LARNED - Clarence A. Kirby, 84, died Jan. 30 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita. He was born Dec. 14, 1916, in Osborne, the son of William E. and Mary Frances Snyder Kirby. He married Mable M. Herman May 4, 1941, in Kanopolis. A resident of Larned since 1958, moving to Salina in 2000, he was a retired teacher and principal for USD 495 in Larned. Kirby was a member of Assembly of God Church and a past member of Fort Larned Lions Club, both of Larned. Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Alberta Fitzpatrick of Salina and Clara Schraeder of Larned; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Melvin Kirby; five sisters, Chloe Kirby, Cora Kirby, Nora Kirby, Frances Kirby and a twin, Clara Kirby; and one stepsister, Edna Burgess. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Morell Funeral Home in Larned with the Rev. Richard Martin officiating. Burial will be at the Larned cemetery. Friends may call until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Elmer E. Erb 1916-2001
BAZINE - Elmer E. Erb, 84, died Feb. 2 at his home in Bazine. He was born Dec. 23, 1916, on the family farm south of Bazine, the son of Fred and Elizabeth Gross Erb. He married Verna Reinhardt-Timken July 8, 1943, in Bazine. She died March 14, 1988. A lifetime resident of the Bazine area, he was a mechanic and repairman. Survivors include four sons, Stan Erb and Brad Erb, both of Bazine, Rod Erb of Ransom and Jeff Erb of Dighton; one daughter, Peggy Huxman of Arnold; four brothers, Leo R. Erb and Earl P. Erb, both of Bazine, Fred L. Erb of Ness City and Richard E. Erb of Marshfield, Mo.; nine sisters, Marjorie B. Schaben of Sterling, Jeannene Hamilton and Geraldine Floyd, both of Marshfield, Evelyn Pitzer, Grace M. Risley and Jeannice Posey, all of Hutchinson, Norma J. Jansen of San Diego, Calif., Leona K. Cheney of Hoisington and Shirley A. Erb of Mesa, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one stepson, Wendell A. Timken; and one brother, Pearl E. Erb. Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church in Bazine with the Rev. Buzz Lambrecht officiating. Burial will be at Bazine cemetery with military rites by Olin Cole American Legion Post 392. Friends may call until 9 tonight and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, both at Fitzgerald Funeral Home in Ness City, and from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church, Golden Years Senior Citizen's Club of Bazine or Olin Cole American Legion Post 392, all in care of the funeral home.

Theodore 'Jay' Zimmerman 1932-2001
Theodore "Jay" Zimmerman, 68, died Feb. 2 at Stafford District Hospital. He was born Nov. 23, 1932, in Towanda, the son of Theodore and Irene Waterman Zimmerman. He married Marilyn L. Stoskopf Feb. 17, 1952, in Hoisington. A longtime resident of Great Bend, he was a retired truckdriver for Jamar Transportation Inc. Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Debbie Zimmerman of Arlington and Brenda Zimmerman of Dodge City; one brother, Robert Zimmerman of Ellinwood; one sister, Wilma Dannebohm of Ellinwood; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Greg Zimmerman. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington with the Rev. Dick Ogle officiating. Burial will be at Hoisington cemetery. Friends may call until 8 tonight and from 9 a.m. to service time Monday, both at the funeral home. Louis Vernon Holmes 1912-2001
Louis Vernon Holmes, 88, died Feb. 3 at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Rose Campus in Great Bend. He was born July 3, 1912, at Great Bend, the son of Oscar Pearl and Rosa Gruber Holmes. He married Emelia "Millie" Wittman Aug. 16, 1954, at Great Bend. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, he was a retired assistant fire chief of Great Bend Fire Department. Holmes was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Elks Lodge and Masonic Blue Lodge, all of Great Bend. Survivors include his wife of the home. He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Holmes and Lawrence Holmes. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Shannon Tiller officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend cemetery. Friends may call from 1-9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, both at Bryant-Christians Funeral Home in Great Bend, and from 9:30 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the church. Laveta Louise Rounsavell 1919-2001
Laveta Louise Rounsavell, 81, of Great Bend 81 died Feb. 3 at Catholic Care Center in Wichita. She was born April 18, 1919, in Henryetta, Okla., the daughter of Rellie Alvin and Pairlee J. Hill Kramer. She married Seward L. Marsh Aug. 8, 1936, in Coats. He died June 6, 1982. She married Leo Rounsavell April 25, 1987, in Great Bend. A resident of Wichita for five years, coming from Great Bend, she was a homemaker, owner of the Artisian Theater and M and M Sundry store in Fowler. She was a member of First Christian Church, Elks Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, all of Great Bend, and the Rebekah Lodge of Fowler. Survivors include three sons, Emerson Marsh of Peoria, Ariz., Kenton Marsh and Dennis Marsh, both of Sun City; two daughters, Denise Kyte of Cimarron and Rhonda Peake of Wichita; two brothers, Chris Kramer of Abilene and Marlin Kramer of Geneseo; one sister, Juanita Gerber of Fort Collins, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Shogrin. Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at First Christian Church in Medicine Lodge with the Rev. Tom Walters officiating. Vincent K. Goerl 1914-2001
