Manuel Irizarry
Manuel DeJesus Irizarry, 59, of Cecilia, died Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at his residence surrounded by family and friends. He was a native of Puerto Rico, a Vietnam veteran and retired from the Kentucky State Police in July 2005. He was preceded in death by his parents Pascual and Francisca Mendez Irizarry. He is survived by his wife of 8 1/2 yrs Linda Kaye Sullivan Irizarry, one son Dustin Powell of Cecilia, three daughters, Mylene Hartman (Thomas) of Mannheim, Germany, Lissette Weston of Elizabethtown and Gabrielle Powell of Cecilia, one brother, Pascual A. Irizarry of Pennsauken, NJ, four sisters, Maria DelCarmen Irizarry of Titusville, FL, Maria Virginia Irizarry of Puerto Rico, Carmen Enid Gomez of Camden, NJ and Lourdes Lizzette Irizarry of Philadelphia, PA and five grandchildren. The funeral for Mr. Irizarry is at 12 noon on Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home with Chaplain James Hodge officiating. Visitation will be Sunday November 21st from 6p.m until 8p.m, Monday the 22nd from 9 a.m until 8p.m and after 9 on Tuesday the 23rd. Expressions of sympathy may go to Gideons International.

Philip L. Taul
Philip Lyons Taul, 83, of Cecilia, died Friday, August 12, 2011 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was born in McQuady, Breckinridge County, the son of Patrick and Pearl (Lyons) Taul, who preceded him in death. He graduated from Breckinridge County High School and Trade School in Louisville. He has diligently served his Lord Jesus Christ by serving Cecilia Baptist Church as a deacon for 47 years. In 1957, he married Joann (Moore) of Hardinsburg and they have three children. Philip was one of the charter members of the Cecilia Ruritan Club and he served the Habitat for Humanity in Hardin County for many years. He received many awards in his farming career including the Hardin County Conservation Award and in 1960 he received the Outstanding Young Farmer award. He served his country in the Korean War and purchased a dairy farm in Cecilia in 1960. In 1966, he founded Taul Equipment Inc., a farm equipment business. He also received many awards in his farm equipment business including the Badger Northland Outstanding Dealer of the Year in 1980 in addition to many top dealer awards from other equipment manufacturers throughout the years. In 1993 he and his wife and children opened Three T Food Mart in Cecilia. Phil loved refurbishing antique Oliver tractors, fishing, traveling and he was very passionate about spending time with his family. Phil leaves his beloved wife of 54 years, Joann; his son Keith and his wife Megan (McCarrell) of Cecilia; his daughter; Phylis Pendleton and her husband Jeff of Versailles, KY; and his son David and his wife Monica (Lewis) of Cecilia. He is also survived by his sister Helen Murrell of Louisville; his brother Maurice of McQuady, his brother Ralph and his wife Mary Catherine of McQuady. He also leaves a brother-in-law; Bobby Moore of Elizabethtown, thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Cecilia Baptist Church with Rev.Erdie Carter and Rev. Arnold Moon officiating. Burial will be in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Brown Funeral Home and after 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Expressions of sympathy may go to Cecilia Baptist Church, the Cecilia Community Ruritan Club or Hardin County Habitat for Humanity.

Roberta Ann "Bobbi Ann" Thomas
Roberta Ann "Bobbi Ann" Thomas, 81, of Elizabethtown, died Monday August 8, 2011, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. Member of First Christian Church and Upper Room Sunday School Class. She was a volunteer for the nursery and shepherding program for several years. Retired from Modern Welding Co. after 20 years. Volunteered at Woodland Terrace Nursing Home Worship Program and was a member of United Homemaker for several years. She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence D. Hawkins and her mother, Helen Hawkins Eckler; an infant son, Michael Childers and granddaughter Laura Childers Helm; and a son-in-law, Roy Brawner. She is survived by her loving husband of 20 years Carlyle Thomas. Her three daughters, April Brawner of East View, Robin Kerrick of Bowling Green, and Lisa (Jere Dee) Hopson of Franklin ; stepdaughter Carla (Thomas) Davis of Elizabethtown and a step-son Michael Thomas; four grandsons, Todd Thiel, Justin (Shannon) Childers, Michael (Ashley) Kerrick, Connor Hopson and step-grandson Kyle Thomas; two granddaughters, Angie (Bryan) Nusky and Sydney Hopson and two step-granddaughters Madalyn Davis and Courtney Thomas and several great-grandchildren. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Kiger officiating. Burial will follow at Elizabethtown City cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and continue after 12 noon Thursday. In lieu of flowers, donations to First Christian Chruch Building Fund.

