Lawrence A. Treder
McPHERSON - Lawrence A. "Larry" Treder, 80, died Dec. 16, 2004, at The Cedars Health Care Center, McPherson.

He was born Nov. 20, 1924, at Milwaukee, the son of Joseph and Frances Waranka Treder. He graduated from Messmer High School, Milwaukee, in 1942, and he earned a bachelor's degree in business from McPherson College. A McPherson resident since 1975, moving from St. Louis, he worked as an insurance salesman and financial planner in the Wichita and McPherson areas.

He belonged to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, McPherson.

He served in the U.S. Army as corporal in World War II and as a master sergeant in the Korean conflict.

On Dec. 31, 1944, he married Loraine E. Nelson at McPherson. She survives, McPherson.

Other survivors include: a son, Mark, Marquette; five daughters, Ann Robinson, Florissant, Mo., Laura Treder, Kansas City, Mo., Mary Winsky, Moundridge, Jane Behrend and Joan O'Neal, both of Evans, Ga.; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Elroy and Edward; a sister, Grace Skalitzky; and a granddaughter.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, McPherson, with Father Paul Oborny presiding. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m., with vigil at 7 p.m. at Glidden-Ediger Chapel, McPherson. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to Central Hospice of Newton or to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, in care of the funeral home.

Bernadine M. Rohar
STAFFORD - Bernadine M. Rohar, 88, died Dec. 17, 2004, at Stafford District Hospital.

She was born Nov. 23, 1916, at St. Mark's, the daughter of Martin and Anna Seiler Peitz. A Stafford resident since 1940, she was a homemaker and assisted her husband with Rohar Custom Harvesting.

She belonged to St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, where she was also the last charter member, and to the Altar Society.

On Jan. 28, 1935, she married Steve A. Rohar at Garden City. He died Aug. 18, 1985.

Survivors include: three daughters, Roberta Strunk, and husband Louis, Colwich, Karon Rohar, Lakewood, Colo., and Sharon Rohar, Stafford; a daughter-in-law, Dianne Rohar, Stafford; a brother, Cecil Peitz, Clearwater; 17 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Larry; six brothers, Francis, Adolph, Harold, Clem, Virgil and Jerome; and a sister, Josephine.

Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Minnis Chapel, Stafford. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, with Father Rene Guesnier presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday at the chapel. Burial will be in Stafford Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to the church or to Stafford District Hospital, both in care of the chapel.

John R. Fellers
HUGOTON - John R. Fellers, 84, died Dec. 17, 2004, at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home, Hugoton.

He was born Jan. 12, 1920, the son of Floyd R. and Mary M. Morris Fellers at Kismet, moving to Stevens County, in 1945. He was a farmer.

He belonged to the Baptist Church, Kismet, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Hugoton, and Disabled American Veterans.

On Nov. 14, 1965, he married Betty Jean Poteet at Moscow. She survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Randy Owens, Belton, Mo., Mike Owens, Moscow; a daughter, Joyce Fellers, Winfield; two sisters, Ruby Lewis, Liberal; Mary Lewis, Kismet; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers and a sister.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Moscow Baptist Church, Moscow; with Pastor Larry Bradford presiding. Military graveside services will be in the Moscow Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be sent to the Moscow Baptist Church, in care of Paul's Funeral Home, Hugoton.

Robert L. Mangels
ROLLA - Robert Lee Mangels, 76, died Dec. 16, 2004, at his home, Rolla.

He was born May 24, 1928, at Rolla, the son of Eli Richard and Bertha Katherina Nusser Mangels. A lifetime resident, he worked in maintenance for the U.S. Bureau of Mines, Keys, Okla., and Rolla Senior Center, delivering meals.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.

Survivors include: a sister, Loeta Ann Thomas, Dodge City; several nephews and nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Keith; three sisters, Pauline Brown, Esther Harford and Helen Katherine Mangels; and a niece.

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. in Rolla Cemetery, with Pastor John Jordan presiding. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Paul's Funeral Home, Hugoton.

Memorials may be sent to Victory in the Valley, Wichita, in care of the funeral home.

Marilyn M. Suffield
PEABODY - Marilyn M. Suffield, 52, died Dec. 16, 2004, at Peabody.

She was born June 18, 1952, at Pittsburg, the daughter of Henry and Isabella Graham Bezdek. A resident of Peabody moving from Hillsboro, she was a homemaker and CNA.

She married Tom Titius. He preceded her in death. On Jan. 26, 2001, she married Dale Suffield. He survives.

