Casondra Mullins

Casondra Marie Mullins, 27, of Frankfort, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center, Frankfort.

She was born October 11, 1987, in Pikeville, the daughter of Sheri Nicole Mullins of Frankfort, and the late Kenneth Hal Honaker.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a maternal grandfather, Herbert Newland; a paternal grandfather, Nathan Steele and a sister, Kenee’ Elaine Mullins Clark.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by a son, Isaiah DeShaun Mullins of Frankfort; two sisters, Kendra Mae (Nicholas) Carroll of Georgetown and Kenna Elizabeth Jade Honaker of Pikeville; maternal grandparents, Loretta Mullins Smith and Michael Smith of Pikeville; and paternal grandmother, Fannie Mae Pennington of Pikeville.

Funeral services will be held at noon, Monday, September 28, 2015, at J.W. Call Funeral Home Chapel, wtih Steve Peake officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Memorial Park, Pikeville.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the direction of J.W. Call Funeral Home.

Greyson Owens

Greyson Lee Owens, infant son of John and Brittany Owens of Canada, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by three of his grandparents, Jeanette & Roy Owens and Steve Hall.,

Greyson is survived by his parents as well as two brothers, Peyton and Eric Owens, and his maternal grandmother, Debbie Lowe.

He will be sadly missed by his loving family.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday September 26, 2015, at the Varney Branch Cemetery, with Donnie Harris officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Thacker Memorial Funeral Home of Pikeville.

Jerry Branham

Jerry Jonas Branham, 71, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, at St. Joseph of London Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, in the Corbin Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Branham Cemetery, Rockholds. Arrangements are under direction of Corbin Funeral Home of Corbin.

Devin Burke

Devin Burke, 23, of Bevinsville, died Saturday, Sept.d 19, 2015, at McDowell Appalachian Regional Hospital, McDowell.

He was born July 22, 1992, the son of Raymond and Jerri Ann Burke.

He worked as a coal miner for Red Hawk Mining.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Garfield and Alpha Burke; and his maternal grandfather; Jerry Tackett.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Ashley Hale Burke; his maternal grandmother, Maureen Tackett of Wheelwright; and one sister; Mackenzie LaShae Burke.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, in the Hall & Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Bethel Bolen officiating. Burial followed in the D.R. Burke Cemetery, Bevinsville. Arrangements were under direction of Hall & Jones Funeral Home of Virgie.

Pallbearers were Wesley Tackett, Matthew Tackett, Chris Tackett, Nick Tackett, Nathan Tackett, Tyler Hall, Alex Johnson, Jordan Dunn, Keifer Horn, Mason Branham, Cameron Johnson, Patrick Burke and Roger Dean Burke.

Honorary pallbearers were Eddie Tackett, Barry Tackett, Ralph Martin, Steve Jensen, James Hall, Curtis Hall, Roger Burke, Cody Blackburn, Wade Damron, Zach Goble and Danny Ray Hall.

Clyde Coleman

Clyde Coleman, 63, of Dwale, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, at Highland Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg.

He was born in Pike County, Sept. 21, 1952, the son of the late George W. Coleman and Caroline Cercers Coleman.

He was a coal miner and of the Old Regular Baptist faith.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Earl Coleman.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Thacker Coleman; two sons, Clyde Coleman Jr. (Sheree) of Lexington and Kelly Bryan Coleman (Kathy) of Louisville; five brothers, Buster Coleman, Harold Coleman, Maynard Coleman and Clarence Coleman, all of Kimper, and Lewis Coleman of Tennessee; seven sisters, Helen Campbell of Alabama, Judy Taylor of Chicago, Frona Williams of London, Sandra McCoy of Pikeville and Brenda Williams, Alice Ward and Elaine Coleman, all of Kimper; and one grandchild, Brooks Warren Coleman.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, in the Cedar Bottom Old Regular Baptist Church with Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Cleveland Thacker Memorial Cemetery, Meathouse of Kimper. Arrangements are under direction of Community Funeral Home of Zebulon.

Visitation is after 6 p.m. Thursday with special services at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday.

Roby Derossett

Roby Louis Derossett, 90, of Pikeville, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, at Pikeville Medical Center.