Edward William Fritz
Edward William Fritz, 80, of Elizabethtown, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2011 at Hardin Memorial Hopstial. Mr. Fritz was a retired Major in the US Army and a Vietnam War Veteran. He served as a pilot with 1st Air Calvary Division. He is survived by his sister, Lois Blum of California and a brother, Don Fritz of Iowa. He is also survived by his four children, Mark Anthony Fritz of Paducah, Diana Lynne Moore of Scottsdale, AZ, Bruce Edward Fritz of Elizabethtown, and Geoffrey Sean Fritz of Bardstown, and four grandchildren, Allison Stepenoff, Kristen Fritz, Madison Fritz, and Kenleigh Fritz. At the request of Mr. Fritz, there will be no memorial or funeral service. He will be buried in Deloit, Iowa. Any memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in his name. Brown Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn Woodring
Evelyn Ford Woodring, 90 of Cecilia, passed away at Hardin Memorial Hospital Sunday, October 30, 2011. She was a native of Breckinridge County and was a 50+ year member of the Eastern Star. She was a member of Blue Ball Baptist Church and attended Rough Creek Baptist Church. She was a Kentucky Colonel and she and her first husband ran a local grocery store for 13 years. She was employed at E'town Sportswear, retired from Roses Department Store and later at the age of 65, retired from the Whistle Stop in Glendale. She traveled with Linis for several years to many areas including Niagara Falls. She loved to quilt, embroidery, crochet and was very loved by family and neighbors and will be missed by many. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Earnest "Teen" Ford and George Woodring; her parents, C.D. and Nannie Wallace Powell; a brother, Kenneth Powell; a niece, Sandra Jo Powell and a grandson, Harold Dale Ford. She is survived by a son, Harold Eugene (Mae Fern) Ford of Cecilia; a daughter, Jewell Leverne (Narvin) Whitworth of Hudson; one granddaughter, Carla (Doug) Peters; three grandsons, Terry (Marian) Whitworth, Ernie (Wilma) Ford and Michael (Cathy) Whitworth; two great granddaughters, Ashley (Jon) McKina and Mattie Rose Whitworth; four great grandsons, Justin Ford, Brian Whitworth, Zach Peters and Isaac Peters; one great great granddaughter, Sharridan McKina; one great great grandson, Braxton Ford; one step son, David(Judy) Woodring; three step daughters, Vivian (Franklin) Ford, Susan (Jim) Dayberry and Robbie Wuokko; 11 step grandchildren and 10 step great grandchildren. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. John R. Clark and Rev. Douglas Peters officiating. Burial will follow in Howevalley cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and continue after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. There will be an Eastern Star service at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Rose Marie Powell
Rose Marie Powell, 92, of Elizabethtown, died Tuesday October 25, 2011 at Elizabethtown Nursing and Rehab. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Powell; and her parents, Frank and Isabella Tallerico Rigger. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Ann Johnson of Elizabethtown; four grandchildren, Gary (Pam) Johnson of Elizabethtown, Bro. Larry (Devine) Shaffer of the Phillipines, Tiffany Britton of Akron, OH and Jeff Shaffer; twelve great-grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren; along with her caregiver Clarence Sams of Elizabethtown. The funeral will be 12 noon Saturday at Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Shaffer officiating. Burial will follow at Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Stephanie Denise Goodin Miller
Stephanie Denise Goodin Miller, 29, of Fisherville, formerly of Elizabethtown, lost her hard fought battle with brain cancer, Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at her residence. She was a native of Hardin County and a member of Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a 2000 graduate of Central Hardin High School, a 2004 graduate of U of L, and a Letter winner. She was a loving wife, daughter and sister. She is survived by her husband Brad Miller, whom she married September 25, 2010; her parents, Richard E. and Gail Sparks Goodin, Sr. of Elizabethtown; two furry daughters, Ginger and Squirt; two brothers, Richard E. Goodin, Jr. of Elizabethtown and Eddie (Meredith) Goodin of Lawrenceburg; four nieces, Jenna Goodin of Elizabethtown, Gracie Goodin, Mercedes Gonzales, and Alexia Gonzales all of Lawrenceburg; one nephew, Corey Goodin of Lawrenceburg; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Jesse Hood officiating. Burial will follow at Hardin Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and continue after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of Contributions to Fight for Steph at any Republic Bank.

Neil Burden
Alfred Neil Burden, 71, of Elizabethtown, died Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Muhlenberg County, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Elizabethtown Church of Christ. He was retired from Bowman Distribution where he worked for over twenty years. The 1958 Howevalley High School graduate formerly worked at the A & P Food Store in Elizabethtown and formerly owned and operated the Cecilia Super Saver Grocery Store. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Homer and Mary Opal Taylor Burden and by a son, Raymond Dowdell, Jr. He is survived by his wife of thirty years, Carolyn Goodin Burden, six daughters, Cynthia (Jeff) Corder of Madison, WI, Roxanne (Phillip) Alcorn of Cecilia, Lanea Burden, Cathy (Mark) Sharman, Terry (Joe) Ballard and Stephanie (Mick) Heibert all of Elizabethtown and Sandi (Dwayne) Young of Indianapolis, IN, two sons, Dwayne (Cathy) Burden of Cecilia and Mike Dowdell of Elizabethtown, one sister, Carolyn Gaston of Central City, 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. The funeral is at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Elizabethtown Church of Christ with Ray Pack and John Board officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home.