Other survivors include: a son, David Estey, Tennessee; three brothers, Harold Bezdek, Hillsboro, Derald Bezdek, Wichita, and Ronald Bezdek, Abilene; a sister, Mary Bartel, Hillsboro; and a grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a son, Tom Titius Jr., and a sister, Kathryn Hydman.

Graveside service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday in Marion Cemetery, Marion, with Pastor Larry King presiding.

Memorials may be sent to Good News Fellowship Church, in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion.

Carol JoAnn Bozarth
WICHITA - Carol JoAnn Bozarth, 58, died Sept. 24, 2004, at her home, Wichita.

She was born May 8, 1946, at Yakima, Wash. A six-year resident of Wichita, formerly of Laverne, Okla., she was a homemaker.

On Aug. 11, 1963, she married Auto Francis Bozarth at Beaver County, Okla. He survives, Wichita.

Other survivors include: a son; three daughters, including Cheryl Cross and Lynn, Elmwood, Okla.; six stepbrothers, including Jerald, Curtis and Carl Laverty, all of Laverne, Okla., and Alvie Laverty, Gate, Okla.; two stepsisters; 11 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Apostolic Faith Church, Laverne, Okla., with the Revs. Bob Taylor and Russell Laverty presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at Myatt-Seeger Funeral Home, Laverne. Burial will be in Bozarth Cemetery, west of Laverne.

Donna Marie Randel
OSBORNE - Donna Marie Randel, 77, died Sept. 24, 2004, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

She was born Nov. 25, 1926, at Moline, Ill., the daughter of J. Ben and Lulu Irene Voss Jessen. A resident of Osborne for three years, moving from Bison, she was a teacher at Bison High School.

She belonged to United Methodist Church, Bison.

On June 25, 1947, she married Ira Frank Randel at Kansas City, Mo. He died Jan. 4, 1992.

Survivors include: a son, Dana, Osborne; a daughter, Kris Randel Waldren, Larned; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Jessen.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lone Star Cemetery, rural Bison.

Memorials may be sent to the Donna Marie Randel Memorial Fund, Baker University, in care of the funeral home.

Benny Cherry
MOUNDRIDGE - Benny Cherry, 72, died Sept. 24, 2004, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

He was born Oct. 8, 1931, at Yukon, Okla., the son of Walter and Cleta Smith Cherry. A 48-year resident of Moundridge, he was a fabrication operator at Hay and Forage, Hesston.

He belonged to Moundridge United Methodist Church.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.

On Aug. 7, 1954, he married Doris E. Koch at Newton. She survives at Moundridge.

Other survivors include: three sons, Robert W., Stanley D. and Ricky S., all of Moundridge; two daughters, Phyllis Leppke, Norman, Okla., and Karen Schowalter, Wichita; four brothers, Kenneth, Yukon, Okla., Donald and Wendell, both of Mustang, Okla., and Lynn, Oklahoma City; eight sisters, Clara Koch, Marilyn Talbott and Wanda Koch, all of Oklahoma City, Rue Neis, Yukon, Okla., Glenda Ramsey, Shawnee, Okla., Betty Ross, Mustang, Okla., Shiela Anderson, Bethany, Okla., and Carol Wymore, Lenexa; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church, with Pastor Jeanine Rishel presiding. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at Moundridge Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mound Township Cemetery, Moundridge.

Joe L. Wright
ELLSWORTH - Joe Lee Wright, 73, died Oct. 29, 2004, at his home, rural Ellsworth, from complications of cancer.

He was born Sept. 10, 1931, at Ellsworth, the son of Joe B. and Olga Black Wright. A lifetime resident of the Ellsworth area, he retired from American Salt Plant, Lyons, and also worked as a farmer, stockman and cowboy.

He belonged to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ellsworth.

On April 27, 1952, he married Ona Bender at Ellsworth. She survives, Ellsworth.

Other survivors include: three sons, Jason, Richland, Mo., Joe L., Ellsworth, and Jon, Lincoln; seven daughters, Jennifer Bates, Lucas, Joleen Dobrinski, Omaha, Neb., J. Leslie Perkins, Great Bend, Jana Arensman, Kanopolis, Judith Reilly, Overland Park, Jeanette Kratzer, Geneseo, and Julie Wright, Ellsworth; a sister, Dolores Shively, Kanopolis; 23 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Joe Lee Jr.; a brother, Harold Wright; and a sister, Gilda Shuck.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ellsworth, with Pastor Philip Hoppe presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth, and 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Ellsworth Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to the church or Ellsworth County Historical Society Terra Cotta Depot, all in care of the funeral home.
