Kenneth Edward Grey
SFC (Ret) Kenneth Edward "Ed" Grey, 68 of Elizabethtown, died Sunday, May 9, 2010 at his home. He was a native of Vine Grove and a member of College Heights United Methodist Church. He retired from the U. S. Army and was the recipient of the Bronze Star and Air Medal. He was a lifetime member of the DAV, lifetime trustee of NCOA and a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonel. He was preceded in death by his parents, J. Earl and Marie Faughn Grey and a brother, Robert E. Gray. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barbara "Bobbye" Talley Grey; two sons, Kenneth E. (Vonetta) Grey, Jr. and Michael A. Grey all of Elizabethtown; three daughters, Tammy L. (Gordon) Burba and Robin D. (Matt) Music all of Elizabethtown and Vicki S. (Russell) Van Camp of Zellwood, FL; one brother, Roy L. Gray of Winter Park, FL; 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. The funeral will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at College Heights United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow in KY Veterans cemetery Central in Radcliff. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home and continue after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Church.

Brenda Kay Goodman Thomason
Brenda Kay Goodman Thomason, 66, on this day of our Lord, May 5, 2010 has passed on to be with our Lord and Savior. She passed away with her family by her side. Kay was a faithful member of the Elizabethtown Church of Christ, where she devoted her life and soul to our Lord. She was a native of Hart County and retired from Kroger after 30 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; Imon and Delzie Lasley Goodman; and one brother, Ralph W. Goodman. She is survived by two sons; Jeffrey L. Allen of Elizabethtown and Gary D. Allen of Nevada; two brothers, Howard (Margaret) Goodman and Royce (Jean) Goodman; seven nephews; three grandchildren; and a very loving church family. There will be a memorial service Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Elizabethtown Church of Christ. Visitation with the family will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.

William Carlton Hunter
William C. "Billy" Hunter, 49 of Elizabethtown, died Sunday, May 9, 2010. He was a native of Hardin County and a Desert Storm Veteran. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Gail Voight; his father, George William Hunter; a son, Matthew Dillon Hunter and a niece, Kelly Marie Graham. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Hunter; two sons, Travis and Jacob Hunter; a step son, Garyth Sandfer; his sisters, Debra (Dowell) Adkins of Vine Grove, Judy (Tom) Mooney of Connecticut and Denise (Roy) Hawkins of Radcliff and a multitude of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A graveside service will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at KY Veterans cemetery Central in Radcliff with Rev. Charles Hinckley officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 12 noon Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed online at www.brownfuneral.com. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of Contributions to the Billy Hunter Memorial Fund at Chase Bank to help with funeral expenses.

Marion Hugh "Sonny" Starks
Marion Hugh "Sonny" Starks, 73 of Louisville, formerly of Elizabethtown, died Sunday, May 9, 2010 at Golden Living Center in Louisville. He was a native of Hardin County and a member of First Baptist Church. He was formerly employed at Addie S. French and owned a moving and hauling business. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert "Bill" Starks and Genevieve Handley Green and a daughter, Charlotte Louise Starks. He was survived by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Warren Starks of Louisville; one daughter, Sandra (Andre) Starks Stone of Louisville; two brothers, Thomas Gaither and James Robert Gaither both of Ft. Wayne, IN; one sister, Emma Jean Headspeth of Radcliff and several nieces, nephews and friends. The funeral will be Saturday at 12 noon at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. A. B. Wiley officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Union Baptist Church cemetery in Green County. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Geneva Coogle
Geneva Coogle, 88 of Eastview, died Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at her home. She was a native of Hardin County and retired from Phillip Morris. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patsy Louise Cundiff Barker; her parents, Turner and Disa Dennis Coogle and a brother, Michael Coogle. She is survived by one son, Warren Rudolph (Nancy) Cornelius of Eastview; one brother, Chester Coogle of Louisville; one sister, Pansy Hockenberry of Louisville; two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and four step great grandchildren. The funeral will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