LITTLE RIVER - Vincent K. Goerl, 86, died Feb. 3 at Hutchinson Hospital. He was born Aug. 3, 1914, in Little River, the son of John George and Eleanor Florence Allen Goerl. He graduated from Little River High School in 1932. He married Virgie M. Dressel Aug. 1, 1948, in Lyons. A resident of Hutchinson, coming from Little River, he was a farmer. Goerl was member of the United Methodist Church, Methodist Men, lay leader to the Methodist Church, board member of Mutual Telephone Company for 34 years, former school board member and 4-H leader for Rose Bud 4-H Club, all of Little River. Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Vernon Goerl of Hutchinson and Vaughn Goerl of Great Bend; two daughters, Vincette Goerl of Alexandra and Virginia Valarie Besperat of Timken; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Edsel A. Goerl and one sister, Eleanor L. Goerl. Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church in Little River with the Rev. Grant Davis officiating. Friends may call until 7 tonight at Sillin Funeral Home in Lyons. Burial will be at Fairlawn cemetery in Hutchinson. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. today at the funeral home. Clara Karst Eacret 1916-2001
RUSSELL - Clara Karst Eacret, 84, died Feb. 2 at St. John's of Victoria Nursing Facility. She was born Oct. 10, 1916, in Russell, the daughter of Jacob J. and Mollie Keil Karst. She married Charles Eacret June 17, 1952. He died July 23, 1994. A resident of Russell, she was a waitress for many years. Survivors include two sons, Don Parker and Dean Parker, both of Arab, Ala.; one brother, Herbert Karst of Newton; four sisters, Martha Brack, Elsie Brack, Elma Morgenstern and Esther Scheuerman, all of Russell; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pohlman's Mortuary in Russell with the Rev. Keith Kreitzer officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials are suggested to St. John's of Victoria Nursing Facility, in care of the mortuary.

Vivian I. Mostrom 1919-2001
GARFIELD - Vivian I. Mostrom, 81, died Feb. 4, at Village On Lee retirement community in Lawton, Okla. She was born Nov. 13, 1919, in Garfield, the daughter of William Wheeler and Elizabeth Sharon Wynn McDowell. She attended school in Garfield. She attended Emporia State Teacher's College for two years. She married Albert Carl Mostrom, Jr. March 27, 1948, in Denver, Colo. He died Sept. 24, 1995. A resident of Garfield, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Mostrom was a member of the Retired Widows Association in Lawton and attended Fort Sill Old Post Chapel. Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Lyn Underhill of Indianapolis, Ind. and Sharman Wyn Harrison of Lawton; four grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Wesley William McDowell. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel in Larned with Nancy Mitchell officiating. Burial will be at the Garfield cemetery. Friends may call until 8 tonight and until service time Wednesday, at the mortuary.

Lydia Bender 1920-2001
RUSSELL - Lydia Bender, 80, died Feb. 3 at Russell Regional Hospital. She was born Feb. 29, 1920, at Fort Morgan, Colo., the daughter of Jacob and Anna Marie Kahler Greenwald. She married Leo Bender Oct. 3, 1941, in Gering, Neb. He died Oct. 26, 1972. A longtime resident of Russell, she was a homemaker and a domestic. Mrs. Bender was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Russell, Extension Homemakers Unit and Grey Ladies at Russel Hospital, both of Russell. Survivors include two sons, Leo Bender of Great Bend and John Bender of Virginia Beach, Va.; two daughters, Linda Casper of Russell and Louanna Hanes of Otis; two sisters, Caroline Johnstdon of Pittsburg, Pa., and Esther Ekstien of Eureka, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and four gret-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Pohlman's Memorial Chapel in Russell with the Rev. Henry Hartman officiating. Sara Aileen Korf 1921-2001
