Marguerite Boese, 93, of Great Bend, died May 17 at Integrated Health Services in Great Bend. She was born Jan. 22, 1908, in Dundee, the daughter of Henry B. and Kate Jantz Unruh. She married Louis S. Boese Oct. 24, 1926, in Pawnee Rock. He died Dec. 19, 1977. A resident of Great Bend, coming from Dundee, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Boese was a member of Bergthal Mennonite Church in Pawnee Rock. Survivors include two daughters, Twila Bedford of Lehigh and Genevieve Lyon of Newton; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Boese; four brothers, Ted Unruh, Alfred Unruh, Elmer Unruh and David Unruh; three sisters, Goldie Bowman, Adena Schultz and Victoria Unruh; and several half brothers and half sisters. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Muriel T. Stackley officiating. Burial will be at Dundee Valley cemetery in Dundee. Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 1-9 p.m. Sunday, all at Bryant-Christians Funeral Home in Great Bend. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the funeral home.

Murval L. Hejny 1923-2001
Murval L. Hejny, 78, of Great Bend, died May 17 at Columbia Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was born April 27, 1923, in Otis, the son of Charles B. And Anastazie Novotny Hejny. He married Louise Schmid Sept. 10, 1947, in Olmitz. A resident of Great Bend, coming from Otis, he was a farmer. Hejny was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, both of Olmitz, St. Patrick Catholic Church and Fraternal Order of Eagles, both of Great Bend, and Central Kansas Association for the Visually Impaired. Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Donna Urban of Ellinwood and Norma Kraisinger of Otis; two sisters, Blanch Rea of Highlandville, Mo., and Pearl Rein of Glendora, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Wake service will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary, both at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Ann Catholic Church with the Revs. Ultan Murphy and Warren Stecklein officiating. Burial will be at St. Ann cemetery in Olmitz. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Saturday and from 1-9 p.m. Sunday, both at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Ann Catholic Church, St. Patrick School Endowment Fund or Central Kansas Association for the Visually Impaired, all in care of the funeral home.

Roy Joseph Hollembeak 1921-2001
Roy Joseph Hollembeak, 80, of Great Bend, died May 17 at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Rose Campus in Great Bend. He was born March 10, 1921, at Hannibal, Mo., the son of Elmo Abram and Lucy Grove Hollembeak. He married Twylah Ann Schmidt on Dec. 24, 1949, at Council Grove. A resident of Great Bend since 1949 coming from Arkansas City, he was an educator in Great Bend schools. Hollembeak was a member of Central Baptist Church, a life member of the National Education Association and had been a Boy Scout leader. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Bruce T. Hollembeak of Wichita and Hal J. Hollembeak of Great Bend; one daughter, Paula A. Laudick of Broomfield, Colo.; three brothers, Jack W. Hollembeak of Odessa, Texas, Jerry E. Hollembeak of Lenexa and Ted J. Hollembeak of Emporia; one sister, Jaunques F. Rogers of Tyler, Texas; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Hal D. Hollembeak; and one sister, Arline Hollembeak. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church in Great Bend with the Rev. Dr. Gordan E. Rhodes officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Great Bend. Friends may call from 1-9 p.m. today and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday at BryantChristians Funeral Home in Great Bend, and from noon until service time Tuesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Fund or the church, both in care of the funeral home.

Arlie Virginia Freed 1921-2001
DERBY - Arlie Virginia Freed, 79, died May 17 at Westview Manor in Derby. She was born Dec. 23, 1921, at Fairbury, Neb., the daughter of Harry and Fuchia Lena Seacord Hatfield. She was retired from Baxter Travenol Laboratory. Survivors include four sons; Donald R. Freed of Russell, Ronald L. Freed and Timothy G. Freed both of Moscow, and Kenneth J. Freed of Otis; one daughter, Phyllis Freeman of Derby; one brother, Jack Hatfield of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Watson Funeral Home in Wichita. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Russell cemetery in Russell. Memorials are suggested the Arlie Virginia Hatfield Freed memorial at Westview Manor, in care of the funeral home.

