Sims Williamson. He graduated from Plainville High School in 1973, attended Hutchinson Community College and Southwest Missouri State, Joplin, Mo. A Hutchinson resident for 25 years, moving from Plainville, he worked as a bricklayer for M.L. Nevius Builders Inc. and Gardner Masonry.

He belonged to Plainville Christian Church.

On Aug. 6, 1977, he married Marcy K. Allen at Coldwater. She survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Josh and Bret, both of the home.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Church of the Nazarene, Hutchinson, with the Revs. R. Kendall Franklin and Brian Smith presiding. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, Hutchinson. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Crown Hill cemetery, Coldwater.

Memorials may be sent to First Church of the Nazarene or the Buhler High School Booster Club, both in care of the funeral home.