James Carl Shanks, Sr.
James Carl "JC" Shanks, Sr., went home to his Lord on the 10th of May, 2010, surrounded by his family at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. JC was born in Graham, KY on May 31, 1935 and was of the Baptist faith and a member of Rineyville Baptist Church. He was a 1953 graduate of Rineyville High School. His first job was driving a Jolly Boy ice cream truck, followed by fourteen years at the Ft. Knox Post Exchange as a Bookkeeper and Assistant Manager. He then drove a delivery route for Bond, Tastee, Sunbeam, Butternut and Rainbo Bread for 30 1/2 years. He was an avid motorcyclist and his pride and joy was his wife, children, grandchildren and his 1998 95th anniversary Harley Davidson heritage springer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walton and Christine Shanks and two sisters, Dorothy Buck and Joan Clater. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Maxine Dile Shanks; four children, Vicky (Donnie) Fox, Jimmy, Danny and Carolyn; three grandchildren, Tracy Ann, Keaton and Tyler; two brothers, Forrest and Walton, Jr. (Mae) Shanks and sisters, Linda Snyder, Judith Asbury and Janet Armstrong and a host of friends and Harley buddies. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Shirley Ann Davidson
Shirley Ann Davidson, 73 of Elizabethtown, died Friday, January 8, 2010 at her home. She was a native of Hardin County and a member of Stithton Baptist Church. She graduated from E'town Community College School of Nursing in 1970. She worked at Ireland Army Hospital, the VA Hospital in New Haven, CT and Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health in E'town. She was above all a wife, mom and granny. She was preceded in death by her father, Elmer L. Hargan. She is survived by her husband, Jay P. Davidson; two sons, Matthew (Joyce) Davidson of Ozark, AL and Jeffrey (Shannon) Davidson of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA; two daughters, Sarah A. Moore of Alpharetta, GA and Cindy Bomar of Elizabethtown; her mother, Edna Mae Leonard Hargan of Elizabethtown; seven granddaughters and one great granddaughter. A Memorial service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Waggoner officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and continue after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A Memorial service will also be held at The Healing Place/Women and Children's facility, 1503 South 15th Street in Louisville at 2 p.m. on Friday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of Contributions to The Healing Place, 1020 West Market Street, Louisville, KY 40202.

Harley C. "Jeff" Jeffries
Harley C. "Jeff" Jeffries, 78, of Elizabethtown, died Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Sonora and a Korean War Army veteran. He was a member of American Legion Post #113 and was past Commander. He was retired from civil service having worked at Ft. Knox and Lexington Bluegrass Army Depot for 27 years. He also loved fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harley Lee and Berita Amos Jeffries, by a daughter Kelly Lynn Jeffries, and by two brothers, Bobby Lee Jeffries and Douglas "Jeff" Jeffries. He is survived by his wife Annette Hager Jeffries, two sons, Larry (Kate) Jeffries of New Mexico and Mark (Gena) Jeffries of New Haven, two daughters Teri (Steve) Budde of Texas and Kim (Doug) McAfee of Campbellsville, one sister, Betty Jean Willison of Calif., 6 grandchildren, Josh Landis, Skylar Jeffries, Marcus Jeffries, Lindsey Budde, Jeffrie Budde and Aravis Kurtiz and two great grandchildren, Tiegan and Damian Kurtiz. A Memorial service will be Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Barbara Sue Blair
Barbara Sue Blair, 65 of Elizabethtown, died Thursday, January 7, 2010 at her home. She was a native of Barren County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Spencer and Angie Dennison Johnson and a sister, Veronica Mae Wisneski. She is survived by one son, Todd Carroll of Elizabethtown; three daughters, Tina (James) Jones of Killeen, TX, Rhonda Smith of Elizabethtown and Tammy Fannin of Sandy Hook, KY; one brother, Joe Watts of Elizabethtown; one sister, Emily (Michael) Atcher of Lawrenceburg and five grandchildren. The funeral will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Hill officiating. Burial will follow in East Rhudes Creek cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