Carolyn Rowena Bridenstine 1916-2001
STILLWATER, Okla. - Carolyn Rowena Bridenstine, 85, died May 15 at Edina, Minn. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Friends Chapel Church. Burial will be at Oak Grove cemetery in Coyle, Okla. Henry V. Laudick 1904-2001
HOISINGTON - Henry V. Laudick, 96, died May 19 at Central Kansas Medical Center, St. Rose Campus in Great Bend. He was born May 27, 1904, at rural Claflin, the son of Henry and Martha Redetzke Laudick. He married Stella Miller Sept. 24, 1924, at Hoisington. She died March 4, 1983. A resident of Hoisington since 1976, coming from a farm near Boyd, he was a Farmer Mutual Insurance agent for 65 years and a farmer. Laudick was a member of St. John Evangelist Catholic Church and was a fourthdegree knight of the Knights of Columbus, both of Hoisington, Elks BPO Lodge 1127 and Fraternal Order of the Eagles, both of Great Bend, and was active in the Eureka Homesteaders 4-H Club. Survivors include one son; Gary Laudick of Rogersville, Mo., three daughters; Merna Williamson of Hoisington, Vada Stafford of Wichita and Glenna Sheets of Saginaw Mich.; 10 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Bill Laudick, Joe Laudick, Earl Laudick and John Laudick; two sisters, Mary Durand and Theresa Laudick; and one granddaughter. Vigil will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home of Hoisington, followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church in Hoisington with the Rev. Pascal Klein officiating. Burial will be at St. John cemetery in Hoisington. Friends may call from 1-9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the cemetery, in care of the funeral home.

Marjorie J. Daniels 1903-2001
WICHITA - Marjorie J. Daniels, 97, died May 18 at her residence in Wichita. She married Carl Daniels. He preceded her in death. A resident of Wichita, she was a retired Sedgwick County nurse. Survivors include two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Gretchen Dorr. Rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Old Mission Mortuary in Wichita. Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Friends may call from 1-5 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to All Saints Catholic Church, in care of the mortuary.

Aaron Ketcher Hartness 1913-2001
BARTLESVILLE, Okla. - Aaron Ketcher Hartness, 88, died May 19 at Barlesville Care Center. He was born Feb. 5, 1913, in Younker, Okla., the son of Elige and Susie Ketcher Hartness. He married Emma Ellen Root July 7, 1943, in Chase. She died Aug. 19, 1995. He married Darlene Mae Gilbert Towns May 16, 2000. A resident of Bartlesville, coming from Pawhuska, Okla., and Hoisington, he was a painting contractor. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, Mark K. Hartness of Andover; two daughters, Karen S. Ware of Satanta and Marilyn R. Klassen of Dodge City; three sisters, Emma Campbell, Opal Teshoney and Phillis Pfeifer, all of Bartlesville; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd Hartness and Wilbur Hartness. Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Great Bend cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Doyle Smith officiating. Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, all at BryantChristians Funeral Home in Great Bend. Memorials are suggested to hospice of Great Bend or Hospice of Bartlesville, both in care of the funeral home.

Jane Tompkins 1925-2001
SANTA ANA, Calif. - Jane Tompkins, 75, died May 16. She was born Oct. 26, 1925, in St. John. She married Ray Tompkins. A resident of Santa Ana, coming from Great Bend where she lived from 1949-54, she was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband of the home; three daughters; one sister, Verla Estes of St. John; and three grandchildren. Funeral was today at Waverly Church in Santa Ana. Burial will be at Fairhaven Memorial Park and Mortuary in Santa Ana.

