LaVern Robinson
BAZINE - LaVern Robinson, 76, died May 25, 2000, at Ness County Hospital.
He was born June 10, 1923, at rural Ness City, the son of Lynn and Florence Murdock Robinson. He was a 1942 graduate of Ness City High School. He was a retired farmer and stockman.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
On July 9, 1956, he married Dee Cunningham at Hays. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sisters, Tharon Bussinger, Oklahoma City, and Ruth Smith, Midwest City, Okla.; and many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and Raymond.
Graveside service will be at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in Ness City Cemetery, with the Rev. Doug Hasty presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Monday, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, all at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City.
Memorials may be sent to the Ness County Bank Building Foundation or to a charity of the donor's choice, both in care of the funeral home.

Ralph Robert Schlicht
PRAIRIE VILLAGE - Ralph Robert Schlicht, 79, died May 25, 2000, at his home.
He was born Feb. 20, 1921, at Claflin, the son of Robert G. and Charlotte Reiff Schlicht. He retired from Butler Manufacturing Co., in 1985 as director of economic intelligence.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1945.
On Feb. 28, 1942, he married Jewell Mae Butler at Claflin. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Gregory D., Prairie Village, and Mark Robert, Carthage, Mo.; and two grandchildren.
Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Prairie Village. The family will receive friends after the service in fellowship hall of the church. Inurnment will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Claflin Cemetery. The family will receive friends after the inurnment at the church, Claflin. Kansas City Funeral Directors, Kansas City, Kan., is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society or to the church.

Donald 'Donnie' R. Spicer
KIOWA - Donald "Donnie" R. Spicer, 79, died May 26, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital, Enid, Okla.
He was born July 11, 1920, north of Hazelton, the son of Joseph Clyde Lynn "J.C.L." and Ella Reynolds Spicer. He was a 1938 graduate of Hazelton High School. A lifetime Kiowa and Hazelton area resident, he was a farmer and stockman.
He belonged to the United Methodist Church, was a 32nd degree Mason, belonged to the Cosmos Lodge No. 278, Order of the Eastern Star, Cattleman's Association and Cowboy Stories.
On Dec. 14, 1941, he married Rose M. Diel at Wichita. She survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Donna Rose Secrest, Phoenix, and Brenda Odell, Enid; three sisters, Margaret Kollins, Sun Lakes, Ariz., Verda Diel, Kiowa, and Lavonne Bredehoft, Maple Valley, Wash.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Harold.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church, Kiowa, with the Rev. Bill Dyar presiding. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today and from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday at Fisher Funeral Home, Kiowa. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hazelton.
Memorials may be sent to Southwind Hospice, the church or the donor's choice, all in care of the funeral home.

Fern Harper
ARGONIA - Fern Harper, 88, died May 25, 2000, at Conway Springs.
She was born June 3, 1911, south of Milan, the daughter of Daniel and Violet Conn Pearce. She was a homemaker.
She belonged to Argonia United Methodist Church.
On Sept. 10, 1938, she married Miller Harper. He died May 15, 1987.
Survivors include: three brothers, Dale and Argus Pearce, both of Argonia, and Joe Glenn Pearce, Wichita; and a sister, Ruth Mahlenbruch, Wichita.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Forrest Pearce; and two sisters, Fay Pearce and Alethea Handy.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Argonia United Methodist Church. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Argonia Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to the church in care of Williams Funeral Home, Anthony.

Helen Zink
ELLINWOOD - Helen Zink, 79, died May 26, 2000, at Ellinwood District Hospital Long Term Care.
She was born Jan. 28, 1921, at rural Ellinwood, the daughter of Louis J. and Katherine Robl Hickel. A lifetime resident of Barton and Rice counties, living in Ellinwood since 1991, she was a farm wife.
She belonged to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Altar Society, Funeral Choir, was a church Sacristan and belonged to the Heritage Club, all at Ellinwood, and was a longtime former member of Holy Name Parish, Bushton.
On April 21, 1947, she married Louis Zink at rural Ellinwood. He died Jan. 30, 1979.
Survivors include: three sons, David, Great Bend, and Dennis and Joseph L., both of Bushton; two daughters, Kathy Massoth, Cimarron, and Julie Spence, Wichita; two brothers, Art and Joe Hickel, both of Ellinwood; a sister, Dorothy Christoph, Lenexa; and 16 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Martin; and two sisters, Louise Doll and LaVonne Graves.
Altar Society rosary will be at 3 p.m. today, with a parish rosary at 7:30 p.m., both at Kimple Funeral Home, Ellinwood. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Ellinwood, with Father James Roth presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Holy Name Catholic Church Cemetery, Bushton.
Memorials may be sent to Relay for Life, in care of the funeral home.