He was born in Prestonsburg, Dec. 24, 1924, the son of the late Sol D. Derossett Sr. and Fannie Francis Derossett.

He owned and operated Derossett Meat Co. and was a member of Thomas C. Cecil Lodge #375 F&AM.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Sol D. Derossett Jr. and Reynold Derossett; and two sisters, Lillis Jansen and Ella Rose Archer.

He is survived by his wife, Fern Edmonds Derossett; one son, Roby Lewis Derossett of Gainesville, Fla.; and his best friend, Adam Estep of Pikeville.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, in the J.W. Call Funeral Home Chapel with John Lucas officiating. Masonic rites will be held before the service. Arrangements are under direction of J.W. Call Funeral Home of Pikeville.

Kenenna Mullins

Kenenna Alekanonea Mullins, 43, of Lick Creek, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, at Regina.

She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, May 6, 1972, the daughter of Gregory Lee Whitetree and Alice Faye Manion Whitetree of Elkhorn City.

She was a lab technician at Pikeville Medical Center and a member of Hellier Missionary Baptist Church.

Besides her parents, she is survived by her husband, James Christopher Mullins; one son, Christopher Ryan Mullins of Lick Creek; one daughter, Hannah Marie Mullins of Lick Creek; and one brother, Gregory Whitetree II of Elkhorn City.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, in the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Randy Bentley officiating. Entombment will follow at Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, Va. Arrangements are under direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Elkhorn City.

Special services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday.

Travis Thompson

Travis Thompson, 68, of Pikeville, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, at Pikeville Medical Center.

He was born at Brushy/Varney, June 7, 1947, the son of the late James Andy and O’Dessie “Dessie” Ray Thompson.

He was a devoted husband, father, and Christian, serving for over 20 years at First Baptist Church of Pikeville as a deacon. He also taught Sunday school and was Sunday school director.

He graduated from Johns Creek High School, where he met his wife Maudie Lowe. They were married for 46 years. Travis graduated from Pikeville College with a degree in business education. He taught school for three years, then went into coal mining, working for Pontiki Mine Corporation as a mine foreman, and worked as a supervisor at Mountain Comprehensive.

Travis also served as a Gideon, and held many leadership roles with the local Gideons organization. Travis had a passion for following Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and lived his faith as a testament to his family, co-workers, and friends. Travis was an avid fisherman, camper and bowler, and shared these with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Travis Thompson is survived by his son, James Travis Thompson (Megan) of Lexington; his daughter, Audra Thompson Bevins (William) of Kingsport, Tenn.; his three sisters, Sandra Thompson of Texas, Patricia Webb of Horse Cave, and Terresia Blackburn of Pikeville; and his seven grandchildren, Daniel Travis Bevins, Laken Kolby Bevins, Holly Kamryn Bevins, Eli Graeme Thompson, Samuel McIntyre Thompson, Aiden Russell Thompson and Avery Ryan Thompson.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the J.W. Call & Son Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Bent Ridge Cemetery, Meta. Arrangements are under direction of J.W. Call & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.

Pallbearers will be Mike Justice, David Schackelford, Michael Lowe, John George Blackburn, Matthew Blackburn, John Blackburn, Zack Howell, and David Bentley.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Pikeville Gideons, P.O. Box 523, Pikeville, KY 41502.

Harold Wolford

Harold Dean Wolford, 51, of Homestead, Fla., died Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, at Jackson South Community Hospital, Miami, Fla.

He was born March 26, 1964, the son of Charlie “Poke” Wolford and Julie Wolford.

Harold grew up in Phelps, moving to Homestead 23 years ago, where he worked as a contractor. He loved his family dearly, including his dogs, and was so proud of his daughter Emily’s accomplishments.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, cherished friend and brother. He touched the hearts of many and was a true blessing to all who knew him.

Harold is survived by his wife of 27 years, Valerie Wolford; one daughter, Emily Wolford of Homestead; three brothers, Opie Wolford (Tammy), Ballard Wolford and Andy Wolford (Kathy), all of Phelps; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Branam Funeral Home in Homestead.