Dorothy M. Rupp 1927-2001
HOISINGTON - Dorothy M. Rupp, 74, died May 21 at the Hoisington Rehabilitation Center. She was born Jan. 27, 1927, in Comfrey, Minn., the daughter of Carl A. and Clara Lehning Engel. She married Robert A. Rupp Jan. 12, 1957, in Springfield, Minn. A resident of Hoisington, she was a certified nurses aid at Clara Barton Hospital and the Hoisington Rehabilitation Center, both of Hoisington. Mrs. Rupp was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Altar Society, both of Hoisington. Survivors include her husband of the home; and one sister, Ethel Jennigus of Springfield. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Engel and Arthur Engel; and one sister, Della Meyers. Vigil and altar society rosaries will be at 7 tonight at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church with the Rev. Pascal Klein officiating. Burial will be at St. John cemetery in Hoisington. Friends may call until 9 tonight and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday, all at the funeral home. Alice Britton 1920-2001
MULVANE - Alice Britton, 81, died May 20 at her home in Mulvane. She was born Jan. 10, 1920, in Wichita, the daughter of Frank and Hazel Davis Young. She married Clifford Britton Oct. 7, 1937. He died. A resident of Mulvane, she was a retired employee of USD 263. Survivors include four sons, James L. Britton of Great Bend, Dale L. Britton of Moore, Okla., Frank W. Britton of Ponca City, Okla., and Mark A. Britton of Derby; two daughters, Sally A. Teter of Goldsmith, Ind., and Hazel L. Wessels of Mulvane; two sisters, Virginia Crist and Mary Brucker, both of McPherson; 17 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Mulvane. Burial will be at Mulvane cemetery. There is no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the church or Hospice Inc, both in care of Senter-Smith Mortuary in Mulvane.

Howard L. Ruble 1921-2001
HOISINGTON - Howard L. Ruble, 79, died May 21 at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. He was born Aug. 9, 1921, in Hoisington, the son of William Monroe and Blanche Grace Clift Ruble. He married Jean Cook April 23, 1947, in Hoisington. A lifelong resident of Hoisington, he was a retired operator of Cook Well Service of Hoisington. Ruble was a member of First United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 331 A.F. and A.M. and a life member of Veterans of Foreign War Post 7428, all of Hoisington. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 89th Division, OSS 101 Association in China, India and Burma. Survivors include his wife of the home; and one brother, Ed Ruble of Hoisington. He was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Jean Byers. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hoisington cemetery with the Rev. Wayne Flanders officiating. Friends may call until 9 tonight at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington. Memorials are suggested to the church or American Heart Association, both in care of the funeral home.

Ann B. Dizmang 1921-2001
SALINA - Ann B. Dizmang, 79, died May 21 at Salina Regional Health Center. She was born July 15, 1921, near Olmitz. She married Jimmy Dizmang. He died in 1998. A resident of Salina for 37 years, coming from Holyrood, she was a ward clerk at Asbury Hospital in Salina. Mrs. Dizmang was a member of the Holyrood Guild. Survivors include one daughter, Gloria Dizmang of Palmdale, Calif. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel Mortuary in Salina with the Rev. Bharat Surender officiating. Entombment will be at Mausoleum Williamsburg at Roselawn Memorial Park cemetery in Salina. Friends may call until 6 tonight and from 10 a.m. until service time, all at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to Salina Regional Health Center or Horace Greeley County Museum, both in care of the mortuary.

Ruth Brough 1908-2001
Ruth Brough, 92, of Great Bend, died May 20 at Integrated Health Services in Great Bend. She was born July 19, 1908, in Neodesha, the daughter of Lemuel and Lucy Mable Mikesell Morrison. She married Otto Karl Bayer March 4, 1928, in Great Bend. He died in 1960. She married Leroy Brough Nov. 25, 1945, in Great Bend. He died Sept. 15, 1978. A resident of Great Bend since the age of the 3, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Brough was a member of First Christian Church, taught Sunday School and was secretary for the church board, all in Great Bend. She was a member of Retired Federal Employees, Republican National Organization, Birthday Club and WCTU. Survivors include one daughter, Doris Ann White of Great Bend; one brother, John Rex Morrison of Van Cover, Wash.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Carl Leon Bayer and Teddy Rex Bayer; one stepson, James W. Brough; one stepdaughter, Carley Meier; one brother, Paul Morrison; one sister, Beatrice Morrison; and one step-granddaughter, Diane Meier. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church with the Revs. Bill Johnson and David Hartsell officiating. Burial will be at Great Bend cemetery. Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. Monday at Great Bend Family Mortuary and from noon until service time Tuesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the church or Sunflower Diversified Services, both in care of the mortuary.