Milford E. Weishaar
ARGONIA - Milford E. Weishaar, 70, died May 26, 2000, at his home in Argonia.
He was born Feb. 26, 1930, at rural Argonia, the son of Elmer Frederick and Edith Fitts Weishaar. He graduated from Argonia High School in 1947 and attended Emporia State Teachers College. A lifetime Argonia resident, he was a farmer and retired in 1994 from Cessna Aircraft, Wichita, where he had been a tool and die engineer and supervisor and taught classes.
He belonged to Wellington Baptist Temple and had been a scout leader for the Argonia Boy Scouts.
On Oct. 2, 1949, he married Anna Marie Herring at Wichita. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Jim, Olathe; four daughters, Vicki Prather, Seneca, S.C., Terri Falke, Nickerson, Nancy Stephens, Atwood, and Jill Kinyon, Missoula, Mont.; four brothers, Edward and Lloyd, both of Argonia, Orwin, Douglas, and Charles, Peidmont; 18 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Wellington Baptist Temple, with Pastor Robert Haas presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hawks Funeral Home, Wellington. The casket will remain closed. Burial will be in Milan Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to Wellington Baptist Temple or Hospice Inc. Contributions may be left at the church.

Betty Jane LaCore
SHARON - Betty Jane LaCore, 58, died May 26, 2000, at her home in Sharon.
She was born April 2, 1942, at Utica, the daughter of Charles and Neva F. Donovan Dallan. A Sharon resident since 1971, moving from Sun City, she was a homemaker and was a clerk at Hern's Grocery Store, Sharon.
She belonged to St. Boniface Catholic Church, the Altar Society, the Women's Monday Night Bowling Team and the Sunday Night Mixed Doubles, and was co-director of CCD at the church.
On June 24, 1959, she married Orville A. LaCore at Sun City. He survives.
Other survivors include: four daughters, Donna J. Renner, Cunningham, and Toni L. Rucker, Tammy S. LaCore and Julie A. Hern, all of Sharon; two brothers, Robert M. Dallan, Omaha, Neb., and Charles T. Dallan, Houston; five sisters, Judy Bagby, Sublette, Ginger Cantrell, Moscow, Barbara Gadbury, Holton, and Debbie Settlemeyer and Cheri Dallan, both of Hugoton; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Tony David Dallan.
Altar Society rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. today, followed by a vigil at 7 p.m., both at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Sharon. Funeral Mass will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the church, with Father Anthony Suellentrop presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. today at Larrison-Forsyth Funeral home, Medicine Lodge, and after 4 p.m. today at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A memorial has been established in her name at Peoples Bank, Sharon. Contributions may be made in care of the funeral home.

Ralph Lawrence 'Sam' Young
NESS CITY - Ralph Lawrence "Sam" Young, 96, died May 25, 2000, at Hays Medical Center, St. Anthony's Campus.
He was born March 22, 1904, at Alexander, the son of Aaron H. and Lena Winkleman Young. He graduated from Alexander High School, received a bachelor's degree from the University of Arkansas, and attended Washburn School of Law, Topeka. A Ness City resident, formerly of Alexander, Larned and La Crosse, he was an attorney.
He belonged to the Kansas Bar Association, the Fort Hays State Alumni Association and the Washburn Alumni Association.
On June 10, 1934, he married Ada Andrews. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include: eight nieces.
Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in LaCrosse Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, and prior to the graveside service Thursday in the cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to Fort Hays State or Washburn University, both in care of the funeral home.