HANSTON - Sara Aileen Korf, 80, died Feb. 4 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. She was born Jan. 6, 1921, in Hodgeman County, the daughter of Leslie and Elsie Henry Koontz. She married Vernon C. Korf July 29, 1943, in Hutchinson. He died Feb. 17, 1985. A lifetime resident of Hanston, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Korf was a member of United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Senior Citizen Center, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Library Association and the City Librarian for the Hanston City Library, all of Hanston. Survivors include four sons, Gary Korf, Daryl Korf and Darren Korf, all of Hanston, and Galen Korf of Hays; three daughters, JoAnn Hubin of Hanston, Joyce Noland of Chinle, Ariz. and Gloria Bowersox of Olathe; one brother, Loren Koontz of Hanston; three sisters, Elva Fox of Peoria, Ariz., Muriel Otis of Salina and Ruth Cadwallader of Pendleton, S.C.; 20 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Cleland Koontz and Paul Koontz; three sisters, Iris Stambaugh, Clarice Miller and Alta Lee White. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church in Hanston with the Rev. Mitch Reece officiating. Burial will be at Hanston Cemtery. Mary Agnes Lang-Wagner 1928-2001
ELLIS - Mary Agnes Lang-Wagner, 72, died Feb. 3 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita. She was born May 23, 1928, in Hays, the daughter of Ignatz and Regina Schoenberger Seidel. She was a 1946 graduate of Ellis High School. She married Joe G. Lang June 4, 1946, in Ellis. He died Oct. 20, 1987. She married Paul Wagner March 22, 1990, in Ellis. Mrs. Lang-Wagner was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ellis, Daughters of Isabella, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Sunflower Polka Club, Eagles Auxiliary of Hays and the Bukovina Society of the Americas. Survivors include her husband of the home; six sons, Gerald Lang of Durham, N.H., Dr. Robert Lang of Bedford, Ind., Ernest Lang of Douglas, Wyo., Edward Al Lang of Sycamore, Ill., Brian Lang of Ness City and Clyde Lang of Ellis; four daughters, JoAnn Hohman of Wakefield, Marilyn Stueve of Olpe, Donna Scarbrough of Austin, Texas and Velma Jackman of Ronake, Texas; three step-children Dwayne Wagner of Great Bend, Ellen Prescott of Manhattan and Brenda Horton of Lindale, Texas; half-brother, Terry Barber of Great Bend; half-sister, Donna Ryder of Burrton; 27 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four step-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, James Lang and one sister, Shirley Ann Seidel. Eagles Auxiliary rosary will be at 4:30 today, followed by a parish rosary at 7 tonight, both at Wasinger Funeral Chapel in Ellis. Richard O. Boehlke 1912-2001
HANSTON - Richard O. Boehlke, 88, died Feb. 5 at Edwards County Hospital in Kinsley. He was born Oct. 5, 1912, in Blue Hill, Neb., the son of Henry and Anna Witthuhn Boehlke. He married Estelle Pauline Winget Nov. 26, 1938, in Winget. She died Oct. 16, 1996. A longtime resident of the Hanston, Burdett and Baxine area, he was a farmer. Boehlke was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Bazine and Hanston Senior Center. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Hanston with the Rev. Gary Winget officiating. Burial will be at the Browns Grove cemetery in Burdett. NATOMA - Elsie H. Eulert, 94, died Feb. 5 at Main Street Manor in Russell. She was born March 27, 1906, in York, S.D., the daughter of Jacob and Ida Keihl Reich. She married Otto C. Eulert Dec. 17, 1925, in WaKeeney. He died March 5, 1983. A resident of Russell since 1998, coming from the Fairport area, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Eulert was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and the Ladies Guild of the Church at Natoma. Survivors include three sons, Lewis Eulert and Harold Eulert, both of Paradise and Donald Eulert of San Ysabel, Calif.; four daughers, Irene Schmidtberger of Corpus Christi, Texas, Eleanor Laubhan and Joyce Gillett, both of Russell and Lynda Koelling of Alton; one brother, Ed Reich of Aurora, Calif.; two sisters, Irma Saum of Salina and Louise Pettle of Gypsum; one step brother, Walter "Bill" Eulert of Russell; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Jacob Reich, Carl Reich and Otto Reich; and three sisters, Minnie Pesicka, Anna Paulson and Ida Palmer. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the church in Natoma with the Rev. L. J. McDermont officiating. Burial will be at Peace Lutheran cemetery in Natoma. Lawrence Raymond Miller 1919-2001
LUBBOCK, Texas - Lawrence Raymond Miller, 82, died Feb. 5 at Veterans Administration Hospital in Amarillo, Texas. He was born May 28, 1919, at Great Bend, the son of Frank Joseph and Sophia Oberle Miller. He married Dortha Helen Moses May 16, 1943, in Pomona, Calif. A resident of Lubbock for more than 20 years, coming from Bushton, Cimarron and Pomona, he was a retired custom carpet sculpturer. Miller was a member of Catholic Church of Lubbock. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Daniel Miller of Ensign, Robert Miller and Steven Miller, both of Lubbock; one daughter, Donna Hessman of Hutchinson; one sister, Regina Sauber of Ellinwood; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death one brother, Joseph Miller; one sister, Cecilia Miller; and one grandson, Daniel. Rosary will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Kimple Funeral Chapel in Ellinwood. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Steven Scheier officiating. Burial will be at Holy Name Catholic cemetery near Bushton.
